As the Speaker tried to regain order, Torrin began chuckling to himself, muttering "two lists" before laughing to himself. "Tor? What are you doing?" Rookatu asked. His alien eyes analyzed his old friend. They had served in the Pioneer Corps, a lifetime ago. Now they served in a different way. Torrin looked at his friend. "Remember three years ago when you said we couldn't beat the Skrek militarily and I agreed with you?" Rookatu nodded. "Well, it seems that the skrek disagree with you. Fellow citizens of the Confederacy: Antares is a great nation, one which started by accident. Antares only exists by the will of an anomaly, a small incident. And yet, it has come to encompass much of the galaxy, as much through the strength of its armies and fleets as by the truth there is to its ideals. Ideals of liberty, democracy, and equality, for all. In our nation, every citizen can live the life of their choice, without worries of economic affairs. Finally, they are truly free. And yet, there has always been one concern, one which was born before the confederacy itself. An ancient race of advanced beings had unleash a terrible war of extermination upon the home world of the first individuals who settled the Antares system, and the few humans that were left were brainwashed, and enslaved. Now, they are captives, within a prison most are too blind to see. But the Screk were not content to stay within their own borders, nor in those of their client states. They commanded they loyal and dutiful slaves to expand in their name, bringing dozens of new systems, and billions of new beings under their heel. And, some how, not even that could satisfy their hunger for power. They have been behind all major terrible events in recent years: they hacked Terran AIs to unleash a brutal war of extermination upon their own slaves, and turned our own former allies -the Cloister- against us. But these actions could not be beared anymore. By means that I cannot explain to you, our diplomats were granted a meeting with the Screk. The brightest diplomats and most advanced Artificial Intelligences were put to work, to foresee every possible single outcome to that meeting, ranging from their complete surrender to an immediate declaration of war. But none of the quadrillions of possible outcomes played out. Instead, after days of silence by their mocking reactionary aristocrats, we were handed over two lists. Files so gargantuan that it took hours for the most advanced computer in the universe to read them. Among them, was everything within our confederacy: every star system, planet, colony, asteroid, ship, building, down to every single one of *you*, citizens. One of the lists was “what would leave”, and the other “what would remain”. In essence, it was nothing short of an ultimatum: hand the Screk over all that belongs to the confederacy, save for the Antares Miasma and the stars and planets within it, or face annihilation. We were told that it would be a one-of-a-kind offer, that no nation -starfaring and not alike- across space and time had ever been given a chance to exist as it saw fit, albeit in isolation. The Screk, in their mocking fashion of looking down their upon all else that is in the universe, were thoroughly convinced that we would accept. That we would acquiesce to giving up our ideals and people. That we feared them. But they were wrong. We will not give up our people. Not without a fight. If the price for our so-called “arrogance” will be extermination, we will gladly pay it. But, should the Screk ever come to realise they had underestimated Antares and her allies, they will not be able to cancel such a mistake. We will hunt down the last of their ships, liberate the last of their colonies, and bring their mocking aristocracy to justice. The Screk will be subjected to a Great Trial, one of proportions never seen before in the annals of the universe. They will duly pay for the crimes committed against Humanity and countless other races. They will taste freedom and democracy in their truest forms. When they arrived on Earth, after the war which brought mankind to its knees, they found a statue. A statue of copper, at the mouth of a great river, at the entry of the port of one of the greatest cities of Earth. A city within a nation not unlike Antares: a nation of prosperity, liberty, and democracy for all. That statue represented all those ideals. It was destroyed, and, the Screks hoped it would bring down its message. But it did not. For that message is now an entire nation, a great nation: our own. And it is for this that Antares and her allies in the Antares Treaty Organisation have formally handed the Screk a Declaration of War. Fellow Antareans, Hic Manebimus Optime, Sed Non Solum Hic. Forward Antares!
It's interesting to see Antares lean into the controversial concept of interventionism with the demand for the liberation of Earth. They have no personal connections with any they've made war with, only enemies of allies. We'll see at the end of this if any of it is justified, if Antares can leave these worlds better than they found it, most importantly with Earth.
Speech from the Prime Ministers office in response to the Screk demand "My friends, my brothers, my sisters, my countryman. Today, we stand on a precipice. Our diplomats have returned from their meeting with the screk, and they bring us a choice. We can remain in the miasma, safe from any threat of war, in exchange for the lives of billions and all that lay beyond it, or we go to war. My friends, war is a terrible thing. But there are times in history where war is a necessity. As our forefathers on ancient Earth chose to stand against evil, so too must we. We fight, not just for our chained brethren on Earth, but for the very soul of humanity. Though the heavens themselves may fall on us all, we shall overcome this trial. Together, with iron resolve, we will make our stand, and show the Screk the strength of the Confederacy. Let us live up to the ideals of our ancestors and fight, not just for justice, but to show this galaxy the strength of the Human soul."
This isn't about humanity anymore. The Confederacy is a plurality from across the stars. Many of us have raised weapons in anger at each other in decades and centuries past. But in Antares we have found a shared home and a unified ideal. One of self-determination and the right of all to live a life of dignity, free from the shackles of tyrants petty and enormous. The flame the burns today may have been lit by a human torch, but that torch passes to all citizens of the Confederacy. The fires of liberation burning within the heart of every Human burns equally bright in the heart of every Anthorian, Beldross, Baanthurian, Vrul, Pneumoi, and countless other species from all nations across the galaxy. Today, we set out with that torch once more, to kindle that fire in yet another people. And that same fire which warms the weary on our stellar shores will burn to the bones the tyrants who think themselves gods.
You guys need to pitch this to a streaming service. Seriously. Deadass. This is giving me part of my fix until The Expanse comes back. I think we'd all pay to watch a few seasons of this.
If it works, it would make them among the bigger ones if done right. Cost cutting aside, could this mess be done cheaper as a cartoon than a live action work?
"Here we will remain most excellently." I don't know you, but if I werw the Skreck, I would interpret from that that Antares had agreed to our terms, and would remain inside the miasma.
Yes until they see the Antares fleets knocking at there door and they say surrender please. And then the Screck say no and then the fleets start playing classical music as they orbitally bombard the Skreck home world whilst the entire crew is in the mess partying and having drinks.

