@@tinkeringforfun I think it is very rude to comment actually. It is a hard language that is uncommon outside of Scotland so very few of us have any knowledge of it, let alone practice. Just smile to yourself that someone tried and didn't nail it. Manners cost nothing.

I absolutely love the quote you included by Matt Haig, it reminded me that I feel stuck and need to get out and see the great expanse of our beautiful world. Your travels are very inspiring. Hello from Australia ❤
I manage a campground and we charge for showers. The rate is 1 Canadian dollar for 5 minutes of shower time. I pound/10 minutes. If an RV comes in and has their own shower all they pay for is the water. When you come in and we need a building, payment method, hot water tanks and plumbing for the showers and toilets. You pay a little extra than the RVs that have their own facilities.

I’d have no problem paying £1 for a shower if it’s reflected in the pitch price. As a solo traveller I’d prefer a low pitch price and then an add on per person for things like extra water, electricity usage etc. one person on a pitch will cost the site less than 5 people. There’s a site I use regularly who gives a reduction for 2 people or less occupancy in their static caravans for this reason.
What a great surprise to get home from work to find another one of your brilliant videos has been uploaded. Can’t believe people aren’t happy with the way you pronounce some things. Christ. At least you give it a go 👍 Thanks for the video. Loving these travel videos. And Winston’s tail. X
I like the 'bike on roof' reminder. I have a Maxxraxx carrier on the back of my campervan which is part of the towing hitch assembly but leaves the tow ball free. It also swings down with the bike in place so I can open the tailgate door and/or the engine lid. A very thoughtful piece of engineering. It would fit nicely on your van if you don't want to keep heaving the bike down from the roof. I also like he campsite reports. These sites vary between extremes, from the rustically medieval to five-star quality. Best I have seen so far is the York Caravan Park. Downside? It is horrendously pricey.
Hello, I did look at putting the bike on the tow ball, but I don't have the nose weight spare and I would risk putting too much weight on the back of my little van and towbar, so I opted for the roof 👍🏼 Glad to hear your enjoying our videos. Thanks so much for watching 🙌

Thank you again, take care look after yourself and Winston ❤️
Roz, are you ready? I’m in America and When I’m traveling and need a shower, I will pay $10-$15 at a travel center! Our campsite are way more expensive, not uncommon to pay $35-$45 a night. KOA can be upward to $75. Camping has gotten crazy expensive since Covid. Just found you, enjoying this very much. Winston is adorable.
Camping is getting expensive, which is sad to see because it's meant to be an affordable pastime. Glad to hear you're enjoying our videos. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Another great video, thank you! It made me laugh when I saw your note on the dash to remind you of the height with the bike; it's the sort of thing I do! The levelling part was really helpful as well.
For once I’m not exhausted watching your video as you normally walk mile after mile and I feel like I’m with you every step of the way lol. You’re certainly well organised and if ever I was to attempt such a journey yours is the video to watch. Take care the both of you.
I am so happy that Ihave a double fix every week now!!! ❤❤❤ I was looking at the costs of local caravan sites, here in South Africa... Our costs are roughly half of the costs you have... And no charges at all for showers/baths!!! (Yes - there are sites with baths as well as showers out here!) When I was in my teens (around 40-ish years ago 🤦🏻♀️) my family spent many holidays caravanning around South Africa... Sadly I have not been able to introduce my children to the joys of caravanning as the costs of vans are way over the top here - a decent used van starts at around £10 000 and go up!! That cost to a local means that caravanning is now in the realm of the wealthy only in South Africa... 😭😭😭 With regards your shortbread issues... We have a brand called Bakers, here in South Africa, and even visiting Scots have raved about the quality of the biscuits... Don't know if they are available in UK.... 🤷🏻♀️
Take no notices what pple say about Ur pronunciation they seem to forget people come from from other part of country we born born to say there words but they quick of the mark to moan about it.. they shuld really try help u with saying these word instead of having ago .. These are ungreatful who don't help at all just ignore with a be of luck they learn to be hush .. And way I love watch u and Winston have fun and showing us beautiful place Roz u got this be proud off urself.😉😉
Sunstroke? In Scotland? This summer? More like hypothermia where I am! As for shortbread, Walkers gets my vote. Almost forgot about the new Sunday episode - a nice way to end the weekend 😀
A few people have mentioned the salt air and cold wins/water drying my skin out, which sounds more likely than sunstroke 🙈 ...although it felt very similar to sunstroke 😅 Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Is it Winston or Whinstone Roz? The whinstone cill is as you may know an outcrop of volcanic bluestone. The end of which outcrop is built the Longstone Lighthouse in Northumberland. You would be amazed how interesting and beautiful the NE coast is - but shhh don’t let the cat out of the bag. Thanks
It's Winston 🐶 I didn't give him that name, he already had it when I got him from the rescue centre. I wanted to change him name but he already responded to it 🙈
🤓😀🥘, Hello Roz and Winston, Much enjoyed Thankyou, My dog lady had surgery today, her leg, she'll be home tomorrow, weeks of recovery ahead, keep you posted, takecare 😊🦋🐕🦺
That's it! You've done it again! My van will be made reliable. MOT next month. That'll cost but she runs better so one the ministry have laughed at it,! I'll be on the road a lot more often. If I see you, I'll say hi! Seriously though, What more great places are you gonna treat ue to. I know Scotland and the Isles are said to be special but come on, You've made it a destination for me to check out (Dad was born there - Cupar.) I'm more of a scenery person myself. Another great video from you and Winst. Thanks Roz. Same rules. Well, happy and safe. Love ya, Wolfie.
