Sadly it seems the internet is doing almost as much damage as good in the world. There seems to be a lack of critical thinking, people seem to be more likely to believe in preposterous ideas than ever. At this rate we could be entering a new dark age, one where science is mocked and/or discarded.
There is a simple reason why you see no stars in photos taken on the moon. To take a photo of stars you need a longer exposure on your camera. The surface of the moon is extremely bright so the background stars don't show. Even though the sky is dark it was daytime on the moon when those photos were taken. Also, they put a big mirror on the moon and we shoot lasers to measure the exact distance which changed as the moon slowly drifts away from us at a rate of 1.49 inches a year.
No. The reason is as they said in this video: people will believe what the "Government" tells them, so there's no need to take care with things like flags and shadows and so on. Jeez, it's so obvious sheeple! Of course they spent all that time and money on faking the moon landing (six times, no less!) but didn't think to put stars in the background sky. 😄😄😄
Aside from the massive rocket that was built and all the people who witnessed the launch on-site, and all the people with telescopes who watched the rocket take off and all the other countries who could triangulate the direction from which the astronauts were broadcasting from, the actual "movie-set" would be massively expensive. Consider the expensive lighting evenly distributing the light over a (at least) football-sized set. Close-ups of the astronauts' feet, as they stepped, show dust being kicked up and landing in a no-atmosphere environment. So the set would also have to take place in a vacuum, all to fool people in a detail no one even noticed for decades.
Also, the retroreflector arrays left on the moon by the Apollo missions are still used by universities today to do lunar laser ranging experiments... so I guess they must be in on the conspiracy. 🤣🤣
I think these guys misinterpreted the 'moon landing' sketch, it's mocking people who subscribe to 'faked moon landing' conspiracy theories, but they appear to have read it as questioning the moon landings themselves.

