    • @jimb9063
      @jimb9063 9 месяцев назад +19

      Putting aside actual evidence for a moment, this fact is the most compelling for me. The Soviets had worked out it was possible, and watched the US do it, before the time when the validity of everything is seemingly being called into question.
      A lot of BS thrown around in the Cold War, but for this they had evidence, they knew the US had evidence, so they acknowledged it. Don't imagine it would have crossed their minds to deny it, just too stupid a position to take.
      If it happened for the first time these days, I imagine one huge proportion of the world or other wouldn't believe it depending on who it was that did it.

      I think I know where the rebellion comes from. It's from feeling that the facts "agreed upon" by the previous generations are not "what I signed up for, cause I wasn't there to 'sign' that agreement", hence "reinventing the wheel".
      The newer generations keep on wanting to set us back to problems that we already found the solutions for(the solution is what they perceive as the problem).
      For instance- Subjective Interpretation- ie: "Everyone has 'their' truth", while the Greeks combated that problem by ushering in Logic and Objectivity- thousands of years ago.
      Another instance- Handing the government all the power to decide and to regulate society... when that was a worldwide problem up to the time of the French Revolution, which democratized the world- and destroyed the Monarchy and consequently all similar politcal systems and put autonomy in the hands of the individual.
      A 3rd instance(and keep in mind, I'm black)- "Affirmative Action" (the idea of it).. when we, as a society, setup systems that would combat the prevalent problem of occupying stations and positions everywhere, without merit. A problem that has plagued humanity since forever.
      A final instance- "Identity Politics", ie: Dividing the populace into groups and managing them in that way... when... we had that problem for thousands of years and it's core consequence was "Tribalism" and class-based/caste systems..
      We solved that problem ALREADY with the Magna Carta and consequently, the French and secondly, the American Revolutions.

    There is a simple reason why you see no stars in photos taken on the moon. To take a photo of stars you need a longer exposure on your camera. The surface of the moon is extremely bright so the background stars don't show. Even though the sky is dark it was daytime on the moon when those photos were taken. Also, they put a big mirror on the moon and we shoot lasers to measure the exact distance which changed as the moon slowly drifts away from us at a rate of 1.49 inches a year.

    • @AgentOccam

    Aside from the massive rocket that was built and all the people who witnessed the launch on-site, and all the people with telescopes who watched the rocket take off and all the other countries who could triangulate the direction from which the astronauts were broadcasting from, the actual "movie-set" would be massively expensive. Consider the expensive lighting evenly distributing the light over a (at least) football-sized set. Close-ups of the astronauts' feet, as they stepped, show dust being kicked up and landing in a no-atmosphere environment. So the set would also have to take place in a vacuum, all to fool people in a detail no one even noticed for decades.

While the Soviet Union didn't have the capability to send a manned spacecraft to the moon, they certainly had the capability of monitoring whether our spacecraft actually traveled to the moon. They would have loved nothing more than to embarrass the United States on a global scale - they didn't because they knew beyond a doubt that we had, in fact, landed on the moon. Best wishes from Denmark.

    Do love a bit of mitchell and webb. I think the two biggest things that prove the moon landing wasn't fake are: 1, The Russians didn't say it was fake, and if they'd had any possible inkling that it wasn't real, they would have been all over it. They were also tracking the mission. 2, One of the key experiments was to leave a big retroreflector (a big mirror, basically) so that we could bounce lasers off the moon and accurately measure its distance. You can still bounce high powered lasers off that retroreflector.

By showing that you can do some of these monster manned missions they were showing the size of a warhead(s) they could throw at you from thousands of miles away. That was the point to the development of the tech, then it took on political tubthumping. Rocket material tech is not as complex as microchip formulation.

    You say that you don't believe in the moon landing because "the math doesn't add up?". Which math? Are you both rocket scientists or physicists? Do you have advanced degrees in mathematics and you're just so intelligent that you decided not to *prove* that the moon landing is faked, but just casually mention that you figured it out?
    Nothing against you guys personally, and I enjoy your channel. But consider something for a second: there are people who actually understand things that you don't. You can't just say that "the math is off", as if your opinion and feeling gives you any actual knowledge!