Now that I've just moved to Scotland, it's mainly going to be Scotland for the next few adventures. Although I did take a quick trip to Devon before I moved house, so that adventure is yet to come 😀👍🏼
Hi roz and win,i love that uncrowded almost desolate beaches dunes open areas, theres plenty of solitude.but people not far away if you choose to interact.winston is so fit isnt he.? If i moved as much as he does i,d be a d cup before you know it,and heading south, for a bloke thats something.he d be a great personal trainer, actually you both would be.although i think i,d need a cattle prod to motivate me.but do so enjoy your all weather outdoorsy style ,you and win do great dokkos, thanks cheers
Personally Balranald is one of my favourite campsites in the UK (but I am interested in the wildlife though not a twitcher). I don’t think the £1 shower charge is extortionate, especially as the water supply is problematic in the Isles. The facilities block is lovely with lots of little extra touches and the walk around the reserve is really special. I’ve visited many times and hope to return next year.
Hi Roz and Winston. Thanks for another wonderful vlog. Regarding prices of sites (and showers): we have lived for a long time in sw France and take our caravan all over France, Spain and the UK. We are always totally shocked at UK site prices. In France and Spain we have never in over 40 years been charged extra for a shower, (apart from 20p once on a CL in West Sussex.) The most we have ever paid for a site is 28 euros, on an excellent Spanish site 2 years ago. and at the other end of the scale we have wintered for a number of years on a different Spanish site at the long stay discount price of 9 euros 99 per night, showers, wifi and electric included. (Prices have now risen a bit). Don't worry about the pronunciation thing, there isn't a person on the planet who knows how to pronounce every word out there. Btw, you can have discounted site prices by joining a discount organisation such as ACSI, although there are few ACSI sites in the UK, on the Continent there are many, many such sites.
Hi Roz, another great video. I’m pretty relaxed about the separate charge for a shower because the starting point for most “fixed” pitch fees is based on the van plus 2 adults. I’m a solo traveler like yourself but have never been offered a discount for single occupancy even though I use less electricity and water than a couple. Another unfairness is the sites that imposes a separate charge for a dog. One place wanted £2 per night but the only dog facility was a single poo bin, hardly VFM!
I've had a single occupancy discount at only 1 campsite and then the electricity was metered (it comes up later in this adventure) 👍🏼 I don't like paying for dogs either, especially when there's no facilities for them. The most expensive I've been charged was £5 per night PER DOG! Thankfully, I only have one dog 🙈
I occasionally explain Welsh pronunciations (not Scottish) to other Vloggers I’ve seen and always intend it as a help to people and not a criticism. The Celtic or Gaelic languages are sometimes a mystery to some people so it’s only meant with the best of wishes 🏴 lovely video as usual xx
Only time I have managed to find a short shortbread (I'm a bit like yourself, I like really crumbly shortbread), is at local bakers and tea shops when in Scotland. Or as you said, bake it yourself, but that's not easy with restricted cooking facilities.
During my working day for 20yr+ we were supplied with an endless supply of shortbread fingers (as were the passengers), I became extremely fond of them. As a result I’ve tried every brand of ‘finger’ and always returned to Walkers “Pure butter” shortbread fingers. We found the Walkers The Red Twin pack was tastier than all the others including Walkers Classic shortbread fingers. The fact it was a twin pack was great as one finger was never enough! Good luck with your research.

A Big thank you for this surprise video.I was about to start searching and here you are. I love seeing these islands with you and Winston. We envied a school chum who spent 5 weeks summer holidays on N. Uist 75 years ago Her Granny lived there and only spoke Gaelic so she learned it from her Mum. I m so enjoying joining you and Winston. Thanks a lot. PS. Criticism from folk just means “ No Oscar” Roz!
Hi Roz. Thanks for that. Nice and chilled as usual. The beach looks great. All the best.