"We will not go into that night, We will live on. We will survive. And from this day forward the 4th of July will no longer be know as an American Holiday. THIS IS OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY!"
Good morning. In less than an hour, spacecraft from here will join others from around the Milky Way, and you will be launching the largest spaceborne battle in the history of the galaxy. "The galaxy"- That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Twenty Second of April, and you will once again be fighting for our survival. Not against shortage, famine, or starvation… but against subjugation. We're fighting for our right to think, our right to feel. And should we win the day, the Twenty Second will no longer be known as a Confederate holiday, but as the day when all sentient life declared in one voice: WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT! WE WILL NOT VANISH WITHOUT A FIGHT! WE'RE GOING TO LIVE ON! WE'RE GOING TO SURVIVE! *TODAY, WE CELEBRATE OUR REUNION DAY!*
It appears the episode just about caught up with the streams. We are drawing closer to the _Great Emancipation._ _The Mother of Exiles_ lies in wait, for the day where fleets of Antares once more makes an odyssey across the stars.
I like how part 4 the music set the tone that little hope remained for humanity and earth, and that antares was still in the dark, where in part 5 the music shows antares growing stronger and becoming more bold and liberation was on the horizon
I don't think I've seen something like Antares in any scifi. The GTU was cool but ultimately something I'd seen before. The Antares Confederacy is something wholly different, and you guys seem to know it and revel in it. A nation forged in the most noble of intentions trying its best to live up to them, struck by tragedy after tragedy which should shatter the quiet optimism from which its strength comes from. And yet it always comes back to those ideals, that righteous vanity and wonderful hypocrisy that spit in the face of the horrors that face them and work for the betterment of all life. Its wonderful to watch something utterly new like this.
You're basically building a storyboard for the next great space opera here and I am looking forward to seeing how it pans out! Also: Screk don't know just how bad they fucked up.
"We apologize. We're .. sorry. We're sorry we had to defend ourselves against your unwarranted attack. We're sorry that your military was stupid enough to fire on our fleets. And we're sorry we waited as long as we did before we blew you all straight to hell. .. As with everything else, it's the thought that counts." - Paraphrased from John Sheridan, Babylon 5, Fall of Night.