@@larryargent503 Maybe, but actual (non-figurative) mathematics was a huge part of the mission and it happens to be the case that the _actual_ maths literally _does_ add up 😂 The beauty of maths is that it's completely objective. Numbers don't lie. That's why you never see anybody 'proving' a conspiracy theory with maths. It's also why it tends to be stupid people who believe in them, because proving a conspiracy theorist wrong with maths is like giving sound financial advice to a haddock.
The whole joke of that sketch is to point out how stupid someone would have to be in order to believe the moon landings were faked. They did two more just like it. One about Area 51, and one about Princess Diana. Again pointing out the sheer stupidity of conspiracy theories and how they crumble in the fact of logic. Yeah, the math really does add up. Every single character of it. If you look at it and it doesn't, then you just aren't good enough at math. There is not a single piece of "evidence" about the moon landings being fake that stands up to any kind of scrutiny with anyone who is even the remotest bit scientifically literate.
The flag placed on the moon was designed to look like that. The US government wanted s big reminder that the US was there first, but any flag on the moon would just droop. So they designed a flag that would hand on a pole in a manner that would stay rigid and unfurled.
Guys, guys, guyyyyyys! We went to the moon 6 times. If you believe we didn't go, you have to believe the Earth is flat too with ice incrusted sides and a dome on top.🤠🤠👍👍
As an older guy, let me say once and for all, here's how you know the moon landing was real: 1969 was the height of the Cold War. While the Soviet Union didn't have the capability to send a manned spacecraft to the moon, they certainly had the capability of monitoring whether our spacecraft actually traveled to the moon. They would have loved nothing more than to embarrass the United States on a global scale - they didn't because they knew beyond a doubt that we had, in fact, landed on the moon. So there, proven and done with. (The Earth is, however, flat. You folks are correct about that one.)
And they knew denying that it happened would have made them look like fools. This was back in the day when political leaders thought looking like a fool was a bad idea.
When wondering about the usefulness of vaccines. I always defer to an expert and ask a doctor. For the same reason. When I wonder about 'maths', its always best to ask someone who's an expert in that, or even in this case, astronomers too. Don't take the word of a convincing stranger. Take the word of a professional. Because thier work not only saves lives, it can be checked absolutely and debunked, leaving them out of a job if they're wrong. That and the fact they study these subjects for their entire lives, are three good reasons to trust them, when they say the 'maths' is right, or wrong.
Just ask why the theories ask a bunch of questions that can be answered if you google it. It's people's lack of scientific knowledge, and that's not their fault. There's a lot of issues with education.
Maaan, I like you guys, and until now, I've just been sporadically watching whatever showed up in my feed or searches. I'm gonna subscribe now, though, to see if these responses will prompt you to dive into the moon landings. I really hope you will, 'cause, I mean, during one of the trips, they placed a reflector, that students around the world get to shoot laseres at, to measure stuff like the speed and distance of the moon through direct experimentation, and that's pretty cool, I'd say. Best wishes from Denmark.
I'm pretty sure by this point the full episodes aren't copyright strikes, I strongly suggest watching That Mitchell and Webb Look in their entirety. Bloody hilarious
More M & W? Has to be the several episodes of ‘The Surprising Adventures of Sir Digby Chicken-Caesar’ and ‘Numberwang’. Darkest sketches are the ones concerning ‘The Event’!
One of my favourite Mitchell and Webb bits is "Brain surgeon". It is a one of kind sketch where you can see the punchline coming a mile away. But that's the thing about it. I can't explain. And I shouldn't. Just watch it please :)
If you decide to go deeper into the Mitchell And Webb rabbit hole you will strike gold like the inventor, Are we the baddies? and my personal favorite God and Abraham.
You don't actually believe that the Moon landing was fake, do you? If so, it is quite disappointing and you have lost my respect. If you aren't, then very funny.
"That Mitchell and Webb Look" is hilarious! The Are We the Baddies, The Green Pied Pipper, The Two Snooker Commentators, and Numberwang are a few of my favorite sketches from that show! Actress Olivia Coleman played various characters on that show.
Do love a bit of mitchell and webb. I think the two biggest things that prove the moon landing wasn't fake are: 1, The Russians didn't say it was fake, and if they'd had any possible inkling that it wasn't real, they would have been all over it. They were also tracking the mission. 2, One of the key experiments was to leave a big retroreflector (a big mirror, basically) so that we could bounce lasers off the moon and accurately measure its distance. You can still bounce high powered lasers off that retroreflector.
Do you know who doesn’t doubt the US went to the moon? The Russians. The only people who have anything to gain from proving the US didn’t go to the moon actually never doubted it. Man has walked on the moon, it was one of mankind’s greatest achievements but it turns out, it didn’t make great TV. In fact if a film crew had made the footage it would have looked brilliant.
The Moon landings are some of America's greatest ever achievements. Heck, one of Humanity's greatest achievements. "One small step for man.." etc. It is something Americans should be very proud of, especially as the computer technology of the day was inferior to the computer power in our smartphones today. It was pure mathematical and engineering genius and pioneered by very brave men
People forget that the rockets that size were being developed to fit in big nuclear warheads. By showing that you can do some of these monster manned missions they were showing the size of a warhead(s) they could throw at you from thousands of miles away. That was the point to the development of the tech, then it took on political tubthumping. Rocket material tech is not as complex as microchip formulation.
Man,I Iove your two reactions. My favourite M&W sketch, because it hits me in the reals - is Old Sherlock Holmes. It might not be one for video, because it is really real - but it shows hows what UK comedy is about. It's bitter sweet
You say that you don't believe in the moon landing because "the math doesn't add up?". Which math? Are you both rocket scientists or physicists? Do you have advanced degrees in mathematics and you're just so intelligent that you decided not to *prove* that the moon landing is faked, but just casually mention that you figured it out? Nothing against you guys personally, and I enjoy your channel. But consider something for a second: there are people who actually understand things that you don't. You can't just say that "the math is off", as if your opinion and feeling gives you any actual knowledge! Man, conspiracy theorists are wild. Someone randomly suggests that the moon landing is fake and people just go "oh, you know what, that feels true to me! Forget thousands of years of knowledge that led up to this point, I'm probably right".
Aww! There's usually another two Conspiracy Theory sketches along with the Moon Landing one stitched together. The Princess Diana accident one and the Area 51 one iirc. Love this channel and your reactions. You're lovely people. I admit you disappeared on me for a long time even though I remain I subscribed. (my fault, probably)
Erm, did you just watch that and then still say “nahh, I’ve looked into it on google and there’s no way we actually went” and you didn’t realise how stunningly accurate you just made the sketch!? That literally WAS the joke! We went. The Russians were also picking up transmissions coming from the moon while they were there and would have loved to have exposed a fake, but they couldn’t because they were aware that the object they’d tracked all the way had actually landed! Why is this one such a difficult concept for people? We have GPS that works so we can clearly launch things into space! They also all left behind panels of corner reflectors at each site (it’s like a cats eye reflector - basically it’s a flat tray covered with half cubes that have been cut along the diagonal). The point is, they will reflect any light directly back towards the source and guess what, if you point a modesty powerful laser at the moon you get reflections after about 4 seconds from 6 different locations - all exactly where NASA claimed to have landed! What a weird coincidence! They actually have a purpose beyond proving idiots wrong though; by measuring the time delay we can tell the distance between the earth and moon and how much it’s changing (the moon is very slowly getting further away) which is interesting actually because it means that Billions of years ago it was much closer and a solar and lunar eclipse would have happened every month (which would have been much shorter). It’s amazingly lucky that we’re around when the moon is far enough away to appear almost exactly the same size as the sun so we get absolutely stunning Solar Eclipses and they’re probably amongst the most spectacular and rare phenomena that can occur in the universe and be visible regularly from any given planet!
Cat amongst the pigeons time. Theres a couple of questions on the moon landings ive never seen answered. Have you ever got into a car on a hot day? The airs oppressive everything is too hot to touch. Whats that 60 or 70 degrees. The average temperature on the moon is 120 degrees . It can get as high as 240. So when the astronauts get back after a hard day skipping about and climb into that capsule how do you think they got on? The other thing is about that car they had. According to nasas plans the battery that operated it had an upper temperature tolerance of 60 degrees. Above that and it would fail. So are you saying they took it on the off chance they might get away with it? I'm no scientist so im happy to be shot down. I've just never seen anybody explain any of this.
When we say "it's 70F" on the Earth we mean "the air is 70F". Your body can warm up on Earth as a result of either direct radiation heating from sunlight or transfer of heat from the surroundings (air, mostly). But the moon has no atmosphere, the "temperature" of the moon means the temperature of the surface rock/dust. So the only way to absorb heat is via contact with the surface (and there is not much of that) or direct radiation from the Sun. Yes, sunlight is strong on the moon with no atmosphere to absorb it .. and guess what? NASA knew that, which is why the Lunar lander was white and/or covered in reflective foil, and had cooling units. Similarly, the spacesuits were white for the same reason. The same applied to the buggy. (Your questions are reasonable, its' tricky to realize things we take for granted are very different away the earths surface.) One of the things that is not appreciated is the huge amount of planning that went into these apparently trivial things. For example, there is a joke that US astronauts use a special (and expensive) pen when in space, while Russians just use a good ole cheap pencil. Well, turns out it's a very BAD idea to use a pencil. Why? Well, they break, and shed little bits of pencil "lead", which isnt lead at all, but carbon. And that is NOT GOOD .. because carbon is a conductor, and if you have little bits of carbon floating around in zero gravity its only a matter of time before one of them shorts out some electrical circuit somewhere and POOF .. you are in trouble.
In the decade of the 2000's, there was some awesome comedy on TV in the UK. Mitchell and Webb were right up there, along with Armstrong and Miller, and as a Scot I have to say Chewin' The Fat was great, and the non-sketch sitcom Still Game was maybe even better.
Please.Please. Believe me. I was alive (16 years old) when the moon landings happened. IF the USA had not actually landed ON the moon, the USSR would have called them out. The USSR, challenging the USA in every possible way since the cold war was happening, would not have kept quiet. They had all the tracking equipment needed to prove or disprove the landings. And what about all the other countries that also had tracking equipment? Britain, France, Spain, South Africa, Australia et al. Could the USA have made them keep quiet? And what the hell was Apollo13? Just a dummy on which Ron Howard could base his brilliant film? For God's sake people. Stop trying to revise history and examine the evidence.
Seriously it was not faked, look up KAGUYA Japans orbit of the moon and you can see the tracks left from the original landing site and NASA has high resolutions pics taken in 2009.
tHERE IS A WAY TO FIND OUT IF WE WENT TO THE MOON ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO TO THE MOON AND SEE IF THE FLAG, LUNAR ROVER and other stuff they should have left are there.
Poor people struggling and in more extreme cases dying in recessions doesn't mean that it's by design. The whole reason people try to acquire wealth is to insulate themselves from adversity - it'd be pretty perverse if having savings made absolutely no difference when times are tough.

