The one thing she doesn't show you in the tutorial is that you have to have both Reverse and Dither's boxes checked in the top center of the screen. You'll find them next to the opacity
ik its a quick tutorial but slowing it a lil bit slower would help more

When i go to put gradient tool it leaves the face blurry instead of the back
