Great video. Real like how you talk about how to care for crystalline and black shrimp in easy to follow steps. Good information about water parameters, aquarium filtration, substrates, decor, plants and feeding. Great job on this video. Thumbs up for the camera woman / man :) It would be fun to watch a video on a different shrimp species.
This summer was going good for me until my crystal tank cooked when the temp sat around 85 for over a week. I have one Crystal black left out of about 25 shrimp.
I didn't learn a little i learned a lot, I was going to ask some questions but every one I had was answered in the video. I was going to ask whats up with the tupperware containers in the tanks lol. Wait I do have one, what size were the tanks they were in? Thank you this video shall be saved!
He said in other videos that the tupperwares are just easier for when the substrate needs to be swapped out. Makes sense when you consider the number of tanks that they have to care for. Also said the tank size that works best for them is 20 gal.
FYI, "buffering" capability refers to the water property of how much pH will change when an acid/base is added, so it is incorrect to say that low KH has higher buffering capability than high KH. It's the opposite. Food for thought!
I just switched to Brightwell from Fluval. My Crystals and Blue Bolts are doing great with the Fluval, but my Taiwan Bees (except for the Yellow King Kongs) don't seem to be loving the Fluval.
If you had a 20 gallon long aquarium. Started with a neutral 7 pH with the water and then added 1.5 to 2 inches of Brightwell over the entire bottom as the substrate. What would expect the pH to be approximately after the tank cycles?. Again -Using distilled or RO water with neutral pH as the starting point? Thanks in advance.
My ph is 7.8. Do you recommend me heavily tannoning? I have absolutely no problem with cherries and my dad has some crystals that bred in similar parameters.
A question....with what type of water do you refill your top off? RO water or reminirelised water? To keep the parameters stable and to not go slowly higher with your TDS?
Can you put substrate on the floor but just for looks to while having substrate in the boxes to actually buffer the ph ? like it won’t be too much substrate that it lowers the ph to much ?
If you don´t siphon, how come you bare bottom tanks looks so clean? I´m just starting a colony o red and yellow sakuras and only after 3 weeks the bottom looks pretty nasty with all the shrimp waste. My setup is 10 gallon with bare bottom a almond leave being hold on its place with half a clay vase. My filter looks pretty much with what you have at the side of the display.
Reverse osmosis water drops down to 6.0 ph with Bee shrimp gh without using buffering substrate. Isnt that too low for crystal red shrimp? Should i use Salty shrimp gh kh? Another questions is, why is my ph under 6 with this product? Shouldnt it be 6.4?
Can crystal reds live and breed successfully around red cherry shrimps? How can I get their babies to live longer? I'm new to this species and I'm keeping them in the same tank as the rcs? The tank they are in is planted and has driftwood. And I use tap water with seachem prime.i also drop in calcium chips for the shrimps and ramshorn snails. I think the calcium also increases the ph...doesn't it?
Hi Im keeping crystal black shrimp s But my water ph is a little high So i use an buffer Which brings the ph down to 6.8to 6.5 Is it ok if i use this to decrease the ph Will this chemical effect the shrimps i use seachems
I bought some crs at my local per shop, and only have female got any males I can but off you guys? Also, I have the solid white shrimp also only female but I have one berrie female, would one of my tiger shrimp have breed with her?
I got 2 dwarf gouramis 3 Mm platies and 2 amano shrimp in a 10 gal. With 0 ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates with 0 aggression in the tank especially towards the shrimp and both my shrimp died in the first day I got them. I saw one swimming upside down and banging into everything and then landed and just layed upside down and died. Any idea why?
So 78 degrees for these guys are too hot?? Mine keeps dying after about 2-3 weeks... they look healthy and eats well but one by one it keep dying. Water chemistry seems in check and tank is been set up for about year and a half.
Hi Joseph, do you feed any mineral additive foods? They may be dying due to failed malts if they don't have enough minerals in their food to form a strong new shell. Rob mentions shrimp king mineral. This is the product I use and is on Rob's website - flipaquatics.com/collections/our-top-shrimp-foods/products/shrimp-king-protein?variant=43121808964
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing this with us :)
Thanks for all the great info! CRS are so pretty...

