Yes batteries will get smaller as the energy density increases. There are a few. Most recently a 27% energy density im provement is starting on mass manufacturing. This meas for equal range only 730 pounds of battery are needed. This new battery also cost less. With increasing charging infraestructure the need for long range vehicle deminishes. A car with decreased lengh will be made, it will wight less than the 730pounds battery will end up with more range than the old vehicle with the 1,000 battery.
