  • If you have any questions about my book, Breathing for Pregnancy, How to find calm through the four trimesters, do leave a comment and let me know.
Your question may be about the writing process, as much as about pregnancy, breathwork, or the contents of the book.
Published on November 16th this year by Vermilion, an imprint of Penguin Random House, my book is a gentle, supportive, and original guide that I am extremely proud to be sharing.
As the name suggests, the aim is to support women during the pregnant and postnatal period. It has a strong focus on guiding the reader to states of calm and relaxation for themselves and, from there, their baby (partner, other children, too).
Whenever I teach, in classes and workshops, about the power of the breath, relative to the stress system, to anxiety, to fear, a comment often made is “this should be taught in schools.” I wholeheartedly agree, but, owing to me having no sway on national curriculums, this is one way I can share my understanding widely, and at a time where it really can make a difference to the next generation.
Breathing for Pregnancy is full of breaths, in written and illustrated form, and I have been sure, knowing how popular my music recommendations are, for the written instructions to include tracks and albums that aid in taking yourself to altered states.
Whilst it is a work of non-fiction, each chapter of the book opens with a story that unfolds over the course of a pregnancy, where I, accompanied by a stressed out and phone-addicted, pregnant woman, take a somewhat poetic and, I hope, quite moving journey together as she walks the path into and beyond birth.
It also includes recommended stretches for pregnancy, to aid the breathwork, and a huge amount of information about what happens to the body when the anxious mind is King, and exactly how breathwork helps.
It is a wonderful book to gift to someone in your life who is pregnant, who plans to be, or who has recently given birth.
You can pre-order the book, in print, audio, or kindle formats, over on Amazon. For those who like audio books, it will be me who reads it to you.

I hope that those of you who get a copy really benefit from what you learn, and so look forward to your feedback when it lands with you in November.
    With love
    Carolyn
