I'm very happy that you made a space nation based on southeast Asia. Even programmes like Star Trek, which portray a multicultural future, are still effectively America or Britain in space.
15:50 Antares confederacy: we have declared war Antares citizens: *proceeds to riot and cause more damage than the war itself* GTU: we have declared war GTU citizens: yes
Honestly, you've done more than succeed. The world building and roleplaying we've accomplished in the Discord and the sense of attachment each of us has to our various nations, and their unique character, are amazing. I've never been part of anything like this before in nearly 20 years of text-based and system-based roleplaying, and I'm still as excited about it now as I was when the first stream debuted. You've done a great thing here Marc, and I can't wait to see this through to the end.
The Antares confederacy in my opinion has already succeeded in being its own. Of course some are still stuck on the GTU mindset, while some are trolls. As seen in the stream chat whenever there is one. My only concern is that the geography of the colonist are too numerous that. Naming any small thing devolves into a battle of who's words in a language should be used, or the name of famous person from this or that region gets in. It was addressed but there's still debate among the fans and watchers.
The Antares Confederacy has been a great experience for the Senate over on Discord. It's the reason why I joined the server, and I dearly hope for official Templin content to use some of the lore that Senators have created.
The only noticeable issue for me about the Antares Confederacy is it's ridiculously absurd population growth. Beyond that; the design, layout, and aesthetics of the Antares Confederacy is quite grounded, believable, and enjoyable. It is obvious a great amount of skill and effort went into creating it. (Seriously though, for the Antares Confederacy to go from 4 million [At least 1/3 of the original colonists most likely died on the failed colonies] to 1.32 billion in the span of 210 years would require an average fertility rate of 6 children per EVERY women. [This assuming all the children live long enough to 6 children of their own]. Really don't see that happening in a post-industrial society, especially in during the strifeful early period in the development of the Antares republics. Then again most people will probably not notice this. So it's more of a personal nitpick than anything. Still great overall.
@@JosephVozzo ; Yeah, early-game, but not before game start, which is when I talking about, which is after those first 210 years. Plus Marc has repeatedly said in the streams that the Antares Confederacy is not a fan of cloning.
Since this is a year late, I won't be surprised if you don't remember... but where did you get that child rate? My own math shows a much more reasonable 3 - 4 children per woman. Still high, but a lot more feasible for an average, I think.
At the very least, the House is pretty divided on what the future of the Confederacy should be: it's kind of split between Pacifist, Militarist, and Xenophile, which might be interesting in the future when it comes time to deal with Earth.
Sounds realistic, colonist are also motivated by the situation at home. I don’t think any western people would want to live their place for an underdevoloped new place, unless they are adventurers.
The world-building, creative design, concept art and backstory to the Antares Confederacy is so good I honestly hope this gets picked up by a streaming service and made into a tv series. I'm getting some Battlestar Galactica vibes, Expanse vibes, even bit of Lucasian Star Wars in there. Yet it's still very much its own original and unique thing and I'm loving all these videos!
The use of Latin might be the closest analogue to a unifying heritage they can find as none of the major cultures in the Earhart flotilla have a common Empire ancestry, the exception is in fact the Muslims, not just through the ancient Caliphates but also in fact through the Roman Empire which many modern Muslim nations like Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia were once a part of. And the choice of going with a dead language like Latin instead of say a commonly used one like Arabic might be a compromise to avoid favouritism and pissing off the large groups of African heritage which would be majority Christian, and the Buddhist East Asians. The only other possible dead language I could think of to use for uniting symbolism is Sanskrit from India, But Indians weren't a large contingent of the Earhart flotilla, and Sanskrit's links to Hinduism might offend the many Muslims in the Antares.
Someone in the original leadership must have been a fan of Roman history, so probably came up with that one reference and it just stuck and became a theme over time. I think some reference from India may make more sense thematically (it is where Buddhism and Islam overlap irl), but it's not like people from other parts of the world can't be European history nerds.
So far loving the lore and faction concept. I was afraid we'd get another space 'murica but you managed to get a fantastic blend of cultures and the effects of space isolation on those cultures.
