When I see the chefs who have no idea what they’re doing try to pull rank on Ramsay, there’s a great Dalek line that springs to mind: “you make your incompetence sound like an achievement”
My favourite episode is the one where he sends every plate back empty. The food was amazing and he loved it and he just helped the owner/chef make it viable
@@bobspldbckwrds I actually did my own wiki dive and the place was doing amazing and had moved to a bigger location but the owner did start to go to some old habits but was able to right the course when it was shown how

As an American one of the things I've found most entertaining is that, I loved watching kitchen nightmares. Now that I work in a restaurant I LOVE watching kitchen nightmares because you notice a lot more than they get railed on for fucking up or before Gordon calls out their bullshit. The company I work for is fast food, but they're dedicated to ordering as much as possible from local farms. As much as possible is made in house or if its something we have such a high turnover of the product that they'll contract local businesses to make things like our Tortillas. When the family whom had owned the tortilla company for generations wanted to get out of the game, the company I work for bought them out so they could keep things as they were: Made fresh, with quality and local ingredients.
I still remember the small country inn where the chef was so upset. The owner demanded terrible recipes. The chef kept saying, 'i had to serve Ramsey that food. I'm so ashamed '
I worked a very short time in a small american diner while in school. It was pretty common slang to refer to the microwave as chef mike and now I want to know if that was common slang in american restraunts first or if that kitchen nightmares meme has given us the slang.
Honestly, that plate guy might have fun opening a Greek restaurant. Buying all the plates you want with the understanding that they're replacements for flatware that WILL be smashed probably takes the sting out of it.
The most memorable moment for me was the resturant where everything he tried to order wasn't available and when he finally got some food it was the saddest piece of meat in history. and there was only a piece of meat.
Another great clip for you Karl is the one where similar white hosts eat seasoned chicken and they cough but they love it and the one black host goes "does it taste like a neighbourhood you've never been to?" 😂 it slayed me
Ok finding out Lucas can cook makes me love him even more (not in that way lol)! I used to be a cook at a nightclub so anyone who can cook gets higher marks from me!
One of my favorite episodes I don't remember if it's kitchen nightmares or the one where Gordon Ramsay goes and stays at hotels but he goes into like a soul food kitchen and cleaned his plate because the lady can cook so good but the business itself was failing
The bit you showed about ramsey talking about maori reminds me of a hangi we had at school. Also if you go to Rotorua they use some of the thermal pools to cook because they can be that hot.
I’m an American who worked in the service industry in a tourist town so we dealt with a lot of Europeans from all over during our busy season. We would get in so much trouble if we just dropped off a check at a table unprompted for the same reason that we want people to enjoy their time and spend money. We could ask if they were ready for the bill, but I mostly liked to leave people alone unless their drink was running low. That being said, in most restaurants in the US it is so common to be pushy like that.
the word for being thrown through a window is "Defenesrated." Yes, it was so common in the past that they coined a word for it. Also, I really love Ramsay. But not for the same reason you do. I love Master Chef jr Ramsay where he's just so much fun and so kind to these kids. The thing is, you don't tell him you're a professional and then not be one. Oh and also you gotta remember how fake reality TV is.
Also, i started as a server in a local pizza/burger joint and made it into the kitchen after a few months. About 5 years later i was working for a large company in a casion as the head catering prep cook working under the chef who hired me. Schooling is amazing to have, but it doesnt get you ready for the real kitchen experience. Its not a slow environment. Especially when youre making 500 to 2000 plates of food.
I think that Karl would enjoy the show bar rescue. It’s similar to kitchen nightmares but for American bars. Admittedly it is just as dramatic as American kitchen nightmares but it’s really good
To be fair, Gordon did watch that Uncle Rodger video and improved his technique for chicken fried rice. And I think that in one of Uncle Rodger's most recent vids him and Gordon collabed.
As someone whos worked with someone who has a similar personailty to gordon in a kitchen, its also a huge ego thing. He gets super pissed when you disrespect him by not listening or acting like you know better, because he wouldn't be in your kitchen if you did. Its clear as hell when you watch him with kids, hes trying to nurture that love of cooking at a young age. When i worked with my chef i showed i was eager to learn, and willing to change how i did things. I messed up once, and his exact words were "no, youll do it how i just showed you" even though my way would of ended up with the same product. I figured out pretty fucking quick that it was because his way was way faster 😂. And i was super bummed when he left. Yeah he was hard on me, but not in a way that made me want to stop or quit. The dude who took over though is a fucking tool
From the way you’ve framed it, it looks like Henry Cavil suffers from the same thing that Ramsey does where he loves what he does so much when he want the product to be GREAT for those who love it, he get labelled “hard to work with” in-fairly
I honestly like Ramsey's kitchen nightmares better. Way too much TV now is people yelling for almost no reason, where the UK show is so calm and down to earth, great watch and highly recommend.
I'd spent a solid 8 months of unemployment just playing FFXIV and watching the American Kitchen Nightmares Nightmares, day-in and day-out, absolutely obsessed with the show. It's a shame that the Hotel Hell series never went beyond the first season (to my knowledge).
I was out with my girlfriend at a bar last night and she got served chicken that was raw in the middle! Then the replacement plate was so over cooked it was dry. It was breaded chicken jerky!
I prefer the British version. Screaming Gordon is too stressful to watch. I prefer teaching Gordon. That being said, my favorite episode was the American one in Scottsdale, AZ, when the owners just absolutely wouldn't listen to Gordon, and he finally said "fuck it" and walked away.
What episode did Gordon visit his own restaurant? I've been looking and I can't find it. I might just be dumb but if anyone knows that would be awesome!
The one criticism I have with Gordon Ramsey was that there was an episode where he was in a Cantonese kitchen and he was like "Why are they yelling all the time?!?" Dude, they're not yelling. They're just speaking Cantonese. It just sounds like yelling to you. Also, his takes on Chinese food tends to void the entire point of the food. For us, the way he cooks his Chinese food is like grilling lettuce. It's so bad, that you can literally see the lack of flavor through the screen.
As a chef if Gordon fucking Ramsay told me off, I’ll listen, and as a Cajun chef it blows my mind how people are surprised as food being seasoned…. That is how food should be! Food should have flavor, apparently as a Louisiana man I can make better fish and chips than any British pub.
When I see the chefs who have no idea what they’re doing try to pull rank on Ramsay, there’s a great Dalek line that springs to mind: “you make your incompetence sound like an achievement”
Not a Whovian, but there is logic in what you say
(Yea it’s what you think it is who heads)
The defenestration of chef Mike
Lol defenestration
My favorite word that I have learned over the past years.
yo that me

