Every time the "ugly man" is harassed, tormented, taunted, bullied, or made fun of, it takes away a piece of his innocence. Every insult is another farewell to another part of his purity. That's what I feel the animals symbolize, and that's what I get out of this video.
The animation was done by Plates Animation who also did the music video for Arcade Fire's Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) & the video for The Shin's So Says I. I tried to do some research on this animation studio and sadly didn't found a thing about the studio.
