I got mine around a couple of years ago, it's a great car. People think rwd drifting is easy, and it's not. Lots to learn and put into practice. Sometimes I take that knowledge to racing games like assetto corsa and forsa horizon 5.
I just got this a few weeks ago myself. I found the moving the rear top shock mount all the way out helped a lot. You can also remove the spacer from the front upper control arm to get some camber for turn ins. Don't go too far in or you'll lose your toe out. Moving the motor to the upper mount position gave it a bit more snap in transitions, then if you move the esc where the engine was you'll have the weight a bit further back without having to buy a rear mount.
I got a chance to drive one of these today. I never thought I'd want a drift car, but I absolutely fell in love with the thing, and it inspired me to start rebuilding my Tamiya TT02 into a RWD drift machine.
I recently bought an mst rmx 2.0 rtr from Slide Dynamics. Went down to my 'local' drift club and had an awesome time. Just upgraded the servo as the stock onebate itself but they're great cars
I used a full sized hardcase zeee lipo 2s with deans connector to start with. Changed over to a shorty lipo fairly soon though. Just have to shift the esc and move the stock battery holder bits in a little.
Have ran the rmx 2.0 kit for about 4 years at West Suffolk drift we use silver dots at our club here in Suffolk but we have the rtr as a hire car so people can give it a go. 👍
Myself and a few of the lads went to Slide Dynamics/Kent Rc Warehouse at the weekend. Hired some rigs out and had a blast, definitely recommend for anyone thinking of getting in to it. 😄 Great vid btw 👊
I was able to experience playing with a rwd drift rc last month in an event here in Dubai and whoa, its so hard to control, there are few moments that i drift the car nicely and it is beautiful to see, and thanks to the guy that let me play his rc drifter. They are all friendly
Stunning work, great 1 handed drifting, my issue has also been having somewhere to run them...... This is a bit out of my price range, but i am looking forward to more content with this chassis
I always took issue with RC drifting as well as RC boating. They always seem more fun to do than to watch......however, you've proven me wrong. I want learn to drift better. All the other commenters in the comment section are right, drifting is difficult. But, it is so fun and even funner to learn. I've truly enjoyed watching your drifting videos. Thank you so much. I can't wait to see more 1/24/1/18th scale content as well.
Jeez, Phil, I'm genuinely impressed. That extra hour of practice shows, because drifting one handed while filming? Is that something you'd have thought you'd be doing, even just 2 weeks ago? Me neither, haha. Good job on that. Being an older, speed-comes-first guy, I find drifting to be very boring to watch. I get that it's very difficult to learn and requires uncommon driving skill just to be average, so I respect the class, in & of itself. I was surprised to learn that an rtr drift car isn't something common by now, so, good on the company for introducing one. Cheers!
Just as well your getting some drifting skills. First bit of half decent snow we get you’ll need them for your pickup truck 😀 I do miss my pickup truck 😞 Top content as always 👍
Another great video, Sir. Good editing and camerawork getting better and better, very nice. Have you ever considered playing with lighting in your shop? Like spotlights to give your track a bit more pep? Maybe even coloured spotlights? Probably not cheap but maybe think about it. Cheers.
It's funny, as an old school car guy (50+ years) for all my years drivers and tire manufacturers were concerned with getting the most grip as possible. Then along comes this "fad" of sliding your car around. Back in the day if we wanted to do donuts etc we just inflated the tires to 50 psi which reduced the contact patch by 80% which meant it was like sliding on ice.
The colour choice really pops bud and I take my hat off to you drifting one handed I can just about drive my crawler one handed, but it is a bit of a reach with the noble haha great video as always 👌
You want the front suspension soft and the rear stiff. I like AWD with an open-front differential and a locked diff in the rear. It will give you a lot more control along with the right tires.
Just started. Ack upnin the rwd drift game, looks a mint chassis for the cost that Phil! I've gone 3 racing sakura D5 and Yokomo yd2 plus though. Now I need to do some setup research to get it dialed in. Might be long winded but would be cool to see a basic setup video? Like motor timing, sus setup and toe in/out for basics and of course the ackermann angle explanation lol Keep the vids coming though Phil 🤙🏼
Im reely in interested in comparison between mst und yokomo chassie, without tuning and in the hands of a beginner. U just got subscriber sir! Keep on!
One handed drifting, your taking the P*** 😭 You'll have to switch hands soon then your in trouble. Great idea mate to expand on one side of the hobby, now you've got the space. Can't wait for your first event haha
Wow , not sure what price I expected but I wasn't thinking £350 😯 lovely little car right enough . Guess I'll be sticking with cheap and cheerful 4wd pretend drifting for a while yet 😂😂👍
@@RealJawnes no doubt ! I suppose it's all relative though , it's just a decent wedge of cash to sink into what could be considered the budget end of RWD rtr drifting if you've no way of having a go before you buy to see if it's your kind of thing. Gotta pay to play ! I guess as with all things , the more popular it gets the more competitive pricing will become. I might never have branched out into crawlers if it weren't for sub 150 quid mini crawlers 😀👍
Man I'm loving that m8 I have the kyosho fazer evo x but the thing is its not drifting with 4wd its power sliding drifting is done with rwd and that's where its at love this car man can see way you picked it with that body well nice bud good choice 👍
Not quite persuaded Charlie and I to venture into this area yet but we love watching Your videos of drift RC's! Daddy currently sat here editing CHARLIES CARS! next video! Would You mind at all if we posted on Your Facebook page? Thanks for the great videos! Charlie and Daddy
Literally getting mine in 2 weeks getting the rb86 brushless rtr kit I'm gonna be drifting outside on concrete road since I'm in process of building my own track in my yard gonna be concrete first then over time I'm gonna be laying epoxy down for a smoother surface but what tires should I run for best slide and grab ratio also wat upgrades should be my first to look into I'm thinking a mount to relocate the motor to the front and making it shaft driven instead of buying one set up like that since I'm not the best rn I don't see need to pay for a shaft driven one just yet but I was gonna upgrade to it as my skills progress
Rc clubs can be fun but my local rc club where I used to race 12th scale gt cars started getting expensive. Membership of the club and weekly fee plus needing a insurance and a transponder got very expensive for the 3 or 4 5min runs each week. For drifting a empty supermarket carpark does well
for my first drift car i wanted to build one, because i know if i would have gotten an RTR one, if something breaks i would have no clue how to fix it. I went with the sakura D5, its a 100 dollar chassis but its great, whole build was around 500$
@@TomleyRC there's a fun challenge, set up a D-12 for your track. being its so short, stock gearbox with 260 would work. soften front is just un-pin the midpoint of the torsion wires, inducing a little camber and toe out is just making the rods about 1.5 mm shorter. they can drift surprisingly decent with stock electronics once you get used to driving it like that.
Hi Tomley RC, I watched your review of the FTX Carnage a year ago and took your advise and bought my son one for Christmas. A year on and he loves it, it’s been great. Please can you recommend a brushless upgrade motor & ESC ? Thank you 👍
Cheers for the feature Phill, keep up the good work👍✅🥂

