I have the 19 wr450f havent converted it to street yet but that's the plan. Also they don't come street legal in New Jersey so I have to jump through some hoops for that. But I am looking forward to riding it street

Maybe I just don't understand (I'm not a mechanic) but all of the work involved just to get this bike street-legal, plus oil changes every 10 hours, AND a "complete top end rebuild" every 100 hours?!
It sounds like a major pain in the a$$. It sounds like you'd be doing as much in maintenance as you would have in ride time!
Am I missing something? How hard is a complete top end rebuild? (Again, I'm not a mechanic).

Really? You've never seen videos from people like JakeTheGardenSnake? I got myself a Triumph Datyona 675R (absolutely perfect supersport bike), and THEN discovered supermotos and suddenly my Daytona stopped being as fun as it used to be.
If you do decide to get a supermoto, I would advise against a Kawasaki KLX250SF - it comes from factory as a supermoto but the bike is so plugged up, it has barely any power. You'll still be able to do light offroading and hooning while riding stairs and stuff, but it's really hard to get the front wheel up on it.
If you can get your hands on a Husky 350, that bike has an ideal engine - the weight comparable to a 250 and power ratio comparable to 450. I still don't understand why Yamaha doesn't make 450 supermotos out of the factory...

I’m in my early 20’s, I’ve ridden dirt bike a few times in my life but have never owned a motorcycle. These past few years I’ve been itching to get on two wheels but the idiots I come across everyday on the road bother me about my safety on one. That aside I have lots of backroads and dirt roads that I used to cruise a lot in my car. I found that a dirt bike or a dual sport would be a path I’d take but honestly I’d hit the pavement with one of these as well and you sir have sparked a flame inside of me. I love your setup and I think I’m going to go this route. Thank you and stay safe to all riders out there. Im looking more than twice for you guys always✌🏻🤙🏼

I own a 2019 KTM 500 EXC-f that I converted to supermoto, fav bike I’ve ever owned, nothing even comes close, been riding 19 years with an assortment of types of bikes for comparison.
I know someone at a wr250x forum, where he did the same but end up selling his 2019 ktm 500 exc supermoto, saying his wr250x still feel better handling.
How much is it to swap to supermotto?

You should make a video about good cheap reliable bike to turn into supermotos that don’t require the extra maintenance that comes with a dirt bike, but that can handle commuting and being on a highway
There are a couple of 2007 yz450fs I've been thinking of pulling the trigger on for a winter sm project. Alot of people say get a wr450f instead but a dirt bike just seems much more fun!

I am currently looking for a supermoto as well but there aren't many for sale where I live and I can't afford to just buy a new one and convert it. Just keep looking every week to see what shows up and some day I will find the right one!
Here in Germany you can't really buy any motorcycle that you want unless you're 24 or above, so this restriction made me buy a Yamaha xt660x which you don't have in the US, and man I've fallen in love with it. The thing about it though is that it's a little too heavy but it's got all the power that I need. But anyways, you've motivated me a lot, have fun and stay safe CC and keep up the great work.

Kawasaki just introduced the all new KLX 300sm! 6k and fuel injected. If I only had the funds for all the awesome bikes I want.
I put a 04 crf450 rear fender on my xr650 and a ufo upfront, and ditched the huge headlight for one similar to yours...kept the dirtbike tires though.
Damn things really are fun🤙
Love the sumo style and usability. I would like to get a set of warp 9s for my bike. For now it will stay in dualsport trim though.
With Shinko 705 ADV tires on the 17" rims, you can go anywhere. I've taken my bike in muddy woods and never got stuck. These tires are dam near bulletproof too and will probably last 8k+ miles.

Those are cool BUT weigh nearly 100 lbs more! Also, mine is more versatile, I can throw on my dirt wheels and ride motocross or trails. However, my bike requires so much more maintenance .
Whilst supermoto is fun and I do it on my DRZ400E, you need to also put the dirt wheels back on and do some moto adventure / camping trips, overnight, 2 -5 days / night. It only takes 30 mins to change over the wheels and that is a whole different experience. Taking the bug out van is good but the challenge is to take everything that you need to camp and survive on your bike and travel through all different terrains to get there. We know that you are a loner but get together with a couple of like minded people and the adventure is such a great experience.

