your feelings on Ulveham is how i feel about Fulenn, the french entry from 2022. using a regional language that the french government is still suppressing to this day and a very unique musical style and it completely backfired.
And like with Gåte, the Danish entry from Fyr og Flamme, which was the first time the Danes performed fully in Danish since the 90's, although close didn't make it the the final, so the Danes went back to singing in English, like they always do.
"Øve Os På Hinanden" also became a hit in Denmark, as well as their debut album. The blame is on the jury, because had it been televote only, Denmark would've qualified comfortably at 7th. (Though we would've also lost "Karma", and that would've been sad)
Its so unfortunate that those kind of songs don't do that well. Ulveham is not only my favorite esc song but also my favorite song in general and Fyr og Flamme where genuinely awesome and the song is still one of my faves
@@EldaMengisto In 1979 a song in Faroese was competing in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. It got 3rd place. Tommy Seebach (father of Rasmus) won with Disco Tango. "Aldan" (Bølgen (The Wave)), the Faroese song is still huge in Faroe Islands, most people not even knowing that it's a Eurovision song (The only Eurovision song ever in Faroese).
Still brings tears to my eyes! I know they couldn't have staged it this way, but damn, that was so impactful! Still mad tho that they buried it in the semi, it would've been a more than deserving interval act for the final.
I still am not convinced Iceland would've won, it had televote competition in Russia and some (to perhaps a lesser extent) in Lithuania. In terms of its jury prospects, I think Italy, Switzerland and Bulgaria would've been battling it out, with Italy perhaps fairing out the best of the three. Even with a high televote, I think it may would've placed 2nd or 3rd but not have won it out right.
Underrated by the juries yes, not that it was a good song, but 2019 was extremely weak. But still HEAVILY overrated by the televote. 6th place was deserved. Another proof that 50/50 is the best possible system.
You're not alone, Gabe...I still haven't got over Norma John not qualifying for the final. One of the best ballads the last 20 years at Eurovision, and a superb performance. I still remember people trying to justify it, saying that it was too dark. And what was "1944" by Jamala, then, who won just the previous year???
Thanks for including Horehronie! I didn't care for Eurovision yet back then, but that song was everywhere in Czechia and it was so much better than most of the local pop mainstream, I've never forgotten it. Since I started watching the contest a few years later, I've been missing Slovakia 😢.
It’s Czechia 2023 for me 😭 very original, very different, I really wanted Finland to win too but I feel those girls didn’t get the recognition they deserved
I've been bitter about a lot of poor results for songs I love in Eurovision, but nothing will ever come close to the frustration I felt when Eat your salad by Citi Zeni didn't even make it to the final. They were absolutely legendary, and they at least deserve credit for successfully making an entire continent + Australia simultaneously yell the word "pussy"
I mean now I know they might come back in 2025 with Ramtai I want to see them back. But I honestly hated their entry in 2022 (I’m sorry). It was just far too stupid for me to take seriously, and probably some of the worst lyrics in the history of Eurovision. Ramtai is miles better.
Some of entries who I think were robbed/deserve better:- 1) Croatia 2021 - yeah.. getting seperate top 10 in juries and televote but not when combined... that's just sad. 2) Iceland 2020 & 2021 😢 3) Spain 2023 - my second favourite entry that year. I understand why Blanca might get lower scores in televotes as Eaea was extremely artsy, but 5 points... damn 4) Latvia 2023 - Again, I understand why Sudden Lights didn't qualify as the song wasn't very "Eurovision" (idk how to explain it, but you get what I mean). But still, it is my favourite entry that year so this one hits hard for me. 5) Norway 2024 - I did not expect this kind of outcome at all. The year where I hope to see Europe to appreciate Norwegian folk rock, only for Gåte to be placed last in the final (and the unexpected borderline qualifier) 6) Czechia 2024 - the battle for the 10th spot into the finals was between Gåte and Aiko. I wish both of them had qualified, but oh well at least Aiko won something else in the aftermath (Kat from Megara)
Yeah Czechia 2024 is my favourite. I think Czechia would’ve done a lot better than Norway in the final (probably because of the juries) but happy for Aiko because that’s how she met Kat - and now they both have sent an entry together for Benidorm fest 2025 😍
Call me whatever you want but Blanca Paloma was way too overhyped by the fandom. To be honest I Never liked her song and the performance did not improve it to me. The truly robbed Spanish entry was Chanel finishing in 3rd place when she should have won by a landslide in 2022 or Edurne not placing better in 2015.
