Love watching them. Keep going and power to you. Thanks for putting so much of your own time in to the videos. Much appreciated.
been using Shinee wax for a few months now, it is great! I often use it as post wash detailer and the gloss is great and it rarely leaves any marks on the paint, super easy to work with too! just keep away from direct sun/hot panels and it'll leave a very deep and glossy shine.
@Brenton L PA High Gloss has been my favorite for a while. deep shine that repels dust. I have ordered Shinne Wax and look forward to how it looks vs. High Gloss.
@@rixZR2 high gloss has been my favorite spray sealant so far. Amazing gloss, ease of use and hydrophobics. Did you get to compare Shinee wax to it yet?
scenicroadwaysyt hello! I haven’t used it on my car yet as PA high gloss is still going strong and I doubt I would notice a difference until PA starts to lose its appearance. I did use Shinee on my wife’s black SUV and it gives off a wet glossy look I was very happy with. However, it loses some of it gloss within a couple days as where PA high gloss stays glossy weeks after its applied with no need to top it after several washes. Shinee vs PA high gloss will be very hard to tell the difference when first applied. Oh and I am a product whore that using my wife’s ride as a lad-rat before making it onto mine. ;)

Jon, why don't you retest the three with high gloss reading on a different panel, then it will take any doubt that's lurking in the back of your mind and give an overall clearer result.

Jon, you really put gloss readings into perspective with your work; Job well done. You showed mathematically, how good and how close each of these products really is to each other. Especially since the difference between the top and bottom products on the list was just 5 points; let me explain. We have to remember the human eye can’t even see the difference in gloss when the change is less than 8-10-points from the baseline reading. So, looking at Griots, for example, the total of six readings changed by 6 points, so when you divide the 6-point total by the 6 tests, you end up with a net change in the gloss of 1-point; basically, it’s invisible to us. When you look at your top test, TAC systems, which had 12 points from six tests, and then divide by six, the average is only 2 points from the baseline. The top product was +2 and the lowest was -3. I love it because we all feel the product after we put it on our cars to gauge the slickness, but we still can’t see the difference in the gloss. Basically, you can’t go wrong with any of these for gloss and it comes down to personal preference. On the opposite side of the coin is durability and that we have learned is very different in the products you displayed. And finally, the cost can now be weighted greater in our decision process because the products are, for all intents and purposes the same to the human eye. In this business you have to be real about expenses and the products you choose will reflect on your reputation which is how we get loyal customers and referrals. So, since the products are all about the same in gloss, durability, is what will or will not protect your reputation and bring back repeat business and it is the cost of the product that will keep you in business.
Would the Gyeon not be the best choice simply from an ease of application stand point? Seems like it's a simple spray on and wipe off as as drying aid whereas the Shinee has to be wiped on with an applicator and then wiped off.
Just bought Tac Systems Shinee Wax off the back of your review. I love D&D Si edition gloss so hoping this’ll top that. Look forward to some good weather so I can give it a whirl
I think you need a way to include the starting gloss measurement as a modifier for the calculation. The higher the original gloss the result is weighted up
Fantastic!! I have been playing around with several combinations of products and while it’s extremely intensive the only way I have been able to consistently reach higher 90’s on the gloss meeter was with a base coating of CQuartz UK 3.0, followed by Geyon Can Coat, then Angel Wax High Gloss, then finish with P21s Concourse paste wax. It’s always a several day process but the outcome is worth it! Paste wax never lasts long over a coating but it gives it that warm glow that just can’t be recreated with a coating
I applied CarPro Lite a couple of weeks ago after a 1 step with Sonax PF and I think I preferred the look of the car before I did it, wanted a solid base so still happy I did it. Bouncers is still a class product for me as I loved the way it made my car look and it’s good for dusty summer weather.
John great video and detailed analysis and the I love have one of those meters but they are pricey . Like see you due this with cermanica and graphene coatings. RSPEC readings will give you best data on how good the paint will look. Love the spreadsheet John ❤👍
i agree ceramics are not as glossy on application but it seems within a few days the gloss massively increases...I throughly belive that lite-weight ceramics need to be washed off, and remove the "dried out" product. I would be really curious if you did a small mini test about this on a small square panel, gloss before, after, and then after a shampoo wash. I think the gloss will increase after a shampoo wash jon, would be very curious.
Interesting test Jon. Surprised the Done & Dusted didn't do better though. I'd like to see some of the new Wowos products tested at some point, what with them all being revamped recently.
Having purchased Shinee Wax after seeing your results I can say it is indeed very easy to use and very shiny, however since applying it I have had nothing but water ring marks every time it rains. These are hard to remove so I wont be using it anymore sadly.