Nice
Love seeing all the drift car videos I belive their rise in popularity and the lack of informative videos makes ones like yours extremely useful 👍

Mine just arrived in the mail 😀Came with metallic charcoal grey rims. Yay! Looks pretty rad together with the white 86RB body.
One handed drifting!!!There you have my like.Greetings from Spain...Love your job, sir!!!
I have this car for 4 months now, and its simply amazing. Sourcing parts can be hard though. If you want to drift better you can relocate the motor.
Wohooo, look at that beauty! That body looks terrific and the wheels color is perfect! Great choice, sir, and great video as usual. Keep it up!
I love my mst rmx 2.0. I’m happy I got it instead of a cheaper on. I put a killer body on it 👍

The transformation from crawleromley rc to the driftomley rc!😋 love you tomley!
Haha… yeah, what’s next….. 😅
I’m
Amazed with the shots you got mane 😂😂
I wouldn't cut the body Phil, just use a thicker 'o'- ring on the front body posts, just to lift the front very sightly.
Thank you for atleast featuring a MST rtr cuz imo they are they best bang for your buck for a proper drift car
Yeah. It’s awesome 😎
awesome drifting and filming
Just got started putting my RMX together, which is pretty straightforward, looks like a good time coming ahead...
That looks awesome I was looking at a tamiya tt01 chassis to drift with but wasn’t sure
Really love your videos. I look forward evey morning to see the new video. Thanks. Keep up the good rc videos.