-BLACKBIRD. Still utterly breathtaking, and the only song other than Aija that it just properly hurts it didn't qualify. -Albina probably should have qualified but I will not hear any hate for The Wrong Place. -I still remember thinking Eaea could have won the juries. Oops.
HOREHRONIE MENTIONED!!! gabe this feels so validating to me, that song is my roman empire. i propose slovakia comes back with horehronie a 2nd time. no one remembers it so they wouldn't notice it's a repeat
@@tallemajas they tell you about the 'hidden meanings" and the writers and stuff It's basically about the region of Slovakia called horehronie and about how beautiful it is
Czech and Slovak languages are mutually understandable. You can argue that besides Kabát's Malá dáma, Horehronie is easily the most well-known (Czechoslovak) eurovision entry. People do not know Eurovision, they know Horehronie.
I'm from Czechia and I still hear Horahronie on radio in the car like atleast once a month, I love it and even loved it as a kid when I first heard it and when I found out that this was a Eurovision song I was exstatic until I found out that she got completly robbed lmao
I am still bitter that Finland didn't choose Erika Vikman - Cocciolina to represent Finland for that 2020 ESC that never happened. She was crazy and party before Käärijä.
As a Slovak Eurovision fan I felt the pain from Horehronie not qualifying as well as us dropping out from the contest. Considering the current political situation, I don't think we'll be in again, but I still have hopes. Nice video Gabe!
I have never forgotten Blackbird and Apollo from 2017 they were 2 of my faves that year. Granted it was the first time i watched the semifinals and coincidentally my country won the whole contest but black bird was such an emotional song.
The voting has never been too favorable for Finland. The entry has to be something truly special to make it anywhere close to top 10. A lot of decent entries from Finland are lucky to even qualify and sometimes I think that the same song would have done a lot better if it would have been from some other country. And this why I don't expect Finland to ever win again. That and the tendency to send horrible entries (which hopefully has come to an end now).
Spain 2023 is still so unbelievable to me. Especially because everyone (not in the Eurovision bubble) had it in their top 5 and EVERY musician I asked about it said it is easily their favourite. So how did no one vote for it? I still don’t understand
I cannot thank you enough for reminding me what Slovakia's song from 2010s was. At the time of the show I didn't even know Eurovision existed, but i somehow stumbled upon the song in middle school and fell in love with it immediately. That might have been the first time I heard of Eurovision, actually. So thank you so much for reminding me of Horehronie, Gabe!
Honestly the Flo Rida feature made me not wa't to vote for them.... The reaction of my and my friends was 'what is this famous American doing in our Eurovision?'
For me its still the robberies in the National Finals, with Jann in Poland last year und Ryk in Germany this year. I get heartbroken everytime i hear "Oh Boy" he would have gotten into the Top 10 to 100%.
As a German metalhead, I was so sad about Lord of the Lost getting so few points in 2023. I've been listening to that band ever since I discovered them 10 years ago when I was 13 years old and I've seen them live multiple times. It warms my broken little heart to see how many people in the ESC fandom share my opinion about how much they were robbed
I think the one that really keeps getting robbed is Finnish 2015 entry Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät. It was not there to win, but nobody doesn't even talk about them. A band made by disabled men, breaking through so many stereotypes and walls, singing a punk song they wrote themselves, about the difficulties of being disabled and not taken seriously and they keep being overlooked even by the influencer fans, even in the most weird lists. This band made the impossible possible and people are pretending they were never there. That is not just robbing them, that is just horrible behavior and shows how Europe doesn't see or appreciate the bravery of these men. Finland celebrates them, but nobody else will.
I've even seen someone calling it insulting (to the performers themselves) to put people with disabilities on the stage, which shows people don't get the band at all. It was never going to win, but it was a fun song, which the guys wrote themselves about their everyday life.
@ As a Finn I’d say we never put people on the stage to win, as we are used to losing hard. But we love to make statements of ourselves, show the culture and make waves. Finland is very proud of those boys, they write their own music and have learned to play the instruments. They have sisu and there is nothing more Finnish than that. So sad Europe can’t even look at them let along remember they exist. Much like disabled people everywhere.
