No T-Tops = no creaking & leaking, but they were a huge deal for most of my buyers, back in my days with Pontiac (early 80s, selling late model used versions). Often folks when trading up would request no tops. Solid top, Baby!
That's funny, I'm a hard top coupe guy, myself. Born in '87, my favorite car is the Ls1 Trans Am, black and Ws6 of course. Almost all of them have T-Tops, and I really don't like them but everybody who rides in mine asks about the T-Tops and thinks they're cool. Go figure, haha
"Eastbound and Down" Bandit Trans Am, nice! Just watched that movie and brought back some great memories of being a kid. Beautiful car, not suprised it's sold already. All she needs is Sally Field in the passenger seat to be perfect...😂
Sold my 78 in 2009 couldn’t find anyone to pay more than $8000 and it was in better shape than this one. How times have changed. Wish I would have kept it. Finally sold it to a guy in Australia of all places.
If what you say is true , he is sitting on a gold mine, I’ve been looking for a clean 78 and you’d be paying at least 150k aud for a firebird as clean as yours
Sold my Blue 78 TA in 1988 for $5500, it was loaded, Bot it brand new in 78 for $7800, wish I still had it but 2 kids on the way, it was hard to justify! Would trade my C8 for nice an updated TA any-day!
Snowman to Nick the bandit, you got a texas bublegum machine behind you, put the pedal to the metal, iconic trans AM, thanks Nick great video stay cool 😎 😎 😊 🤟 😊
I would have been interested in this one aside from the rust on the rear passenger side wheel cover… you’ve put Maple Motors on the map for me. I’m from Toronto 😄
I dont know much about car but this is one of my fav cars. Iam not a 90s or 80s kid but i love this car so much. Here in thailand its not available but one day i wanna import it and bring it here. Btw i wanted to now that this is manual right?
Oh I noticed that all the TAs of that era don’t have them duel under exhaust pipes that definitely looked kool n were chrome of course.. But would scrape pulling in n out of steeper driveways.
Except that’s not a W72 Pontiac engine. It’s a base Pontiac 400 pushing 180 Hp The shaker call outs should say 6.6 liter The TA 6.6 was only for W72 cars, this car has a base “Pancho”. Still a great car
The optional W72 engine was rated at 220 hp , NHRA tested the 78! With the W72 and stated that GM under reported and they hp was more like 265. The car would do 14s stock
Now this what I was talking about this car here I wanted to see on one your videos. and it’s the year old school modern trans am cars I’m talking about around the year 77or78z
I got one pretty cheap in the late 80s. Painted it a different color and drove it for a few years. I have an '80 Turbo Trans Am now but it was redone years ago with a 454 and 4 speed. Technically Smokey and the Bandit 2.
They were the best year(s). I had two of them. One silver 4spd, beer can, and one dolar gold 78, loaded with everything but t-tops, came with the automatic though.
Nick been watching you since the beginning, one of these days your gonna surprise me and put on that cowboy hat and have some Jerry Reed playing when you test drive one of these
Are these supposed to be stock with technology from 1978? The exhaust was not at all what it originally came with. This car has headers that look to go straight into mufflers. I don't care for them on these vehicles, but catalytic converters are required, and the original exhaust collected both sides to one tube that goes through the cat then splits and goes to the turn downed dual tips behind the rear wheels.
Missing the correct splitter exhaust pipes and wrong call outs on the shaker. Should say 6.6 liter. But over a REALLY nice car and someone scored a great deal on it .
I know in 79 the 6.6 liter was a olds 403 engine, but the 6.6 liter in 78 was just the standard 400 with 200 hp correct? I know the t/a 6.6 has another 20 hp as well. I know that engine only came with a 4spd in 79, but in 78 wasnt the automatic available with the t/a 6.6 220hp, just like with the 4spd???
Correct. The TA/6.6 was the call out for the W72 Pontiac Engine, 400 block with 6x9 heads , qudrajet 800cfm carb, high energy ignition, available in 78 with 4 speed or an automatic trans. Pontiac had a limited number of blocks left for 79 and only offered then on the 4 speed. The W72 was advertised at 220 hp for insurance and EPA purposes, NHRA treated the car in 78 and reported the hp at 265 .
Decals were correct. Some 78 Trans Ams had different sets of decals, depending on when the car was ordered from the factory. Also, the Trans Ams were assembled at both Norwood, Ohio and Van Nuys, CA, from 1978-81.
why are you teasing us with this car if it's already SOLD? I get a hard on and and ready to move money around to go there and check that beauty out, but it says SOLD FAST
I can't get enough of these old trans ams and camaros. They are timeless. Beautiful car.
Couldn't agree more! 2nd gen camaros and trans ams are my favorites
no survaillanced friendly cars. All mechanical

Nice care. Rear main seal appears to be leaking
"Eastbound and Down" Bandit Trans Am, nice! Just watched that movie and brought back some great memories of being a kid. Beautiful car, not suprised it's sold already. All she needs is Sally Field in the passenger seat to be perfect...😂
My friend in high school bought the first 70 T/A here in ICT...LIST PRICE WAS 5700 PLUS CHANGE, FULLY LOADED. White with blue interior.
Sold my 78 in 2009 couldn’t find anyone to pay more than $8000 and it was in better shape than this one. How times have changed. Wish I would have kept it. Finally sold it to a guy in Australia of all places.

