@@cfd3384 pacing wasn't the only problem. Superman looked like a parody because of that terrible costume which is ironic since Batman got such a good costume just a year ago, there were no action scenes and Superman only gets beaten up, and there was literally no story except Superman comes back. It would have been good if this was a completely new story like Man of Steel, but it's a sequel to Superman II.
I felt overwhelmed and my eyes filled up when I heard Jor-El speaking: "They can be a great people Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show them the way." What a powerful scene. In some way we can all relate, despite being surrounded by people we live a very lonely life in this world. You can see the tears in his eyes too. What an amazing scene.
Another thing that gives me shivers is the fact of him hearing all (or a lot of) the Earth's voices, be them from radio waves or actual voices... makes you feel so small in the Cosmos, thinking of any other (good) species catching each single one of our earthly sounds. Simply majestic.
What people don’t realize is that this scene was taken from the Alex Ross SUPERMAN graphic novel. It was a great illustration made into a movie scene. It was well done
I absolutely loved the depiction of Superman’s flight in this film. Mostly graceful. He had the power to go to incredible speeds but the music and the graceful flights are very nice to look at.
This is the kind of Superman I like, calm, collected and above all, saves people, it's what he does. He doesn't break buildings and jeopardize thousands of lives, like Man of Steel, he just saves people, he's just a good guy.
You tend to forget. This is an established Superman based on the Christopher Reeve movies. Henry Cavill is a newborn Superman. Just cuz he's wearing a suit doesn't give him the experience. It's not that man of Steel was heartless or didn't care about people. He just hasn't got the experience Superman Has in this this film. Both movies are good for what they are. Although I couldn't agree with you in one area, I didn't like the direction snyder was going to go later on with Superman. Superman should never turn evil.
“Even though you’ve been raised by the human being, you are not one of them. They could be great people Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you, My only son.”
i used to hate this movie but then realized how much emotions this movie shows of how superman has to go through all these changes he didn’t expect would happen and you could feel it
So much heart in this scene that wasn't in Man of Steel. This is my superman. A man lost trying to find his way in a world that's adopted him as there savior. Showing him lost and alone, listening to people cry for him. It is something that can be resinated with an audience in every generation
Man of steel was better in all levels. It scored higher, it had a good fresh story instead of riding off of Christopher Reeves Superman. Supermans climax was him throwing a huge rock in to space. GTFOH
The rest hate on every superman movie bcuz they cant deal with the fact that no other superhero can top superman no matter what anybody says..the respect is due to the first best super hero of all time
This clip is poignant. Superman hears that Lois never loved him -- that's got to hurt -- then he floats above the planet and listens to all the agony of the world below him. I don't know what anymore anyone could expect from a super-man. Yeah, this reflects true heroism and sacrifice. He continues to be a protector of the planet after having his heart ripped out. The movie didn't get the recognition it deserved. I also loved John Ottman's score that blended so well with the original John Williams' music.
I think Brandon’s reprisal of the role in crisis added to this scene, he became a superman that lost everyone he loved but never lost his light, he still fights for truth and remains hopeful, Brandon’s superman was a true hero through and through
It had great scenes and potential. The film rubbed people wrong for several reasons: Superman spying on a family in their home, he has a child out of wedlock (he’s a dead beat dad), he’s sad and serious most of the film (a problem people also had with Cavill), and not much action. Dealing with an “island” isn’t very exciting or fun to watch. Something should have come from that like an alien monster. It needed more action and more fun. Especially true when little kids watch it. It’s difficult explaining to your 7 yr old why Superman is sad and why he’s not with his son. Also Superman gets beaten twice in the film, there’s two death scenes that are difficult for kids to watch.
Brandon's Superman is so underappreciated. He nailed both Clark and Superman, IMO, and should not have received the fallout from the movie underperforming. I was so happy to see him revisit his Superman and close the arc in the Arrowverse crossover.
DanielJohn19 it's sad cuz I don't think we will ever get a true superman movie again. The general audience will find it to corny . Most just know superman cuz he's been around forever but most don't read his comics
@@Kal-El207 Buddy, this barely has the bare minimum to be a Superman movie. I don’t think Brandon Routh even acts in this movie. I’ve never seen a more stoic, emotionless, flat Superman in any movie or show.
Although I didn't like this movie, I can say this is the best scene in the movie. This is why. It's a powerful scene symbolizing Superman hearing all of the world's suffering and having to deal with this every day. Since he can hear everything, it's like Superman's head is Pandora's box. That's heavy...
One of the most touchy moments in the movie!! Any kryptonian would be as powerful as superman!! But what makes kal el different is his love for humanity.
"Even though you've been raised as a human being, you are not one of them. They could be a great people Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way."
When i saw this movie in 2006 in big screen in in bangalore.. I was just say Wow.. What a movie.. I just love it. Brandon Routh your my favorite superman.. Your perfect.. I love this movie and i love you Brandon Routh😍😍😍😍😍😍👌👌👌😘❤️
He does what he can to help humanity, ALL of humanity, and make his home (the only one he has left) a better place for all, as well as being an inspiration and example of what one good man can do. He's not perfect and he knows it, but that doesn't stop him.