No one was robbed more than Norway 2019. Won the televote in both, SF and GF, but got destroyed by the jury so bad that they didn't even finish Top 5. Basically, the juries disqualified them.
My top 10 most robbed would be 1. Joost Klein - Europapa 🇳🇱 2. Aija - Sudden Lights 🇱🇻 3. Gåte - Ulveham 🇳🇴 4. Senhit - Andrenalina (ft. Flo Rida) 🇸🇲 5. Teya & Salona - Who The Hell Is Edgar 🇦🇹 6. Luke Black - Samo Mi Se Spava 🇷🇸 7. VICTORIA - Tears Getting Sober 🇧🇬 8. Gaoi - Think About Things 🇮🇸 9. Little Big - UNO 🇷🇺 10. Albina - Tick-Tock 🇭🇷
Amnesia by Roxen in 2021 is the most robbed for me, after alcohol you being so high up the Romanian broadcaster giving her staging she couldn’t handle meant the performance felt a bit angry and nervous which lead to her not making the final despite a beautiful song and beautiful staging
Completely agree re Slovakia 2010. In fact I added the Horehronie Region to a road trip through Central Europe that I did in 2014, specifically because of this song. I loved it! BTW I'm from Australia
Two recent non-qualifiers who were robbed: Latvia's Sudden Lights - Aijā 2023 (one of my favourite choruses in Eurovision history) and Denmark's Saba with Sand 2024. Two recent last places who were robbed: Germany's Lord of the Lost - Blood & Glitter 2023 and Norway's Gåte - Ulveham 2024. Two recent 2nd places who were robbed: Finland's Käärijä - Cha Cha Cha 2023 and Turkey's maNga - We Could Be the Same 2010.
Thank you Gabe for a great video! I love the concept, hope you'll continue to do videos like this! I agree on Blackbird, loved that song, and still do! Additionally, I think Olly Alexander was robbed this year with 0 televote points.
LOVE that you're giving Norma John their flowers, which they truly deserve! I rediscovered ''Blackbird'' in 2021 and it became one of my most listened to songs that year, and it would probably be the one of the first songs I think of when thinking about robbed entries. But apart from that I would also say: - Conan Osiris - Sudden Lights - The Humans - The fact that Lena won with ''Satellite'' when the much, much better follow up ''Taken By A Stranger'' only came 10th in a pretty weak year. If you were to put those two songs up against each other today without context, I would pretty confidently say that TBAS would perform better. - And lastly Eugent Bushpepa, because even though he got a pretty good result, I think he gets robbed in the sense that he in large parts often gets overlooked when talking about the greatest singing performances in the competitions history and all time Albanian entries. I also think he played a significant part with his result in 2018 to rock music again starting to find its foothold in the competition and encourage rock musicians to consider Eurovision more seriously. After a long negative trend of rock- and rock influenced entries having less representation in the modern era of the competition, it reached it's low point in 2017 statistically. So this encouraging result and performance the next year, couldn't have come at a better time.
Unpopular opinion: Spain's Eaea song, it's so annoying! I still cannot understand the results for Norwat's Ulveham. One of the best songs and performances of the year!
Interesting. For me, it was the other way around; I adored Spain and Blanca Paloma with Eaea, but was unimpressed by Ulveham, actually almost annoyed - it's fascinating how different entries click with different people - or not - for whatever reasons. I grew up with Spanish neighbours, f.i., maybe that was a factor, but I'm really not sure. What shapes one's taste?
I didn't really like eaea. I mean, her vocals were great, but that's about it. I was expecting it to get more points from the jury, but I think that the 5 from televote was justified. It just disappeared in the masses.
My robbery would have to be Denmark 2021. They were 7th in the public and 15th in the jury votes! Fyr Og Flamme are great and I love them so much. That hug they shared when they knew Finland was getting the last spot really hurt
Käärijä is by far the biggest robbery. Would've won every other year. Lost only because it just happened to be the year when Loreen decided to participate, making it impossible for anyone else to win.
while neither she nor the Make Makes deserved such disrespect, she definitely was better than they were, given her flawless performance. Although they do get credit for the Burning Piano referenced the next year :D
Systur -Með hækkandi sól in 2022 should have done much better. It's a beautiful, haunting song and it was so much better than a lot of pop trash that year.
