      I think RDJ probably had an excellent idea of how huge it could be -- LotR had already shown that a well-produced fantasy epic could draw huge and loyal mainstream audiences. jon favreau mentioned in an interview that RDJ was heavily invested in the character and script, frequently insisting on modifications and adjustments to make the story more credible and characters more believable - bending MCU's vision of Tony Stark into a role that meshed well with his own style and priorities. RDJ wasn't interested in being in movie for the nerds -- he wanted it to work for everyone, and most definitely knew that it could be a decade-spanning franchise.

      It's not true at all. The film owes a great deal to digital technology, as do all those that followed. There are whole scenes where we only see the digital version of the armor and can't see the difference with the traditionally made one, and these scenes could never have been done with the latter. In fact, there's no scene in which the armor worn by the actor is complete, there is always only a part of it that is completed by digital.

    I kinda miss the days when the MCU films were under Paramount and Universal. Til this day Iron Man 1 is the best looking out of the franchise. The CGI and color grading just mixed so well. Not to mention that they were still using classic film reel. Which the film grain made them look very realistic. Nowadays everything looks digital and the colors are extremely washed. This 1 of the biggest problems I had with movies like Civil War. The CGI looks off in certain segments like Tony Stark when he has his helmet pulled down. And Spider-Man's CG suit looked faded.

      It's not only because of the props, the film owes a great deal to digital technology, as do all those that followed. There are whole scenes where we only see the digital version of the armor and can't see the difference with the traditionally made one, and these scenes could never have been done with the latter. In fact, there's no scene in which the armor worn by the actor is complete, there is always only a part of it that is completed by digital.

    Iron Man 1 definitely had the best suits. Did not care for the nanotech version in later films.

    • @ShalmendoGlineux
      @ShalmendoGlineux Год назад +2

      While I agree that the pure CGI suits weren't quite as good visually, it was still REALLY fun to see how Stark kept upgrading and enhancing the suit. He could have stuck with Mark 1 or 2, but he kept improving it constantly and finding new ways to compensate for problems and issues he faced in the field. That was Stark's real genius, right there.

      @@ShalmendoGlineux I also liked that he kept upgrading, but I didn't like the magic "suit materializes instantly over body" approach. Save the magic for Doctor Strange.

    Gotta pay mad respects to Jon Favreau, having the weight of such a huge project on his shoulders. Had this movie failed, we would be talking about a different MCU or maybe no MCU at all. Marvel wasn't big back then, actually they were nothing at the time. This movie's success made it all possible and I think Jon had a bigger role than we actually give him credit for.