I remember that one. It was a soul food place that just needed a facelift.

Love the fact that Kitchen Nightmares was recommended to me from this video

I absoltutely love both of these shows, and re-watch them both regularly. Along with his other show, Hotel Hell.
Another great clip for you Karl is the one where similar white hosts eat seasoned chicken and they cough but they love it and the one black host goes "does it taste like a neighbourhood you've never been to?" 😂 it slayed me
The best episodes are where the chef isn’t the problem and it’s the equipment

37:24 Because the fat fryer was full? 😂
Its been so long since i saw Chef Mike that i forgot, but had no hesitation Ramsey got so pissed at an American chef he would defenestrate him.
One of my favorite episodes I don't remember if it's kitchen nightmares or the one where Gordon Ramsay goes and stays at hotels but he goes into like a soul food kitchen and cleaned his plate because the lady can cook so good but the business itself was failing
The day I've been waiting for. A Gordon Ramsey episode!!!
The bit you showed about ramsey talking about maori reminds me of a hangi we had at school. Also if you go to Rotorua they use some of the thermal pools to cook because they can be that hot.
I love the way you talk about the things you love. Awesome 😂
My favourite moment is when that one chef goes of on the owner who hes been friends with since school and Gordon just stands in silence

I think the only time I've seen Gorden annoyed is when he lost in a fish pie making contest with James May
I am more than a little disappointed that there is apparently not a powers and abilities section
Power: To summon hell itself when someone insults his sous chefs on Hell's Kitchen

I went down a rabbit hole of Kitchen Nightmare and it was both entertaining and depressing.
_Never again._

Karl has already done an entire video on it here before haha.

Exasperated. What a great word.
When a British guy is seasoning his food better than you, you f’ed up.
My favorite Gordon moment is the grilled cheese
Chicken is the food of gods.

Good as Nightmares is, I love Restaurant Impossible a shade more.

Technically 3 different kitchen nightmares because they revived the series in 2023
Chef mike

How the f*** do you eat chicken without any seasoning

Board of health standards have dropped off so much in the last 15 years. Boh inspectors are fighting a losing battle.
What do you think of the recent new season of KN
100th like woohoo
RUclips teaches you a lot about american values. The thumbnail of half of the videos are people over reacting with over the top titles.
That’s not American values that’s what the algorithm is feeding you 😂😂