Great video Rob - Way to go Team FLIP Aquatics!
What a comprehensive video. Thanks for sharing this!
Love the new VO format

STL!
Loved the background music, very classy!
7:21 I've never heard about this, do I really need to take apart my tanks every two years or is this for a specific substrate?
Great vid! Enjoyed watching. Thank you for sharing!
This guys wicked happy
would you guys recommend seachem fluorite black substrate for the substrate to be put into crystal red shrimp tanks?
You shouldn’t have inert substrate

I love that plant set up i want to grow out a bunch of tissue cultured crypts
great video, lots of good info. Also like the format, almost thought I was watching a Nat. Geo show. Thanks
Great looking crystals!
I would love to work in a place like this.
I just switched to Brightwell from Fluval. My Crystals and Blue Bolts are doing great with the Fluval, but my Taiwan Bees (except for the Yellow King Kongs) don't seem to be loving the Fluval.
you should try ADA Amazonia
Can you list what diet you feed your shrimp. Please.
nice...thanks !!!
Damn got lucky with my local tap water being 6.8-6.7 ph and soft water but more might put fluval shrimp stratum into the tank just in case
Can i use mineral or spring water with lower ph to low ph?
Hello, I found that kh 1-2 will keep ph7or a bit lower, but it will low down after a few days, how do you keep the ph stable?
for buffering substrates you shouldn't use KH remineralizers because it will exhaust the buffers of the substrate
Ooh! Now I get why my CRS aren't breeding!
You got me hooked man ... :)
do you run the Flipaquatics online store?
how can i drop my ph???tap water has around 7.5....i am using peat and can't drop it under 7....
LoneWolf_RO im using ph reduce product..
it's ok now. i reduce ph with ro water and with akadama red line active substrate

What tool do u use to measure parameter/??
a TDS meter and an API Freshwater Master Test Kit would be my advice
Hi what food and vegetables are you feeding.
Here where I live they all to seem to keep the expensive shrimp in very low tds the prl and galaxy I purchased r all 70-90 tds.

What are some of those plants called.nice vid I learned a lot.
you sell them or where did you get them??? thank you
Thank you sooo much. 👍🏻 great video
How to enhance its colours? Any suggestions? Baby birth rate is very good but colour is very less. Does temperature of water also play some role ?
My ph is 7.8. Do you recommend me heavily tannoning? I have absolutely no problem with cherries and my dad has some crystals that bred in similar parameters.
Ain’t no way crystals survived in 7.8ph
@@ylogames9938 not impossible

Ro is reverse osmosis

Do you use only ro water ? Or fresh ? On your farm
Substrate goes bad??
Hi, great video, im cycling my bee tank, does substrate really go bad? or i can just add a tub on an already established tank (with "bad substrate"?

My country doesnt hace this shrimp salt can u recommend a different branch
Any disadvantages by keeping Cryptocrene with crs?
I dont think theres any. I am coming from aquascaping hobby and not a shrimp hobby thought
Will using Seachem equilibrium after a 10% water change every month like you recommended be ok to keep waters mineral content stable?
Reverse osmosis water drops down to 6.0 ph with Bee shrimp gh without using buffering substrate. Isnt that too low for crystal red shrimp? Should i use Salty shrimp gh kh? Another questions is, why is my ph under 6 with this product? Shouldnt it be 6.4?
can they be kept with guppy or neon in a 20 Long??

Hi
Im keeping crystal black shrimp s
But my water ph is a little high
So i use an buffer
Which brings the ph down to 6.8to 6.5
Is it ok if i use this to decrease the ph
Will this chemical effect the shrimps i use seachems
Really beneficial vdo bro
Do you find that crystal shrimp do ok in high tech setups with co2, ferts and 50% water changes weekly?
Thanks in advance
Crystal shrimp do not like huge changes in their water parameters
Maybe do a 10% change
I bought some crs at my local per shop, and only have female got any males I can but off you guys? Also, I have the solid white shrimp also only female but I have one berrie female, would one of my tiger shrimp have breed with her?

Try it! It's all you can do :) or get a tester!
Flip Aquatics - LupDiesel yeah they are doing very great they are moldin
My gh and kh is one off I your recommendation I think I'll be good
What are the Mattam Filters? I dont understand you
