To be fair though, skull designs aren't exactly a rarity when it comes to military logos, especially in the form of unit badges such as the SS' skull & crossbones. Say what you want about the Nazis, but their taste in uniforms was impeccable.

wow, that's going back a bit.
it was kind of simultaneously bad and great at the same time. unashamedely farce in a very british way. other european countries got mad about it at the time, and i think it was banned in germany. but the british airmen were mocked as much as any other country, if not more. i've always been a sucker for catchphrases (my all time favorite british comedy shows are 'the fast show' and 'vic reeves big night out'), and can remember people often repeating 'listen closely, i will say ziss only once!' whenever they were about to explain something around the time it was shown.

In my first serious band we had a serious conversation about kicking out the bass player. The drummer was a fitter and turner who'd left school at 15, as you could in those days, to start his apprenticeship. He kept saying we should discuss with the bassplayer what we needed from him "pacifically". Now I was the only jerk in the band with a bloody degree, I couldn't work out if old mate was trying to say "specifically" or, yes, it's a real word, "pacifically" and means roughly, to do something without fighting, like 'pacifist' or the Pacific Ocean. Either interpretation would be applicable for the case and I never found out which. Bassplayer quit and I ended up on bass duties, though I changed it up to doghouse, and here we are.......

For the greatest non-context British panel show laughs, you can't beat 8 Out of 10 Cats does Countdown. Almost all compilations are amazing but the best are Sean Lock, Joe Wilkinson and Jimmy Carr himself. Carrot in the Box is amazing as well. I've posted links to the best ones below, just copy paste it after the slash in the address bar.
The only context you need is: 8 Out of 10 Cats is a panel show, all comedians taking taking the piss out of each other while playing a game, sort of. Countdown is a serious show about math and language. Someone decided they needed a mash-up which worked so well they kept doing it. Jimmy is the host and rips into everyone. Sean and Jon are the team captains (sadly, Sean passed away last year) and each have a guest. There is Dictionary Corner with Suzy Dent, who is a linguist and has a guest every show. Rachel Riley does the numbers, she's a mathematician. Both of them are very smart and for real, but they also know how to keep up with comedians. Jimmy's jokes go far but he said in an interview he always checks with them before the show if the jokes aren't too much.
    Sean Lock watch?v=0Q9IRpFGgPY
Joe Wilkinson at his best watch?v=YstBl9xzz34 (You do need context for him as a person: he is super weird, looks like a vagrant in a suit and always shows up "unannounced", claiming Jimmy fired him from the show but he has a reason to be there. His half-brother Fabio is often present).
Jimmy Carr being an asshole watch?v=pHTTQ_gI76k
    Carrot in the Box watch?v=0UGuPvrsG3E

Yes, these guys are great, and you must also see the compilations from 'Armstrong and Miller' sketch shows. The WW2 pilots played as modern day 'Gen Z' teenagers are brilliant!!!

Haha, nice theme - Grammar Nazis and Actual Nazis.
It's nice to finally see the full bit that the "Are we the baddies?" came from, used/featured in all the memes and RUclips commentary videos. I had seen that one clip with that one line SO many times and never had any idea what it was or where it came from. The accent and use of a word like "baddies" clearly indicated it had to be some kind of British humor, but I couldn't even begin to guess precisely which show or movie it might have come from. NOW I know. Thanks guys!
If you like the British humor, I strongly suggest a show that aired in the 80s called Allo Allo. It was a sitcom about a womanizing cafe owner, René Artois, in German-occupied France, who constantly gets into crazy situations, not just from banging his waitresses behind his wife's back, but even playing both sides of the war by being friendly with the German forces, but also conspiring with the French resistance (reluctantly on both counts) - it's hard to say which deception was more dangerous ; tricking the Nazis or cheating on his wife, lol.
Throw in two stranded British airmen who speak no French, an English agent posing as a French cop who cannot speak decent French worth a damn, a daft old man whose pre-retirement expertise in espionage and mastery of disguise is minimally exceptional at best, a snarky old bed-ridden mother-in-law, an amorous undertaker (with a "dicky tick-ehr" indicating a delicate heart condition) who fancies the cafe owner's wife, a gay German Lieutenant who fancies the cafe owner, a kinky Gestapo officer, and an endless bevy of beauties who inexplicably cannot resist the dumpy, lazy-eyed cafe owner who ultimately has to pose as his own twin brother after being "executed" by the Nazis - it all amounts to wacky misadventures & misunderstandings in WWII.
One thing to know going into this show, is that while all the cast speak English, it is implied that when a character speaks with a certain accent, they are speaking that language. I am guessing the show's producers felt it was more efficient to portray the language barriers this way, as opposed to the usual approach of employing subtitles.
Also, René often breaks the 4th wall and speaks directly to the audience - usually at the top of every episode to provide a brief recap of recent events, and occasionally during the episode to convey his inner thoughts about the insanity or ludicrousness of any given situation he finds himself in.