@@manticorephoenix They both have their charm. I loved the GTU due to how different it is to other heroic factions in sci-fi. They are basically the dark and evil authoritarian government that you see in a lot in cyberpunk genre or in rebellion/hero space movies. But it isn't that. It simply reflects human nature, fears, and history. Generally through out the time we had government, democracy and liberty were not the norm, but the exception. Even today democracy like the US isn't normal. So it makes since as to why it was so easy for most of the world would give it up after the Tyrum invasion. But the culture of the world isn't completely the same. Each and every commissariate and subsequent colony of any commissariate are based on a region of the world that founded it. So the cultures and beliefs of the world aren't actively being suppressed by the government. The GTU even makes attempts to assimilate new species and races and not to just outright destroy them. (Tyrum excluded) Also the Conquest of the Wessari wasn't seen in an all too positive light by the GTU citizens and a marshal had to step down. That means with all its shortcomings, leaders can still be held accountable for their actions by their citizens. Not like the empire in star wars.
@@manticorephoenix What I love about the Antares Confederacy is the untapped potential. Like was said, the major cultures and ideals that are represented in space sci-fi seem to be more western in nature. (For the hero factions anyway.) Society, political and military doctrine; western even American values. With more villainous factions being based on the run of the mill dictatorships. The east is horribly under represented when it comes to these things. It's like they expect they wouldn't want to play a factor in space colonization if it became available. They would.
@@marrqi7wini54 oh I remember when the GTU Annexed the Wessari, I wasn’t supportive of making them slaves under the Union but the decision was quickly amended, I loved all the lore making the world more malleable towards adopting a totalitarian state after the devastation, and the losses and triumphs
@@marrqi7wini54 I think that the disproportionate representation of eastern cultures in sci fi stories does stem from not many eastern sci fi writers or creators being either known or shown, of course people in the west have tried but it’s often from creators who didn’t take a deep enough approach, maybe cause they didn’t actually live there or another factor, but I think the effort made should be acknowledged, and criticized constructively. I’m not saying writing for Antares is easy, but Marc gave the series a path to chart, it’s a new set of worlds, the people chosen to colonize would logically have been people willing to cast off animosity’s they grew up around so as to not carry it to another planet, and that is where the potential was born for me. 200 years after landfall and a concerted effort at blending cultures and people’s, the possibilities for new languages, customs, faiths, ideas, are incredible
As a Muslim I am greatly honored knowing that the religion is getting much more attention and even being put forth into such an interesting theology as this. I'm sure many Muslims out there also have their thoughts spinning in imagining what would our religion be in the setting as interesting as the Antares Confederacy itself; such as how the prayer rituals would be, what would be the new norms and taboos and such, and so on. Looking forward on what's to come in the lore of the nation!
Can you please make a proper Stellaris Invicta season 2, Antaeus Confederacy playlist? Also, I love the sheer stupidity of the CSA. "Oh, our previous nation was f**ked over by a hybrid confederate system? Let's do it again!"
@@scotticusmaximus5558 Well yes, obviously. Plot armor certainly helps with that. However, unlike the CSA, the member states are ACTUAL nations, and not some kind of hybrid between state and nation like the CSA.

Love videos like this that show insight into making a faction for worldbuilding. Greate video to listen to on my birthday. And I did a quick little digging for 10:06 as to why green isn't common in flags. From what I can tell, it basically suffers from the same issue as purple in that it's hard and expensive to produce and use. As well, most modern flags trace their lineage from older designs, dating back to a time where yeah, basically green is a true rarity.
I'm actually really excited you decided to go with a more Asian/African/Middle Eastern theme for this run. The last Stellaris Invicta campaign had an Anglo/Western influence and it was great, but I'd also love to see how one with a less used theme (at least, here in the west!) plays out as well. The change up adds flavor and variety, I dig it. (The last Sci-Fi series with heavier eastern influences that was well known that I can think of was probably Firefly. Expanse does a good job of incorporating more perspectives but doesn't really focus on any one perspective much)
Although I disagree about bulking on cliched world building. I am fascinated by the attempt to be so different; that the events in game forces you to concede to it. I await on how the role play goes in future episodes and how you will have to change to fit the games mechanics.