It's "an already foolish society". BANG!
Oh, a couple of deniers? Sure sounds like that, and the Earth is flat? For fuck's sake!
😄😄😄
Did I hear you correctly? You don't believe that the Moon landings happened??? Even the Soviets acknowledged that they happened! lol. :)
I swear it is only ever Americans that think America didn't go to the moon 🤣🤣
Just to make the light rays parallel would've required lasers, worth more than US GDP from several years.
And fake the radio transmissions from the Moon which the Soviets would be able to hear... and fake any radar tracking they could have done...
@@Songfugel And my uncle was working for IBM at the time in Alabama and was involved on that side of the program.
Also, the retroreflector arrays left on the moon by the Apollo missions are still used by universities today to do lunar laser ranging experiments... so I guess they must be in on the conspiracy. 🤣🤣
And the USSR never questioned that the landing actually happened.
Doing 'research" 😂😂😂
AHH someone beat me to it.... damn your eyes!
I think these guys misinterpreted the 'moon landing' sketch, it's mocking people who subscribe to 'faked moon landing' conspiracy theories, but they appear to have read it as questioning the moon landings themselves.
maybe it's unclear but at the end you seem to be saying that the moon landings are fake? You may want to clarify that if you're watching M&W...
Yes, they seemed to be completely missing the point. Unless I'm missing the point.