I like your 450 and I'm sure the power is great but it's just the maintenance is just to much for me. That is why I picked the Suzuki DRZ 400s...Very low maintenance and inexpensive also. I go on longer rides so I need a lower maintenance bike.
I had a DRZ and then I decided a needed a faster Supermoto. Bought an 09 Kawasaki KLX450R and had the faster bike! But,that power has a cost! I got tired of the rigorous maintenance schedule and missed my old DRZ.....

Adventure Awaits 400 at 316 when most 450 and 500s are coming in around 250. It might be a plus on the highway but any other time it’s a huge negative

New HONDA CRF 450 L, 289’pounds wet ready to go street or trail. Lighter than Honda’s 250’s dual sport. No messing with warranty with mods.
Looking for KX 500 2 stroke 63 horsepower, 220 pounds dry. I like dual sports if off road is nearby otherwise like pure dirt 2 stroke bike and separate street bike. You still need a car and trailers are cheap. Not into pickups but no need for trailer if own a pick up.

So cycle Cruza I’m 14 and I’m buying lights and that back peice you have and handle bar mirrors for my 2002 TTR125 and it’s kickstart only and doesn’t have a electric start does that mean I will have to buy a battery for me to power my lights and switches ?
If I ever got one I would buy one like the 701 rather than build one. Longer maintenance intervals and less hassle getting it legal and about the same cost. I know it is heavier, but I would still go that route.

Honestly you don't NEED all of this. I just use a basic street legal kit and different rims and tires. That's it, its been great for 5+ years😁

i would keep a dual purpose 250 cc for the van and all around bug out, modify it for endurance and reliability, last, do a dark paint scheme, a bit stealthy

Are you worried about throwing rocks and denting the 4.1 can? I love the looks of it but cant decide between aluminum powercore or that 4.1
You do know tubeless wheels and tube type wheels and tires have a different bead design.
They dont work right when mismatched
For the 17" supermoto wheels, there is no problem making them tubeless. I've had mine tubeless from the start, going back to Sep 2018. It holds air even better than my former sportbikes. Also, saves weight too!

Pretty much all supermoto tires are tubeless tires that people just put tubes in anyways. So making them tubeless is the way to go

I got a xt250 as my first bike I’m happy with it. I’m old and bad back so wr250 was too tall for me but I was looking at it.
@@jimmytheshark86 Not too concerned with speed. I just enjoy the ride, I rode the crap out of my TTR125 years ago, and that thing topped out at like 50 mph.

What’s the major difference between a super moto , dual sport , enduro and. etc are they basically the same thing with different names or is there something’s that make them different? I currently and always have been a sport bike Gsxr guy . The more I see these types of bikes on the road the more I’d like one.
If your a sport bike guy you would like supermoto the best. Supermoto is pretty much a dirt bike with street wheels, streetbike front brake (not like this guy has) and then you should have offset triple clamps too which make it handle more like a street bike, dual sports are just dirt bikes with all the street legal stuff lights emissions etc, usually made from their enduro bikes not motocross bikes. Enduros usually aren’t street legal from the factory they just have a headlight and tail for that style riding. they are dirt bikes made for the woods and enduro stuff instead of motocross style riding, different suspension setups 18” rear instead of 19”, gearing and trans setup different etc.
If you want to use it like a dirt bike with some on road then you go with a dual sport
If you want to use it like a street bike with some off-road then you go with a supermoto

Thinking about getting a dirt bike period. This 150cc bored to a 231 (moped) just not going fast enough.
How is the cooling? I’d like to do something similar but will have to do a ton of freeway.
See my latest YZ450FX supermoto 3 year review video. It explains it in that video and the other points should help you. This bike is not mean for the highway but I have never had an issue on the highway, however, I never do more than 15-20 minutes of highway riding and not often.

Probably bought the wrong bike a Lifan 250 Dual sport as a second/guest bike. Unsuitable IMO for the street.. unstable in a lean.. constant correction of the line required. The stock DSTires have no profile for leaning grip! Compound is wrong, too hard, not much pavement grip. Have a real road bike, just want this DSport to handle better:
First Step: I swapped to full street tires using the stock 21/18 DSport wheels. HUGE IMPROVEMENT in road manners. Stability/Confidence returns. At least I can closed control the lean as it happens without overshooting and correcting.
Second Step" Thinking I should drop the forks maybe an inch, the stance looks a bit high in the front? Some bikes let you adjust the height. Do you have any experience with this?
Beyond that, I might add some 30W oil to the stock fork oil or spring spacers? Satisfied as it is.

The farther back I go I can't see ahead of me. When I'm in a clear safer area I go back farther.
