Me too. He maybe wasn't the best of the best but he brought something that cannot be put into statistics : the fun.
To me, Shawn Kempt is the embodiment of the reason why I love basketball. It is sometimes brutal, animal, athletics (which the today's 3pts shoot contests that take place in almost every game are not) and above all fun to watch.
      So, thank you Shawn Kempt.

His dunk style was so unique and aggressive it remind me a mix between martial arts and hiphop specifically Onyx the rap group around that time. Man, I remember my weekly pocket money was £7.50 and I saved that god knows for how long to buy the 95-96 Kemp jersey for £60. Kemp has a strong dunk image, but he's also good at mid-range shots and free throws.
If it weren't for all the problems, he was a talent that could have been the best PF of all time. His physical ability, as well as his ball handling for a big man, was good, and his skills were high. Personally, he's my favorite PF player.

Slept 3h after the match and then woke up at 6 a.m. to go to high school. Still have his Kamikaze shoes, his poster when opening my wardrobe, Sonics winter cap and his jersey. It’s hard to remember when he wasn’t inside the nba on top 10. Also when he blocked MJ. MJ was running, took off at the same time Shawn made one step, they both went up, MJ started falling down, Kemp was still hanging up, after the MJ released the shot, followed a great block.
Pity he had to leave Seattle and it ended up this way. I remember visiting Seattle. He was no longer playing. Man, just being in the Key Arena watching Seattle Storm vs Connecticut Sun, got me so many memories back of him, got goose bumps. Thanks for all the great memories Shawn. Thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to relive my youth… I tried to play like Kemp as a kid… I didn’t want to be like Mike, I wanted to be like the reign man! I see Dee Brown all the time and I always tell him I was a Kemp fan… Dee broke my heart in 91. He told me he use to live down the street from Shawn and would pull out the slam dunk trophy every time Kemp drove by the house

G.P. & Kemp were most definitely TOWN OFFICIANADO'S off of the court! They rolled hard and good together! During their time with the Sonics you could almost always run into one or both of them at the downtown seattle tower records no matter what time or what day u would go there! It almost felt as if they worked at Tower they were there so much!

I got to see Kemp play in his last year in high school, in Lagrange,Indiana. He was playing Lakeland high school. He had 26 points at half time in that game. At some point, towards the end for him self, I wish he would of taken better care of him self and played longer. At one time, he had it all. Love you brother. ❤

I remember when I just started getting into sports I didn't really know or favor any one player or team because it was essentially all new to me. Then I got NBA Jam on Sega Genesis and I discovered the Seattle Supersonics! Since I could never do what he did I mirrored my playing style to Gary Payton then later on Jason Kidd but I always felt like Shawn Kemp was the greatest "what if" as a fan. He had all the athletic ability and was actually a pretty damn good shooter. Had I not seen this video I would have forgotten he played with Tracy McGrady, another one of my favorite players who was also a big "what if". It's just crazy how much time goes by so damn quickly that you may miss certain things so I'm glad to see channels like this that make me reflect and remember what I grew up on

moved to seattle in 1990 and wasn't much of an nba fan at the time. was much more interested in college hoops but caught my first game on the tv playing in the background at a new friend's place and was transfixed. the playground style of payton and kemp was so refreshing to see. was a diehard sonic fan from that point on. haven't watched a game since the sonics left. if they ever come back, i feel like i'll have to completely relearn the game in it's current form. so much has changed, but it would be great to have interest in my fav pro sport again.

The Angriest dunker of all time. Between his Spin move dunk on Clifford Robinson and his dunk on Rodman. I have yet to see another player get off the ground as fast as he did. It was like he had mini catapults in his shoes. Very Solid Mid-range game also.
