- Mario Cipollini was one of the best cyclists in the history of cycling. However, his 2002 season was absolutely hilarious, with a hilarious performance at the World Cycling Championships in Zolder and winning Milan Sanremo 2002 with a legendary show on Via Roma. Want to know how he managed to be the best sprinter in the world in 2002? #Cycling, #Sports, #Doping

The abuser and drugaddict Lion King!
Like they all don't do it some are better at hiding it.
@@donalddonley8420 I'm not dumb enough to think Cavendish doesn't benefit from the same stuff
Doped or not doped -- there was nothing like seeing a shuffle near the front a few KM from the end of a stage.... and all of a sudden, there would be 9 Saeco riders at the front going 60+km/h. What a show!
yup ..Loved that era..The racing was 10 times better..
@@michaelsteven1090 Just like I told some newer person on another video a few weeks ago, things were different in the old school era. Just a little more pure and with toughness. Not this whiney BS we see today.
@@justanotherjackleg7073 100% 👍🏻
Definitely doped
Absolutely. It’s like the people who say they’re happy the steroid era in baseball is over. Completely absurd. That was the best time for the sport by far. I just started following cycling this year and although it’s been a great year, I would love to see what a juiced up Pogi would look like against VINGEGAARD on EPO.
Love this channel, it’s like a cycling library
the golden years of cycling
Proper...
Thanks for all the excellent moments brought back to life.
I want more ! 👊
Just wanted to thank you for these very entertaining videos. If you covered other topics that would be awesome too. Your storytelling and voice is perfect for these.
This video is a good example of the duality of cycling fans (me inclusive): enjoying the spectacle despite the doubts.
There's no doubts.
bring back thegood old days!!
I remember him not signing my T-shirt in 2002 Giro start in Bled (slovenia). And that was when I lost all respect for him :P Oh yeah and when he was charged with domestic violence.
Perfect vid, Salice Terme!
Little known fact, Viagra was created by synthesizing Chipo's blood after processing epo
I thought it was VDB
Cippo and Rocco are the same person.
Miss those days, and the old coverage
Cipollni was ni mug on a bike, very naturally gifted.. the 90's were terrible for prep, no excuses but he was just doing what everyone else was doing.
Personalities like him don't come along every day, the nearest most of the newer people would know would be Sagan, who was a terror on and off the bike
Yes, he beat his wife, and others... he admitted to anger management problems, he dodged a two year jail sentence and has turned his life around.
I give him that, he's 52 or so, and has built a successful bike company and turned his profile way down, and geez, he's still so fit...
Probably steroids body at 52
What a guy.
He is 55.
Thanks, I wasn’t sure..!
@@cyclinghighlightsmaybe they also used cola,.which was forbidden in those days...caffeine. maybe a goldfish
That Pamela Anderson stem.
Cipo made me buy a flame red Cannondale CAAD4😊
Oh, this channel is going back to their origins... good news
Your research must have taken some time . Nice review of Mario .
How do his signature frames sell?
Without doping we wouldn't know their names LOL
With or without doping, with or without rigged races, Cipollini was still a heck of a cyclist
Legend!
That's the problem though. If you are truly gifted you don't need to dope or fix races. But most do it so he had to as well. I think it's the unhealthy secrecy and culture that is within cycling the encourages this behaviour.
@@mgcarmkm4520 Sean Kelly is like one of the top 20 cyclists of all time and even he talked about race fixing and admitted he benefited from it
Freddy maertens no 1
Amazing to see how much people doped back then. Seemingly rare these days but I do wonder
theyre still doped to the gills
you cant be serious
What the hell is a football icon doing in a cycling video?😮
Ronaldo is a close friend of Mario
@@cyclinghighlights Oh, okay. I was just guarding my cycling space, LOL. Where I live, local TV sports news consist of 95% football and 5% other sports, and it pisses me off.
👍
Ronaldo played for Inter Milan in 2002 & he would've hung out with Cipo on the 'nite scene'
Probably doping.
Fanny magnet
How good was he? He is the greatest sprinter in cycling history.
Doubt it. Most popular and funniest but not the best
@@cyclinghighlights The most majestic sprinter ever, the only one capable to win sprint arrives by distance.
Would call the 00s the dirtiest years...
@@dougnardecchia7701 and more boring..there are only a few riders capable of riding off the front and even fewer capable of bridging up..The rest of the peloton are so evenly matched they have to wait for radio instructions on what to do next..ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz
@@dougnardecchia7701there are no really faster tours....although there is a much better inventory. the competition is a bigger mess....there's nothing to pull on at the finish line...there's not really anything to pull on in the mountains either.
Yes sure, but you actually believe the other guys in the top 10 (or 50 for that matter) didn’t dope as well, right? They all do. You only hear of the top ones as those are the ones worth going after
i think he spreads the blame pretty evenly throughout the sport, watch all videos
Better doping plans buy wins. Did you actually watch the vid?
@@JB-uv4hm I wasn't questioning whether he doped (he did) or that he did it "better than others," just that they all do. I doubt that any champion in any sport where the body matters more than the technique doesn't dope. So either we condemn them all or none. I'd say all, and move to another sport.
You're not saying anything new. Everyone knows doping was and is widespread in cycling.
Preaching to the choir.
Fuentes sure. And Ferrari 99% i think before police catched him.
Don't EVER, I mean EVER buy a crapper Cippolini bike.
good bikes....I've been riding them for 3 years and they're great....Sturdy, light, beautiful
The cringiest man in the sport to this day, his bike retail site is pure ego BUT he's really turned his life around and in recovery, that's his best achievement.
Le gars en fourré des vag! Des tonne de vag remplie par Mario
uhhh, "he attempted his assault..followed by muted "sounds" in kind....uh...oh boy.
1200 watts.. I can hold that for Around 9 seconds.
He must have been doing much more.
he was probably holding 1200 watts average for 30-35 seconds with peak power around 1400-1500 mark
@@michadebicki6534 That's nothing. I can hold 200 watts for a good five mins when upon my Brompton. Beat that!
Yes but that’s 1200 watts at the end of hundreds of km stage race, not 1200 after a 20 minute warmup on zwift lol
Dopped , dont be judgemental. Wearing glasses is eye dropping by a purest . Nobody is on bread and water . The lion king's train with Giovanni Lombardi making a hole for the champ