I've loved the second season of Invicta so far. If there are any critiques that I could make, however, I would say that more could be shown on the relationship of the various republics of the Confederacy towards one another, their agreements, disagreements, etc. Maybe this factor is present for those who interact on the discord, but for someone like me who is only really able to follow the series either on Twitch or through the episodes on RUclips, it seems that these relationships have been somewhat lacking, taking a back seat as it were to the other storylines such as the struggles of the Moya Pact wars. In future episodes, I would love if we could hear more about these interactions between the republics, and draw upon the huge reserve of lore that I've heard the community has been creating. Antares is a confederacy, and it would be great to have this reminder in the videos. Keep up the good work, it's doing great so far, and I can't wait to see where the Confederacy goes next!
I must admit this is a nice look into the though process behind what I've burned my free time into for the last two months. On a separate note entirely as someone who has no intentions for stopping that hobby: At the moment the senate's soft lore includes at least four border conflicts (3 Retiva v Jut Fareed + 1 Rhumbdara v Chengatai) and an insurgency war lasting just shy of 30 years (Sabmadi v "what became a part of Sabmadi in the 140s when the war ended"). Episode 1 has the line "since the arrival of the Earhart flotilla, no military unit had ever fired a shot in anger"... I admit the issue there is rather stark. I'm Sabmadi and we're thinking of playing that war as a game, so to speak, and we'd rather not play a couple weeks worth of our mediocre attempt at "Kriegspiel meets Diplomacy" just to have it wiped clean because we mistakenly glossed over 5 seconds of audio from before we realised what implications it could have for us and didn't check with the voice of authority first. So, if you could, we'd love to have a hard "yes or no" on if we're allowed to have that sort of thing in soft-lore or not. If you do say no it'll be interesting to watch Chengatai have a minor identity crisis if nothing else. (We've even come up with a loophole if needed: the Pioneers predate any and all of the republics so it might have been phrased that way to include them when talking about the Confederate Military not all militaries in Antares). Either way: Great video, it genuinely was interesting to get a look behind the scenes and you've done great work so far even if us in the Senate might have our personal disagreements with half of it
Yeah, I think the key word here is "military". Simply fight the war using non-professional forces (militias, guerillas, mercenaries) and Bob's your uncle.
This is the kind of worldbuilding that elevates Stellaris Invicta. As someone who loves worldbuilding and tries to write interesting things I have deep respect for the work you do :D
I think the less-than-perfect government structure of Antares Confederation is what give it its charm. It barely occurred to me how too perfect GTU ever was until I saw the Antares prologue.
@MiketheLord ah yes, those morally grey concentration-camps and ethnic clensing they have over there. Theres alot wrong with america too, alot, but atleast we arent purging a minority population for being the wrong ethnicity.
I know this is late, but this is incredible. The collective boon of this series is splendid, a true grand world building design in a sci-fi space fairing series like Stellaris is great. I'm just glad there will be a season 3 of Stellaris Invicta later in the years to come.
I feel like a great time could be had with the more origins mod, specifically the 'house divided' origin, with lots of small stellar nations derived from one species, doubly so if you could find a way to edit the stellar nations so you could control them a bit; just a thought XD
Thank you so very much! Antares is my first roleplay and I absolutely love it! I love the atmosphere, the non conventional ways. It all fits together perfectly! Forward Antares!
Can you do a series of videos of the Sci Fi universe of Farscape? It's a rich galaxy with excellent world buliding, factions, and characters like Scorpius.
It’s a very unique and fascinating society you crafted, excited to see more episodes and it was especially entertaining to watch the collab with citywokcitywall
I'm glad you made it so different, and after seeing the first few episodes of the Antares Confederacy I feel like it's better than if we got the Sol Empire or something.
The GTU and the Antares Confederacy are definitely different - different backstories, different governments, different enemy factions. I'm actually interested in the mystery of the lost colony and seeing Antares face off against the aliens controlling the Terran Protectorates. Anyway, I'm enjoying Season 2 so far. I can't wait to see where the Antares Saga will go and how it ultimately ends.