I don't know how you could do it, but have you thought about doing this test with low pre readings? Would be interested to see what products can breath some life into dull paint.
It is *insane* on top of a quality coating's cool bright gloss.. adds some of the warm glow of natural wax and a dripping wet gloss. You will *not* be disappointed there. It is short lived though, a few weeks/washes, but it's worth it. I break it out to top show cars and my high end packages right before they leave.
I’d be interested to hear your view on WOWO’s Show Stopper. I’m hearing great things about it, although apparently it’s just supposed to be a short-lived product primarily for car shows etc.
It's a nice detail spray to have, not really essential. I think DDsi is the best topper in terms of looks, easy of application, water behaviour abs lasts 3-4 weeks. Showstopper lasts up to 5 days in dry weather. It looks a tiny bit better than DDsi.
JWL The DDsi is a great product. I’ve just used Gtechniq C2 for the first time as well. On top of Swissvax best of show it produced an amazing gloss on my silver paintwork.
@@simonwhalley1743 good to know! My daily driver is a silver car too. Just polished mine with Auto Fanatic's one-step Secret Weapon and coated with Fusso Coat. DDsi is my sacrificial layer/ drying aid from March to October. During winter I swap it for BSD. Showstopper does make silver paint pop.
Im using Bouncers SIO2 right now and really like it BUT Im working with a silver car mostly and its always a pig to get any real depth on that colour . Use it on the lads orange 208 and its massive gloss improvements . Ive thought about Beadmaker as a replacement once its used up but the price was kinda putting me off it for the amount you get . Top video as ever …...…… Happy isolation shave as well
Amazing job as always. Recently I’ve tried a few different combinations on my vehicles. I used angelwax regenerate the. Egnima AIO topped with egnima wax. I was absolutely blown away. Did it on a black 2006 Yukon. Dripping wet! Ran out of time but will tip with ti22 tomorrow. Egnima was a little sticky. Other combinations are jescar power lock plus and Colinite 845. NOw that is slick and beautiful. Again amazing job!
I know it would be a lot of work but have you considered swapping test panels to see if products that were used on a low gloss panel still gave the same improvement when used on a high gloss panel and vice versa? Stay safe.
Hi John - thanks for the video and all the effort going in to help us mortals. ;) It would have been great to have seen Bilt Hamber in there, particularly Finis Wax. Cheers keep up the great work.
Great Video. Your approach to take 3 readings for each product left little to no room for error. But, I feel the glossiest pre test panel did some injustice to the applied products.
I'm after some advice please. I'm getting my first DA and wondering which cutting compound to use. The black roof on my Mini is pretty badly marred, not scratched. There are loads of marks, nothing I can feel with my nail. Thanks in advance.
How does tac wax work In terms or protection, I feel when I've done a full detail removing the swirls etc, then applying a wax it gives me a lair of protection as it is thick but with a spray wax I don't see how it can protect your paint as well as a wax will, also how would the gloss levels change if at all if u applied the HD wax then tac wax over the top???
Thank you for doing these tests, in my experience, a lot of the SiO2 quick detailers and Beadmaker are shiny BUT they do not darken the paint color for that "wet look" the way polymer sealants or carnauba wax based products do.
I don't know if I got this right. Most readings stayed virtually the same pre and post. We're used to seeing 10+ gloss units in general when this test is carried out with Graphene adding loads more and hitting 100 when Brian tested it. I was expecting the likes of DDsi would bring the panel at least to mid 90s. Totally confused. Was it the machine that was wrong? Guess most readings are taken at normally taken at 60 degrees not 20, was that the issue here?
this machine does not have like a setting of 20 or 60 it just snaps both for every reading. gloss comparisons are generally not comparable. for example my red peril wont reach of 89-90 units of 20 degreee measured gloss but its lovely to look at. My scrap panel outside will measure 90 gloss if you buff it quickly with anything really. These test panels are gloss black with no metallic fleck, with soft paint systems. one thing also is 60 deg gloss meters loose accuracy when the readings go higher than around 70 gu.
I only started to get in to detailing a few years ago when someone gave me a lift in an immaculate Ford Focus ST Mk 1. He swore by SwissVax and I started with their products. Very pricey I know but I rarely see their waxes or sealants in comparison tests. Is this because their products are seen as a bit old school or overpriced? I must admit I love the Shield was, one of their cheaper lines but some of their show waxes are incredibly glossy.
I was not impressed with shield at all. But I really love the way swissvax waxes buff off the panel. I want high end companies like swissvax to exist and they deserve to have loyal fans. I want to try and do a high end wax comparison soon and try and get a good swisswax offering in there.
