I don't think people REALLY understand that ‘Superman Returns’ (2006) was a direct sequel to ‘Superman 2.’ That's why Luthor knows where the Fortress of Solitude is and how Superman knocked up Lois. Most people I hear say that they just didn’t really like how Brandon Routh portrayed Superman, but Brandon Routh captured the spirit of Chris Reeves perfectly. He looks just like him at that age (Reeves was also in his late 20s during the filming of the first 2 movies) and totally sold me on this being the same boy scout/awkward dork character from those films. I agree Kate Bosworth was miscast being too young to play Lois (she was 23, while Margot Kidder was older than Reeves during the earlier movies), but as far as acting goes she, much like Routh, captured old Lois very well. Luthor seducing a rich old lady to get him out of jail and inherit her money sounds like something he'd do in the past movies. It's absurd comedy! A staple of the old films. And most people complain that the ending was quick and convenient when that was the case with the earlier films as well (time reversal, anyone?). @@ZayneFerguson nope. Hasn't been confirmed by anyone at WB, who hired the original writers for the canon. Like I said, it is a spiritual successor. Same stories, same characters, with some elements from Kingdom Come. Still not canon. It's like DCeased or any what-if series you see in comics. Same characters from the main continuity, but with different stories/timelines. Even Superman Returns wasn't a direct sequel to the Donner films, because they didn't have flatscreens or cellphones in the 70s.

Crisis isn't canon with this movie. It's more of a spiritual successor with some of the same elements.
@@stage4423 I believe the writers had gotten permission to give it an ending. Since it never got it's sequel.
yo momma's toilet It’s been confirmed that it’s the same canon
@@ZayneFerguson nope. Hasn't been confirmed by anyone at WB, who hired the original writers for the canon. Like I said, it is a spiritual successor. Same stories, same characters, with some elements from Kingdom Come. Still not canon. It's like DCeased or any what-if series you see in comics. Same characters from the main continuity, but with different stories/timelines. Even Superman Returns wasn't a direct sequel to the Donner films, because they didn't have flatscreens or cellphones in the 70s.
Which means it’s also a continuation of the OG Reeves movies. This Superman canon is officially the longest running live action superhero canon of all time
Classic ending
Mathan Mano did lois wants superman or Richard
The best ending in a superhero movie
I think thats why i love the movie, well the one of many reasons.
Stoyan Dimitrov this scene and the baseball ⚾️ stadium 🏟 are the best in this movie
@@stefanmovieflixtomasi Yep it was a good movie. The best moments are if i can list them in order of course:
1)The plane rescue
2)the bullet stopper
3:)the lifting the Kryptonite island (continent) island into space
4:the ending
they are other good scenes too but to many to put on the list just those 4 scenes are stuck in my mind when i watched it first
loved the movie, i still do. Even played the game to it you know the one one the Xbox 360 Superman Returns based on this movie it has its problems but it was the BEST Superman game you could hope for.
While not perfect, this film was much closer to the character of Superman than Man of Steel was.
After this film and the episodes of Crisis on Infinite Earth and Supergirl, I hope Brandon Routh comes back as Superman.
Like in the scenes in Superman Returns where you only see him as Clark Kent, Brandon really captures Christopher Reeve's spirit
To Brandon and anyone else associated with this masterpiece of film. Thank you. These years later, thank you.
This movie never got the credit it deserved,
(This) Superman will return.....in CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS
Yeah, brandon was good superman, its great to he back
Superman a legend
Yeah, but that probably means louis and his son are dead
CANT WAIT . THIS SUNDAY
@@antonietazl4098 they are, and it's sad
One of the most underrated superhero performances
Nothing against Cavil, but in my mind this was the closing chapter in the Superman trillogy.
Man of Steel was an origin story
@@jaytee4374 And a terrible one at that. A dark Superman movie is like porn with a lot of dialog. It's not what we came here for.
@@DJ_Force Personally I loved MOS. It finally made Superman cool. That's when I really became a Superman fan
@@jaytee4374 Well, to each his own. I expect a dark Batman movie, but Superman was always a hopeful character. I don't need a gritty movie about a man in a onsie flying around. I want Thor, not The Dark Knight.