When The Templin Institute announced that they are making a season two and the contestants, I wanted the United Terran Protectorates or the Holy Solar Empire to win. Because I felt like the other contestants were to much like the G.T.U. or like most western style Sci Fi media. And when I saw that the Antares Confederacy won the polls I was a little sad but thanks to this video I have become to admire it for being more unique than its western counter parts. to that end I thank The Templin Institute for making this world building unique, different, and interesting. I cannot wait to see how the Antares Confederacy's "Hero's Journey" will take place and how it will change at the end of season two.
Love this channel and the Antares Confederacy is the best thing the Templin Institute has done so far. The world building rivals that of the major sci fi franchises. The story of cosmic castaway colonists forced to seperate to survive in a strange trinary system to then come together again to pursue a common goal has me incredibly invested. That, and the secrets and mystery of their new home make me want to enlist in the Pioneer Corps. Keep up the good work.
I came into this world far behind it's developmental process and have no idea how I can be involved. Having said that; this an absolutely fascinating universe. I was hooked immediately. I read a lot, play one on-line game and RUclips pushes my comfort zone on social media stuff. If something doesn't grab me it's gone. Not this. You all have done an amazing and impressive creative job. Now I see my task as researching all the various members of the Confederacy so I understand who they are and trying to keep up.
I am really enjoying watching the Stellaris streams, thank you! My only suggestion is that up to this point the lore of each nation in the confederacy, or the fact that it is a confederacy, doesn't seem too prominent in the gameplay. Only example of the use in the gameplay is the confederacy civic. One example of how to incorporate a confederacy in the gameplay is using related governor, sectors or planets with the same specialization with particular nations. For example, generator worlds can be part of one nation. Once systems are split by nation, using some defense fleets named on a specific nation to protect that nation's systems could cause some really interesting gameplay. This could cause some fun inefficiencies and drama of certain fleets not always defending other Antares nations if their home system is under any sort of threat!
I rooted for the GTU because it was a badass antihero on a mission of revenge. I root for the Confederacy because it's hot mess and a loveable goofball with a heart of gold. Yes they fuck up and can barely fight a war, but damn it they're trying!
This is the right reason to explore other cultures in fiction. Not for moralistic posturing or pushing personal politics, but out of a genuine interest to explore how cultural history could influence development, and ultimately tell a good story. Really enjoying the Antares Confederacy.
I love the ideas behind the Antares Confederacy! One thing that grabbed my attention is how you set out to craft a distinctly non-Western take on a human federation expanding across the galaxy because a typically Western vision of space colonization has been done to death. This brought me back to an idea I had when the five choices for Season 2 were first announced: for the United Federation of Planets, instead of a generic, idealistic liberal democracy like the vanilla United Nations of Earth, do a corrupted version of that idea, a nation that _pretends_ to be an idealistic crusader for freedom, democracy, and liberal ideals but is really an arrogant, jingoistic bully that uses those ideals as justification for an imperial agenda. Instead of America in Space, make it 'Murica in Space -- perhaps with some added flavor from the British and French colonial empires, if you want to make the comparisons to the US less obvious. Killing two birds with one stone, it would also make for a grim justification for how Western forms and culture are the default among humanity: they were imposed on everyone else through economic hegemony, cultural imperialism, and gunboat diplomacy. (Any references to certain real-life US Presidents are purely optional and may be treated as purely coincidental.)
I've actually played around with a story idea similar. After WW3 and the Treaty of Disavowment which all but neutered the losing nations up to permanently dissolving and breaking up Russia, the remaining superpowers first preceded to blow up after their war time economies crashed amd they finally had to deal with reconstruction, resource conflict, and the fallout from the unpopular war and conclusion, but once they began to reassert themselves the New Allies loosely formed the DSC: the Dominant Superpower Coalition. Not exactly western Imperialism only due to a Greater India Alliance, 2nd South Africa, reconstructed Baltic/Polish power bloc, ASEAN, and some others being key members but still. The whole project is meant to be a pretty dark and depressing future akin to "Cyberpunk but more about Politics" with Lunar militarization, Martian Conflicts, The EU trying to become the EF during the reconstruction period but falling apart due to nationalist movements (mostly out of fear of German domination) and resource wars between member states and then eventually City-State alliances until a hardcore Militant group takes over and holds elections to form the European Union State, a dozen Mediterranean countries failing into complete anarchy, two Warring Egyptian states, and a general mess all over the world
I would really like to see some stories of life in each of the republics. Stellaris and any other contemporary sci fi is so grand in its scale, sometimes we forget how it will be to live in that.
