To me, it's the feeling of hope and strength facing something dreadful with odds against me. The first verse is facing inevitability, the chorus is managing to overcome it, but the last part reminds you that this struggle will be an endless cycle.

Was coming down after a few days, lying in the middle of the trees drifting in and out of conciousness, and then my friend put this on. Cannot describe the experience....closer to God :)

I'd venture to say that part of the appeal of the song is in the unheard lyrics. It makes it much more mysterious, sucks you in.