ALREADY SOLD, as soon as the video showed up!? Dang, someone really wanted this car!
Yep sold fast but I already had the video. Just showing the inventory that we had since it was already made. Thank you
@@MapleMotorsNickSouthgate so how are we supposed to know when they’re available if they sell before we ever see them on here?
I owned a 1979 Trans Am black with t-tops, gold pinstriping, etc. The t-tops never ever leaked. It was a beautiful car but really slow.
Wow. That went fast! 😀
Good thing about the gas fill under back plate is Dont have to pick or wait for a side!!
I dont know much about car but this is one of my fav cars. Iam not a 90s or 80s kid but i love this car so much. Here in thailand its not available but one day i wanna import it and bring it here. Btw i wanted to now that this is manual right?
Maple 🍁 motors makes Monday great again
Thanks for the uploads
Even if they are sold
Great video! Just finished putting an LS into my 79’ hard top. Drives like a dream. 🏎💨
I see why that sold fast. Awesome ride
Oh I noticed that all the TAs of that era don’t have them duel under exhaust pipes that definitely looked kool n were chrome of course..
But would scrape pulling in n out of steeper driveways.
Nice car. I would like to have another one for old times sake.
Noticed the. Ta 6.6. Real Pontiac 400...220 hp. 15.2 automatic puartermile....high 14 with 4 sp. Nice
Except that’s not a W72 Pontiac engine. It’s a base Pontiac 400 pushing 180 Hp

The TA 6.6 was only for W72 cars, this car has a base “Pancho”.
Still a great car
My buddy had a 78 with 4 speed, did mid 14s stock

Interior has that 70s funk 😄
T tops were aesthetically pleasing, there’s no other use for em 😂
10 K later, this would be a beauty...
Had a 78 455 4sd. Hands down the most fun car I've owned.
No such thing as a 78 455. 76 was the last year for the 455.
Back when I started driving in 85 these f bodys were 1500 to 3k all day but supply and demand.
I got one pretty cheap in the late 80s. Painted it a different color and drove it for a few years. I have an '80 Turbo Trans Am now but it was redone years ago with a 454 and 4 speed. Technically Smokey and the Bandit 2.
My brother had one just like this...special ordered w/o the chicken on the hood and with black interior. He hated that crap and so do I.
Kickdown is hooked up is music to my ears
Someday before I die I'm going to own another Trans Am.... It pisses me off how fast they go and the prices that are demanded out of them 😡😡😡😡😡
Same here
nice truck your avitar has
Well i bet theyll be a bit cheap in the future
Only $20k! I’d be happy to pay the conversion to AU$ to have bought that
Thanks a lot man for an honest review...nice ride!
Omg thats so cool !! If I lived down there id be in trouble..or broke ! Lol 😆
Breaker 1 9 breaker 1 9 ... It's the bandit son!! Lol
The first Bandit car was 1977, though. This is pretty close.
@@LITTLE1994 yes I know.
@@LITTLE1994 and the interior is black on the real bandit car. But everytime I see a black trans am with a gold bird I think of the bandit
Thanks nick
Wow wow I just love this one Nick perfect amazing looking car thanks Nick
That year is the best year! Dang went to fast
But 4 speed tho
They were the best year(s). I had two of them. One silver 4spd, beer can, and one dolar gold 78, loaded with everything but t-tops, came with the automatic though.
Cars with a working horn are worth $5K more!
…Miss my ‘71 Mustang Mach1. LOOKS like it had a Main Seal leak underneath that “roll-over” view..
Sold fast ? Maybe these late second gen Pontiac’s and Camaros r finally starting to get some love
Was waiting for you to get one
I will get one of these b4 30 👏🏾👏🏾
ありがとうございます!
Another great car by Maple Motors 👍
That's one nice horn.
I would have bought that sucker!
Nice n clean for a 78. Horn should work.
Doah! T/A ain’t on the website! Musta went quick!
Nick been watching you since the beginning, one of these days your gonna surprise me and put on that cowboy hat and have some Jerry Reed playing when you test drive one of these
Aaaaand theres that yellow TA again. For sale??

Damn my 1978 L72 400 4spd posi , all original gota be worth little somthing !
Wonder if it will wind up in DC in the up coming weeks...need a bandit in the convoy!! lol.
Guess I’ll keep mine
Clean Bird
A W72 Pontiac 400 with an automatic.... thought the automatic only came with the Olds engine
Nope, 180 horse Pontiac 400. T/A 6.6 was 220 horse with chrome valve covers stock. 403 Olds was 185 horse ....cool cars then and now!
That was only in 1979. 78 was a different story
How u doing nick this is Joseph in hot springs riding shot gun with u have a good day
Iconic
Mr. Bert Reynolds would be proud RIP
Hey Nick, nice car! But, I wanna go for a test ride in that blond bikini car! Test her horn button! Oooogahh!!! 😍
Dream ride

Honey hush
Perfect, I dont like T Topps and had that nice Radio,,, I would Have $$ this one
It’s surprising how much asking prices are for these ..There not rare at all ..GM made tons of them
News just in... world in trouble.... all oldtimer muscle cars should be scrapped and have the metal reused for high MPG cars
why are you teasing us with this car if it's already SOLD? I get a hard on and and ready to move money around to go there and check that beauty out, but it says SOLD FAST
Eastbound and Down, loaed up and trucking were gonna do what they say can't be done...
Good Morning My Good Little Bro Nick Southgate Of Maple Motors
Thank You My Good Little Bro Nick Southgate Of Maple Motors
It leaks a lot of oil!!!!!
Twenty thousand dollars is about eight thousand dollars too much
Guess thats why it sold in an hour
Too many of the 1970s trans am cars are automatics.
Yes timeless but way over priced for what you get ..I owned two of them years ago ..
You have a lot of nice cars and trucks but every single one of them has a lot of non working things on them , lol
Yes but they are 40+ years old
