    I used to stress over details, and "science", trying to grow my hair. Then I learned that most people with hair longer than hip-length.... did nothing. They almost always use cheap shampoo and conditioner, don't give a hoot about sulfates or silicones, don't use heat styling, don't use a ton of products, eat whatever they want, and rarely if ever get trims. They wash it, condition it, brush or comb, bun or braid, and live life. For years. And boom.... long healthy hair.

      Of course yes, but not everybody can just leave it and do whatever they want and achieve the same results.
      I do agree over-doing it can be excessive, but different hair types have different needs- + genetics mostly factors into your hair type and rate of growth + maximum growth, although most girls and a fair amount of guys are able to achieve long hair, not rapunzel but enough for it to be worth calling truly long hair.
      I myself am struggling to grow my hair longer, and am just not the sort of person to go short- it's not me, I've always adored long hair, it goes with my personality and style, might try the rice water method since there's been some pretty positive reviews out of that.

    your "dry" "unmanagable" "frizzy" hair is literally just what all wavy/lightly curly hair looks like when it's brushed when it's not wet enough & not moisturised how wavy hair needs to be. You just have long sleek hair tied too much into your self esteem that u can't accept that it's short & wavy & looks best like that.

    ‘Fix split ends’ 🥱🥱🥱 girl the only thing that fixes split ends are a pair of scissors
    EDIT ~ I don’t know why some people in my comment are trying to tell me (a professional hair dresser) that you can fix your hair with oils and other b.s💀 You can definitely prevent it, however if you’re hair is already damaged and you have split ends above split ends, the only thing fixing that is a pair of damn scissors. You also cannot fix your split ends in ‘only 3 yeArS’ because over time your hair will just keep splitting higher up without a CUT. Treatment only makes your hair look good until the next time you wash it and it’s back to its normal state BUT sort your hair out with scissors first and get it looking healthy, THEN start using hair masks/creams etc.

    I see a lot of comments saying this girl should just accept she doesn’t have straight hair but I just want to add in my two cents. All my life I’ve had really silky, really long, straight black hair. Around middle school, I got highlights. My hair was fine at first but I had NO idea how to take care of it, and I had NO idea what products to use to maintain it, so my hair became very dry, frizzy, and ended up having random waves where I never had waves. It wasn’t pretty.
    Over the years, the only thing I could do is cut off the damaged highlighted parts (I had layers so I cut layer by layer, I didn’t cut all the damage off at once). So I’d cut a layer, use so many different products to help the health of my hair and continue as such. My hair still looked extremely frizzy and dry and weirdly wavy in places (mind you at this point all the damage was cut off and I was left with my natural black hair). And no I didn’t use ANY heat tools regularly. Growing up, my mom actually forbid us from owning any heat tools because of how bad the damage may get so heat has only ever touched my hair a total of 4 times in my entire life (I’m currently 21). And even then my hair was so frizzy and dry although all the color damage was gone. I left my hair as is and kept experimenting with new products and conditioners. Idk what it is, whether it’s my improved diet (I would skip a lot of meals in highschool cuz of how busy my schedule was) or hormones or whatever it is but eventually my hair the past two years has returned to its silky, straight state. It wasn’t easy though. When it became straight again, it was still frizzy. It literally looked like I took a heat tool to it and poorly straightened it. It looked like frizzy straight hair although like I said, I rarely use heat at all on my hair. Eventually though the oil production went back to normal and I don’t have that issue anymore. But I guess what I’m trying to say is that it takes a lot of time and a lot of experimentation. I’m not sure what your specific issue is, but I’m sure you’ll reach your goal one day. Best of luck ❤️

    • @jok1626
      @jok1626 4 года назад +5

      I'm normal well for me it seems like the highlights affected and damaged it since my hair went back to straight. But if this randomly happened to you, your hair is probably wavy now. I’ve read that hair can change throughout your life because of hormones, which makes sense since you’re in middle school now

      My hair used to be long and pin straight, thick, and practically perfect, THEN, I GOT A PUXIE CUT ADJSJDSJDJSSD. Once it grew out, the ends of my hair are curled up. Sometimes it looks perfect, with the curl facing out, or other times, it looks like a mess. Currently it looks like a mullet, because one year ago, the pixie cut had layers. Oh well, I like the texture, because having boring straight hair 24/7 gets boring and I would drool over wavy hair, well, I still do haha. Oh well, one day, one day.