I would add Poland 1994, robbed of victory. This was the year many countries from behind the Iron Wall participated for the first time, and having one of them win that very year would have been iconic. The singer sung parts of her song in English during the second rehearsal (which was not allowed back then as you had to sing in your national tongue), officially due to sore throat and English being easier on the vocal chords than Polish. This angered some of the delegations and made them to push for disqualification. When that attempt failed, they still refused to give points to Poland. In result, Poland finished second.
As someone who voted for ulveham both in the semifinal and in the final hurted so much I would have been happy if it finished top 15 The televote didn't shock me that much (i know Europe doesn't have taste) but the 'profesional' jury made me lose any hope i had in the contest Respect for the albanian jury who gave it 6 points❤
Great top 10 robberies!! I was horrified when Blackbird did'n qualify. Also, Hohreronie NQ was depressing (and when i realized the jury vote sank them oh gosh... why!!)
I would say Belgium for this year. They were 1st in the odds at some stage, stayed in top 5 for a long time but didnt even qualify somehow. The singing was pretty good and the staging was excellent. I have no idea how it didnt qualify. It was a huge hit
I would like to add Finland and Latvia 2023, France, Latvia (that was. a special kind of pain) and Ireland 2022, Romania 2019 and I could keep going on Oh and I’m never forgiving Europe for what they did to Disko 😢
That moment when Spain and Austria got their televote results back to back in 2023 was the moment my heart was shattered to a billion pieces.

Sudden Lights' robbery was a big bummer, Blackbird's robbery was the one that made me the most emotional, Ulveham's robbery is scary.
Can we agree that every Song from 2024 was robbed in a way
2024? Got to be Joost.
No. Most of these were overrated.
2021 and 2023***
Not Liar, The Code, Maria & Teresa, RTTD, Fighter, we will shave.
Those songs were either mid or got a good place already.
Mimicat was Robbed and thats on Period. She deserved at least second half of the board
She was top 3 for me.
absolutely, her performance was incredible and as a Swiss person I still genuinely can’t believe that *Watergun* places higher than her
She had such stage presence! Not much technically going on but she filled the whole space with her personality. I loved it.
@@krisselissan6539 Watergun was a weak song musically, but the message was strong... I liked it enough for that.
Mimi and Conan were so robbed considering that Portugal was clearly having fun and showing something new and excited but were robbed big time
aija was robbed at esc and now also this video lmao
I would also include to the list Gréta Salóme, Hear Them Calling from Iceland in Eurovision 2016 🇮🇸. The fact that it failed to qualify is still mind blowing to me
I regularly sing that in shows and it's ALWAYS a crowd-pleaser, even with people who have no idea what Eurovision is. Seconded!
@@tomasornrunarsson9682 She should've been top 5, shame on people for not realising it.
She and Jonsi were also robbed in 2012 aswell 😭
I think that being in the same semi-final as Russia took away many votes from Iceland.
Absolutely. Her and Agnete deserved the final so much.
Trust me Gabe Blackbird hasn't been forgotten.
your feelings on Ulveham is how i feel about Fulenn, the french entry from 2022. using a regional language that the french government is still suppressing to this day and a very unique musical style and it completely backfired.
That song sucked live
Seeing some love for Aijā by Sudden Lights in the comments and yeah I would definitely add them.
And strongly agree on Ulveham and Eaea.
Ulveham and Eaea were not as robbed as Austria 2023
@@MilouLois Ulveham was my third this year!
Diodato - Fai Rumore was robbed as an entry for Eurovision 2020 as it got cancelled.
The interval performance of it on Eurovision 2022 is so good.
Still brings tears to my eyes! I know they couldn't have staged it this way, but damn, that was so impactful!
Still mad tho that they buried it in the semi, it would've been a more than deserving interval act for the final.
It would almost certainly have won (and deserved to).
@@phuttyyt No. It would have placed super high, but Iceland would have won.
@@TH2714 That song + that performer + that context = obvious winner in my book :)
Another robbery to me would be Norway 2019. That was the biggest divide between the televote winner and the juries ever!
Underrated by the juries yes, not that it was a good song, but 2019 was extremely weak. But still HEAVILY overrated by the televote. 6th place was deserved. Another proof that 50/50 is the best possible system.
agreed. i will always resent the juries for that one.
