    Muscles can help keeping your nostrils open but that's only if you consciously use them. But to prevent nostril collapse, usually rim grafts are used.

    Nasal Valve collapse is usually a result of too much cartilage removed from an aggressive rhinoplasty. No exercise can restore the nasal valve back into it's original position. It can only be restored by having cartilage pieces added to the site which is lacking cartilage. In some cases outfracturing of the nasal bones may be necessary. That's called revision rhinoplasty. There are some alternative medical procedures which are temporary as well. You chiropractors should stick to what you know, manipulating the spine & stop delving into area's you have no expertise in.

      Thank you for your comment.
      So how do you explain the fact that the function of my nasal passage changed from the administration of Novocain? Did the Novocain alter my cartilage structure or did it alter a nerve impulse?
      I would agree that aggressive rhinoplasty would destroy the tissue beyond the point where it can be improved by functional treatment. But the point of the video was to illustrate a case where there was a signal problem causing it. I made the video to show what has been true in my experience. That most people who complain that they can't breathe through a nostril, and for which a surgeon suggest reconstructive surgery, actually have a problem of poor nervous system signal function. In the medical world many things are looked upon as a structural problem when very often they are in fact a functional problem. This is of course is only based on my experience since in the vast majority of cases we are able to improve function by improving signals.
      Maybe it's you who don't have any expertise in what chiropractic actually is. I would encourage you to watch several more of my videos so that you could get a more accurate picture of chiropractic as a receptor based neurological mechanism, rather than merely a "manipulation of the spine.
      I appreciate your input.

    Is this the same as swollen turbinates ? I tried everything and the doctor thinks I need surgery. I really don't want that

    I was having some issues like acid-reflux and regurgitation and my chiro thought it might have something to do with Vagus nerve and he adjusted my neck. The first sitting was alright. After the second session, something strange happened, I started having feelings like something is crawling on my face. Not just that, one side of my nose has started collapsing like you've just demonstrated. Though I have had a deviated septum since childhood but nostril never collapsed. But after the adjustment, it started collapsing. And not just that, I am feeling a strange pressure at the bridge of my nose when I exhale. When I told this to my chiro, he said, the crawling feeling on the face and nasal collapse has nothing at all to do with neck adjustment. But looking at your video, I feel that there is a connection. Please guide if possible.

      Hi Nishant Arora. This is great insight on your part. It is impossible for me to say whether that was the case, but the chiropractic adjustment is very powerful. Chiropractors need to be a little careful. Because this is such a good comment I am going to make a video on it, and hopefully get it out this week.

    can it get better over time a nasal valve collapsed or will it never fix without surgery

    • @drekberg

      Depends on what caused it. I think almost anything can get better. we use Nutrition Response Testing and Neurologically based chiropractic to find root causes and get thing s going again.

      @@drekberg Brain issue? You gotta be kidding...nasal valve collapse is structural abnormality than can be addressed by strengthening and building endurance into the nasals muscle group or by repair with a cartilage graft.

      What is going on with your nasal valve?

      Dr. Sten Ekberg well I got Bell’s palsy in 2016 April and it went away in two months. However I noticed I looked different from the nose. It was a slight change but only I noticed it. Anyways I also noticed I couldn’t breathe as well as the other nostril after I got Bell’s palsy. So after two years getting used to the stuffy breathing through one side of my nostril I saw an ENT Monday and he said my valve was collapsed. However I don’t want to get surgery. But in your video you mentioned the brain controls the muscle. Do you think I can reverse the valve collapse?

    • @drekberg
      @drekberg  6 лет назад +1

      Yes I think it would be possible. Bell's palsy is caused by some failure to cranial nerve 7. Therefore the problem is a nerve problem. Exercise might help, but it is likely you would also need some more specific nerve simulation such as chiropractic, applied kinesiology, reflex points, etc. Also there is no guarantee, but it is certainly worth the try.

    • @desireeatr4196
      @desireeatr4196 6 лет назад

      I certainly believe our brain is very powerful, and so is muscle memory. I’m a strong believer that this can be reversed without surgery. Thank you!

    • @drekberg
      @drekberg  6 лет назад +3

      Thank you for asking. There is no cook book solution. It depends on the mechanism in each case. All chiropractic helps the brain work better, but I would recommend finding a chiropractor that uses applied kinesiology.