    Honestly just as you can overwhelm your skin with a lot of products and methods of care, you can do the same with hair. I really wonder what her hair would be like if she just took a step back and just used a nice, lovely quality shampoo and conditioner as always that meets her hair needs like hydration and strengthening while washing, with a hair treatment like a deep conditioner or hair mask just once or twice a week. I feel like there’d be a lot less stress surrounding her hair care routine and trying to find new ideas and new methods. She seems like she puts her hair through quite a bit trying to make it look like how she wants it to, but I feel like all the products and methods of treatment she tries continuously might be stressing it out more and potentially having an opposite effect.

    • @elegant_peasant
      @elegant_peasant 3 года назад +5

      This!!! I agree. She’s overwhelming her hair too much. I am growing my hair with the most simple routine and it looks lovely. I use a good quality hydrating shampoo and conditioner and use the Miracle Hair Mask 10 once a week. I wash my hair 2 times a week. Before I wash it, I always apply a mix of all the oils I have in my house. Coconut, Olive, Avocado, Rosemary (love to darken my already dark hair lol), and almond. I let it sit for hours while I clean the house. Then wash my hair like usual. I also have a metal comb called Magnetix that I used when I had hair loss due to dermatitis. It helped with stimulating the scalp. I now find it helpful to promote my overall hair growth. I also comb my hair 2 times a day with a regular brush. I don’t use a straightener (only for special occasions) but I do blow dry my hair to get rid of the puffiness. I have straight her, yet it gets puffy so it really helps. It has never affected the quality of my hair. That’s my routine! :) it has become a habit by now lol

    honestly that length looks really great on you!! super chic
    also: something i would recommend as someone who has very weightless light fine (annoying) hair that can tend to frizz a lot is to spray rose water on your hair as it dries and brushing through it, i feel like for me this is basically like straightening my hair because you’re taking all the frizz and laying it down and letting it dry in that position, kind of like the silk press method you use. rose water also makes my hair really soft so that’s another plus. I know you get so many tips every single day but this is my one tip I would recommend that maybe hasn’t been brought to your attention yet

    Why don't you put anything on your hair after washing? I have frizzy hair and I don't live without a good leave-in. To me, it's the most important part of my routine. Frizzy hair NEEDS a leave-in! (Just like curly and wavy hair). In addition to lowering the pH, hydrating/nutrition/reconstruction masks, and stimulating growth (with oils and herbs, like rosemary, in the scalp), frizzy hair needs something that will "lock" that treatment you did in the shower inside your hair. Especially, to protect the hair if you're going to use heat to dry and straighten it.

      @@georgiad7983 Hey, Georgia! I live in Brazil, and the products I use are from brands that I know are not sold in other countries, or online. I have lived in the USA and realized that the variety of hair products in Brazil is much greater. My sister lives in Europe and I always send products from here to her, for the same reason. I think it's something cultural, because in Brazil we have a greater miscegenation and more "difficult" hair to deal with hahaha. But I've seen some videos, like this one: ruclips.net/video/9f6D1j91VJ0/видео.html and this one: ruclips.net/video/oTeS8nI5EVo/видео.html about some products that maybe you can find. My hair is just like yours! Wavy and prone to frizz. Long hair (75cm) type 2ab, with high porosity, and I like styling it straight more often (with hair dryer only). But it really depends on experimentation, though. For example, I never comb my hair without a leave-in on it, especially wet. So always before drying (naturally or with the dryer) I use the leave-in. If I'm going to let it dry naturally, I use more product, if with the dryer, I use less. My hair really likes oil (root and length), so I apply olive, coconut or castor oil once a week (leaving it for at least 2 hours and then washing it), and I always use a few drops of lighter oil, like argan, as leave-in (after drying it, then I make a bun to "calm" the frizz). This improved about 70% of my frizz, for real! My sister has used a little bit of the hydration masks I gave her (on her wet hair, before drying) as a leave-in and it has also worked. I'm a fan of no and low poo techniques, combining the two, and they have helped my hair growth and softness too.