I mean as great as it is i feel like elements from South America were, once again, pushed to the side in favor of Africa and Asia. Most of the flags, from what i could tell, were based heavily on flags from those regions,as was culture and architecture. I rarely see any reference to the Latin-Catholic patch of land we call South America. Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Venezuela, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, the Guianas.... outside of memes these places are largely forgotten, and even in your series i feel like they are. You've done a good job with the African/Southeast Asia part of the series but plz include SA and it's culture and nomenclature more please.
The origins have a slight similarity to a World supplement for the RPG GURPS Space, called *Unnight,* the difference being that they had stayed low tech- ish by the time the players stumble across the system. In the late 21st (or early 22nd?) century the fate of marginalised tribes around the World is a minor controversy in the UN. So to "solve" the issue a few old nuclear drive cargo ships are retrofitted with hyperdrives, and with cargo pods full of Cryo tubes and a manifest of Pigmes, Andes, Tamiles, Kurds ect (all the peoples that are getting slowly wiped out, if they're a Human Rights issue, they're in) and all the gear and "experts" to start a new colony. Of course the experts were second stringers and so forth. Oh and being the UN, someone passed a motion that _Esperanto_ was to be the official language of the fleet. So the inevitable happened and the fleet (nav computers locked together) mis jumped _badly,_ and ended up in a distant hidden system in a nebula. The big difference with Antares, it turns out it's a artificial system that was created by super precursors, and the colony runs into trouble due to unexpected setbacks and bad luck (a local virus eats their bio engineered building materials, and a important shuttle crashes) - and a minor mutiny amongst some of the crew, and they lose their high tech (except for a secret society from the surviving scientist that now pretends to be wizards). And to top it off, the giant computer network the Aliens built uses a psychic interface, and the thought waves of a scared Human wandering alone at night just happen to resemble those of one of the builders species making a request for holographic information… oops. But culturally it's a interesting mix, composed of all the groups of Earth that were either indigenous peoples or ethnic groups that were the targets of someone bigger.
The like to dislike ratio says a lot. You may not have made us love Antares as much as the GTU but you certainly made something vastly unique and interesting none the less
So for season 3 I'd think it'd be fun to dive into a humanity that has fallen from grace, either by nuking themselves or being destroyed by an alien nation and forced back to earth
"Why isn't green used more in flags?" It's likely because it's an expensive color for dyes. Red and blue are relatively cheap by comparison, which is why you have a lot of flags with a red, white, and blue combination.
You guys should make a tv, comic, or movie series of this! You guys have a huge fan base and merch, if you make something like a prequel comic when the settlers first appeared to the foundation of the Confederacy. With that you could get a bigger fan base and more money from the comics. The next phase could be an animated series on the state of the confederacy detailing minor to major events! You guys have more diversity and creativity to your government than any other series, it does not follow any trope you find in most sci-fi series!
I wonder if there are ways to make new type of ethnicities as well being on Alien worlds, i know Stellaris is limited on species, and the colonies are probably still two new for things like to happen, but being on Alien world and how one would adapt on it would be an interesting concept to play on.
Tbh, I love the attention to detail with all of your work, especially the Stelaris Invicta series. Marc, how have you not written a sci-fi book series by now? You possess such talent, and I'm glad to bear witness to it on this channel, but damn would you write a good book! Also the mention of the lore of the individual Republics reminds me that I still need to figure out which one I want to join and represent in the Discord Senate lol.
Honestly I thought the relationship between religions and the confederacy attempt to remember, and maintain what knowledge of the home is borderline genius. The first citizens of Antares I my mind at least would have very few history books, much less a library of historical documentaries and first hand accounts, and all the things you would need to not only remember their home but understand it too. But what books they did have where religious books. Books belongs to individual colonist who now had in their hands the most complete and most reliable sores of history of earth. I would make sense a nation of scared and desperate and lost people's would cling on to any memory of home.
