It is a true Masterpiece. This is the first time in 4 years he has taken his mask off while performing on stage, this was his comfort zone, where he can truly be the person he is. People that say they cannot feel his emotions have zero heart. Those people obviously don't understand his struggles through life of being accepted as the individual he is. Cold hearts here, obviously fans of rival countries that would do anything just to sh!t all over Australia.
The emotion seems very real to me. The song lyrics talk about his being shunned by other kids when he was six years old - this was his age when he was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, which prevented him from speaking to anyone as a child except for his sister. He sings with a mask because that’s where he feels at his most confident. Taking it off on stage would have been a big thing for him to do. His voice is so incredible… it’s hard to imagine him being vulnerable too.
I just found out Sheldon has Asperger’s and this is what the song is about him not being the same, fitting into that mould. I watched the performance live and I said to my son who has autism see we are all not the same (not knowing at the time Sheldon has Asperger’s) the words I could relate to and it what’s such meaning to it. My son has welcomed me to the world of Eurovision he is obsessed with it. He is only 15 but what he knows about Eurovision is mind blowing, he can tell me the winner of ever year since Eurovision has been going on. Eurovision is his life. So in saying this, this song really has touched my heart, and alot of people could relate to not fitting in the square box. A proud Aussie and so proud of Sheldon for being a voice for people who perhaps don’t have a voice to tell their story. And Sheldon always does the mask thing in his performance. This song isn’t about pure entertainment, so many songs these days don’t have any meaning behind them, This song gets you thinking it’s different and different is good!
He feels different and hides behind a mask, lying and pretending, trying to fit in but always feeling different. At the end he takes the mask off and is just who he is, accepting that it's ok to be different, that we're all different. The lighting is dark and it's smokey because he is hiding, he steps out of the dark and smoke as part as stepping forward to show who he is.
The song musically is not as good as Italy or even Poland, but you really missed why it was so emotional by talking all the way through the song. Watch again, but this time LISTEN and you'll connect with it. Of course the problem is, not everybody's English is good enough to understand, so without a strong hook in the chorus it will go over their heads and won't be moved. It's not a song I would put on a playlist, but it's a masterful and genuinely heart felt performance.

No offens but for me more drama 0 emotions for me. I didn't feel nothing at all. If I compare Sheldon's song with Ochman or guys from Italy who really gives me something. His song is good, I like but I can't feel it. Sorry Australia , but not this year.

Is it a fashion to send unusual people like Portugal from 2018 to Eurovision? I'm sorry, but I don't want such Eurovision. Australia is a good proposition but I don't want it to win. There will be a fight again in the next competitions who will send a sick person. Excuse me.
