Shelly in the 94 original was a Snow White type of character. A person so beautiful not only on the outside but also within. She cared for everyone and put others before herself: her fellow tenants being wrongfully evicted so she started a petition, a child growing up in a loveless home with a mother lost in her drug addiction so Shelly welcomes the child, Sarah, into her life and becomes the mother Sarah needed. Shelly, just like Snow White, was so innocent and pure, she didn't see the danger she was in until it was too late. Eric, who loved Shelly deeply because of her kindness and magentic personality coming back to avenge her brutal and desecrating death and carrying out Shelly's dying wish for Sarah ("tell Eric to look after Sarah") by saving her and scaring the shit out of her mother, Darla, makes perfect friggin sense! It works so well and his reward? Redemption (he couldn't save Shelly which added to his soul's unrest but he was able to save Sarah) and an eternity with Shelly.
There is nothing redeeming about the Shelly in this "reimagining". She does absolutely nothing for anyone but herself. What makes it worse? She knowingly drags down the most damaged and vulnerable person she could find, Eric. Why Eric wants to avenge her death and save her? Eric doesn't even fucking know. This Shelly is not worth saving. She knows bad people are after her and decides to run but hey, here is Eric. Ok let's throw caution to the wind and go back to an area that makes it EASY for them to find us and we'll die together. Why save someone who didn't even care enough to save her fucking self? What Lionsgate and Rupert Sanders did to Shelly and Eric is so grotesque that there is nothing that makes this an actual Crow story other than the title. They literally made a Crow movie idolizing Funboy and Darla's toxic ass relationship. NO!

I'm not saying that my generation or the older ones above me were more level-headed or had better relationships aparts from it. But I kind of get this sense that for selenials and younger. That's what a lot of relationships are like. Where thanks to the hyper chamber, that is the how much fast moving conflicting shit going on right now. They have no idea or why they're even dating or liking or doing the things that they're doing. Again, I'm not saying that my generation which is Millennials are better. We are part of the problem and we suffered for it in the same way that our parents Boomers fucked everything over and now we're suffering for it. So what I hate about it is that their relationship is probably really accurate unfortunately to a lot of couples right now.

They should have instead made a movie about "The Darkness".
Especially since other adaptions of graphic novels with Garth Ennis' involvement have proofed successful recently, like Preacher or The Boys.
Jackie Estacado's story is not that different from Eric Draven but it fits this more "John Wick like" killing spree so much better than Eric's story, which was a highly personal revenge journey and more about love prevails instead of revenge.
Also, Jackie's supernatural Darkness powers need modern CGI, unlike The Crow.

Major is not a japanese woman.
Its a robot with a japanese brain.
The creator even stated the he didnt design the character to look japanese.
He designed her to look mixed in an attempt to appeal to both asian and western audiences.
Canonically, shes designed mixed as it makes blending in while on international missions easier.
There was nothing inappropriate with Scarlett playing major.
That movie fell on other merit.

OH, that's who Rupert Sanders is! Kristen Stewart's casting-couch mistake.
So many things about this movie make more sense now.
fka Twigs also used to date Robert Pattinson, so ... that's interesting!
I'm absolutely not saying anything happened between Sanders and Twigs, and am also not saying "maybe Rupert Sanders likes Robert Pattinson, but the closest he can get is 'Robert Pattinson's ex/girlfriends"!
But if Twigs ever wanted to post a blind item saying that about him, or something, I wouldn't have trouble believing her.
ETA: I'd be interested in the "director's cut" of this movie with all the missing chunks put back in.
It would still be terrible, but ... more to laugh at!

I love the original version of the crow starring the late Brandon Lee. His portrayal of Eric Draven made me believe in the character and in the crow. It has a wicked soundtrack and believable bad guys. This latest version of the crow should never have been made and i know there have been other crow films but they had different characters killed not the character of Eric being killed over and over. This latest one the characters are Eric and Shelley same names as the original. Brandon Lee IS Eric Draven he died making the original movie. He put everything into his performance of Eric Draven and the crow. It was his ticket to global stardom and like his father he never got to see the rewards. He was only 28 years old and was all set to marry after the film wrapped in the same way as Eric was supposed to marry Shelly. Maybe if they had different character names i might have seen it. I’m boycotting it because of my love for Brandon Lee and the original movie of the crow. Another version of the crow that’s high on my list is the short lived tv show The Crow - Stairway To Heaven starring Mark Dacascos as Eric Draven this tv show is the closest thing to perfect as Brandon’s version of the crow. Take care 😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 R.I.P. Brandon Bruce Lee Never Forgotten ❤️💔😭🤧