Would be interested to see how WoWo's Show stopper would perform under your gloss meter Jon,it's specifically designed to give intense gloss but zero protection. In the future maybe.
Jon,I'm seing some great results with carchem hydroseal hybrid, as a topper on a ceramic coating and also as a standalone. Please can you do a test on it to see what you think.
Quick question. I have this ceramic coating called ISM coat 2.0 from kamikaze. After applying it do I have to wax the car at all? Is waxing contraindicated after applying it?
Hi John, quick question from another video. I recently purchased waxed plant 8 below and used it today. Mine was no where near as foamy as yours in the video, I used 90mls in a 1 litre snow foam as recommended by yourself in the video, am I doing something wrong? Or are there other factors involved such as pressure washer? I have the K4 compared to your K7.... could the pressure be the answer? Would really appreciate your help mate! Thanks
I could be looking at this wrong but the tac systems gloss level looks like it gets around 87 yet on some tests you did previously using autoglym products, uhd wax and ceramic, i thought they reached abput 90 on the gloss levels
Superb video. Appreciate the effotrt imvolved. I have been using Dodo Juice finishing products for a while, Future Armour (Spray Sealant) & occasionaly topped up with Basics Detailing Spray. Happy with the results on a Red 2013 BMW 116i
I'd like to do a question... In the video dont talk about the durability of jetseal... now (10-10-2020) can you tell us something more about the durability of this product ? (Chemical Guys Jet seal?). I am looking for information about this feature (durability) of the JeatSeal but it is difficult to dive into the internet and find accurate and secure information.
@@ForensicDetailing Fantastic video. Thanks a lot. Your job is gold for the fanatic of detail in all the planet. Is fantastic. The job of one person is useful for thousands of us... Thanks again from Spain.
My mentor always said that the gloss is in the paint not the product. That is true but anything water based should give more gloss than solvent based as solvents can effect gloss negatively. Silica based products give a higher film build than silicones/waxes so more gloss/colour richness but many product types work well. You do great videos Jon. Always fun to wafch.
@@ForensicDetailing spot on mate. My thoughts are that polish gets the paint as good as it can be naturally and the sealants, waxes, gloss enhancing glazes plus coating as well take it a little further than polishes can due to acrylics pdms siloxanes, t1 grade carnauba and resins in these supplementary products. Im all clear no covid 19 after being tested this week. Phew. Stay safe yourself. Check out my podcast with the rag company soon, i hope that it is helpful and interesting to all detailers and enthusiasts. I dont consider myself a guru, just passionate
So Jon high gloss does not necessarily equate to high protection or longevity. Does this have to be an either or. Or is it the more you spend the more you get.
gloss and durability are not necessarily proportional correct. And no the more you spend the more you get is not really true. The true gloss comes from you maintaining the paintwork and maximising the physical gloss in the substrate...
I can vouch for the Shinee spray wax! That stuff is absolutely incredible. I have never tried a TAC product I didn't like.. This was awesome, you put some serious hours into this, big thank you! 👍👌✌
Am I missing something, I've bought tac systems shinee wax to use after my regular maintenance wash. I've carbon black bmw paint and it leaves a horrid streaky mess that's near impossible to remove. Am I doing something wrong or have I just got a bad bottle. Mines pale yellow in colour should it be bright yellow instead?
Thanks I'll check it out and see if I'm overlooking something, I had such high hopes after having incredible results with their one step master paint sealant.
Have you done anything on Wowo's Show Stopper Jon? I know it doesn't last, gives no protection etc etc but I saw someone say it was as glossy as Done and Dusted, then I saw how far down the list D&D came! Maybe they were talking about D&D SI edition? Blimey this industry does my head in sometimes!
gloss is a funny thing. but the old adage that your time is best spent maximising the physical gloss in the clearcoat and maintaining that is very very true. that being said I think some products have an edge, how or why I dont know but some seem to consistenly test higher.
@@ForensicDetailing yep, that is probably the most important thing I've learned from you, that the quality of your end results no matter what you use will depend on how good you've managed to get your clearcoat!
Forensic Detailing Channel Thanks for the prompt reply do I need to change micro fibre clothes I’m using some I got free from in2detailing (grey fluffy things, there really soft but could be creating static) thanks Richard
How long after the application of the ceramic coatings you measure the gloss? As you probably know, most of the ceramic coatings take a couple of days to fully cure, unless UV light is used. Only after full cure they reach their maximum gloss. What are your observations?
I normally wait 24 hours. Ive done longer tests over 7 days its doesnt normally make any difference in terms of gloss readings. most of these products lower gloss on highly refined finishes.