i would love it if the missing GTU colonist fleet that disappeared after attempting FTL travel actually ended up in the Antares universe and then the GTU invents interdimensional travel from reverse-engineered Unbidden technology to come into Antares' aid and help it liberate Earth
Re: that and the previous season. Remember how those jump drives triggered another crisis? I would not be surprised if that Antares warp ship causes that crisis in the Antares universe. Stellaris mechanics disallowing this notwithstanding.
"You beat Earth because they gave into your sweet promises. We saw the fruits of those promises and want none of it. And as children can not rightly stand by to see their parents suffer, WE WILL NOT STAND BY AS EARTH SUFFERS UNDER YOUR YOLK! You made promises to us grand and threatening only because you KNOW we will break your hold on Earth and those you have forced them to take into your dominion. Be you then very afraid. We are here and so... We will be there and everywhere."
I love the difference between the Greater Terran Union and the Antares Confederacy. On one hand, GTU shows strength in nationalism and overwhelming force in pursuit of revenge. While Antares shows righteousness and honor while establish itself as the harmonious multispecies center. Both equally glorious.

"Citizens of Antares! The time has come! For so long, we have watched as our kin were humiliated, degraded, reduced to the slaves of a race so evil and cruel it defies imagination. Those whose ancestors preached freedom, who stamped out injustice and set out into space with the belief of a better future, of utopia, became the tools of evil. For years now, we have grown stronger, and our destiny was revealed to us! We are the last beacon of liberty left in this galaxy! We are the last barrier against slavery! The beacon of liberty is lit! The song of freedom shall be heard across the galaxy! This day, Sons and Daughters of Antares, we begin the quest to liberate Earth itself! “When we heard the news from the diplomatic mission, everyone on the bridge was quiet. We saw the lists; the worlds, ships and entire populations that the screk wanted from us, and the ones they would “let us” keep. We were utterly speechless. I turned to Captain Skyorson, but he just scrolled thru the lists, his human face solid and unsuggesting as stone. But the more he read, I saw him change. His muscles tensed, his jaw clenched tight, and his eyes…those dark eyes began to burn with enough fury and hate to light a world aflame. And as I watched he muttered two words in a tone so cold and blunt that, had they been addressed to me, I’d feel like he was claiming my soul: “Vae victis” - 1st officer Rakadi Los, CAS Yasuke, Antares Confederate Navy
Today the Confederacy marches to war, brothers & sisters let us light the torch that will vanquish the darkness, that will bring hope to every being across known space, that will forever lead us and everyone in this galaxy into a brighter future! HIC MANEBIMUS OPTIME!

Hic Manebimus Optime!
Evil must be Opposed!

Simple as
It's interesting to see Antares lean into the controversial concept of interventionism with the demand for the liberation of Earth. They have no personal connections with any they've made war with, only enemies of allies. We'll see at the end of this if any of it is justified, if Antares can leave these worlds better than they found it, most importantly with Earth.
Speech from the Prime Ministers office in response to the Screk demand
"My friends, my brothers, my sisters, my countryman.
This... Is... INCREDIBLE!
*Beautiful chaotic cheers and jeers erupted across the antares confederacy after this speech was delivered*
Hooray! Long live President @Griffin Samroengraja, staunch defender of freedom!
Yes please ... each conflict could be its own season and the best part: For most of them you need new actors witch drives the pricetag DOWN ^^
If it works, it would make them among the bigger ones if done right.
Cost cutting aside, could this mess be done cheaper as a cartoon than a live action work?
"Here we will remain most excellently."
I don't know you, but if I werw the Skreck, I would interpret from that that Antares had agreed to our terms, and would remain inside the miasma.
I think the double meaning is intentional, to keep them guessing tongue-in-cheek.
Yes until they see the Antares fleets knocking at there door and they say surrender please. And then the Screck say no and then the fleets start playing classical music as they orbitally bombard the Skreck home world whilst the entire crew is in the mess partying and having drinks.
Then they’ll die surprised

In all honesty, I had already forgotten about this season of stellaris invicta, glad to see it hasn't died.

