- On this new episode of Devs React to Speedruns, we caught up with the original creators of Fallout 1, Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky from Obsidian Entertainment, to see what they think about speedrunners beating their games at record-breaking speeds. In this video, we’ll be watching two speedruns. First, a one-minute speedrun for the Fallout’s worst ending, and a playthrough that includes all of the game's Good Endings. I've heard they also tried to start the "Catholic bishops react to child abuse caused by their local priests" series but they couldn't manage to make the bishops react.

its really cool just hearing 2 guys talk about a game they worked on together, its a nice perspective to see!
In case you haven't heard of it, Tim Cain has a RUclips channel (@CainOnGames) where he talks about game development and he's done two videos with Leonard Boyarsky talking Fallout and other games they've worked on together. Definitely recommend it!
Played Fallout 1 and 2 for the first time this year. 1 instantly became one of my favorite games of all time.
I’ve been playing it recently as well, really delightful writing, an interesting pre rendered/claymation combo artstyle, fun character building and combat mechanics and a haunting atmospheric soundtrack come together to make something special
me too,i'm currently playing fallout 2 and played fallout 1 last month. they're masterpieces honestly.
Same. Made me realize how much player choice the old fallouts had. Something as simple as being able to kill children (though you will get consequences) was cool. Also made me realize how stagnant Bethesda has been with the series but that's a diff convo

Played Fallout demo on Pentium 133 with my friend, we couldn't believe what a wonderful game it was. To this day F1 and F2 are the fondest gaming memories of my childhood. Thank you guys!

In the era of remasters, its criminal that Fallout 1 and 2 have been left behind.
This is so cool. Such a fun game to speedrun, and Wafu does an amqzing job of it.

11:35 that is a really nice example of how they think. It is called world building that makes sense. Does it make sense to put them underground and why? Something Bethesda or TV show never understood.
And for some reason: the Enclave, who kidnapped vault dwellers from the West Coast, overlooked this vault
But they also said they didn't intentionally design a lot of the most iconic aspects, just threw in a bunch of stuff that looks cool, and that putting the vault doors underground was probably not discussed as part of the world building - it just happened to work out that way. Not to mention almost every IRL fallout shelter has an above ground entrance.
Still some of the best video game music ever.

13:50 there are alot of those types of statues/buildings in fallout 3's downtown area but less in 4 and zero in New Vegas
i'm definitely more of a fan of the 3d fallout games, but hearing the dudes who put their sweat and tears into what started it all makes me smile

14:55, "none of the raiders survived"? Didn't he leave one? Can someone explain the Tandi-thing he was trying to accomplish?
The voice line says "None of the Raider survivors are ever heard from again: the trigger for this ending is "Kill Garl + 8 other raiders" or "kill 13 raiders". The idea is that with severed numbers and no proper leadership, they just dispersed and vanished.

Thank you guys for creating this incredible game, i'm sure the development was challenging at the time, but it also feels like you were passionate and had a lot of fun making it.
Hoping Cain & co ( and Bethesda ) not only do F1+F2 remasters but also do either/ and do a remaster and sequel of Microproses Fallout Tactics with the assumed " Destroy Calculator " ending. Wish for Fallout 5: Midwestern darnit😂 And Ron Pearlmans storytellingvis ace in F:Tactics! Also a New Vegas DLC for Fallout 4 and/ or 5 I hope Obsidian + Bethesda will do!

Josh Sawyer only worked on the Van Buren tech demo and New Vegas, he has nothing to do with Fallout 2
IGN - Have you guys ever thought of doing a Devs React playlist for No Hit Runs or other types of challenge runs? YeetsMeMario for example has multiple no hit runs in Elden Ring, Sifu, Lies of P, Thymesia, etc. There's a higher level of skill required, and rather than devs reacting to a gamer essentially exploiting the game, they can react to how well someone has mastered the game.

Joining the super mutants, they dip you in FEV and there’s a cut scene of super mutants killing everyone in Vault 13. First time a game ever made me feel guilty lol

Still the most amazing gameplay in the franchise. Only New Vegas among the non-classic games is more or less on the level. Fallout 4 is basically an average sci-fi shooter with no atmosphere.
Fallout 4 literally has the best gameplay of the franchise, besides 76. Yea the story and the dialogue might not be the best but the world is still very intricate and fun to explore
Fallout 4 became interesting with addition of survival mode, if you haven't tried it yet. And more frustrating haha.