"Even though you've been (picked for the role) you are not one them (critics/audience), they can be a great people (Brandon) if they wish to be, they only lack the light to show the way (To see the vision of what this Superman movie portrayal was going for, where the audience may not be ready), for this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you, (Brandon Routh)"
See this is what makes superman so great and unique among the other heroes. Sure he's a part of the justice league and the other heroes are back on earth and other planets fighting and living. But it's superman that floats in silence among the very people that he feels an outsider to, and he listens to their problems and answers their calls. He's on a league of his own.
The fact that he's being treated like an alien is worse than you can ever think. Brandon Routh will be forever my superman after Christopher Reeve. His acting is so realistic.
This very scene is the masterpieces this particular one. It’s just the way he expresses his loneliness, the music, the narrators voice and the atmosphere is just way of the limits. A lot of people struggle to find their path in the life so that’s why that feel this way, but he thought, he does what he supposed to and still he feels that there is missing something. Perhaps it’s not the purpose that person should be looking for but for the place we all call home.
People complain about Superman Returns because it had way too much emotion, because Supes was "too human" in this movie. Now they are complaining that Man of Steel didnt have enough emotional parts (I don't feel that way thou). Seriously, wtf? Both movies are great.
watched this movie again on netflix. i dont know why but superman here feels much more real than the one in man of steel. the action scenes arent great if there were any but i actually care about the superman here. man of steel was a ton of fun but i couldnt care less about the character.
When saw this movie in theaters i was 16 years... This was a after Christopher Reeve movie as superman in CD.. Superman returns is favorite movie and this movie scene is my favourite i love superman when was kid and i love superman forever 😍😍😍Christopher Reeve, brandon routh, henry cavill and all as superman i love you.. we love you forever 😍😍😍😘😘
Even though youve been raised as human being your not one of them, they lack the light to show you the way. They can be great people they should be. For this reason above all for capacity for good. I have to them you. My only son!
Superman represents the best of mankind it shows the world that we can do greater things if you were to look at Superman from a religious perspective you do understand that he is in some ways a god Superman is like Jesus Christ because he loves mankind the same way any person can love another Superman is also willing to sacrifice his life even for people he loves even for people that hate him because like Jesus Christ Superman is willing to take on the sins of mankind and is willing to sacrifice himself to ensure that the world continues to live on
Whoever wrote/put together this scene truly understands the ideal behind the Superman character. It's a perfect scene.

I was so happy to see him revisit his Superman and close the arc in the Arrowverse crossover.
in all superman movies this superman scene is the best. no one can beat this
If this film was released instead of Superman 3 in the early 1980's, it would have been well more received than 2006.
Oh totally agree
DanielJohn19 it's sad cuz I don't think we will ever get a true superman movie again. The general audience will find it to corny . Most just know superman cuz he's been around forever but most don't read his comics
dannyhuskerjay this movie was a good middle ground,he didn't brood his face off butt he wasn't corny either.
But*
"i have sent them you,My only son" Chills,Straight from the bible man,I love this scene Showing who superman truly is
Amen and one day very soon Superman/Jesus will return to Earth just as Luthor/Lucifer is threatening it the most.
@@jerrycoffey6506ironically enough, lucifer was never the name of the devil in the Bible
Like God and Jesus Christ....
A Father sends his Son to Earth to save all man kind. Love the symbolism here.
Superman Returns had it’s issues but Brandon Routh was NOT one of them. The most underrated Superman of all time imo. Wish he got a second film
That opening his eyes and flying off is epic 🔥🔥
There is ABSOLUTELY *nothing* wrong with this film. Nothing.
Finer and finer, like wine.
This is a safe, boring movie. This scene is a masterpiece though.
@@thefilmwatcher1302Only boring if you’re NOT a Superman fan. Otherwise if you are one, this film is GOLD.
@@Kal-El207 Buddy, this barely has the bare minimum to be a Superman movie. I don’t think Brandon Routh even acts in this movie. I’ve never seen a more stoic, emotionless, flat Superman in any movie or show.
Henry Cavill 😂@@thefilmwatcher1302
I agree, this movie gets finer like wine with every generation. I feel more connected with this scene than i was when i was a kid.
This has always been one of my favorite superman scenes since i was little. I've always loved the shot of him just floating in space
Best Superman scene for me. I LOVE that BOMB!! sound when he Flys back into the Earth's Atmosphere...WICKED!!
I was 8yrs old when I watched this scene for the first time and I've never forget them. I remember them every once in a while and come to this video
When i saw this movie in 2006 in big screen in in bangalore.. I was just say Wow.. What a movie.. I just love it. Brandon Routh your my favorite superman.. Your perfect.. I love this movie and i love you Brandon Routh😍😍😍😍😍😍👌👌👌😘❤️
brandon with the man of steel costume, will be perfect,,,
He does what he can to help humanity, ALL of humanity, and make his home (the only one he has left) a better place for all, as well as being an inspiration and example of what one good man can do.