Antares ambassador: "You may test that assumption at your convenience."
"We will not go into that night, We will live on. We will survive. And from this day forward the 4th of July will no longer be know as an American Holiday. THIS IS OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY!"
UUURRAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

*GTU observing through the multiverse: Thats my boy! Stride forth and reclaim your birthright! *TERRA AETERNUM!!!* "
I like how part 4 the music set the tone that little hope remained for humanity and earth, and that antares was still in the dark, where in part 5 the music shows antares growing stronger and becoming more bold and liberation was on the horizon
The real question is not if Antares will win against the Skrek, but what will happen when the GTU breaches the multiversal barrier.
Forward Antares!
Many centuries in the past, before mankind had dared to leave our home world, a brave commander and his elite troops held on to a previously insignificant crossroads. He was surrounded on all sides by the armies of a power so terrible, it’s name and symbol would become synonymous with evil in the decades that followed. Freezing, without food, ammunition, or hope of relief; death seemed inevitable. When the enemy made a rare offer to show mercy if he and his men would only surrender, this officer from the new world answered with a single word. This word, and the story of the one who spoke it, would endure forever as a symbol of defiance in the face certain defeat. The enemy commander, sure of victory until that moment, felt a cold chill run down his spine as he read THE word, “NUTS”.
I hate to be that guy, but actually, he had no idea what "nuts" meant and was deeply confused. Honestly, I think that makes it better.

i would love it if the missing GTU colonist fleet that disappeared after attempting FTL travel actually ended up in the Antares universe and then the GTU invents interdimensional travel from reverse-engineered Unbidden technology to come into Antares' aid and help it liberate Earth
Re: that and the previous season.
Remember how those jump drives triggered another crisis?
I would not be surprised if that Antares warp ship causes that crisis in the Antares universe.
Stellaris mechanics disallowing this notwithstanding.

your writing for this series is excellent, it never fails when it came to the epic words.
2 years later, I've listened to this series at least a dozen times. Still get goosebumps everytime. Such great storytelling.
Your storytelling is soooo amazing!
That ending was so epic, I can't wait for the next episode
Skrek "here's a list of demands for you to go away"
Antares "oh ya sure, let is just sit here in our little corner and, NO, FRICK YOU, WAR IT IS"
Screk: Become a vassal

It’s not like Antares could Forward if they’re stuck where they started. I also seriously doubt the Skrek have never seriously offered this to others before. They’re notorious benders of truth and breakers of words.
Our time has come!"
-Quote attributed to some random dude in Antares
Well done Templin Institute you have surpassed first season of Stellaris Invicta.

Captain: “what is it?”
*ride of the Valkyries start playing as an antares fleet warps in*
Captain: “why do a hear boss music?”
Skrek: “Bow to our demands”.
Antares: “NEVER!”

By the end: THEY MESSED WITH THE ROCKS! HOW DARE THEY! WERE GONNA GIVE THEM A BELLY FULL A FIRE AND A POOL OF THEIR OWN BLOOD TO DROWN IN!
You smell that...?
Smells like freedom.
Imagine the reawakened emperor pops out of the warp just as the confederacy is about to butt heads with the screk...AHH such Glorious Crusade!
Stellaris provides the content, but it's the excellent writing that brings it to life.

I have never been more hyped in my life
“When we heard the news from the diplomatic mission, everyone on the bridge was quiet. And as I watched he muttered two words in a tone so cold and blunt that, had they been addressed to me, I’d feel like he was claiming my soul:
“Vae victis”

I'm sorry, who in the government thought that it was likely that the skreck would just surrender? What, did they think that they could just walk up to the ancient powerful alien race and ask them to knock it off and for the skreck to respond with "oh ok I will just give up now, you convinced me". Because I would like he/she/they found and removed from office
