I have come to realize that I really want to become a musician mostly so that I can go to Amoeba and hope to 'star' in Whats in my bag. Thats how much I love this series.
You could always just start a youtube series of yourself, and show off your hauls from the record store. Do it in reverse!
Dude, I think the same! That would be awesome!
Confession: Sometimes when I browse record stores, I pretend I’m picking things out for a “What’s in my Bag” and consider what I’d say about them.
What a lovely guy
This is the best series on youtube
Agreed.
Guests (like him) with unique music taste and refreshing sense of humor = my favorite WIMBs
MASSIVE fucking respect for showing a Third Eye Foundation record on this show. Massively underrated artist. Kudos Stuart
I interviewed Stuart many years ago when Mogwai were on their first US tour - I believe it was outside the old Lounge Axe. He was a very young guy then, and it seems that he still has all the youthful enthusiasm I remember seeing in him then. That's a nice trick to pull off!
Mogwai would definitly be in my bag. I agree about the Sonic Youth album. Underrated gem.
No wonder Mogwai's so fantastic; he has impeccable tastes in music.
Mogwai is my life soundtrack!🙌🎸
I think that if you had Madlib as a guest his video would be 6 hours long.
It would only feature him looking at every single record in the shop and saying "I already have that" every time.
i laughed so loud...
I still remember seeing Mogwai live for the first time back in 2001. After the show, they were all nice enough to sign my vinyl copy of Rock Action. Great guys!
Such a great series, long may it run, and Stuart one of the best ever guests - wonderfully open selections.
That Alan Lomax collection looks awesome
I bumped into Stuart a few years ago in a Tesco supermarket in Edinburgh. I noticed he had about 10 boxes of triple choc muffins in his basket so I couldnt resist edging up close to him and saying 'Like yer muffins do ya mate'? He looked at me with a smiling face and said 'Mind yer own business yer twat'. I then edged away.
😂😂😂
Hahaha me and my girlfriend are travelling down from Aberdeen to Edinburgh to see them next week, maybe ill take a box of muffins.... 😁
Yeah, that's Tesco Triple Choc 4-pack. £1.20 per pack at the moment. You could always bring over a box to my place for a cup of tea b4 the gig. I'm central.
Then again, maybe not. I've just seen your liked videos list.
Ron Jitter gotta be more specific bud-is it because im a leftist? Or because....honestly ive no idea what your problem is but not to worry, like I said im going to see them with my partner so..... Yeah, 3's a crowed etc etc
Edit-yup i reckon me and my GF definitely pass on the offer, i got bored of whitesnake at 10
Third Eye Foundation ♥
Stuart used that Cure T-shirt when Mogwai was playing live at KEXP. Nice!
I love this man. Met him, he's. total gent . A fucking genius
Lovely Scottish charm. And what a band !
Good timing as I've been binging on Mogwai lately!
Cool love this series
Watched a lot of these, this is my favourite
Wow what to say, the choices made are absolute masterpieces of their kind. This channel is one of the absolute best sincere compliments. Good evening everyone a hug from Italy
After watching this episode when it came out, I actually bought the Going Underground book for my Kindle and couldn't put it down. Such an excellent read. Thanks for the recommendation, Stuart!
Well said! NYC and flowers is so underrated. Amazing album, one of their best for me
MOGWAI FOR FUCKING LIFE!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Loved this episode what a genuine and cool guy
major ups for showcasing third eye foundation - his new album is being oooooh so slept-on. almost all the TEF stuff is mint and all the stuff under his birth name is simply the best! YESSSsss!
Been waiting for this one. Nice work Amoeba! One of my favorite albums of all time is Mogwai's EP+3..Now, you have to get Oxbow on here!
I love him!!❤ Stuart is so lovely😍 Mogwai forever❤🙌
Mogwai, super cool!
This is one of the best what's in my bags I've seen
Was so excited when I saw him checking Third Eye Foundation during the opening montage. Mogwai still ranks #1 loudest concert I've been to.
I love this man
Love Mogwai! Great picks, man! ✌🏼
Awesome
So glad to finally see a Matt Elliot recommendation. The guy is a monster talent and just does not get the recognition he deserves. He did a remix for Mogwai once, a noisey renditon of A Cheery Cave...great stuff
Cheery Wave of course
anyone else feels that Rock Action is immensely underrated? 2 Rights Make 1 Wrong is their best song imo
Take Me Somewhere Nice and You Don't Jesus are also good songs off of that
The route dude rock performance of that track is my favorite live song ever
Absolutely agree
all their records are underrated except for Young Team, which I think is kinda overrated.
Love his music with mogwai
Absolutely brill picks
Great picks
Jerry Goldsmith GOAT. And it is a didgeridoo, conk shell, and a 15th century horn is the sound of the Alien.
Super charming.
