This band is absolutely awesome! I've been a huge Focus fan since I was a kid! This group is on par with Jethro Tull in the medieval rock niche, I kid you not, I swear! They are simply in a league of their own and what a league! Fantastic music! The tempo in which Thijs van Leer plays here is a bit lower than a subsequent performance in '75 in Denmark, but absolutely great, of course, as always! Just as better as on the studio recording! Signed a tremendous Focus fan from Suceava, Romania. P.S.: Jan Akkerman performed live in 2015 at Bucovina Rock Castle! Wish I'd been there to see him life! Amazing guitarist with amazing technique and mentality indeed! All the best and rock on! Many blessings as well!
#R.I.PLEOPOLDOREY!
Bands fake playing to an original studio recording was commonplace on many music-oriented TV programs including the UK and US. Looks like the same in Luxembourg. Neither Pierre van der Linden nor Bert Ruiter had anything to do with the original recording, it was Hans Cleuver and Martin Dresden. Given Bert appears here, it must have been late 1971 after Cyril Haversman left.
Yes, and some of the worst miming I've ever seen! lol Especially Jan playing a wrong guitar and Pierre totally not miming the drum parts correctly! 🤦♂😆They did what they could I guess for those earlier days of low tech TV?! 🤷♂
When great musicians are told to mime. It's the only time JA played the same solo.
I love it
Geniale Künstler. Brillante Melodien. In Deutschland leider nicht so bekannt gewesen.
so incredibly nice to see this video -- even though it's not really live!!! i love FOCUS!
From the astonishing 1st album. Great!
was it in 45rpm only or inside the 33 ?

ok. they are in league of his own. you're right. i think that here they are in playback
I was lucky enough to see them live in Camden a few months ago, 100% Brilliant
Nobody is lucky if they are in Camden.🤣
@@iancrombie8862 😄

J.Akkerman far ahead of his time. Awesome!
He’s pretty damn good
So very well put indeed! All the best and much respect!
I've never seen this before! New Focus stuff!! Brilliant!!
Incredibile
Dopo 50...anni..
This is also the theme song of the British TV comedy show Saxondale. I did my homework very well. 🙂
Nice one,
Fantastic! And then and now...with amazing Ian Ackerman and his flute ❤
Ian Akkerman lol, Jan Akkerman was guitarist for focus, Thijs Van Leer was the guy playing flute and keyboards.
@@Eleventhearlofmars I think the joke was ..It's Thijs Van Anderson of Jethro Tull !
@@Baz-Ten get Benny Anderson on keyboards as well eh?! 😂
aw man, more playback. I wish the old television shows allowed them to play for real :/
It is miming to the record and it is at least 1972 as it is Bert Ruiter on Bass.
Bert Ruiter joined Focus late 1971, this is 1971. By 1972, Bert had his beard. R.I.P Bert Ruiter
Playback but an iconic song nevertheless. 🤩
Jan 'Alien' Akkerman, explendid guitar player!
Peter Koelewijn present The Focus
I like this better when it is played slower, as Thijs is playing now.
LIVE at Radio Luxembourg. Someone tell them what live means.
Nicely mimed!
Definitely Jan, wouldn't show his face that day as he had a massive pimple on his nose!
At one point, Pierre glances back at Bert and they exchange smiles as if to say "This fake playing is such buLL$h!t."
I’m looking at the electric guitar and saying “how you going to make that acoustic sound with that thing?”
@@Football__Junkie Aaah, finally someone noticed this was a playback👌😉
Yes, at 1:37

Tommy Saxondale leaves Mags and his pea soup behind for the Band and the Road, and the Great Days that may be again.
its not really live i think. theres no cables in the guitar
Live?
Witte A100
1971? bert ?
juan jose ruiz tagle osses Yes, Bert Ruiter took the place after Cyril Havermans in September of 1971.
Who is the guitarist here?
Jan Akkerman
The most accomplished amazing diverse Jan Akkerman.
Sounds like Jethro Tull Ian Anderson or I'm seafood
None of the instruments are connected to anything?
Isn't this mimed? It doesn't even look like Ackerman.
It's Ackerman, cleverly playing two guitars simultaneously..
Yes, and some of the worst miming I've ever seen! lol Especially Jan playing a wrong guitar and Pierre totally not miming the drum parts correctly! 🤦♂😆They did what they could I guess for those earlier days of low tech TV?! 🤷♂
Great but not live
awful playback 🤣 jan never played 2 times the same notes 😉 record version
Que hermoso tema...
Live?
Nope