      Try this routine its saving my hair from frizz. Shampoo of your choice, preferably sulphate, paraben and silicone free, i like shea moisture but your hair is fine and may find it too heavy. Noughty is another good brand in boots. Then use the hask protein conditioner, thickly coat the mids and ends, leave for 3 or more minutes, brush through with a wide-toothed comb, denman brush or tangle teaser. Then scrunch in the conditioner to really get it in your hair follicles and rinse off. You can brush it once more whilst its sopping wet but not once it starts drying, that creates frizz. I have a feeling you don’t like volume in your hair so apply these next products whilst wet not damp. Dry your hair a little with a t shirt of microfibre towel just enough to stop it dripping. Then apply a curling cream, again i like sm but that will likely be too heavy for you so try Aussie noughty. Using the praying hands method - don’t rake - to mids and ends mostly and scrunch. Then add a leave in conditioner- again noughty is good haha - using very gently praying hands method to ends and mids and scrunch with the towel again. I likr to then flip my hair gently as it dries to keep my roots mobile to create volume. Don’t touch your hair until it’s dry to scrunch out any crunch. If you do before it’s dry you’ll get frizz. Enjoy nice hair. Sleep with pineapple or wrapped to protect and in the morning you can re-wet it and scrunch and apply more products if needed to refresh
      Edit - I don’t reslly get grease but you can do this with dry shampoo and still wet it if you do and this method keeps me going for up to a week before i really need to wash it again

      Isabella, your reactions to these comments are not serving you. 100%, there have been rude comments. But many of the comments are simply advising you to let go of the silky straight dream for your hair and embrace your texture. And why are people stating this? Because your whole video at the start of this journey was you going on, and on, and on about wanting silky straight hair from Instagram, trying the CGM for a minute, deciding it’s not working, and going back to striving for straight hair. You have been replying to comments in past videos “thanks for the advice, but I really prefer straight hair on me” and continuing to advertise straight hair products. So of course everyone is going to assume that you still want straight hair and advise you against running down this road to nowhere. This is the first time I have heard you fully acknowledge that your hair is not straight anymore and that you are working on enhancing its new texture, which is great news for your hair. But it’s unfair to be so critical of people telling you to stop trying to force it to be straight when that is what you have been showing the whole time.

      @@WavingFan Lindsey, Thank you for taking the time to write this criticism in a constructive way. I have read and put thought into this so I hope you'll read my response. Some of my reactions have been very blunt yes, my frustration is real. But interestingly this comment you've just written also mentions many things that are no longer true, which further adds to my point. I make it very clear in that first video that silky long hair was a dream of mine for the past 6 years but that it is No Longer My Goal. I state in that video that my goal now is for healthy hair not long hair. Nowhere in any of my videos since then have I expressed my desire for that long thick straight hair that I once wanted because i already realized about a year ago that it's just not going to happen! My videos are purely about trying to make sense of what my hair wants and experiment with different methods to improve my hair quality, those Instagram hair goals are a thing of the past! So Yes Lindsey, i do know this. As for your reference - trying the CGM for a minute. very true, I didn't give it long enough which is why for the past 2 months i've been gathering research so i can give it a proper go starting next week in fact. You mention, my reply to a comment that I prefer how straight hair looks on me. yep that's true! I do, and i don't see what's wrong with preferring one hairstyle over another. but this is irrelevant anyway becasue I don't even let myself have straight hair unless i straighten it for a special occasion. 99% of my daily life my hair is left natural and wavy. so its upsetting to see people bashing me for straightening my hair in this one video (for a date i had that night actually.) - "continuing to advertise straight hair products." Interesting use of words there. it is not a straight hair product, and your use of the word continuing is out of context. I chose straightening as an element of my formula simply because I wanted to see what it would do. turns out it worked pretty well with the straightening iron, but i've actually decided to discontinue using it because it's no secret that my hair wants to be wavy. - Unfair of me to be critical of those criticizing me, Perhaps. But honestly, i think some people are just being plain rude which is unfair of them too. I can see where you're coming from and I have already decided i need to be much clearer in future videos, because it seems people are confused and stating things that are untrue, or assuming I'm holding on to the old desires from my hair story video. However, explaining every detail in every video is just not possible sometimes. Apart from trying to be clearer, I can only hope that people will use their common sense and understand that maybe there is much, much more to the situation than what they've watched in 1 or 2 videos. x

People on the internet only see the pieces you choose to display and they assume based on that just because you have only hair related videos doesn't mean you are obsessed with them. It goes with content you are currently putting out. I wish you good luck on on your hair repair journey 😊

      use OLAPLEX. go to a qualified hairdresser to get a gloss (NOT a dye) with no1 and 2 olaplex treatment. then maintain the results with olaplex no3 at home. it'll make your hair shiny, less frizzy and wavy but in a beautiful, disciplined way.

