If I remember my lore correctly the locust aren't natives but human miners who've been mutated by immulsion fumes which is why their queen is so human looking
You're pretty close. I can't remember the exact details, as it's been a hot minute since I played Gears 5, but if I remember correctly you're pretty close.
Kinda, they changed up the lore un later games. They were created in a lab. As rustlung spread among the miners, they were trying to create genetically modified humans that are immune to it. Myrrah was naturally immune, so they used her stem cells to enhance the others, this is why she's able to communicate with them remotely. After Myrrah's daughter Reyna was supposedly killed, she staged a riot and the locust broke out and started their own civilization.
So, you can play as RAAM in Gears 3 through the RAAM's Shadow dlc campaign. There are segments throughout it where player 1 is RAAM, player 2 is an elite Theron, and I THINK players 3 and 4 are elite Maulers.
For a while I was surprised that there wasn't a Gears of War based Wiki Weekends video released after the trailer but then got recommended this and realised how recent it had been talked about.
I don't remember which Gears of War it is, but you can interact with, for lack of a better phrase, the cut scenes. Or at least, some of them. I remember playing with a buddy and we got to this area where you clear out some enemies, a short cutscene plays where a door swings open and more come out. We kept having trouble with the second wave so I got the random idea to plant a grenade right next to the door before the cutscene started. Once it started, the grenade was in the cutscene and even blew up, taking some enemies out with it. All in the cutscene.
I don't remember having a problem with the krill. But I liked using locus weapons and the sniper while my friend at the time was all in with the lancer and pistol. I never got into multiplayer, but we did beat Horde Mode.
Raam is kinda funny, in the game he's just a violent brute who barely speaks, but in the books and novels he's one of the smartest generals and easily the best tactician in the entire locust civilization. He had the queen's ear even before leading the army.
My brother and I would have a tradition of playing the Gears of War trilogy every year because we love the games so much. Nothing can compare to the massive disappointment we felt when we played Judgment.
I remember when I play Team Deathmatch. When I'm the last remember of my squad and I either fight to the end or grab grenades. Let the enemy take me down. When the whole squad is around me and I self detonate.😂
I'm gonna go as off topic as the average fact fiend video, but it's still seventh gen gaming at least; my most nostalgic videogame (or very close) is midnight club los angeles. it's an arcade racer, which means it doesn't look anywhere near as good as forza, and doesn't have any simulation driving features. but not having that microsoft touch also means that it has personality. one of my favourite parts is the special abilities; not the abilities themselves, but the fact that the middle aged garage owner who is your mentor can teach you magic for street racing, and it's never explained. yeah, you can magically become immune to vehicle damage and not lose any momentum hitting cars. what of it? if any character commented on it being stupid, it would ruin it completely. the personality of the game is largely the characters (& soundtrack, but I don't have anything to say about the soundtrack other than it's got a bunch of licensed west coast rap, techno, some metal, and other good high energy stuff which fit racing), the ~20 racers are always trash talking and they have pretty one note personalities sometimes, but they're fun anyway. like the girl who's constantly dissing your ride, chung hee the edge lord, marcel (I would say his personality is he's french, but he does have a little personality surprisingly. he calls you mon ami and is a bit condescending. all of his rides suck but he puts up a mean fight when they're on the line.), joe, who's a chill guy who races muscles around the beaches, and doesn't trash talk he's just unabashedly nice. & then there's booke, whose personality is he acts cool & street-smart, & everyone thinks he's kinda lame anyway, because he is, but he's your first connection in the city. yeah, the gameplay is nothing special, but it's still fun.
I thought the Kryll were awesome then again I don't have a problem with slow parts in games sort of preferring slower games usually. It was a nice mix up and added some bad ass lore with a hint of a horror element. And it was just entertaining to shoot out the lights above two enemy soldiers and watch them get devoured
I never played gears of war, basically all I know about it comes from Egoraptor's Gears of Awesome animation. If you haven't seen it, just go do that. It's an experience.
The level of stupidity from some people who wield power.... Fuckin hell.... I truly hope for Ernest's sake that a member of his social team just hates him and is trying to make him fail.... Because if not.... Oh no....
Im ok with doing night based games, but I really do prefer games with actual color. For me whats most annoying is games that are set in the day and are just shades of brown. Even the night based games have some color under the lamps.
I feel like as early as gears 2 the games were getting more colourful, like i lived 'the hollow' in gears two, although i guess thats less so, colour, and more so the overall design of the area, also rock worms were cool and i wish they were in the other games Strong disagree, I fucking loved the krill! They were sick, but i can absolutely see why theyd be an absolutely massive pain in the ass The walk and talk was horrible, i have died to krill more times from walkntalk like that clip, thanni ever did from accidentally running in to the dark or something Also the fact that hammer of dawns are both the reason humanity is still alive, and the reason so few humans are alive, because in the first days of the locust war, when the locust attacked almost every city at once, they gained so much ground, that the C.O.G had all the cities they attacked, turned to ash, which temporarily halted the locust, didnt stop em, but it slowed em down a little,
Karl saying "it's like manual breathing or seeing the tip of your nose" was like an instant whiplash of frustration 😂
"Cole Train runs on wholegrain baby...WOOOOOO!!!"
Dizzy has my favorite line that I still say to this day. "I got your back like a butt crack"

Gears 3 had peak split-screen, me and my little brother played it soooo much.
All the xbox games got rid of couch co-op games and now they all suck becuase they are worried about online play.

i never understood how "fridge sized" is a phrase associated with big muscle men, a standard sized fridge isn't even that big.
hol up, killzone, especially 3 was absolutely gorgeous. lots of level variety.
"hidden" loading screens I only like the elevator conversations in Mass Effect even if my waifu has a shotgun
I think Killswitch on the PS2 invented the 3Rd person cover shooter genre
Hammer of dawn, what a metal ass name.
Love the Terry Tate clip!
Gears 2 was the lambent brumak

Gears of war would be better if the women were also big and muscular

That gravity shit is silly that would only make it worse. Go to Colorado and climb a foothill lol.