Cool guy and choices!
so nice to see sleater-kinney and nin in his selection
goddamn Stu is such a sweetheart. very chill and funny and passionate. would have loved to have the other gents in the band featured here as well!
holy shit the Mogs have made it to My Bag
Awesome! Love Mogwai, surprising to see a lot of gospel and stuff, but definitely inspiring to get out of my musical comfort zone.
This is channel has all the correct artists on it.
Bring Jonny Greenwood here..
Or the whole of Radiohead.
YES!! it'd be so interesting
Pleeeeeeaaaaase, that would be amazing
He’d just pick obscure Indian music
I could totally see Jonny just grabbing an album of a man banging two rocks together.
Me: What's with all the laughing ?
Stuart: I'm really hungover.
Best timing ever
The Staple Singers- Excellent!
I've recently become very fond of Neurosis (and saw them live for the first time). Very often, especially live, they remind me Mogwai
Mogwai is so good
Inrteresting to know that Stuart is a fan of roots and country blues !
Long live Mogwai 🤙
I like him!! He is so interesting and unique.
And funny, humble. They do give you to much food here. There's an inner battle..eat your food. Clean plate club.
St'chewart, is a fucking absolute superhero and I dig the whole band. I appreciate the fuckin notes he plays and the ones in-between, maybe even more.
Please, if you haven't..go see Gwai live...at any/every chance you possibly can....do.
I swear on my fuckin name, It will blow the very tiddies off your soul.
That was ace.
Stuart: the best
Nice guy.
Nice hat Stu!
Anyone who enjoyed Stuart Braithwaite in this, buy his book, Spaceships Over Gkadgow, it is ny favourite book about musuc ever.

Oh shit!
YEAAAHHHH reppin RENO punk scene !!!
I would love to see Ed Wynne from Ozric Tentacles on here. Or the whole crew. I love that band.
My favourite Mogwai track is Tracey. Or No Medicine for Regret.
i am a big wet slut for "travel is dangerous"
I love 2 rights make 1 wrong.
makes me wanna explore the gospel genre, I like his taste on this. Cool video
well, what a sweetheart
Fun fact: Sleater Kinney album art is done by Agi from The Pastels (another Scottish band)
Woooow! He is wearing a "大丸堂" T-shirt!!!
Atomicのジャパンツアーの時に買ったのかな。
Nice fella!
Matt Elliott IS fantaaaaaaaastic
Seeing them next week in Edinburgh-csnt wait!!!! Im 35 and been listening to them since I was 16-18 and never got the chance even though im from Aberdeen/Scotland but my wonderful girlfriend got us a ticket for 22
nd August in Edinburgh-i cant wait! Im like a kid at Xmas haha
Like a kid at Xmas Steps maybe?
Was there on the 22nd at Leith theatre. Was living in Leith at the time and it was also my birthday. Great memories
@@davidcowan4942 it was a brilliant gig wasn't it-now I'm looking forward to when I can get a chance to see them again haha
@@teethgrinder83 Sure was. In the old days they Always used to finish with the sublime my father my king and was so happy they did again that night.
@@davidcowan4942 I know, that made me happy too-i was also really happy they played "new paths to helicon PT 1", I love that song so much. I was looking at the set list for the following day and we were lucky because they didn't play "my father" on the 23rd so we went on the right night lol although they played "Mogwai fear Satan" on the 23rd which id have loved to have seen
And he wore the t-shirt during their latest KEXP session...
Would kill to see billy corgan, placebo, or she wants revenge on here!
Jello Biafra or Fenriz would be very interesting!
Weren't the Voices of Freedom the choir that sang U2's (and with U2) I Still Haven't Found What I'm looking for?
Why am I only finding out about this now?
music in background? at intro?
He should have bought Klimt 1918 - Sentimentale Jugend album
GOD I LOVE MOGWAI. OH DAMN ZODIAC IS AN AMAZING MOVIE ALSO STUART IS A NIN FAN? NICE.
That One Guy Mogwai and Trent Reznor worked on the 'Before the Flood' soundtrack together
Alan Lomax???!! Thanks you from Italy ! Search recording " treasure of Italy" .....beautiful!
Fuck yes.
What a nice bloke.
Interesting without being pretentious. Thank god.
his on the hat is cool design.
what's brand name?
fuck yea
What did he said about de Alien´s cover album?
I’m just worried he’s going to knock the stack off the arm of the couch.
might cop that 3rd year foundation, knew this guy knows his shit
How is Stuart getting younger?
Sonic youth, nine hinch nails, the cure t-shirt
Oh god he mentioned Skip James! Amoeba you should get Terry Zwigoff to do this. Or Whit Stillman. Both brilliant directors with good taste in music.
NIN The Fragile 👌👍👍
Stu is alright!
I love his Scottish humour.