    I dont want to seem ignorant, I know you've probably tried everything. But I just want to offer some of my limited hair knowledge. Have you tried the 30 day plait/ braid method? Basically you just oil your ends and wear your hair in a protective style like a plait for every day for a month. It really helps to protect from breakage and just gives your hair a little boost.

    After 46 years of longish to very long hair, this is what I've learned. Thining and splitting at the bottom are extremely difficult to overcome past a certain point. I have pretty thick hair and it's difficult. You absolutely cannot allow splitting, fraying or thinning at the ends for more than a month. As soon as it shows up, cut it ALL off. Without you realizing it and no matter how careful you are those ends are constantly snagging on everything. Your clothes, furniture, and even itself. Once it's split and frayed it will always break and thin more in that area. If you want it to be as thick as possible at the bottom, you have to completely cut off from the upper limit where the fraying starts. You just do. There will most likely be a limit to how long you are going to go before your hair breaks. Mine is just above my waist. No matter what I do, my hair just doesn't seem to be able to hold up past a certain age and that's its upper age limit. If yours is significantly shorter than that, that's okay. It will still look longer to everyone else than it does to you. Shorter healthy hair always looks better than fraying hair thinner at the end. I've noticed I can cut off 4-5 inches of scraggle once my hair reaches a certain length and literally no one notices I got a hair cut other than it looks healthier. Those last several fraying inches don't make your hair look longer to anyone but you, so let them go and be at peace.
    When I'm really motivated to grow my hair out as long as possible, but still have it look good, I use 2 hair masks which I alternate and leave on for 2-3 days every couple of months. They are Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector and Rene Furterer KARITE NUTRI Intense Nourishing Mask. Hair masks are not conditioners and do not make your hair soft and silky. They make it stronger. I've never had a Brazilian blowout, but they make me feel like I've had one. Wash and use a light conditioner as normal. Wring out the excess moisture and very very gently brush the hair with a mini Harry Josh 174 brush (the gentlest but most effective brush I've ever used). Generously apply the mask and re-brush or comb as you go until it's evenly applied. I use a wide-tooth detangling comb, one where the teeth are triangular-shaped so they're wider at the top. Next, do nothing for as long as you can stand. I can go for 3 days if I have nowhere I need to be. In your case you could do the silk wrap once the hair dried, just brush very very gently since it will be a bit stiff from the product. Try to leave it alone as much as possible. A loose braid helps. When you can't stand the stiff hair a moment longer, wash with a gentle shampoo and condition with your favorite conditioner. That's it.
    It's worth saying again, your hair will always look longer to others than it does to you. When they tell you they think you're hair looks great and what are you talking about it's really long! Believe them.
    Side note: I've grown my hair to the point I almost sit on it twice, but those last 7 to 8 inches don't look good and when I cut them off, no one notices the length. They just notice I cut the crappy part off that was ruining the whole effect of long long hair.

    • @kandacehead9544
      @kandacehead9544 Год назад +1

      It’s just like lines in art. Hair tends to look longer when the ends are thick and blunt because the straight line of the blunt cut tricks the eye of the beholder into thinking that the length of the long hair goes beyond the point where the ends stop. When the hair is longer but the ends are frayed/uneven and thin, it seems shorter because the ends look dead (like a dead end in a road). The dead ends tell the eye of the beholder that the length of the hair cannot go on any longer.

