- I used to really enjoy listening and indeed recording the BBC Radio 1 In Concert series on a Saturday evening during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. I also caught a few BBC Radio Friday Rock Show and Capital Radio sessions. I still have the cassette tapes and as the BBC has no immediate plan to make these available to the public I have decided to release close to 250 of these historical recordings on my RUclips channel.

Quality recording, and by far my favourite live version of Heaven In My Hands 😊
RIP Alan Murphy. Played his socks off here, immense
I really like this live version of "It's Over," with Alan Murphy's haunting guitar solo in the bridge.
By far my favorite live version of this lovely track BECAUSE this solo.
0:01 Heaven in My Hands
5:06 To Be With You Again
10:51 World Machine
16:40 Children Say
23:42 Silence
28:38 Bass thing
32:16 Tracie
38:24 It's Over
45:27 Man
53:08 The Chinese Way
Thanks for uploading this. I recorded it on tape with the radio signal fading in and out to hear it this clear is awesome.
So great to hear Alan Murphy on the top of his game here. Would have loved to hear more albums with his playing on
I think he was over playing a bit at the start on Heaven in my Hands. This concert was broadcast in January. I'm unsure if he was touring in the later part of 1988, but his playing was much more fluid and concise at the Princes Trust gig in July 1989. And of course he was no longer with us by October.
Finding gems like this is why I love RUclips! Thanks for uploading!!!
Thanks for this upload. What a shame this line up didn't get chance to make a second record. They really had a sound.
perhaps the most impressive mk bass solo out there!
Definitely! 👍
Great lick from the band of gypsies
This was the first concert I ever went to, it blew my 16 year old mind.
My brother and I were at the back or the arena and when the start of Heaven In My Hands came on the lights went out and the black curtains in front of the stage parted to reveal Mark's Alembic bass with LEDs and I instantly decided i wanted to become a bassist.
I saw level 42 at the gmax 1989 good gig
I've got the official CD and Cassette editions of this album, as well as the rare three track promo CD. A hugely enjoyable concert and those recordings are a prized part of my collection.
I was at this show. I’m pretty sure you can hear my then girlfriend screaming at some point. I’ve got the cassette of this concert somewhere that I recorded off the radio at the time. Great memories.
Any more energy in world machine and the universe would explode in its entirety. Best version yet!
Great !!!
Mark at his peak during these years
Not heard this before!!!! Love the bass/singing bit in the middle!!!! What song is that?
It’s a tune by jimi Hendrix and buddy miles called “who knows” from the band of gypsys cd