Yeah, because the Soviet union, which closely tracked the whole thing, would not call it out if it wasn't true.
Jeez, yes the moon missions were real, with a powerful enough telescope you can still see things like the base of the lunar module left behind when they left for gods sake.
No, no, no! That's left over from the massive rocket they sent there to fake the landing!
Not QUITE true, but the Japanese and Chinese lunar orbiters could certainly photograph them. (And did.)

@@larryargent503 Maybe, but actual (non-figurative) mathematics was a huge part of the mission and it happens to be the case that the _actual_ maths literally _does_ add up 😂
The beauty of maths is that it's completely objective. Numbers don't lie. That's why you never see anybody 'proving' a conspiracy theory with maths. It's also why it tends to be stupid people who believe in them, because proving a conspiracy theorist wrong with maths is like giving sound financial advice to a haddock.
Exactly, the "I've done my research" is the immediate Facebook mum whack job red flag that always comes out and didn't disappoint here again!
It i s amazing how many Americansa do not understand thart they landed on the monn.
Well, to be fair, most of us didn't.

The Clangers must've put those reflectors on the moon, or was it the Soup dragon's work?
Soup Dragon. I thought that was established scientific fact! 😂😂

I know you do not believe we went to the moon, but sadly, we did. Russia also confirmed that this did happen.
The whole joke of that sketch is to point out how stupid someone would have to be in order to believe the moon landings were faked. They did two more just like it. One about Area 51, and one about Princess Diana. Again pointing out the sheer stupidity of conspiracy theories and how they crumble in the fact of logic.
If you genuinely believe absurdities lime moon landing conspiracy theories, this is probably not a show for you.
Guys, the show is making fun of people who think the moon landings were fake because it would be cheaper and easier to just go to the moon.
this two are to dumb to get the fact that the show is making fun of them,
Yeah, the math really does add up. Every single character of it. If you look at it and it doesn't, then you just aren't good enough at math. There is not a single piece of "evidence" about the moon landings being fake that stands up to any kind of scrutiny with anyone who is even the remotest bit scientifically literate.
I bet you think the earth is flat too.
Duh!
Moon landings definitely didn’t happen
If the Russian government never doubted we landed on the moon, why would you?
The flag placed on the moon was designed to look like that. The US government wanted s big reminder that the US was there first, but any flag on the moon would just droop. So they designed a flag that would hand on a pole in a manner that would stay rigid and unfurled.
You can't teach people who like conspiracies. Look, they think Mitchell & Webb agree with them. They can't imagine that they are the joke.
Better still, ask any of the competing Soviet scientists whether they think it was fake.

Well... I suppose... We could eat the rich...
Have a look at M & W Homeopathy skit.
The best is The Brain Surgeon sketch
The Moon landings are some of America's greatest ever achievements. Heck, one of Humanity's greatest achievements. "One small step for man.." etc. It is something Americans should be very proud of, especially as the computer technology of the day was inferior to the computer power in our smartphones today. It was pure mathematical and engineering genius and pioneered by very brave men
The conspiracy sketch reappears with Princess Diana being killed in 'suspicious circumstance', too. Just good fun mocking conspiracy theories...
You could not fake that in 1969, we just didn't have the technology to do it.
Thats a Numberwang
I love seeing these clips again. Are we the badies is always the best though.
Man,I Iove your two reactions. My favourite M&W sketch, because it hits me in the reals - is Old Sherlock Holmes. It might not be one for video, because it is really real - but it shows hows what UK comedy is about. It's bitter sweet
Theres a great song called KILL THE POOR by the Dead Kennedys ...It really has some great lyrics as this skit has some great jokes
The thing about Mitchell and Webb is that they always say the quiet part out loud.

We went to the moon All over the world around 650 million people watched the take off, how the hell are people so dumb
Professor Death is the Mitchell and Webb best sketch and it involves Americans
Do you all think we landed on the moon? Do you know we did?
You realise they're mocking people who think the moon was fake right lol they've presented arguments as to why it's stupid to think it was faked....
This is the world economic forum every year
Cat amongst the pigeons time.
(Your questions are reasonable, its' tricky to realize things we take for granted are very different away the earths surface.)
One of the things that is not appreciated is the huge amount of planning that went into these apparently trivial things.
The moon landings really happened, next you'll be saying you think the earth is flat :/

Poor people struggling and in more extreme cases dying in recessions doesn't mean that it's by design. The whole reason people try to acquire wealth is to insulate themselves from adversity - it'd be pretty perverse if having savings made absolutely no difference when times are tough.