Tbh I think North Macedonia was more robbed by the televote, I would have really loved it if they won 🇲🇰
@@liamtornqvist This comment right here. Yes there were good songs that year, but 80% of them were a 6 Or a 7 in ranking
@@liamtornqvistCompletely agree. Whilst I did think the jury were a bit harsh on it, I personally felt the televote overrated it quite a bit.
Norma John’s Blackbird is a masterpiece. Broke my heart when it didn’t quality.
Yeah, seven years and I still don't understand how Blackbird didn't make it to the finals. I still listen to that song and it's amazing.
Since I started watching the contest a few years later, I've been missing Slovakia 😢.
the new camera makes such a difference and it makes your videos way more pleasant to watch now!!
thank you!!! still working out the lighting but we are getting there 🥳
The 1975 German entry became an ESC classic, but came in 17th that year. It was certainly robbed.
Daði ❤❤❤ Damn I wish 2020 would have happened so we could have had Eurovision in Husavik!
So many great songs that year, but alas...no competition. The next competition was a great disappointment in comparison.
It’s Czechia 2023 for me 😭 very original, very different, I really wanted Finland to win too but I feel those girls didn’t get the recognition they deserved
Totally agree! They were ny faves of tbat year!
Nah, studio version was phenomenal, but live performance didn't hit that well, the place they got was still good and deserved.
I feel like "My Sister's Crown" getting tenth wasn't bad at all! Especially with the fears about how would they perform live.
Czechia’s “My Sister’s Crown” was outstanding.
Nice song, but it had to beat cha cha cha and Tattoo, both songs were better🥲
I've been bitter about a lot of poor results for songs I love in Eurovision, but nothing will ever come close to the frustration I felt when Eat your salad by Citi Zeni didn't even make it to the final. They were absolutely legendary, and they at least deserve credit for successfully making an entire continent + Australia simultaneously yell the word "pussy"
Truly an accomplishment at Eurovision we never would have expected before this
I mean now I know they might come back in 2025 with Ramtai I want to see them back. But I honestly hated their entry in 2022 (I’m sorry). It was just far too stupid for me to take seriously, and probably some of the worst lyrics in the history of Eurovision. Ramtai is miles better.
Some of entries who I think were robbed/deserve better:-
1) Croatia 2021 - yeah.. getting seperate top 10 in juries and televote but not when combined... that's just sad.
2) Iceland 2020 & 2021 😢
3) Spain 2023 - my second favourite entry that year. I understand why Blanca might get lower scores in televotes as Eaea was extremely artsy, but 5 points... damn
4) Latvia 2023 - Again, I understand why Sudden Lights didn't qualify as the song wasn't very "Eurovision" (idk how to explain it, but you get what I mean). But still, it is my favourite entry that year so this one hits hard for me.
5) Norway 2024 - I did not expect this kind of outcome at all. The year where I hope to see Europe to appreciate Norwegian folk rock, only for Gåte to be placed last in the final (and the unexpected borderline qualifier)
6) Czechia 2024 - the battle for the 10th spot into the finals was between Gåte and Aiko.
@@pedronegrete6589Chanel was too overhyped by her fandom. She did well, not robbed
@@tomyam211 I agree with Croatia 2021 and Latvia 2023, but where is Austria 2023?
I'm going on record to say that Tuta Gold is the best entry Mahmood submitted for Italy's entry and is a shame it didn't win.
it is really good
It's better than Brividi, but Soldi still reigns supreme for me.
Mahmood is absolutely iconic and I wish he wins Eurovision some day, because he's amazing & I kept up with him ever since Soldi & he keeps delivering
-BLACKBIRD. Still utterly breathtaking, and the only song other than Aija that it just properly hurts it didn't qualify.
-Albina probably should have qualified but I will not hear any hate for The Wrong Place.
-I still remember thinking Eaea could have won the juries. Oops.
Finland and Blackbird mentioned ❤❤❤ Not only that! You are one of the best content creators.
🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮
Austria brought the robbery to themselves when they chose that staging...
True story.
