It would have been nice to see you struggle with a bolt that is not pre loosened like yours in the video. most crank pulley bolts are super stuck and require other means of loosening.
That is the Crankshaft Pulley Bolt that I am removing and it is supposed to be torqued to 29-36 foot pounds. The gland nut is on the fly wheel and it is torqued to 250 foot pounds.
If the key is pushed out the pulley want go all the way on. Make sure the key way on the pulley is smooth and put some oil on it. But the main thing is to take your time. Thank you for watching.
You make it look so simple! Now on day two trying to remove that bolt!

Excellent video. Doing mine in the morning. Thank you!
Great video. Tx for doing this.
So how do you crack off the gland nut if it is actually torqued on there to spec?

How did u know the key was pushed out? I did my generator one and it was a nightmare to get the key in? Can u check it after? I have a split

Could you do a video of charging points ? I have an electric module inside mine and if it goes I’ll put points and condenser back on
I have a video on changing the points on my channel. How to change the points on 1972 VW Super Beetle
Do you need to remove the enigine oil before taking off the pulley?
No you don’t need to drain the oil before removing pulley.
Any torque Spec for the pulley bolt?
Tight.
Nice job. Make sure to tighten up that fan belt a little bit.
Would you remove shims to do that?
@@tospicy4ya Yes, remove shims from between the pully on the generator halves to tighten the belt.
Not too stiff, otherwise you’ll burn out generator. There’s suppose to be a little play on these.
Thx
Good video, thanks for posting. Is your motor a 1600? And what carb and distributor are you running?
Thanks for watching. It is a 1972 super beetle with a 1600 engine. The carb is a 34 pic3 and the distributor is a Bosch 009.
@@ajsbeetles8735 Cool deal. I've got a '73 Super, stock 1600 running a 34 Pict with a Pertronix SVDA. You've got a new subscriber.