"You're not one of them"
True words
One of my favorite movies. The hate this movie gets is criminal. Brandon Routh is my favorite superman no debate.
Sham Sher I see your point
I love superman he was ment to be like Jesus if u didn't know
Sham Sher Spot on, a god living amongst mortals.
U just made my day, you truly understood him
Exactly.
Ok I haven't seen the full film but that is the best representation of super hearing ever
For what are you waiting? Go and watch it!
I’m glad this film exists
Because it continues from the original superman trilogy
👏
@@SajidKhan-ed7cz it’s an amazing film
One of the best and under appreciated Superman movies.❤
00:23 - The Superman-Saviour-Floating!
Gotta love that Sonic Boom.
I used to find this boring as a kid but as I’ve grown up, this movie is like fine wine.
he was all alone too......
What makes him human is the conflict inside his heart, soul, and spirit to simply maintain...
It's the perfect use of scenery, sound, sound silence and stunning cgi
This was the movie that gave Supes the sonic boom aesthetic in live action
I always get choked up on this scene...it is wonderfully well written and put together...
Even a superhero can be heartbroken too 😢
The fact that he's being treated like an alien is worse than you can ever think. Brandon Routh will be forever my superman after Christopher Reeve. His acting is so realistic.
THIS movie along side the Dark knight trilogy should have been what started the DCEU.
As far as I know they did in fact plan a Christian Bale/Brandon Routh crossover, but Nolan wasn't having any of it.
Hell no. BatBale could barely handle a couple of Rottweilers. What is he gonna do against a parademon? Lmao gtfoh
Brandon Routh's Superman flight is very satisfying
Such a powerful scene. To have ultimate power but to be completely alone
Seeing the responses in here for this scene makes me realise other people “ get it” this scene is very clever and is also very moving.
This film came much closer to capturing what Superman I and II had than Man of Steel.
I'm 18 and I recognize him as a great actor. Then again I'm a huge fan of film and I've seen many, many films.
I watch Hollywood for scenes like this. Beautiful clip
Great Movie, shame people didnt see it then
I love superman returns
This movie is very underrated
Brandon Routh is a perfect fit for the Superman role. He's so handsome
Superheroes + poetry is so inspiring
It seems those new movies forget that.
At least Superman Returns and Man of Steel were able to erase the bad memories of Superman III and IV.
i have sent you, my only son. GODAMN goosebummpppppsssssssssssss
Funny how you can so clearly see the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit at work in these sequences.
Everybody loves (and hates) a hero. =)
Queue Snake most Christ-like reference in any of the Superman films... the scene later where Luthor pierced him in his side sealed it for me also
Queue Snake where is the holy spirit?
Instantly when I watched this all I could hear in my mind was John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His ONLY.... begotten Son.
COULD YOU IMAGINE YOU HEAR SO MANY CRIES FOR HELP. IN YOUR MIND.
People complain about Superman Returns because it had way too much emotion, because Supes was "too human" in this movie. Now they are complaining that Man of Steel didnt have enough emotional parts (I don't feel that way thou).
Seriously, wtf?
Both movies are great.
I'll miss bradon routh's superman
The Ghost Me too.
The Ghost me too
He was incredible. I'll defend this movie as a diehard Supes fan, all day. They got him right.
He need a second chance like Ryan Reynolds with DP. ....He can be superman in another universe.
Brandon deserved it he's a good superman =,(
x Beacon x 76940 he is coming back my guy
Brandon Routh also played Ray Palmer and the traumatized Kingdom Come Superman.
watched this movie again on netflix. i dont know why but superman here feels much more real than the one in man of steel. the action scenes arent great if there were any but i actually care about the superman here. man of steel was a ton of fun but i couldnt care less about the character.
This very scene is the masterpiece, this particular one.
Crazy underrated film
I shed some manly tears in this scene.
Superman is NOT ONE OF THEM
Even though youve been raised as human being your not one of them, they lack the light to show you the way. They can be great people they should be. For this reason above all for capacity for good. I have to them you. My only son!
He is as human as i am. Thank you
Maybe not the best out of all the superman movies, but this very powerful scene is the very best!
Personally my favorite out of all of them.
That’s how I feel everyday worst feeling ever
Idk why i keep coming back to this video. Gives me good feeling
I love this scene
When Jor El said I have sent them you my only son. It gave me chills and reminds me of God when he sent Jesus Christ to Earth.
It's like God in heaven, listening to prayers
Literally.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Superman represents the best of mankind it shows the world that we can do greater things if you were to look at Superman from a religious perspective you do understand that he is in some ways a god Superman is like Jesus Christ because he loves mankind the same way any person can love another Superman is also willing to sacrifice his life even for people he loves even for people that hate him because like Jesus Christ Superman is willing to take on the sins of mankind and is willing to sacrifice himself to ensure that the world continues to live on
Great scene from a great movie
Brings a tear this scene..
0:28 chills!
This scene alone was better than the movie!
so emotionall
I enjoyed this movie.
The most underrated movie ever
When I was a boy, I prayed to GOD to become Superman.
But, we should know that Joshua, is the living One, whom GOD HAD SENT.
