My Titleist 620MBs arrive today! Got fitted at a local Club Champion about a month ago now. Hit 5 different cavity back irons, ended up hitting these blades the most consistently on the simulator. The numbers don't lie, and don't let people tell you "blades" are too difficult to hit if you're not a scratch golfer. My swing and sense of control are perfect for these clubs.
Just got mine today and even though my HC is mid-high but my fitter told me that these blades fit me better as I shoot straighter and more consistent with trackman numbers. Planned to buy the t350, ended up with these blades. Can’t wait to see how they will perform in the field.
Love these. If it wasn't for my recent Z Forged acquisition I would be having a very hard look at these for my bag. I know you guys have covered GI vs CB vs Blades in the past, but I'm having more and more trouble understanding why so few people are willing to have a serious go with blades. For my money, the greatest impact you can have on your score is through distance control. Nothing is better for that than a nice set of blades. I think the "forgiveness" aspect is vastly overblown in most golfers minds. A crap shot with a GI iron will be little (if any) better than a crap shot with a blade. However, a good shot with a blade will drop on the number I'm expecting, whereas with a hot faced GI iron it could vary by quite a lot. Would love to see an in-depth dive into the downsides of flexible iron faces when it comes to distance control and lowering your scores.
Higher handicapper here that just scored a bargain on a set of TItleist 712 MB's. My goal is to become a ball striking god and these clubs will help me achieve that. The feeling I get when I flush one eclipses any of the unforgiving aspects of their design. Pure bliss, as god intended. Also, what camera and lens do you use to film? Lovely set up whatever it is.
Your custom fit loft & lie for each club comment is unbelievably important. The best $100 I've ever spent on golf was at TXG in Toronto, running through the bag and loft and lie adjusting ever single club for how I hit it. Every golfer should absolutely do this when they get new clubs and then after lessons or doing significant work on their swings - it is so important.
Hey bro...was your lie and loft fitting done with Ian or one of the other guys and how long did it take...thinking of doing that myself as i'm close by . they are the best in the business
@@wallstreetoneil Paul, thanks for all the info that was great...will be getting a plan together and making a visit...thanks again bro much appreciated
I just love the look of a MB with no offset. I still prefer mp-18 and mp-20 (MB versions) looks compared to Titleist MB. But since Mizuno did remove their SC this year, their MMC/hbm just does not look right, I am tempted to give Titleist blended MB/CB set a go. Or I just mix MP-20 pw-7 with Titleist CB 6-4! Good luck finding a shop selling me this combo ...
Lovely looking club. I had a set of 690mb. Loved them. Would definitely play blades again as my bad shots are terrible and no amount of cavity or offset would save me.
I just got fitted for these clubs at my local shop and I absolutely love them! I'm currently a 8 Handicapper at the moment and I think these will bring me down even further and really fine tune my game for accuracy and consistency. Moving from Callaway X Hot 2's and I can't wait to chuck those in the garage and get these 620's in the bag and on the course. I played today with the Callaways and just was so inconsistent and just had zero confidence in the clubs after hitting the 620's on the simulator a few days ago. I still have some fine tuning to do with the Titelist as the shop only had the PW and the 7 iron so I didn't finalize my Lie angle yet on the 4,5 irons but I'm pretty dialed in with the 7-PW. I know I will most certainly loose some distance but I'm definitely ok with that with how well I was placing the ball.
One thing I don’t buy into is that blades are for better players only. I bought a set of Miura mc 501 blades earlier this year. I was off 17 at the time and now I’m off 12. I put a lot down to these blades for two reasons: 1) I love them and they make me happy, so it makes me want to play and practice. 2) I feel like I need to concentrate on a smooth swing and hitting it cleanly because it’s a blade. And that makes me focus and play better. Having said that, I don’t know what would happen if I now went back to a cavity having improved my swing and consistency etc. All I know is, I feel like playing blades improved my golf. Ps I have a blade from wedge down to 6 iron only.
i am going to the fitting centre to see whats right for me, but i love the idea of a true combo set T100 to CB to blade to give me all the things I love in a club... i'll let you know the result...topline looks the same- Love it
They're stunningly simple and without as much offset really appealing. I'm really considering these over the mizuno mp-20 and taylor made p7-mb, all beautys and hard to decide.
