Fallout (Released Sept 30, 1997), is a post-apocalyptic RPG, developed by Black Isle Studios and published by Interplay Interactive. Roughly 200 years after the great war in 2077, you play as a blue jumpsuit-clad dweller of Vault 13. This vault in particular is one of several underground shelters in the desolate southern California region. The water purification chip in your vault is now failing, and the Overseer tasks YOU with venturing out into the wasteland to save Vault 13.

Caedo Genesis the detective special pistool from blade runner in the form of the .223 pistol, the LE bb gun is a reference to the real life red Ryder bb gun I believe. That is all I know. Will rewatch to see though.

You know what's cool: using the Fallout 1 & 2 weapons in New Vegas.
Knowing i can get my favorite pistol in nv to go through fallout 1 just feels like having my cake and eating it too 😆

I’m glad they didn’t change the plasma caster model too much, sick as hell
As a self-imposed challenge, I once played a game of Fallout 1 with a character who had PE 1 and AG1. To compensate, I gave him high IN, CH, and LK. On my way out of Shady Sands, I ran into the crashed UFO, and was able to make use of the alien blaster right up until the endgame. The poor range of that weapon mattered little for a character with a perception that low.

@@m0ntaggg Your AP is equal to 5 plus half of your Agility, rounded down, so this character started off with 6 AP, not 1. With the Bruiser trait, it would have been down to 4, but I didn't take that trait for obvious reasons.

I can completely agree with what you said. If you get the alien blaster, you win the first Fallout. It was after the first time I stumbled across the alien blaster that I was able to beat the first Fallout for the first time. When I saw the death animation of a person falling to ashes, it completely blew my mind and my stat points went to energy weapons, no more points went to small guns after that!!!
I stoped giving points to small weapons when I found the small guns book. Adter that It went all to the trader skills.
BB gun is the best. I love going for the eyes were the crits make your enemies get blown in half.

The .223 pistol is based on the pistol used by Rick Deckard in Blade Runner.

The .223 pistol, at least in Fallout 2, was always my favorite weapon. It was always dependable and fun as hell to use.
Also it is the best Small Gun in Fallout 1. Why is that? It takes standard AP to shoot, while Sniper Rifle takes more. MAybe only for weaker enemies Combat SHotgun ant 10mm SMG would be also nice. But .223 Pistol is great for all enemies, even Deathclaws.
The plasma rifle is really good when you get it upgraded by Smitty
I got the Car Salesman encounter as my first encounter in the game, before even reaching vault 15 :D

Hey +Caedo Genesis, great video! You missed one though! If you get friendly with the Khans, Diana can tinker with your laser rifle to extend the range making it a unique weapon. Try it sometime!
I now understand the Smitty Special, the unique plasma caster in Fallout NV DLC Gun Runners Arsenal, as the plasma caster is very close to the original Fallout plasma rifle texture
The Plasma Caster of NV is the same weapon as the original Plasma Rifle from FO1 and 2.
Turbo Plasma Rifle was a godsend in my first full play through recently. I had that with the fast shot trait and bonus rate of fire,better crits and more crits perks and it made destroying all those mutants a breeze. With 10 Agility and 10 AP I was able to shoot that thing 5 times a turn if I wanted and pretty much everything exploded in 1-2 hits.

Loved the video. I always pick up the game every few weeks or so and try a random spec /stat build just for the heck of it. The replayability is simply Godlike! Even more so in the sequel

After watching your fallout play through I decided to try an unarmed build and got the alien ship encounter and then bobs used car mart encounter back to back after leaving vault 15!!

I just finished playing Fallout 1 today and one of the two super mutant guards in level 4 of the cathedral where the nuclear warhead is located used a turbo plasma rifle.
I love fallout 1 but it's so easy to cheese the whole thing. Go straight to the brotherhood base, go do glow quest and just make sure you trigger the alien blaster event enroute to the glow (quick save until it happens). Get your power armor when you return and bam, 2nd best armor and best weapon in the game before you even start the main quest.

Fun fact: the .223 pistol is Rick Deckard’s pistol from Blade Runner, and the Fallout 1 description of it says that it was cut down from a rifle (hence why it uses .223 and why Irwin calls it a rifle). This is how Deckard’s gun prop was made for Blade Runner. The prop designers took a Steyr Mannlicher .222 Model SL and cut the stock off and cut the barrel down to make the pistol.

To break the game, get the turbo plasma, PE8 AG8, fast shot trait, Bonus Rate of Fire perk, and the sniper perk. You may have to farm XP from the respawning deathclaws to do this quickly. Then nothing will stand up to 5 shots a turn doing a tonne of Crits.
I got the alien blaster very early in my first playthrough of Fallout 1. It then sat in my inventory for hours until I got my energy weapons skill high enough to actually hit things with it.
When i got my first ever plasma rifle i mistaken it to be a harpoon gun lmao 😂

Another downside for the alien blaster is when enemies get desintigrated all of their stuff just falls to the ground and you won't be able to sort through the loot menu and if it's behind a wall then good luck trying to get those microfusion cells

Funny that the plasma cannon was supposedly a mining and welding tool rather then a weapon due it's bulky size and appearance, however, later developments for the US Army would lead to a more compact and smaller designs, such as the plasma pistol and plasma rifle. I'm such a fallout fiend, no pun intended.

Just noticed that the plasma caster in New Vegas called The Smitty Special is I’m guessing a reference to fallout 1. Plus some of the ambient sounds in New Vegas are from fallout 1 as well.

I just finished fallout 1 for the first time, my weapon progression was
10mm pistol
223 rifle
Assault rifle and later 223 pistol as a sidearm
Turbo plasma rifle till the end of the game
The turbo plasma rifle is so op. I remember I one shot killed mutants with a shot to the eye lol
The turbo plasma rifle and the hardened power armor makes the game much easier.

Got Alien blaster on my 2nd random encounter out of the vault way back when. (Year of release) first encounter was loads of brahmin.
You can also find the red rider bb gun at Killian's place if you're not averse to thievery.
I once got Red Ryder LE BB right after exiting th vault. The beginning of the walkthrough was a cakewalk but then I wasted all my ammo and had to switch to .223 pistol.
I still play this game Evey day on my phone

I sold the alien blaster for 5 science books and 2 gun books then saved and reloaded stole my blaster back and repeated till i had 26 sci books and 5 gun books and at lvl 3 i was at 80ish science lol and rich

So essentially the Alien Blaster and the Turbo Plasma Rifle are the two best weapons in the entire game.
The 14mm pistol had the same sound as .223. It was so annoying when enemies were using it.

I got the alien blaster went to the glow went down past level three couldnt figure out how to get to level 5 gave up went back to level 3 to get out game crashes. Reload my save go to level 3 same thing. Couldn't get out because I have to backtrack through level 3 to gtfo. Funny thing is my last save was before I got the alien blaster :/

I didn't find the turbo plasma rifle at the described location.
Made a character with 10 luck, I got the alien gun right after I left the vault, also found a nuka-cola truck with 10k bottle caps, hehe.
I threw away the 9mm mouser and it's ammo because I need space to carry the loot I found in the glow 😭😭😭

The turbo plasma rifle IS NOT unique and CAN be found without going to smitty .. a mutant under the cathedral has one.
