How High Were the Chances of Victoria Becoming Queen?

- It was the early morning hours of May 24th 1819 when the Duchess of Kent and Strathearn gave birth to a baby girl. A girl who would become known to history as Queen Victoria, a Queen that would reign longer than any of her predecessors, a woman that led the British Empire on its route to its height. The period during which she reigned would famously become known as the Victorian Era. All of this happened during a time in which it was not usual to have a reigning Queen on a throne.

Her chances were very high indeed. There was no senior brother to have children to displace her as George IV had no further children and William IV had no living offspring. Victoria's father was the next brother still living and he had no further children. The children of the younger brothers came after Victoria or were born out of wedlock and ineligible.
I wonder what would have happened if Charlotte had lived or any of Adelaide's children. Poor Adelaide to lose all her babies.
Make you wonder how different history would be
How heartbreaking that all your children die
The world stage would have been drastically different..We would still have problems. Just different problems.
If Charlotte and her son had lived Victoria would not have been conceived. Charlotte and her son died so there was a rush to produce heirs. Adelaide's daughters did not live long.
@@davidlogan4329 it's sad that many children did die back then, yeah it was some time between the death of Charlotte and the birth of Victoria
I think the same. And, that of Queen Anne. Poor lady had 17 pregnancies. She had many miscarriages, still births and the only one of children to survive long was one son who died around 10yrs. Had any of her children lived the Hannoverian dynasty perhaps would have never been. The Stewarts could still be on the throne today.
It is so wild to think how different twists of fate changes our history. But my heart absolutely breaks for Queen Adelaide, Queen Anne and Princess Charlotte. 💔😢
Pretty high when she was born and everyone was already in their 50s-60s but before that, close to zero. Her dad had 3 older brothers. It was astounding that George IV didn't take one for the family and just fathered more children. The other brothers' actions were kinda understandable because they were sure they won't get the throne. It's eerily similar to Henry IV who had 4 sons but only had one grandson (Henry VI) who got deposed and the family had to go through the illegitimate Beaufort line to get Henry Tudor.
Most Interesting !! Well Done > Thank you for telling Her Majesty's story.
Glad you enjoyed it

Stupid question. The only reason she existed, at all, was to become Monarch after the death of Charlotte.
