Hey, not sure if you ever continued on your Post-Rock journey (or as you put it, 'Atmospheric Rock") .. If you haven't, you should definitely check out these 4 other bands ASAP.. 1. Godspeed You Black Emperor, 2. Sigur Ros, 3. The Album Leaf, 4. Explosions In The Sky. EITS is going to be the closest thing to Mogwai's sound, but the other 3 bands are cornerstones of the genre as well, you really can't go wrong with any of them. I will admit though, I'll always be partial towards EITS because my old band opened for them at South By Southwest back in 2008 at a venue in Austin, TX called Emo's. After soundcheck we went to grab a bite to eat, when we came back about 20 min later we realized that someone had snuck into the green room behind the stage and stolen our bass player's guitar. We were so devastated. Then, without any hesitation, their bass player (his name is Mike) insisted that we go ahead and play our set using his rig. I can't even put into words how much it meant to us. He knew we drove all the way out to Austin, TX from Murfreesboro, TN just for the opportunity to open for them and play a quick 25 min set, and he was willing to let a complete stranger (for all intents and purposes) use his very expensive bass rig. I was a huge fan of EITS before meeting them, but as you can imagine this pretty much sealed the deal for me, lmao.. seriously though, check them out. You'll love them.
