i feel very lucky to live in a place where the cops dont get too up tight about those sorts of things. we all have riden tucked, if not just no plated bikes for a long time with no issues. you might be pulled over, and if you have the registration, insurance, proper license, are riding in protective gear etc. they let it slide 99 percent of the time. if you are riding dirty, then just dont put a plate at all, its a no chase state lol.
@@John_Ridley its Not as tucked as you think, when looking head on at the back of the bike the plate is clearly visible, just insalled mine two days ago.
TST Industries' tail tidy crushes the NRC one, both in quality and price. TST's *integrated* taillight (due out any day) looks about 10x better than this one, and costs less!! No brainer...
I just received an email from TST about the LED integrated Tail Light. "Hi there! We do not have an ETA at this time but we hope to release this within the next two months pending on delays."
Integrated tail lights are some of the worst things ever for sport bikes. Stock lights are hard enough to see already on bikes, but let's make it even harder to see.
BUT you have to buy both the integrated taillight and the Fender Eliminator kit -- and then the License Plate Light and then TST 2 Pin LED Flasher Relay Gen 2 so it cost more than this unit. But don't get me wrong. I don't want the NRC either...
Might look better, but then you get small sand pebbles and other dirt up on the seat and on the back of your jacket. Especially if you're caught in some rain.
I ........(Please don't kill me ) Actually liked the OG a bit more ... I think the lights are a bit more visible that way so is the plate ... But this mod doesn't look bad is just that I like the factory one more
If you look at the older bikes from the 80s, they had full tail sections that look proportionate to the bike, modern bikes got rid of the tail section to save weight, put plastic has very little weight, modern sports bikes till sections look like they're missing something.
My one aesthetic knock against the 8R is the ridiculously small storage compartment. It’s stubby and not long enough. Also wish the bike made more HP. Other than that I think it’s one of the best midrange bikes. I think Suzuki is going to sell a ton of them. I may buy one just to have for getting around.
I disagree. I like the length added by the tail fender. Long >> Short. It makes the bike look more impressive. I'm not going to bother with a tail tidy.
Yam, I wholeheartedly agree that the tail sections on new bikes are hideous, and scream to be ripped off. I did a tail tidy on my new Z H2 within a couple of weeks tops. However, not trying to be a smart ass here, but the tucked license plate is a just plain bad idea. I've been a cop, pretty close to you, for 38 years. The fender eliminators that tuck the license plate up like the one you installed are illegal, at least in Texas (and probably most states) because the tag isn't readable from the proper distance. Shoot, many I've seen weren't readable unless you lay down on the ground to look up at it. In quite a few cases we can't even see the tag at all, I promise that's going to get you pulled over. Lots of guys use that style so they can run and we can't get their tag, but if the reason you're being pulled over because we can't see your tag you just turned a warning into a felony and your bike is probably gonna get seized. Also, we all know how easy it is to get your bike stolen, most of us have either had a bike stolen or know someone who's had a bike stolen. If a cop can't see the tag on your stolen bike he doesn't know it's stolen, and may just keep going to the call he's on for the little old lady who's watching space aliens jump up & down on the roof of her car again (I'm not kidding, I had a woman who used to call that in at least once a week) instead of trying to get your bike back for you. Get a design that allows your tag to be legally visible, that way when you do get pulled over for possibly fudging the speed limit a bit you stand a better chance of getting a warning. Also, don't ride like a total squid (not talking about you specifically, just readers in general). People seem to have an undue dislike for motorcyclists, and some cops seem to have it a bit worse. Riding like an idiot makes us all look bad, and decreases everyone's chances of getting a warning instead of a ticket. Also, if you've never seen the aftermath of someone hitting a car at 160 when the car pulled out in front of them, I promise it's not something you ever want to see. I worked a crash tonight on a state highway, a car doing 65 hit a hog, we know how many of those are around here. My first thought looking at the totaled car was "thank God that wasn't a bike".
Hiding the plate alone is going to paint a target on your back. It tells everyone what kind of rider you probably are. I can’t stand that riders do that. I like some fender eliminators, but I prefer the ones that allow the plate to mount normally, almost 90 degrees from the ground, and have a white LED. I found a nice one for my bike.
I’ve been looking at a new gsx-8s. I love the look and colors they have for em. Plus I’m more into naked bikes honestly, they just look better in my opinion
Modern bikes are too forward heavy looking, they look like they've braked so hard, that everything got shunted to the front of the bike. I'm keeping the tail piece on my ninja, it just balances the front/rear ratios up.
That mod would never fly in Europe. Mandated inspections would require that process to be done twice every time you'd take the bike.for the inspection. Not worth the hassle.
This bike desperately needs a fender eliminator, but this one is not it. Put the tail light up behind the seat. Drop the plate down from that point also so it is perpendicular to the ground, legal, and doesn't hit your tire. The cops in MN would have a field day with this thing.
It is better with the fender and stock exhaust. Ride on a muddy road with the tail tidy, and the plate will be covered. The turn signals aren't spread wide enough. Waste of money.
couldnt be a more fitting video at the moment for me, was just about to look for a fender eliminator kit for my 8r. you got a link for this particular one by chance/. thanks yammie. To pull the fender off at the end, just push straight down on the fender. it will pop off and not break the tabs in my experience.
@Yammienoob and other bike riders out there, i have a question. I think here in the Netherlands its not as easy to get your motorcycle license as it is in for example America. Here in the Netherlands you have to take about 15 - 20 lessons (this is on the street and highway as well), you need to take an exam in special manouveres and take a final exam showing that you can really ride a bike and find your way through trafic. You also need to take a theorie exam showing you know the trafic rules. Also you can take the above exams for a A class bike. That is 35 kw and above. Seeing you have to get all the above and the amount of lessons you have to take, can i start on a bit of a more heavy bike like a GSX8R ( I know not really heavy in the eyes of most people). @Yammienoob, would love to get your opinion on this! All the help is welcome! Thank you and drive save!
To be honest, I don’t really understand everybody’s desire to make the rear end of their motorcycle look like a wasps butt. I like most of the “mud extensions” way better than the tail tidies. Just a matter of taste, I suppose.🤷♂️
@@Tactica1_Tanker I agree. I have a cbr650r - pretty great “all around” street bike - it has what I refer to as a “dragon tail” look to it. For me it looks way better out over the back tire like that than the “stubby” back of the bike. (I will admit it’s a little better looking design than the gsx 8R) Again, I know it’s just a matter of personal preference 🤷♂️.
I’ve heard you say this isn’t a good beginner bike, but what about a riders first sport styled bike, familiar with motorcycle controls , but coming off of dirt biking since I was around 12 years old, 28 now looking to get my first true street bike buy. I’ve ridden a few over the years here and there not on any commutes or trips but around the neighborhoods or down the street since a lot of my friends had bikes, so I’m not totally brand new but just gonna be new to daily riding and prefer this bike for its mid weight power with a more relaxed ergo than other super sport styled bikes
This new light module, and plate holder do not pass MOT at any European country. Sideturns are too close together. Numberplate holder after you flip in normal angle, it will hit your tyre...

Do NOT approve of aftermarket signals that are stupid close together. They aren't legal either. There's supposed to be a minimum spacing between left and right signals and none of the so-called "integrated" stuff on the aftermarket is legal DOT. Some of it is downright dangerous and you couldn't tell if it was even lit from a distance, much less what direction you wish to turn.