HOREHRONIE MENTIONED!!! gabe this feels so validating to me, that song is my roman empire. i propose slovakia comes back with horehronie a 2nd time. no one remembers it so they wouldn't notice it's a repeat
We literally learn about it in scool here in Slovakia
@@adrianabenyusova2614 omg ??? what do they tell you about it, that's so funny
@@tallemajas they tell you about the 'hidden meanings" and the writers and stuff
It's basically about the region of Slovakia called horehronie and about how beautiful it is
@@adrianabenyusova2614 that's so interesting! i'd love to visit sometime
Czech and Slovak languages are mutually understandable. You can argue that besides Kabát's Malá dáma, Horehronie is easily the most well-known (Czechoslovak) eurovision entry. People do not know Eurovision, they know Horehronie.
I can't believe gabe is as obsessed with igranka as me. It has been litterally 11 years and i haven't move on, that performance blew me the fuck away
Iceland from 2016 "Hear Them Calling" was a huge robbery
I'm from Czechia and I still hear Horahronie on radio in the car like atleast once a month, I love it and even loved it as a kid when I first heard it and when I found out that this was a Eurovision song I was exstatic until I found out that she got completly robbed lmao
I am still bitter that Finland didn't choose Erika Vikman - Cocciolina to represent Finland for that 2020 ESC that never happened. She was crazy and party before Käärijä.
REAL
But what was chosen or not chosen for the ESC *that never happened* is totally irrelevant... And Cicciolina has become a classic in Finland anyway. ;)
Biggest robberies
Latvia -2023
Poland -2019
Andorra- 2009
Norway- 1997
Germany- 1996
Didn't mention Edyta Gorniak's "To Nie Ja"
Even Ireland didn't want to win Eurovision in 1994 as hosting Eurovision was expensive for them
Edyta was almost DQ'ed for performing in English instead of Polish during jury rehearsal.
Yes, Poland was def. better than the song that won that year...
I honestly voted for Blanca Poloma. I was SO SHOCKED that evening that she got so few points. I was hyping everyone about this amazing song!
As a Slovak Eurovision fan I felt the pain from Horehronie not qualifying as well as us dropping out from the contest. Considering the current political situation, I don't think we'll be in again, but I still have hopes. Nice video Gabe!
i'm lukewarm on the song itself, but I think poor Ovidiu Anton deserves a mention, what a mess that was
As big sudden lights fan, they were SO robbed everytime I show the song to someone they all think it's a really well made and interesting song
I have never forgotten Blackbird and Apollo from 2017 they were 2 of my faves that year. Granted it was the first time i watched the semifinals and coincidentally my country won the whole contest but black bird was such an emotional song.
apollo was such a robbery omg
Horehronie is still really well known in Slovakia and Czechia, to the point where most people don't even know that this was a Eurovision song
I am a 'the wrong place' enjoyer so that killed me
albina was still robbed 100%
Same, that was one of my favorite songs that year. The lyrics are really nice.
So glad to see Blackbird on here, my personal favourite that year
I cannot thank you enough for reminding me what Slovakia's song from 2010s was. At the time of the show I didn't even know Eurovision existed, but i somehow stumbled upon the song in middle school and fell in love with it immediately. That might have been the first time I heard of Eurovision, actually. So thank you so much for reminding me of Horehronie, Gabe!
was very pleasantly surprised that blackbird got a mention! that song is absolutely beautiful, it was in my top 5 entries that year.
No we don't we think they are ass😂😂
DUDE I AGREE FOR FINLAND 2017 SO MUCH
My top 10 most robbed would be
1. Joost Klein - Europapa 🇳🇱
2. Aija - Sudden Lights 🇱🇻
3. Gåte - Ulveham 🇳🇴
4. Senhit - Andrenalina (ft. Flo Rida) 🇸🇲
5. Teya & Salona - Who The Hell Is Edgar 🇦🇹
6. Luke Black - Samo Mi Se Spava 🇷🇸
7. VICTORIA - Tears Getting Sober 🇧🇬
8. Gaoi - Think About Things 🇮🇸
9. Little Big - UNO 🇷🇺
10. Albina - Tick-Tock 🇭🇷
Hot take: tears getting sober would have won in 2020, narrowly beating Iceland
@@AW-EV-and-FTM Televote would have showering it on uno by little big though
Amnesia by Roxen in 2021 is the most robbed for me, after alcohol you being so high up the Romanian broadcaster giving her staging she couldn’t handle meant the performance felt a bit angry and nervous which lead to her not making the final despite a beautiful song and beautiful staging
I get the impression that if Sweden sent an incontinent goat as their entry, they'd still end up in competition for first place.