Looks like a great iron. That’s why I love playing a blade....I am not consistent but I know my MP18 irons are😇....this quote must sound familiar to you Mark 😜 Love the consistency and feedback I get from my MP18s❣️
It looks beautiful but out of my league when there are T100 and 200 to test and buy - really enjoyed the analysis as always and agree with Mark's final comments re lies for clubs it doesn't make sense for them all to be the same through the bag - something to ponder!
Can’t wait to get mine!! Defo look much better than previous model. Love the plain back (no mb stamp) and just look so inviting down at the ball. Although, that 4 iron is squat.
I still game the 712 MB and I just dont see what you can do with a blade to make it better other than looks. No offset is nice but isnt worth the price of a new set for me, although I do like new shiny things.
Thank you! I've always felt the same with blade offsets, doesn't make sense! I want blade right through the whole set, period! I used to play Cleveland TA3 irons for that reason. I remember buying them and the guy at the store was repulsed. He asked me why I would want blades and I remember telling him because I can fucking hit them!
So true. In fact, I've always argued that IF YOU WANT TO IMPROVE, you'll hit blades (or muscle-backs), NOT a forgiving, game-improvement iron. They just allow you to get away with being sloppy.
Interesting... been tempted by mb’s for a while now. I had an old set of Petron blades when I was a kid, not by choice, only set available to me at the time, but they had this very weird ‘V’ shape in the sole... but they went ok!! Glad Titleist have chosen to remove the offset with this model so might be worth a try...
when the 712 mb came out i bought mine online thinking they were normal blades like mizees they had so much offset that i kept missing left never dealt with Titleist irons ever since.
Ping is where it's at bruh. They have been advocating different lie angles (red, black, blue, whatever) in long iron, mid iron, short irons/wedges for years. Lie angle can be used to changed ball flight to the desired shape. If you want your long irons to fly differently to your short irons, you can change the lie angles to make it happen. Like I said, Ping have been doing this for ages. I play my wedges flatter than my irons, iblade irons in blue dot and glide forged in black dot. A good fitter should already know to do this.
It's a lot easier then you'd think. I could hit them very easily as a bogey golfer. I just had a bit too much unintentional workability to put it lightly lol.
Finally I understand why my 690’s have such god awful off-set! I got them from a friend and I’ve played them for years, just recently noticed the off-set. The real shame is that I’m a club fitter! : / I’m embarrassed to say, I just don’t pay that much attention to my own sticks! Cheers
Doesn't Srixon have variable soles on their irons/wedges since they've introduced the v sole? Had a set of z945's for a season and it seemed like the soles of the irons varied slightly between each iron throughout the set. It seemed to work well, just switched to a cavity for more help. If this is the case then how come more companies like Titleist, Callaway etc.. doing this?
If people love the look of them so much, which I do too, why not just play with them... I mean how many shots does one think you can save from playing chunky game improvement irons vs beautiful true blades? My guess would be a max of 1 shot per round for the average golfer thats not going to matter, and if you are a good player, its even less of a difference. Play the irons you love!
I'll try it Mark. If the sales mans not looking I'll probably take a selfie with it and then put it back on the rack. As for things going around and coming back again I totally agree, except for one thing. You and I ain't ever seeing a full head of hair again brah.

As a cyclist, people are happy to spend US$200+ for a bike fitting, and then be upsold on a new saddle, pedals, inner soles, etc... yet as you say Mark Crossfield, we’ve been conditioned into expecting a golf fit for free, so I find golf shops rush the process. As a 6’6” left hander finding a store who even stocks 1/4 of the range is hard to find... so you’re always left sub-optimal 😿

You can see why the pros love the muscle back irons as they get consistent distances from shot to shot versus a range of distances.
I hate offset. It’s one of the main reasons why I play a combo of 716 MB/CB. I’m really interested in taking a look at these with even less offset.
Those 716 CB are really good irons.
