Hi 3 Sons RC, I´m thinking to buy an used but almost new EXB with Spektrum (Firma) 160A Smart ESC and Firma 1100kV Motor (5687 size). Your Motor has more RPM but has maybe less torque? The seller has 30/35/40t pinions in his offer. That should be quite powerfull? What do you think? Till now I have only ridden 1/10s 2wd and 4wd. 3S-5S...

@@leo0528 Any power system will get hot regardless of gearing if it's ran hard and consistently and in warmer weather. For me it's fine for average bashing! However I have the Scorched Parts fenders on mine which can block air flow, so I fitted a 40mm fan on the motor

Just a side note on the esc install. You can trace the bottom of the esc onto a thin piece of paper. Then flip the esc over and use the square you just cut out to poke holes through the paper where the mounting holes are on the bottom of the esc. Then use the paper to locate the position of the esc onto the esc mounting plate and mark where the holes are. Then drill the holes. Now you can mount the esc with screws. Feel free to use some double sided tape in there as well. This holds up better than just tape itself. Double side note. The supplied plastic esc mount is pretty weak and breaks easy. Get the m2c mount.

Thanks!
Yeah, as long as you go past center on the throttle it will engage the brake. Of course braking power can be controlled via the program card. You can also activate drag brake to instantly engage a slight brake when you take your finger off the throttle. Many racers use this to slow down in turns

Hi Richard, I have just built my Mojave using the exact same setup except with a Futaba 4PM. When I try to set up the ESC I can get one beep for neutral but nothing after thar. Strangely when I turn the steering it gives me 2 beeps and hen I ditch off ad on again the steering controls the throttle! Every time I go back into programming mode the same happens! Any ideas? Thanks Colin
Hey - I'd clear out that current model's memory and start over. First bind the receiver to the radio, then calibrate the ESC to the radio. Make sure you have the receiver wires plugged in (polarity wise) correct and channel one for steering and channel two for throttle. If no tones for throttle again, you can try reversing channel 2.
I ran this on my Mojave, I ran the poop out of this with 8S. It’s rated for 6s but it ran insane and never got hot. Shredded frond and rear diffs. Fun, not recommended.
"Thats a little to tight for my liking" It was too loose, it should be as close as any possible without to stuck. It is not supposed to be noisy. In order to have a narrow fit you use shims in the diffs.....so why going that wide on the pinion???
Everyone has their opinions.....I have however never stripped a spur (except for that one in an Axial Bomber...). That's way over 100 kits and probably 2-300 RTR's
The recommended set up would be more like so… Max8 is for 1/8 scale, Max6 is for 1/8 or 5th scale, Max5 is for 1/5 scale. But really whatever the buyer prefers.
Yep, If you've been watching the channel for a while, I haven't used CC for about 8 years...had SO many issues with them and their terrible with warranty.
I would never put thread locker on the motor plate .. you will be drilling those out as heating it wont work if you plan on using the motor in another rc car / truck.
False. I, more than most transfer motors from RC to RC, constantly. I always use a small amount of blue thread lock, a sharp MIP driver and have never had an issue. Ever.
How do you set proper gear mesh? 🤔
Just like you did!
I cut piece of paper & insert between pinion and spur gears. When I thread lock & torque motor mount screw paper sets up perfect gap.
I usually check mesh by the spur gear - I think more precise option
PS - motor was connected the same as android Valter/David repaired:D
I use a peice of paper

🤨Turn your brakes up a little more on the remote 😉
Putting this in my e revo 2.0 soon
It's a great combo, hopefully the 2.0 will have the space for it
@@TheRCNetwork well it don’t fit, hits the suspension guard but a custom mount should fix it
Great video! Where that track is located? I will get my Mojave there! Thanks
It's in San Clemente, CA....off the neaten path though.
@@TheRCNetwork Thanks man!
I ran this on my Mojave, I ran the poop out of this with 8S. It’s rated for 6s but it ran insane and never got hot. Shredded frond and rear diffs. Fun, not recommended.
Good to know on the combo running on 8s.....haven't tried that yet
So this is the same platform as the krayton......i had no idea.
It's similar, but not the same dimensions
@@TheRCNetwork like the smaller outcast?
One question what size pinion did you use
I believe it was a 22t
That double sided tape is no joke
I know, huh>?
Hey, nice built! How do you feel about the smaller Max8 2200kv? Would you always prefer the the Max6?
For the Mojave, the Max 6 is the way to go. Even the Kraton needs the Max6.
Thankyou nice job.
Thanks for stopping by!
great video thanks!

"Thats a little to tight for my liking"
It was too loose, it should be as close as any possible without to stuck.
@@TheRCNetwork but whats the idea behind a loose gear-mesh?
@@Hirthirthirt you want zero resistance against the motor. Resistance builds heat, and you lose power.
I have this combo in my kraton EXB, I can't want to run it!!!!
Nice! Great combo for the Kraton EXB
I put a max6 taurus rocket red an black motor. 6$. In mine about too put it on the road. That motor is pure power check them out guys.
Nice! Happy RCing
The recommended set up would be more like so… Max8 is for 1/8 scale, Max6 is for 1/8 or 5th scale, Max5 is for 1/5 scale. But really whatever the buyer prefers.
That's not always the case.....the Mojave is a 1/7th-ish truck. I'd never run a Max6 in a 5th scale
@@TheRCNetwork I can respect that. Nothing wrong with different opinions.
I should of bought a hobby wing instead of the mamba x
Yep, If you've been watching the channel for a while, I haven't used CC for about 8 years...had SO many issues with them and their terrible with warranty.
I would never put thread locker on the motor plate .. you will be drilling those out as heating it wont work if you plan on using the motor in another rc car / truck.
False. I, more than most transfer motors from RC to RC, constantly. I always use a small amount of blue thread lock, a sharp MIP driver and have never had an issue. Ever.

Insert random time stamp here....???
@@TheRCNetwork No its hw the connection to the battery looks, I dont want to get it wrong :D