Another great adventure, Roz & Winston, such lovely places, you're visiting 😊X
Usual thanks altho extra thanks for Sunday viewing. Walkers shortbread biscuits for me as I like dunking. Seven and a half mins for a shower and you with beautiful flowing locks. I think I would struggle and I have hair.short. Interesting view for you at campsite😊 Think I'm improving well at least I'm feeling stronger. Thank you again, take care look after yourself and Winston ❤️
Glad to hear you're recovering well. All the best and thanks for watching 👍🏼
Overjoyed to see this pop up tonight! Thankyou Roz ❤
Ooo Luv I liked the adventure music 😁
Thank you. All the music comes from Epidemic Sound 🙌🏼
Thanks for watching 😀
Nice relaxing video and then the real you came out. Nice!😊
Normal physical activities will resume in the next episode 😂😂
Thanks for watching. 👍🏼
Re music - I loved Heavy Metal then the punk era in the 70s! 😀
Showers should be included for that price x
I loved this brilliant you did look frozen tho Roz🥶hope you've not caught a cold xxxx
...wait and see 🙈😅
@@Roz.S keep warm you need a dry robe so you can keep warm and even change in it lol xx
And get some thermals on ok xxx
I am so happy that Ihave a double fix every week now!!! ❤❤❤
I was looking at the costs of local caravan sites, here in South Africa... Our costs are roughly half of the costs you have... And no charges at all for showers/baths!!! (Yes - there are sites with baths as well as showers out here!)
When I was in my teens (around 40-ish years ago 🤦🏻♀️) my family spent many holidays caravanning around South Africa... Sadly I have not been able to introduce my children to the joys of caravanning as the costs of vans are way over the top here - a decent used van starts at around £10 000 and go up!! That cost to a local means that caravanning is now in the realm of the wealthy only in South Africa... 😭😭😭
With regards your shortbread issues...
A few people have mentioned the salt air and cold wins/water drying my skin out, which sounds more likely than sunstroke 🙈 ...although it felt very similar to sunstroke 😅
Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Oohhhh a haunted campsite !!
Lovely
Try Walkers shortbread Roz. It's quite crispybut crumble and melts in the mouth. Very buttery and delicious. [Oh, and it's Scottish 😁.]
I wanted to change him name but he already responded to it 🙈
🤓😀🥘, Hello Roz and Winston,
Much enjoyed Thankyou, My dog lady had surgery today, her leg, she'll be home tomorrow, weeks of recovery ahead, keep you posted, takecare 😊🦋🐕🦺
I hope the surgery went well and she's home and resting 🐶❤️
Thanks so much for watching 👍🏼
@Roz.S Surgery Went well, Vet was happy, her knee, ACL, lady is 6 and a half, hopefully many more years for her to explore run jump and play 😃.
That's great news. So glad to hear it 🥰
Subject shortbread- the best is from Dean's from Huntly Aberdeenshire.
Another Lovely Video and as always the star of the show "Winston" Its film parts for him next so you will have to take a backseat. take care, Colin.
Although I did take a quick trip to Devon before I moved house, so that adventure is yet to come 😀👍🏼
1 British Pound = US$ 1.33. Always a good day with Roz and Winston.
Again just love your videos and your narration , and my down fall short bread biscuits, I find the M&S tin is good 😁
Personally Balranald is one of my favourite campsites in the UK (but I am interested in the wildlife though not a twitcher). I don’t think the £1 shower charge is extortionate, especially as the water supply is problematic in the Isles. The facilities block is lovely with lots of little extra touches and the walk around the reserve is really special. I’ve visited many times and hope to return next year.
Showers included
Roz
Shortbread try Morrisons the best shortbread rounds they are very crumbly x
Hi Roz, another great video. I’m pretty relaxed about the separate charge for a shower because the starting point for most “fixed” pitch fees is based on the van plus 2 adults. I’m a solo traveler like yourself but have never been offered a discount for single occupancy even though I use less electricity and water than a couple.
Another unfairness is the sites that imposes a separate charge for a dog. One place wanted £2 per night but the only dog facility was a single poo bin, hardly VFM!
I've had a single occupancy discount at only 1 campsite and then the electricity was metered (it comes up later in this adventure) 👍🏼
I don't like paying for dogs either, especially when there's no facilities for them. The most expensive I've been charged was £5 per night PER DOG! Thankfully, I only have one dog 🙈
Camping in a bird nature reserve and not being a birder! Nice! I can relate.
Walker's Shortbread Highlanders,Gera video as per, love how Winston’s tail seems to resemble a propeller 😂
I check if there’s a separate charge for showers before I go and if there is then I don’t use that campsite.
It’s not the cost, it’s the principle.
I have no problem with people correcting my pronunciation ❤️ but I have had a few people have been less that polite in the process 🙈🙈
I've put them on my shopping list 👍🏼 Thank you