It’s really strange to me that the US wasn’t listed as one of the inspirations of the AC. The struggle to balance state vs federal power was famously been the biggest influencer of the development of its government (and is in constant debate to this day). I mean right down to specific points like the two halves of parliament, one being based on population proportions and the other an equal number, to please both large and small republics, is an exact replica of how the US government started. And clearly the democratic crusader / nation of immigrants style that it took as the series went on is also based on the US (I think the phrase “arsenal of democracy” was even used multiple times), but to be fair it seems like this video was made before the campaign really developed. I don’t doubt that the three inspirations you did list are true (especially since the CSA was kind of an offshoot of the centralized vs decentralized struggle in the US as a whole, and the EU is basically (a group of) United States on an international level (can’t speak for early Canadian government but I know it had heavy British influence)), but with so many specific details in just the prologue video being so obviously similar to the foundations of early American government, I just can’t believe it wasn’t a major inspiration. Regardless, I loved the series, you guys are incredibly talented writers and the emotional translation of gameplay to story just confirms how good of a story telling art form even “non-story” games can be. Also it just makes me want to play stellaris even more lol. Can’t wait for season three!
I already feel that the Antares confederacy is far richer and much more interesting than the GTU ever was. And while I do like the series, I feel that the Antares system itself gets far too little interest. there are still some mysteries in that system that haven't yet been fully explored.
"I [recruit name] do solemnly swear my allegiance to the Antares Confederation and willing submission to the will of those lawfully placed above me." (The influence of the Muslims informs the wording of the last half of the line. Out of respect for the beliefs of their other colonists, all references to particular gods or God were not included into the oath.) "Upon my honor and the honor of my House, the entire Confederation is now my Tribe. I enter now into a vast fellowship and all who march under the flag of Antares are my brethren." (Family honor is a big thing in many constituent components of the Confederation. The wording of "Tribe" is both invocative of the African heritage of the Confederacy and to avoid any mention of "Republic" or "Nation".) "I shall forsake all personal glory, wealth and comfort. My honor shall be that of the Confederacy; the defense of Her people and the upholding of Her values." (The Buddhist influence in rejecting the temptation of the material world) "In honor of the Expedition, I shall brave the unknown. In memory of the Lost Colonies I shall endeavor. To live up to the example of the Pioneers, I shall display dauntless courage even in the face of death." (Touchstones to the shared events in the founding of the Antares Confederacy) "May this oath bind me until I join our ancestors in the stars."
I think seeing a Western based nation within Antares as the underdog would have been really interesting. Because you're right, the UNSC, Federation, Earth Alliance, 12 colonies, etc. are all basically America in Space. But cutting out the West completely probably wasn't the best decision.
The contrast between the Antares Confederacy and the GTU is really interesting
Im loving it too. And i love i can get into both
The confederacy is so much more interesting, I just wish Marc had kept the military experience he learned in Season 1

That's true though. You make a good point.
Stellaris had cloning vats as a pretty early tech.
@@JosephVozzo oh, I didn't know that. Did they?
I really like the idea of an Asian African space confederacy. I live in south east Asia and I love to see my region getting recognized in sci-fi.
Question: why does a majority Muslim-Buddhist nation with minimal Western influence use Latin mottos? How does the lore make that work?
The roman Republic is probably a very good organisation to symbolicly connect antarus with because of the ideals displayed in that moment.
So far loving the lore and faction concept. I was afraid we'd get another space 'murica but you managed to get a fantastic blend of cultures and the effects of space isolation on those cultures.
He said that from the beginning of season one that that’s the one thing he didn’t want to do, the GTU and AC is a refreshing take
@@manticorephoenix
They both have their charm.
(Tyrum excluded)
Also the Conquest of the Wessari wasn't seen in an all too positive light by the GTU citizens and a marshal had to step down. That means with all its shortcomings, leaders can still be held accountable for their actions by their citizens. Not like the empire in star wars.
@@manticorephoenix
What I love about the Antares Confederacy is the untapped potential.
Let's do it again!"
it will be fine cause its THEIR hybrid confederate system

Keep up the good work, it's doing great so far, and I can't wait to see where the Confederacy goes next!
yea I dont know why they dont talk about the nations more, as someone who is active on the discord it should be shown a lot more
If you go to the Sagallo currier Twitter page everything they retweet is canon.