I smile every time I see Dadi's yogurt commercials - one of my kids eats the same yogurt. LOL!
I'VE BEEN SEEING THOSE TOO AND AT THE WORST POSSIBLE TIMES (the writer of one of my fav *ahem* uh fanfics knows what's up) 😭
Completely agree re Slovakia 2010.
But apart from that I would also say:
- Conan Osiris
- Sudden Lights
- The Humans
- The fact that Lena won with ''Satellite'' when the much, much better follow up ''Taken By A Stranger'' only came 10th in a pretty weak year.
So this encouraging result and performance the next year, couldn't have come at a better time.
not on this list, but haba haba by stella mwangi not even qualifying in 2011 will always baffle me 😭
Hah! Jokes on you, I voted for Blanka Paloma from Finland and it was my overall winner for 2023. Still hurts
6:58 Now that was an F1 reference I did NOT expect to see here hahahaha
Also YESS JUSTICE FOR NORMA JOHN 😭😭😭 Great video, Gabe!
I didn't really like eaea. I mean, her vocals were great, but that's about it. I was expecting it to get more points from the jury, but I think that the 5 from televote was justified. It just disappeared in the masses.
And the backing vocalists sounded terrible
My robbery would have to be Denmark 2021. They were 7th in the public and 15th in the jury votes! Fyr Og Flamme are great and I love them so much. That hug they shared when they knew Finland was getting the last spot really hurt
Käärijä is by far the biggest robbery. Would've won every other year. Lost only because it just happened to be the year when Loreen decided to participate, making it impossible for anyone else to win.
I am 18 and I knew Flo Rida long before the Eurovision 2021
to this day i hate that "who the hell is edgar" was INSANELY robbed because of the kaarja vs loreen battle 😭
As an American eurofan in his 20s, you will not BELIEVE my confusion when I learned that Flo Rida competed
Norway 2016 was a big robary to imo
Icebreaker was amazing
Biggest robberies:
2024 - Gåte
2023 - Lord Of The Lost
🖤🖤🖤
for me the bigggest robbery is and will always be ann sophie in 2015 like really, 27th she did amazing
while neither she nor the Make Makes deserved such disrespect, she definitely was better than they were, given her flawless performance. Although they do get credit for the Burning Piano referenced the next year :D
Love your content Gabe. Thank you for making quality content weekly for us even during off Eurovision season.
senhit and flo rida should be allowed to sue the population of europe for that robbery in 2021 and i will die on that hill
I will never forget when we found out about flo rida my life permanently changed that day
cant wait for the 3 hour long sequel for national final songs
Systur -Með hækkandi sól in 2022 should have done much better. It's a beautiful, haunting song and it was so much better than a lot of pop trash that year.
i'm still obsessed with it
Gorgeous folk ballad with amazing live vocals. Their 70s outfits were on point too!
As someone who voted for ulveham both in the semifinal and in the final hurted so much
I would have been happy if it finished top 15
The televote didn't shock me that much (i know Europe doesn't have taste) but the 'profesional' jury made me lose any hope i had in the contest
Respect for the albanian jury who gave it 6 points❤
"Except for Denmark" WOW YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO GO THAT HARD AT THE END THERE
Everything's gone green.
I will never forget Blackbird.....
On the subject of robbed entries in Nordic languages - Denmark 21.
Great top 10 robberies!! I was horrified when Blackbird did'n qualify. Also, Hohreronie NQ was depressing (and when i realized the jury vote sank them oh gosh... why!!)
I was obsessed with Igranka! So nice to see love for it 😭
Still hurt about Blackbird, too. Don't worry, you're definitely not alone.
I would say Belgium for this year. They were 1st in the odds at some stage, stayed in top 5 for a long time but didnt even qualify somehow. The singing was pretty good and the staging was excellent. I have no idea how it didnt qualify. It was a huge hit
I may be a bit partial, but I thought Saara Aalto deserved more than 10th place in 2018. She's really talented.
I would like to add Finland and Latvia 2023, France, Latvia (that was. a special kind of pain) and Ireland 2022, Romania 2019 and I could keep going on
Oh and I’m never forgiving Europe for what they did to Disko 😢
