Oh man! I had a 1981 Trans Am in 1985. I paid $5,000 for it. I would LOVE to own one again!
An 81 did not come with a ta/6.6,5.0 or 4.9 turbo was it. The 5.0 4 speed was my first brand new car!

The 81's are suprisingly fast cars. Drove one back from Sarasota Fl auction to dealership in Bradenton Fl for a dealer friend of mine, it put me back in the seat and kept me there. That car was fun!!!

Nice! The only mistake pontiac with the interior is that with tan you don't put a brown dash pad and center console!! The 80' had a tan dash, not the 81' but I still love it!!
Actually Pontiac did stuff like that for years with the 2-tone interiors...my '71 Formula clone is Castilian Bronze over Sandalwood interior but the dash and console are an utterly heinous olive-vomit color. 😂😭

My number one favorite car ever. I had a 81 Camaro with a Pontiac 400, and firebird posi rearend. That car was a blast.
All u need now is a cowboy hat and mustache and make sure u get a case of Coors lite.

Some stuff has been changed on that Car...... I actually thought that was a 79’.
Those are wheels off a 79.... not an 81 and the shaker decal is 6.6 which is a Pontiac 400 with a 4 speed....
It looks clean but some shit has been changed around...
The biggest engine available in 81 was the 5.0 Chevy 305

I thought Pontiac stopped using the 6.6L after the 1979 model? The best factory engine in the 80-81 trans am was the 4.9L 301 turbo. Am I correct or was the 6.6L still available as factory option after 1979?
Yes, that's correct...it also has the '79-'80 hood bird instead of the '81 as well

81 did not come with the TA 6.6 the 4.9 Pontiac 301 cid engine came in the 1981 and 1980 cars along with the 4.9 turbo , I believe California had the 5.0 Chevrolet 305 engine , my uncle had a 1980 4.9 and a 1981 turbo 4.9 car. The 1979 was the last year for the TA 6.6

The 301 Turbo was an option in both 80 and 81 Trans Ams. Many came with the standard 301 4 barrel or 305 in CA..........

😂 Kinda like a 19yo tryna sneak into a bar by claiming to be 2 years older than it is with the 6.6 on the scoop and the '79-'80 hood bird. 😜. That said, I still can't believe that nobody (that I know of?) makes repro decals that-- other than the bird and the striping-- look anything close to the originals. ☹️
I thought 81 trans and were turbo 301s. I got 81 black gold 81 turbo ta t-top. For sale. Think tranny wouldn't shift out of second. At 80 mph tack was in red. Figured tack wrong since pulling 70-80 lbs oil. But got a tink tink. Assume lower end bearing. Or lifter gave up. Factory Manuel for car said add 4 qts no mention of a 5th to account for oil filter.
It has but fade gold speedo inlay. All emblems gold, wheel caps nose v. I don't have time to fix it. For sale or If price right will rebuild it. Had my firebirds and TA's. My uncle is a gto master rebuilder but he's getting old. Myself I'd just put a 400-455 in it. And go old school. Yes drive shaft and... I get that. Car has 67k. The guy who owned it girlfriend fish-tailed in tele pole. Car sat for year. Body straight door finger shut. I'm getting to old jack with crap. Plus uncle sitting on several 455's. Interior is ruff . You email me at dmann5065@gmail.com. But it is a limited. Had new tubes exhaust put on. I drove it 200 mile then the tick tick. Pretty sure tranny never shifted into highway gear. Since half deaf. And new "quiet" exhaust. But was pulling 70-80 lbs oil.
I wish it was a automatic trans however it looks GOOD FOR I'TS AGE 👉😎.