20:40 Interesting ideas, "The Crow" as an anime might be cool, I can imagine it being more true to the graphic novel in that way... 🤔 Brandon once said it would be interesting to see the movie sh.ot in black and white, with just the flashback scenes in red. There are interesting things that can be done but taking the very essence - the heart - out of it, wrecked what the soul purpose (no pun intended) of the story should have been about 😕

The sequil that came after the 1st crow looked good cause the crow guy had the long hair. The long hair is one of the keys to make a good eric draven. The long haor makes the makeup look scary. I'm actually shocked and gobsmacked about how many critics and people are hating on this movie, but I guess at the same time, I was expecting it anyway. I actually think that the 1994 movie is bad and the new one is a good movie and actually way better than the original and i will explain my reasons later. Now, this will make alot of fans angry but one of the main reasons they are hating on this movie is because they think that it's nothing like the original 1994 version and that it's an insult to Brandon Lee's legacy. The original is just too overhyped, and most people only love it so much because of Brandon Lee's tragic death, and that somehow makes it special with some people even calling it the greatest movie of all time. If Brandon Lee had never died while making the movie, it would not be overhyped or popular as it is now. Some people would probably not even care about it. Brandon dying somehow made this movie holy and untouchable. People need to move on from the past and see the new one as its own movie instead of comparing it to the original. Just try to watch it with a clear mind. I'm not saying that you have to like it. That's your own opinion. I surprisingly loved all the things people hated about this, and I actually think the old one has the problems people are saying the new one has.
Reasons why The Crow (1994) is bad.
The movie felt bland and boring
The acting was quite bad, and there were a lot of cringe and cheesy moments.
    The villains were forgettable
There wasn't much action, and even if there was, it wasn't good
We don't really know anything about Eric or Shelly and what their relationship was like when they were together. All we know is that they get killed, and he gets resurrected to get revenge.
Why did it take 1 whole year for Eric to get resurrected
Why does nobody really seem to care that a man just came back from the dead after a whole year. It's like they found out and didn't really care. They didn't question what the hell was going on and just went along with everything as if it's normal.
The humour wasn't funny and didn't work for me.
How does someone come out of their grave after 1 year looking so fine?
We see him kissing Shellys spirit at the end, but how the hell does he get himself back into his grave. did he bury himself back into the grave, or did somebody do it for him.
Now people are going to say that the new one has some of these problems as well, and yes, it probably does, but the 1994 version is way worse. All I'm saying is that The Crow (1994) is definitely not a masterpiece and is not as good as people praise it to be. The new one isn't a masterpiece either, but it is still way better.

All these would-be critics or even the normal audience apparently still don't understand it or just don't want it to enter their stupid brain that Brandon Lee's the Crow is a completely unjustified highly hyped film or even a masterpiece that no one should touch. For me that was it The film was just a normal comic adaptation and the film didn't even really get that right because the film had absolutely nothing to do with the comic original, there were characters in the film that don't exist in the comics at all, neither this little girl Sarah nor the police officer Albright and this strange psychopath gang, the film is only being pushed so high because of Brandon Lee's death. If he were still alive then it would just be one of the comic book films that are quickly forgotten, and everyone has the right to have a different Crow Telling a story because it's still a comic book template finally gets it into your skull and doesn't keep ruining every film just because you don't like the fact that there are other Crow stories to tell and stop constantly saying this stupid thing drivel about remake or reboot this is an independent new interpretation of the comic book and has absolutely nothing to do with the Brandon Lee film the story is completely different and sticks closer to the comic series than the Brandon Lee film the new the Crow film has completely different villain characters and a completely different ending than the old film and the fact that the film is constantly being trashed by people who have absolutely zero idea about the comics, let's finally let it be, there are also different Batman films or Joker films or Spiderman Films if everyone constantly had something to complain about or would do everything badly, that doesn't have to be the case. Every director has the right to film what he wants 😒😒😠😠😠😞😞