    @Chris-Lynch Месяц назад

    Erm, did you just watch that and then still say “nahh, I’ve looked into it on google and there’s no way we actually went” and you didn’t realise how stunningly accurate you just made the sketch!? That literally WAS the joke!
    We went. The Russians were also picking up transmissions coming from the moon while they were there and would have loved to have exposed a fake, but they couldn’t because they were aware that the object they’d tracked all the way had actually landed! Why is this one such a difficult concept for people? We have GPS that works so we can clearly launch things into space! They also all left behind panels of corner reflectors at each site (it’s like a cats eye reflector - basically it’s a flat tray covered with half cubes that have been cut along the diagonal). The point is, they will reflect any light directly back towards the source and guess what, if you point a modesty powerful laser at the moon you get reflections after about 4 seconds from 6 different locations - all exactly where NASA claimed to have landed! What a weird coincidence! They actually have a purpose beyond proving idiots wrong though; by measuring the time delay we can tell the distance between the earth and moon and how much it’s changing (the moon is very slowly getting further away) which is interesting actually because it means that Billions of years ago it was much closer and a solar and lunar eclipse would have happened every month (which would have been much shorter). It’s amazingly lucky that we’re around when the moon is far enough away to appear almost exactly the same size as the sun so we get absolutely stunning Solar Eclipses and they’re probably amongst the most spectacular and rare phenomena that can occur in the universe and be visible regularly from any given planet!

    Cat amongst the pigeons time. Theres a couple of questions on the moon landings ive never seen answered.
    Have you ever got into a car on a hot day? The airs oppressive everything is too hot to touch. Whats that 60 or 70 degrees. The average temperature on the moon is 120 degrees . It can get as high as 240. So when the astronauts get back after a hard day skipping about and climb into that capsule how do you think they got on?
    The other thing is about that car they had. According to nasas plans the battery that operated it had an upper temperature tolerance of 60 degrees. Above that and it would fail. So are you saying they took it on the off chance they might get away with it?
    I'm no scientist so im happy to be shot down. I've just never seen anybody explain any of this.

    • @timhill9039
      @timhill9039 8 месяцев назад

      When we say "it's 70F" on the Earth we mean "the air is 70F". Your body can warm up on Earth as a result of either direct radiation heating from sunlight or transfer of heat from the surroundings (air, mostly). But the moon has no atmosphere, the "temperature" of the moon means the temperature of the surface rock/dust. So the only way to absorb heat is via contact with the surface (and there is not much of that) or direct radiation from the Sun. Yes, sunlight is strong on the moon with no atmosphere to absorb it .. and guess what? NASA knew that, which is why the Lunar lander was white and/or covered in reflective foil, and had cooling units. Similarly, the spacesuits were white for the same reason. The same applied to the buggy. (Your questions are reasonable, its' tricky to realize things we take for granted are very different away the earths surface.)
      One of the things that is not appreciated is the huge amount of planning that went into these apparently trivial things. For example, there is a joke that US astronauts use a special (and expensive) pen when in space, while Russians just use a good ole cheap pencil. Well, turns out it's a very BAD idea to use a pencil. Why? Well, they break, and shed little bits of pencil "lead", which isnt lead at all, but carbon. And that is NOT GOOD .. because carbon is a conductor, and if you have little bits of carbon floating around in zero gravity its only a matter of time before one of them shorts out some electrical circuit somewhere and POOF .. you are in trouble.

    Please.Please. Believe me. I was alive (16 years old) when the moon landings happened. IF the USA had not actually landed ON the moon, the USSR would have called them out. The USSR, challenging the USA in every possible way since the cold war was happening, would not have kept quiet. They had all the tracking equipment needed to prove or disprove the landings. And what about all the other countries that also had tracking equipment? Britain, France, Spain, South Africa, Australia et al. Could the USA have made them keep quiet?
    And what the hell was Apollo13? Just a dummy on which Ron Howard could base his brilliant film? For God's sake people. Stop trying to revise history and examine the evidence.

    Poor people struggling and in more extreme cases dying in recessions doesn't mean that it's by design. The whole reason people try to acquire wealth is to insulate themselves from adversity - it'd be pretty perverse if having savings made absolutely no difference when times are tough.
