I only wore the strap if I needed WM+ and I never owned skyward sword or Wii Sports Resort so I never played anything that needed those wide sweeping movements
Squadrons had me grinning like a fool in the cockpit with my VR headset on. That was one of the moments where the medium really shone and could be done sitting down, so was pretty inclusive
I really liked the motion controls for Twilight Princess since you basically just moved the controller so I could do whatever sword swing motion I wanted and pretend it worked. Skyward Sword frustrated me since you had to be more precise and had way too many times where the swing went the wrong way. I own, but haven't played the Switch version, but I hope it works well! The Metroid games and RE4 on the Wii were great too!
40:00 This reminds me of the great Frankie Boyle joke; "I don't write jokes for the average person. Becuase the average person is fucking Chinese." And they quite literally are.
i like when motion control is used to help adjust aiming not aiming its self. use the right stick to get close and just slightly tilt your hand for persition
36:36 the first of that kind of game i encountered was called Artemis Bridge Simulator, it was hecking fun when you could get everyone together to play it, the only problem was getting everyone into the same room to play it. I first played in in like... 2010ish? So no vr, it was just five laptops and a big tv for that front viewscreen verisimilitude. I think artemis got superseded by an open source version of the same thing, but as i said this was many years ago.
I never owned a wii, but my best mate at the time did. First time he calls me up to come check it out, he put the wii-mote through the telly. He buys a new Sony bravia when they first came out. His girlfriend changed that about an hour later. Exact same thing happened.
In reference to the VR, I've got a Quest 2, and while I can agree that a lot of the experiences are pretty short lived, I've had a handful of them that are absolutely amazing. Beat Saber is the obvious one, but there's also the Vader Immortal trilogy. While the actual story plot for them was pretty lackluster, the "Lightsaber Dojo" mode was an absolute blast. There's also "Drop Dead" which is a rail shooter, but you can co-op it with a friend and have a zombie shoot out. One of the other best experiences was "Robo Recall." You're fighting robots in a shooter, except you can grab the robots themselves and use them as shields or rip their limbs off by hand and throw them at their friends. It allowed you so much more freedom in how you deal with the robots attacking you, and it's an absolute ton of fun.
the 'hydraulic' style arcade games were great, remember playing one you sat semi reclined in a chair, both joystick and foot pedals. you were an anti aircraft gunner on a ship and as you aimed the turret around the chair moved appropriately (a good 180 degrees side to side and maybe +60 -10 vertically and had hella good vibration when you were firing. was great
Funny thing about being potentially dyspraxic, is that I've got enough self awareness about my utter lack of coordination that I always wear the wrist strap and Wii condom. It's almost certainly saved several TVs from being destroyed.
One of the Just Dance games has the final countdown, where one of the moves has you and a partner take turns rolling on the floor and jumping over each other
I had a friend who did the Rasputin song as 4 players by holding all the Wii remotes and sitting on the couch, I'm pretty sure he got 100% on at least one remote
Vrchat, the most played VR game on steam, has players purchase hundreds of dollars of full-body motion tracking equipment Just for the players to sit or lay down for 90% of their play time to talk with other people hundreds of miles away doing the same thing
Time Crisis (3 i think) actually had 2 gun 1 player mode as an option. I remember playing once. Luckily i had a old compatible lightgun (the game came bundled with the new light gun)
The only time I took off the wii mote protection stuff was for games like smash bros where you had to use it horizontally like a game pad. One side being so bulbous got uncomfortable real quick when you're doing timing specific inputs. The wii U was even worse of a gimmic though. Touch screen tech was already pretty good and yet they had to reinvent the wheel only for it to be rather shoddy. I don't understand how they legitimately thought having players constantly turn their attention from the big screen to a low res screen in your hands. Having to always tilt your head a full 90 degrees to check on info that could've been just on the one screen is even more bizarre.
Yeah. Great video. I agree about the touch screens in cars. Unless you rig it ul. My friends a technological engineering who served. He added some code to his and I small micro phone so he doesnt have to look away. He can just say skip song and a few other ghings to get it to do it.
I gott be honest though. Beating Resident Evil 4 one Wii was a really good experience. I felt accomplised after the game. Had to play that one with the pistol attachment too. Otherwise it got too difficult
An even bigger design flaw was how xbox 360 let people just stream to the xbox without confirmation being needed. My sister wouldnt stop beaming her youtube podcasts to my xbox and it would cancel out of my game. And she would do it multiple times a day
As a teenager i actually used the strap for my Wii remote but because I'm autistic it felt like it was cutting off circulation when tightened properly (it wasn't), meaning i wore the strap but not fully tightened. Playing Wii sports (i think) i once launched my controller across the room despite wearing the strap but SOMEHOW it missed the TV and just went above it slightly. I dont remember it it worked or not cos it smashed the wall hard but didnt shatter.
Console keeps reminding people, yet they didn't use the straps. Can't say anything for the sports periferals, who knows how well attached those are. 5:12 Okay how did the DOOR lose that encounter.
I have been feeling so annoyed by the change in start menu positioning, i have been using windows as a work machine for almost 30 years, and to change my workflow without any way to change it back has been screwing up a lifetime of muscle memory, and is the main reason i have not switched to windows 11. I am sure there are mods available to make it right and microsoft is trying to fight against those as it often does with new operating systems, usually that dies down and MS stops trying to force its choices on its users.
About the skateboarding if it is vert yes most do wear helmets and pads but for street skating it's a whole different thing. Should you for safety yes but do they no. I actually don't know of a street skater that does wear a helmet.
Innovation: We made the wii, it's the first motion controlled console and it sold like hotcakes Innovation under capitalism: [every single company makes their own motion controlled console]
In a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration they found that less than half of bicycle riders wear a helmet. They also found that of bicycle accidents 79% of fatalities are people not wearing helmets. There may be some other reason people who don't wear helmets die more frequently in bike accidents, but considering we know that bike helmets help protect from brain injuries when worn its a reasonable inference that it's the bike helmets that save lives.