@@jaytee4374 Superman doesnt have to be cool, the character wasnt created to be in that way, he is just a person who cares about being a light of hope to people, trying to help in everything he can always smiling and being a savior, not Someone who is dark and gritty
The bond between father and son can never be broken
Nicholas Beharry that’s true. Someone said that a father is a son’s first hero and a daughter’s first love
Yeah even my dad and I don't always see eye to eye as much we use to be very close but as I got older things changed but we talk at times and see each other
I remember watching this scene when I was a kid. Such an underrated film
The one thing about Brandon Routh is that his balance facial aesthetic had me fooled thinking a lot of the flying scenes were cgi when it was really him.
It is very regrettable this movie didn’t have a sequel
this is the Superman I love with real feeling & a old & the new RIP Chris
진짜 활공 장면은 멋지군요 진정한 슈퍼맨 은 이 작품이 마지막이죠 ㅜㅜ
I'm always around. Just don't expect me to pay child support or help with homework.
BigNoseDoggie LMAO
BigNoseDoggie lol
He can help in homework if he wants cuz in the comics and cartoons super can calculate the amount of beans in a closed jar in sec. That's cuz he has a super brain......
+BigNoseDoggie That is more like what YOU would say!
Child support? With Lois's salary, she won't need it
And Clark is smart enough to homeschool thr boy through college courses
I wasn't a fan of this when it came out but dam has it grown on me..
That kid look just like dad son of Superman
I love how he quotes the words from Jor El from the first movie.
I love Superman Returns film.
The best recent Superman movie.
One of best superman stories
One of the best movies of my lifetime. So much respect, love to characters, and emotion.
nice love between dad and son
Mudit Jawal such a wonderful bond between father and son.
i love the way he fly, no sonic boom and he doesn't make a crater in the earth every time he lands just like Christopher Reeve's version
Watching Superman Returns again, I wonder how come Brian Singer, the director, made his hair part on his right side instead of the left.
I don’t care what anyone says - best Superman movie.
that is the satisfying fly of superman that I love❤

This is Kingdom Superman..
I love the ending. They pay homage to Christopher Reeve by having this Superman fly into space and over the earth like he did in the first 4 films. No so much in Man of Steel though.
agentbl and smiling at the camera / us
agentbl they actual did in the first flight scene in man of steel
Uhh did you miss the part in the First flight scene of MOS where he flies into space? That was a completely obvious homage to Christopher Reeve and his Superman
Andrew Vincent he was trying to say that he didn’t do it has Reeve or Routh did. As in, he’s not the right person for that.
Even if superman had a son it would be kept secret the amount of enemies he has would use that against him.
SuperCHAD! Got Louis all messed up. Left her with his seed and then hand Richard step in the complete his saved game. Bam!
Bryan Singer said the flying scène at the end was to pay homage to Christopher Reeve.Personally, they never gave Brandon Roth the due credit he deserves for doing a great job portraying Superman in an otherwise shitty script .I mean come on.....Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, Lois Lane married to another guy and Superman having a kid ...please!
deltafour1212 I actually liked all those things
Well since because this is a direct sequel of Superman 2. So this is an alternate timeline where the events of Superman 3 and 4 never happened
I think Kevin Spacey as Lex was actually a good choose.
@@peterbenjaminparker8572 Yeah, sort of. But I think since DC is really into having multiple universes, that the events of Superman 1,2,3, and 4 all happened on a different Earth, while the events of Superman 1,2, and this movie happened on Earth-96. Just a theory.
@@sebastianmolina5606 No, not at all
Since 2013, after watching Superman Returns, I never thought Man of Steel would come out 6 years later.
Think about it, Superman Returns came out in 2006,
Man of Steel came out in 2013
I can't wait to see Brandon Routh as Kingdom Come Superman.
Can’t believe they pushed him aside to glorify Lex Luthor.
I’m glad Superman has Jon on the comics.
Then Barry wrecks the timeline, and *Brightburn* happens...
@Detective X. Lmao😂
And he returns as kingdom come superman in crisis on infinite earths
