This single cinematic is better than the majority of movies released in years. The animations, the voice acting, the writing. Blizzard really needs to make a movie, a funny cgi cinematic one. I am looking forward to seeing what they do with the Warcraft movie, but their cgi stuff is so impressive.
"We were meant for more than this. To protect the innocent! But if our precious laws bind you all to inaction, then I will no longer stand as your brother." Revan and the other Jedi who followed him to the Mandalorian Wars could have also said this to the Jedi Council
Imagine being archangel, One of the most powerful existences in the world, Then you sacrifice almost everything to save humanity, Tyrael back then so badass.
Because it's about individuality. About knowing right from wrong, regardless of rules/laws. And it's about being willing to suffer for what you believe in.
Did anyone notice in 2:27 to 2:30 that there were 5 streaks of falling stars during Tyrael's sacrifice? The other one was small and not very obvious. It is on the upper right of the group. What could that be? Could it be Tyrael's armor shard? Tyrael's wings?
tyrael is by far my favorite character in any game, it is also the reason I play diablo 3 time and time again and will fallow the franchise as far as they are willing to take it
I know right, tyrael is the true justice and true archangel on Diablo (even though he is now mortal after he tore his own angelic wings, he is still an archangel of justice.). P.S: If only Malthael weren't corrupted and never discover "death" power, Malthael is still remain High Heavens and helping Tyrael's decisions (this includes Hope and Fate).
For his service as Guardian and protector,Tyrael will be honoured as one of the Angels who wouldn’t stand by and watch while we burned. You have my thanks
Imperious doesn't care about humans only himself, using his power and authority to his own ends. Tyrael was trying to say to him that sum times laws such as the ones preventing the angels from defending the human race must be broken, especially when the human race is being attacked by the demons.
Imperious did care about humans during the Sin War trilogy. He cared more, though, about the threat they posed as children of both Angels and Demons -- something he couldn't account for (because, quite frankly, they could go to both sides even without interference) and that Itherael would give him no advice on. Imperious also cares more about Glory/Valor and the Sanctity of the Heavens than he does about anything else.
After a fairly unimpressive amount of restrictive DRM and iffy auction house maneuvers, my faith in Diablo III was immediately restored by this cutscene. I don't think I've ever seen video game CGI done better than Blizzard does it.
WE WERE MEANT FOR MORE THEN THIS~! WE WERE MEANT TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT~! Life Lessons from a video game..... dispite the Company who made it not following it anymore.
You have got to give it to Blizzard. They make some of the best Cutscene's out there. I also love the Wrath of the Litch King one as well. Great stuff. Voice acting and everything is on point :) Great job guys.
@@SamerAN1985 That's contradictory though. If Valor itself can be a coward, then there's no reason Justice couldn't be unjust. The traits of the Archangels can either be absolute or not. Also, being fearful is, like, the least of the issues Imperius has.
@@pepi7404 i don't think tyrael meant that imperius was a coward but that his adherence to the rules and his absolute belief in the necessity of not interfering into mortal affairs while the prime evils themselves broke that law (because both the burning hells and high heavens made a deal to not interfere in the affairs of the humans) was wrong and led the angels into inaction.
One thing confuses me about this otherwise epic proverbial middle finger to the Council. Angels predate humans in Diablo. Humans in it are half angel and half demon. So why would ripping off his wings turn him into a half demon? I just ask because if that was the case then, going by this, wouldn’t any angel who did the same back before there were Nephalim become one?
As far as I understand, what matters is the soul, humans are half demons half angel in the metaphysical sense, regardless of their physical appearance. Tyrael's soul is purely angelic, so he remains an angel in a mortal body, that is why Malthael spared him
So, this takes place 20 years after Diablo 2, and it's safe to say that Imperius is mad at Tyrael for 'interfering with the mortal world' because he destroyed Mount Arreat when he took out the Worldstone. Why did he wait so long to punish him?
According to the lore, Tyrael sacrificed himself when he destroyed the World Stone. His physical form was obliterated and it took 20 years for his energy to coalesce into another physical form. This cutscene is the first time he returns to Heaven after destroying the World Stone.

Act 1 was so sick - especially at the end when you enter the torture chamber. Amazing game. Normal mode is too easy though, after playing Dark Souls it's even easier.
The problem with the whole scene is it doesn't make sense in the context of Diablo's universe. Angels in the Diablo universe aren't ascended or even really all that strongly related to humanity. Humanity in Diablo = what happens when you strip a Nephilim of their power and the Nephilim are the children from a union of Angels and Demons. So it makes no sense for a fallen angel to turn into a human.
According to ancient references, the nephilim were tribal and primitive. Tribes ranging from 13 feet tall to 30. Some of the tribal giants had red hair.
It wasn't the literal stripping of his armor, that was only part of it. It was his choosing to strip himself of his angelic and immortal power to become human that was sacrilege- to do this he had to strip himself of his wings and armor. It's curious because imperius represents the law and tyrael represents justice. Two things that does not always mix. Laws are built to maintain justice though, which makes justice the strongest force at it's core. As seen here. So what happens when laws and justice collide and there isn't enough room for both? The Arch Angel of Justice falls because justice itself ceases because of the conflict. So much symbolism I love it.
***** Actually Imperius represents Valor. When Malthael was with the other top angels, Imperius was said to have been more open to the wisdom of others. Really in truth Imperius is just an unbending dick... but that has its place too...
