    The funniest thing happened when I started playing Fallout 1 again recently when it comes to random encounters. I just created my character and left the cave to Vault 13, I headed for shady sands entering the next grid on the map next to Vault 13 getting a random encounter. I thought it was going to be a radscorpion attack but then I saw a tipped over truck. Confused I looked around and found 8000+ caps in a crate. I had 8000 caps in less 10 seconds of exploring the wastes.

    • @SonsOfLorgar

      Yeah, there's a quest reference in f2 to that encounter

    • @engineer1able
      @engineer1able 5 лет назад +101

      The amount of caps you find near the truck is dependent on your luck value could be as high as 10500+ caps with luck 10 or a lot less with low luck

      Actually, way more likely to happen when aiming at the head (eyes - not so much). There's a low percent chance of instant death, no matter what HP does the enemy has. Also, it's also possible to get a 4x damage multiplier - again, pretty rare.

    Sad thing about Area 51: Going off of a map of Nevada, it's surprisingly close to Nellis AFB. Meaning that if they'd been able to make the game map for the Mojave just a LITTLE bit bigger, we could've had it in Fallout: New Vegas. Funnily enough, if you can remember where those aliens can be found, it'd basically be right on the opposite side of the mountains they parked their ship on.

      I hate to rain on your parade man but a majority of the writers for Fallout: New Vegas have left Obsidian and sadly Bethesda will likely never pursue the idea of “Fallout New Vegas 2” and honestly I don’t believe there’s a need for a sequel to New Vegas.
      It’s funny to think about the fact that Obsidian literally only had 18 months to make New Vegas and they made the best fucking entry in the series since Fallout 2 and contributed more to the series with one comically shoddily made game cobbled together in a year and some change than Bethesda ever did to contribute to the series ever since they acquired the rights to the Fallout IP way back in 2007 after Interplay went bankrupt and sold it off to Bethesda.

    There are a whole bunch of random encounters you can only get with having a maxed out luck skill in both Fallout 1 & 2. They are pretty zany, such as the Guardian Forever one that takes you back in time to your vault where you can get a unique weapon, the whale that apparently fell from the sky, and a group of brotherhood knights that sing Monty Python songs from The Quest for the Holy Grail!

    • @Tolwrath

      @@exi8550 The conspirarcy that Elvis was an alien or lives on on Mars is way older tha MIB. When Elvis died people didn‘t want to belive it and when many inpersonators became famous they were at times mistaken for him. This started the Idea that Elvis hadn‘t died, but was simply an Alien or that he left earth to live with the aliens on mars.
      So this encounter is likely joking about this insane idea and I understood it as even the Aliens became a fan if Elvis.
      MIB itself did the same thing and made a joke about this insane conspiracy.

    Fun fact:There is a reason for the giant dinosaur track easter egg, as well as possibly the gardian of tomorow one in FO 2.
    According to a conference with Timothy cain, very early in devellopement the plot of Fallout was to feature extensive time travel and even dinosaurs. It was of course changed very early in devellopement but its possible the enconter was kept as an easter egg.
    Mantises existed in FO1 and 2 before New vegas, yeah.

    btw, this encounter coincides with the original plot of Fallout, which, according to Timothy Cain during a live conference, involved time traveling and dinosaurs. While these aspects were ultimately scrapped for the new plot that later became the official Fallout game, a dinosaur footprint remained in the final release of the game indirectly in homage to the dinosaurs intended for the game initially in the form of a non-canon random encounter

    For fun, can we get an episode on the somewhat silly quest in Fallout 2, in Broken Hills, wherein through few errands and a treasure hunt, we can find that bottle caps have been replaced with a minted currency?
    And for plot, can we get an episode on the Secret Vault and Vault 0 (also I think vault 0 was recycled into Big MT)
    Now that you've completed Fallout 1, and read more about FEV, I'd like to posit that in Fallout 4, FEV was the reason they wanted uncorrupted, non-inbred DNA, not just for gen 3 synths, but for FEV experimentation (likely on clones via gen 3 synths). IIRC, not all gen 3 synths have the same DNA, which would imply that Shaun wasn't actually used as the basis for all gen 3 synths.

    • @Tolwrath
      @Tolwrath 5 лет назад

      Also: I'd still love an episode on the Sierra Army Depot, and its potential companion. I find that companion, and vault 0, are much more likely suspects for causing the great war than PAM. Alternatively, it may have happened in part because of Canadian rebels, as you can learn in the depot that there were some armed uprisings. This would help explain how 4 nukes got all the way from the Bering Strait to the east coast without being stopped at Cheyenne Mountain. (Vault 0 was located in Cheyenne Mountain as well, which could also be an explanation for how it failed to stop those 4 nukes.)

    The portrait of Elvis is probably linked to the joke that Elvis was an alien and did not die, but "went home" from Men in Black... The Red Rider LE BB Gun does AN INSANE amount of critical damage. And it has nearly 100% chance to score a critical. So it is a VERY good midgame weapon :) The fisherman is either a reference to "Moby Dick" or "The Old Man and The Sea".

    I can explain the portrait of Elvis.
    During a scene in the movie Men In Black, released in 1997, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, the two agents, K and J respectively, find themselves in a race against the clock and taking an express tunnel to reach their destination. With a press of a button, the car they're riding in transforms into a physics-defying monster that can drive on the walls and ceiling of the tunnel to circumvent a massive traffic jam. J is struggling with gravity, having obviously not buckled his seat belt, whilst K casually starts jamming out to an eight-track tape of Elvis.
    J question's his partners taste in music by asking, "You do know Elvis is dead, right?" Agent K responds by saying, "No, Elvis is not dead. He just went home." This implies that Elvis was an alien creature living on Earth disguised as a human being, which shouldn't be much of a surprise considering that the movie, as well as its sequels, implies that many Earth celebrities and political figures are actually disguised aliens. Fallout was released in October of 1997, only a few months after Men In Black.