While I do hope that they do, as a member of that senate I will say. You poor poor soul you do not know what it is you ask.
Either way: Great video, it genuinely was interesting to get a look behind the scenes and you've done great work so far even if us in the Senate might have our personal disagreements with half of it
"shot in anger" doesn't mean that they haven't fired on accident or maybe you fight through proxies or non-military units (such as mercs).
I loved how you pulled the starting citizens from Africa and Asia!!

I think the less-than-perfect government structure of Antares Confederation is what give it its charm. It barely occurred to me how too perfect GTU ever was until I saw the Antares prologue.

Your stellaris series has given me some of the best inspiration to publish my own science fiction lore series.
I can't wait to see what you do next.
This is such a cool concept. I need a movie series about this. I may even read a book series about it.
I think You have done a great job, however, I never got the feeling or impression that the confederacy was on the verge of splitting
Forward Antares!
I absolutely love the idea of the Pioneers. I guess it must be something about their hybrid between exploration and militarism.
Forward Antares!
The whole project is meant to be a pretty dark and depressing future akin to "Cyberpunk but more about Politics" with Lunar militarization, Martian Conflicts, The EU trying to become the EF during the reconstruction period but falling apart due to nationalist movements (mostly out of fear of German domination) and resource wars between member states and then eventually City-State alliances until a hardcore Militant group takes over and holds elections to form the European Union State, a dozen Mediterranean countries failing into complete anarchy, two Warring Egyptian states, and a general mess all over the world
>"No western names"
>"Earhart"
I remember telling people Antares was Space Canada, and being told I was talking crazy. I feel vindicated.
Please do for the lore next: The Cascadian Republic (Project wingman)
yes i has my dubte but watching this make me love Antares even more
The origins have a slight similarity to a World supplement for the RPG GURPS Space, called *Unnight,* the difference being that they had stayed low tech- ish by the time the players stumble across the system.
It's because the Antares Confederacy is so different to what you mostly get in sci fi is what makes so drawn to it.
I love the Antares Confederacy so much more than the GTU tbh, great job!
I honestly just got into this series today and I'm loving it so far!
does anyone else just really like the background music they use. It really makes the videos even better
I admire the flag design for the Antares Confederacy. I can see that a lot of thought was given into it.
Very thoughtful you’re an excellent world builder.
I never knew the Templin Institute was from Canada! As a fellow Canuck, that's awesome.
When I first saw the flag of Thanh-Jenal, I thought that it was for a colony with German heritage

Awesome name

Can we have more in this series please really enjoyed them. The first was my favourite the greater union
"I [recruit name] do solemnly swear my allegiance to the Antares Confederation and willing submission to the will of those lawfully placed above me."
(The influence of the Muslims informs the wording of the last half of the line. Out of respect for the beliefs of their other colonists, all references to particular gods or God were not included into the oath.)
"Upon my honor and the honor of my House, the entire Confederation is now my Tribe. I enter now into a vast fellowship and all who march under the flag of Antares are my brethren."
(Family honor is a big thing in many constituent components of the Confederation. The wording of "Tribe" is both invocative of the African heritage of the Confederacy and to avoid any mention of "Republic" or "Nation".)
"I shall forsake all personal glory, wealth and comfort. My honor shall be that of the Confederacy; the defense of Her people and the upholding of Her values."
(The Buddhist influence in rejecting the temptation of the material world)
"In honor of the Expedition, I shall brave the unknown. In memory of the Lost Colonies I shall endeavor. To live up to the example of the Pioneers, I shall display dauntless courage even in the face of death."
(Touchstones to the shared events in the founding of the Antares Confederacy)
"May this oath bind me until I join our ancestors in the stars."
I hope that even if it takes place after the season would be to have a Antares civil war or some sort of conflict over internal division.
I think seeing a Western based nation within Antares as the underdog would have been really interesting. Because you're right, the UNSC, Federation, Earth Alliance, 12 colonies, etc. are all basically America in Space. But cutting out the West completely probably wasn't the best decision.
This would make a great book series. Or a series of book series.
I'm loving the society of Antaris it's a beautiful mess. I think it's a great place and getting better with more lore drops.