Great test. Based on you tests could I substitute Tac System Shinee Wax for the Turtle Wax Spray Coating? Is or will it compatible? I have a fresh layer of Turtle Wax Polish & Wax on the car?
short answer is yes although, shinee wax is like a detail spray/spray wax.. Turtle wax ceramic spray coating is like a durable SI02 spray sealant so you can juice more durability out of the SI02 problem with barebones prep.
I know everyone raves about Beadmaker but I found it to be the worst product I've tried so far. I've never seen a comparison with Gtechniq products, I'd LOVE to see how they fair in the gloss race. I find them the easiest to work with and just gloss second to none.

Great video! I used Shinee wax today on my car for the first time and it’s unbelievable how beautiful my car looks!
it does but a good shine on as well. most products do but im convince this and the gyeon detail spray are like shine monsters.
@@ForensicDetailing I think CarPro Elixir would match them too
Sonax BSD?
I wonder which result you would get by using the Menzerna Power lock ultimate protection.
The slickness of this sealant is incredible.
Give em a try
Having purchased Shinee Wax after seeing your results I can say it is indeed very easy to use and very shiny, however since applying it I have had nothing but water ring marks every time it rains. These are hard to remove so I wont be using it anymore sadly.
Fantastic video Jon, thank you so much for all of your work and efforts! 🤩😉😊👌🏻🙏🏻
I use Gyeon's Ceramic Detailer and am really impressed with its slickness and gloss.
I don't know how you could do it, but have you thought about doing this test with low pre readings? Would be interested to see what products can breath some life into dull paint.
Great video, John. Would adding Shinee as a topper on coating to give an added boast be advisable?
yes mate exactly that and its made by a coating manufacturer so should be good with ceramics.
Awesome stuff Jon mine arrived yesterday and used it today, by far the best I’ve used thanks as ever
You really have the most amazing product reviews. I appreciate you and all the work you put into this.
thanks Joey
Hi how does the autoglym UHD compare to the meguires ceramic liquid wax ?
After using autoglym super resin polish
i found if i follow the beadmaker direction and do 2 layer , it will do boost it a bit more!
Good and thanks for the test m8!!
I use Maguire's ultimate compound and I'm wondering what's a little bit more aggressive than this ?
I know it would be a lot of work but have you considered swapping test panels to see if products that were used on a low gloss panel still gave the same improvement when used on a high gloss panel and vice versa?
Stay safe.
you have to polish the panels to remove the products fully and then you scramble up all the gloss values.
Hi John - thanks for the video and all the effort going in to help us mortals. ;) It would have been great to have seen Bilt Hamber in there, particularly Finis Wax. Cheers keep up the great work.
Thanks for introducing me to Gyeon Quick Detailer... superb product, love it.
Great Video. Your approach to take 3 readings for each product left little to no room for error.
But, I feel the glossiest pre test panel did some injustice to the applied products.
The link to TAC systems Shinee wax isn't working...
should be sorted now thanks Dutch
@@ForensicDetailing Without haven't seen the video I just bought Tac Systems Shinee wax :)
Thanks for the discount!
I'm after some advice please.
I'm getting my first DA and wondering which cutting compound to use.
The black roof on my Mini is pretty badly marred, not scratched. There are loads of marks, nothing I can feel with my nail.
Thanks in advance.
I love all your gadgets. Been looking for a gloss meter. Just found a nice microscopy camera. Great work!
Shouldn't the Adams be +1.2 not -1.2?
correct I update now.
From what I saw you would be correct.
@@ForensicDetailing Couldn't help but notice! Great video. These tests are excellent 👌
Jon great video. My car has been ceramic coated for 1 year. Could I use this as a topper over my ceramic coating?
Not only can you but you def should. It will greatly extend the life of the coating
Can this be used ontop of their spray sealent jon, the one you reviewed a couple of years ago.
I’m always learning something, thanks for taking the time to do the testing 👍
Can you use either glass or a mirror as the base medium to get rid of the different gloss readings of the medium from the test?
Thank you Sir!! Excellent attention to detail I love the deep dive on all the products I love the technical nerdy data.
@@ForensicDetailing polish angel would be nice to compare also.
Me too. Goes on well and great gloss.
I love your testing methodology, Jon, from a retired physicist.
Quick question. I have this ceramic coating called ISM coat 2.0 from kamikaze. After applying it do I have to wax the car at all? Is waxing contraindicated after applying it?
@Jon, is polish angel high gloss worth $70 and how much better (adding gloss) would it be than shinee wax ?
would have to test to answer this but polished angel are a interesting brand worth checking their stuff.. pricey yes but i think its good.