This makes me feel like the only owner of a Wii in the world who didn't wear the wrist strap, but still never threw my Wii remote at the TV.
I never had that issue, but yeah, it seems almost universal that people threw at least one.
I dropped it once or twice, but never fucking launched it
I never broke my TV but oh boy that thing was a tank
I only wore the strap if I needed WM+ and I never owned skyward sword or Wii Sports Resort so I never played anything that needed those wide sweeping movements
Always strapped, I ain't risking shit. Wii was my first non shared console so I had to *_respect_* it!
I fucking love those videos where a guy will yell "Xbox go home!!" stand still for awhile and then go "No!"
never a broken screen, but have been punched by people standing too close in Wii Boxing a few times.
fun times .
I smacked the shit out of my cousin playing tennis 😂
Same, me and my sister would fuck each others shit up
I hit my cousin pretty hard while playing tennis
Squadrons had me grinning like a fool in the cockpit with my VR headset on. That was one of the moments where the medium really shone and could be done sitting down, so was pretty inclusive
That acorn bit when Peter pantsonfire talked about had me sooo hyped.
I adore when i open youtube and am immediately greeted by a new video from you lovely gents

I am SO HAPPY that I'm not the only one who's been begging for Steel Battalion VR
I love that society agreed that its called the wii condom

Never did any damage with a Wii, but a buddy rammed his head into my TV playing Superhot VR, and I've punched a wall a few times while goggled in.
There is an arcade game shooter that has sensors that allow you to dodge attacks, and it is terrible.

I got both my kids the Wii, the Kinect and meta quest but neither of them still use any of them. 😂❤
House of the dead with both controllers. Kids at the arcade would get pissed at me lol.
My tv was safe from wiimote yeeting because we wore the strap tho I have smacked my best friend and my sister while playing Wii sports tennis
The Trauma Centre game was awesome on wii.
36:11 so like voltron? It might be fun
Thankfully, I have never owned a Wii nor a set of VR Gogg’s so I’ve never had to experience the mishaps of either
I still use the plastation eye-toy.
Brilliant gizmo

2 minutes in, and I'm giggling
Laptop touch screens get annoying when you have dirt on it and try to whip it off, and boom just closed your game rip

Resident Evil 4 on the Wii is my favourite version of the game. Aiming with the wiimote is so much more precise than a mouse. The wiimote broke RE4.

Why have they not made a Nintendo power glove with motion controls?
The ps2 eye toy is more accurate than the kenect

I don’t understand why day 1 we didn’t get YuGiOh Vr from Konami
Guessing this video does not have more likes or views because people tried clicking on it with their motion sensitive remotes...
I only ever used the strap to literally spin it on my arm

A helmet on q Bike? We talking bicycles? Cus Like 18 million People will disagree

18 million people are wrong. Wear a helmet.
