Thanks Drew. A lot of “collectors” write off cards like this. Fine by me. More for me. I enjoy collecting guys with stories like this. Hope you have a great weekend.

Awesome story of a guy I honestly knew nothing about. Always enjoy learning new players and new things of those players. Sounds like he could become a serious hot/cold type player. Beautiful card of him. Enjoyed as always Andy. Thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks, Steve! I’m guessing most people haven’t heard of Fly and probably haven’t even seen this card or if they have brushed it off. Which is fine for me because I can get it next to nothing. He was something else. The whole team was just wild. Thanks a lot Steve! Always appreciate and look forward to your comments.

Ha! Loved hearing about Fly Williams! I had heard of him but did not really know any about him! Great story and fun times in the ABA! I hope you decide to showcase some more of the characters from the ABA in the future!
    Well done Andy! 👍🏻

Hi Andy! Boy, I learned a lot on this video. I knew nothing about Fly Williams until today. The Austin Peay story was great. I remember Thurman Thomas thinking Buffalo was part of the New York City. Awww…the days before the internet
I love how he had Fly on the back of his jersey. The similarities between the AFL and ABA in their innovations and gimmicks to get fans is uncanny. Wahoo McDaniel was allowed to put Wahoo on the back of his jersey.
Great video! I hope you’re having a great week.
P.S. I can see an ABA case in your man cave. Haha

Hi Terry! Figured a lot of people wouldn’t know about him. But I love reading about his antics. Only made it one year in the ABA but left a lasting impression. My dad saw him play a couple of times. Said he thought he was one of the fastest players he ever saw.
The Austin Peay story I find hilarious. I didn’t know about Thurman Thomas. That’s really funny as well.
From what I’ve learned about the AFL from you you’re right about the leagues being similar. The AFL does seem more structured. The NBA adopted a lot of what the ABA did. The dunk contest, 3-point shot, almost everything but that red, white and blue ball.
Thanks, Terry and glad you enjoyed it. I need to get another case for my basement. My Colts cards are filling the one I have right now.

Man Andy this is so very cool! Awesome history of Fly. Funny my man Leonard Hamilton from FSU recruited him. Austin Peay is very close to me and was a rival of my Alma mater so I’m very familiar with the “let’s go peay” chants. I look forward to more of these ABA guys from you. Awesome stuff bud 👊🏻🏀

Hey David! From what I can tell there weren’t going to be many to sway Fly from Brooklyn but Leonard Hamilton. I figured you probably weren’t too far from Austin Peay. I’m glad they still have the “let’s go Peay” chant. Thanks a lot David! Hope you’re having a great week.

Fly man! Love it. Some really awesome stories of him. Love how he wrestled a bear. That how Paul “Bear” Bryant got his Knick name. This video on the ABA was ironic last few days I was searching around and found out that the Pittsburgh Condors had a real set in the 71 set I believe which will be in my collection at some point. I’m sure you’re gearing up for the basketball season and I am for some odd reason. I think it’s because my son enjoyed the summer games and keeps asking to go to a NBA game. Funny how our kids get us into certain things. I was so caught up in the story I went back and looking at the card you showed lol. Such a great card, colors, simple design and the classic fro of the 70s! Enjoyed as always my friend.

Hey Mike! You’re right about the Condors being in the 71 set. Those are pretty cards. Really hope they end up in your collection. The Skeeter Swift card cracks me up.
I’m pretty excited your son enjoyed the summer games. And is looking forward to the nba. Reach out if you ever want to talk basketball or basketball cards.
I’m ready for some Pacers basketball. My son has his last soccer game Saturday and as soon as that’s over it’s full on youth basketball for me for several months. Registration opened this week
Thanks for the awesome comment, Mike! Always look forward to what you have to say. Have a great weekend!

Hello Andy, very interesting story. The last year i watched the 30/30 ESPN documentary about the ABA Spirit of Saint Louis : what i remember the teams had a lots of caracters and the short period of this franchise was quite EPIC ! I guess they won at less one ABA title ?! Thanks you for sharing and Happy Telling.

I guess I fall into the “never heard of” category. This was interesting however. Sounds like he may have gotten into his own way from time to time but we are all guilty of that. Cool story Andy. The card is really nice. Simple image but very nice. Enjoyed this. Talk to you soon.

Howdy D ! I thought I commented on this Show. Guess not. Great bio on a player I know nothing about. I have about a dozen of this year topps. A cool set with great ABA team names. Memphis went from the "Tams" to the "Sounds". I thought the Memphis Sounds was a fitting name, just like the New Orleans Jazz. Great Show Andy. I never tire of your parting line, enjoy your collection. C ya Andy !

Hi Tom! Hope you and Otis enjoyed your trip to Flyland. The Tams’s stands for Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. The ABA was pretty lazy at times with nicknames, haha. I liked the Sounds better too.
Thanks for the compliment. Collectors and myself included are always on to the next item. It’s good to enjoy what you have. I’m as guilty as anyone.
Thanks for all the support Tom! Tell Otis to stay out of trouble this weekend.

@Dcollection Hey Andy that's good info on TAMS. It was a cap ladies in the 1920's wore and black guys in the early 70's like J.J. Walker wore on Good Times. I have a 73 topps sticker of the Tams logo, a cap. It's a hat white guys could not wear and pull it off. I can only remember seeing a white guy wear that type of hat once it was an early 70's movie, he was undercover cop in NYC. There was a 70's TV Show called Chico & the Man and a Puerto Rican character wore a Tam. I'll be in town Tuesday and I can print out some Shows to do. I like to keep my episodes coming out at least every couple weeks. Your going on a nice a clip. I was gonna just put out a YT Short, but it's been Triple digit heat for days and in the 90's for weeks. Too hot. Hope you and yours are comfortable. After 4 plus months on the hill, I can't wait for a burger and a milkshake. Otis is excited to see people other than me. Ha.
      Take care. C ya !