Shinee Wax is definitely on my wish list now! It looks to be a fantastic summer product for when you’re more interested in gloss👌🏻
Does that mean, that if you had a high gloss reading then added a ceramic coating, the gloss reading would drop?
Would you be able to out of he three top off this test.. and have a durability test to show survival?
Hi John, quick question from another video. I recently purchased waxed plant 8 below and used it today. Mine was no where near as foamy as yours in the video, I used 90mls in a 1 litre snow foam as recommended by yourself in the video, am I doing something wrong? Or are there other factors involved such as pressure washer? I have the K4 compared to your K7.... could the pressure be the answer? Would really appreciate your help mate! Thanks
yes mate have a watch of how to get thick snow foam on the unplugged channel.. But my K7 makes really thick foam.
Forensic Detailing Channel cheers John, just to make sure I am using the correct dilution, 90mls Wax plant in an 1 litre foam lance?
I could be looking at this wrong but the tac systems gloss level looks like it gets around 87 yet on some tests you did previously using autoglym products, uhd wax and ceramic, i thought they reached abput 90 on the gloss levels
Yes, no ?
I can help here IVe been doing a long term test on the product. see here>

@@ForensicDetailing Fantastic video. Thanks a lot. Your job is gold for the fanatic of detail in all the planet. Is fantastic. The job of one person is useful for thousands of us... Thanks again from Spain.
Another great video as always! Thanks for all your hard work!
Solid video. When I saw the notebook, damn. That's what makes you videos very unique and objective
Nice set of FLex polishers in the background. As the Das6 Pro's are out of stock can you recommend a similar budget beginners DA polisher please?
My mentor always said that the gloss is in the paint not the product. That is true but anything water based should give more gloss than solvent based as solvents can effect gloss negatively. Silica based products give a higher film build than silicones/waxes so more gloss/colour richness but many product types work well. You do great videos Jon. Always fun to wafch.
the physical or natural gloss of the clearcoat is the main thing isnt it. cant beat a good polish :) stay safe mate great to hear from you.
I would like to use shine wax tac system for my car and top of coating is tac moonlight.. It is good to use both products?
Yes it's ideal m8
What's your opinion on this shine armour stuff that's being touted all over the place at the minute Jon?
So Jon high gloss does not necessarily equate to high protection or longevity. Does this have to be an either or. Or is it the more you spend the more you get.
gloss and durability are not necessarily proportional correct. And no the more you spend the more you get is not really true. The true gloss comes from you maintaining the paintwork and maximising the physical gloss in the substrate...
I can vouch for the Shinee spray wax! That stuff is absolutely incredible. I have never tried a TAC product I didn't like..
This was awesome, you put some serious hours into this, big thank you! 👍👌✌
Will it give Any better gloss than meguiars wax ?
Am I missing something, I've bought tac systems shinee wax to use after my regular maintenance wash. I've carbon black bmw paint and it leaves a horrid streaky mess that's near impossible to remove. Am I doing something wrong or have I just got a bad bottle. Mines pale yellow in colour should it be bright yellow instead?
Its impossible to know mate but maybe this can help.

Thanks I'll check it out and see if I'm overlooking something, I had such high hopes after having incredible results with their one step master paint sealant.
What make and model gloss meter do you have? I'm looking at the Landtek gm-6, but yours takes more readings I think. How do you like your gloss meter?
You're doing great work here. Thanks!
Thanks a lot for your work. It's pure gold your job. I can see results and to obtain conclusions with your cientifics tests.
Hi Jon have noticed that dust seems to magnetize itself to the car have you experienced this
the surface of the car does carry a charge I think. so that would make sense.
Forensic Detailing Channel Thanks for the prompt reply do I need to change micro fibre clothes I’m using some I got free from in2detailing (grey fluffy things, there really soft but could be creating static) thanks Richard
@@Bigladrik no it wont make any difference rich. its tree pollen season right now so cars will get the pollen and dust on them..
Forensic Detailing Channel cheers Jon appreciated
may i know sir which product are great and cover with thick layer protection? not only for the gloss but include with coating protection
check out tac systems moonlight as a standalone protection product or a product to top up an existing coating
@@ForensicDetailing I see, thanks.
Lockdown hair cut... I got the same thing going. 😂
Lockdown weight gain too...
I find them the easiest to work with and just gloss second to none.
i wouldnt touch beadmaker, or any P&S (PIECE & SHIT)
David C that’s funny, I wasted 20 bucks on a gallon and the small spray bottle I just want to use that up it sucks!
Levi White I’ll pay you a 20 to ship that to me
my silver metallic car glows with Beadmaker over a traditional sealant (Powerlock+, Wolfgang)