    From my dermatologist: for me--and I know everybody's different but this is what works for me--5000 mgs of biotin a day, taken with food, will make hair grow big time. It takes a month or two to see the results but I've been using it for years and I also have very dry hair and it seemed to help with that also. And, I eat anywhere from 50-60 g of protein each day. again, per my dermatologist, because as I understand it, hair is not necessary on top of the head so the body puts the protein that you eat, where it needs it first. (and, the protein has to go thru the bloodstream, to the scalp, from the hair follicles. Not from shampoo, not from treatments etc.) Anyway--if you don't eat enough protein, the hair won't grow that day. Or it grows a lot slower. Make sense? Anyway I hope this helps. 🙂

    The thing is, is that when people are saying that you’re treating your hair texture wrong, they mean you’re treating it like it’s straight and you end up with frizz bc your hair’s texture is currently wavy. Even though you may not like your waves, focus on defining them vs trying to make it look sleek and straight. Bc it just won’t be. That isn’t your hair’s texture. Defining the hair’s wavy texture will make your hair look a lot less frizzy and more manageable even if there is a wave, it’s something you shouldn’t be upset about ❤️ it’s just how your hair is.

      Isabella Demarko i’m sorry , i didn’t mean for it to come across as rude . I should have worded it differently. I was trying to be helpful as you complained about having dry hair , and applying any sort of heat to your hair when it’s dry makes the hair break off and also burn off easier .

    You should really just stop using heat on it. I had similar hair to you and my hair is really intolerant to heat once it’s heat damaged it looks dry and frizzy. I haven’t used heat in three years and my hair is naturally wavy and very shiny and healthy now. Maybe you should embrace your waves they will look good on you!

      Emily no! please don't comment stuff like this cause i can tell you're a nice girl and you mean well but it feels like you're not paying attention. Did you not hear me say in the video i barley ever straighten my hair? i've done it like 3 times in the last year. 3 times! ive gone my whole life without using heat so believe me, just because someone never uses heat doesn't mean their hair is healthy! My hair damage is not due to heat! I know i have wavy hair all i'm trying to do is make them more managable. and i deserve to get glam and style it once in a blue mon if i choose to :)

      Isabella Demarko hello. Yes I did pay attention to your video, and to be fair you didn’t specify how many times you’ve tended to straighten it. To some girls “barely at all” might be once a week. I’m sorry my perspective couldn’t be more helpful, I hope you find a solution soon.

    We all have to work with our hair growth cycles to have the length that is best for us. Some people have 2 year cycles, so can only grow hair that's about 12 inches long, and some people have 6 or 7 year cycles, so can grow hair that is 3 or 4 feet long. Most of us are somewhere in-between. When we grow our hair longer than the length of hair we can grow from the top of our head, the layers that grow from the nape will be longer and our ends thinner. If we cut our hair just a little shorter than where the hair that grows from the top of our head stops growing naturally, we will have the thickest, healthiest hair we can grow, with the bluntest edge. Your hair looks fantastic when you cut it for that simple reason. It also happens to really suit you, but I used to have my identity really tied up in super long hair, too, so I understand the way you feel. I'm going to go look at your recent video with the fringe because I think that style really suits you and medium length hair with a fringe is the hairstyle of the truly cool. It's edgy and chic. Really long hair is neither really.

  • @Zzzziya

    It may sound unbelievable to some but here goes my story.
    So I was born with curly/wavy jet black hair it was quite thick so thick that it was hard to manage so I tried all sort of home remedies to make it a bit manageable it didn't work so that's why I thought to get it permanently straight by keratin hair straightening treatment, it was quite good for a few months but after that my hair started falling out in huge quantities and it was getting thinner and frizzy than before day by day I was going crazy and tried everything I could to get back my old thick hair back but It didn't work so what did I do? Well I gave up yes I gave up doing anything to my hair, hair masks, treatment etc I just washed my hair with shampoo in 2 days and didn't even use conditioner sometimes cuz I was mad that the more I cared it was getting more worse so i stopped caring.
    And after a year of that struggle now my hair kind of gotten it's old self back on it's own it's funny that when I cared about it it was getting worse and now that I don't it's back to normal I don't know what is this mystery with my hair maybe it just doesn't like any sort of chemical products or even natural remedies? Idk. It's still frizzy tho but your silk scarf method that you mentioned in your other vid is quite effective for getting rid of frizz.

      Isabella Demarko are you sure? Because your hair has a hard time absorbing moisture which is why it's dry all the time and, frizzy. I'd look into seeing if it's truly high porosity.

    Idk if it helps you but try to tie your hair loosely and use oil once a week. And Treseme keratin pro [red one] acc helps to control that frizz. I had frizzy hair but using this shampoo for like 3 mnths and seriously my hair is now, not totally frizz free but less frizzy.
