    When Lilith say's 4:36
    "And our son?" Then sighs after Inarius's expected answer, you know you have a true sympathetic, flawed but powerful Mother villain. Pawns or not in her scheme to claim Hatred's essence, she had a form of love for Rathma and the world they originally created. She just couldn't get a stubborn Angel by nature to accept what they have done together. Truly a great tragic end and realization that he was beyond redemption, which made it oh so much better.

    • @wingledon2465
      @wingledon2465 Год назад +34

      Lilith didn't love Rathma. He was a means to an end same as Inarius. Watch her "mourn" when she takes the key from Rathma's body and keeps talking about herself. Lilith is a demon first and foremost and can only love herself and her schemes. But there are so many in the comment section who worship Lilith almost on the same level as the cultists we kill every day in the game. Lilith said it herself, she wasn't there to save anybody - all she cared about was herself.

      I think unhealthy attachments to children in a selfish way are kinda natural in a sense. We think we have children solely for love (times we do have that capacity), however, in nature, we bear children as way to continue OUR legacy (DNA/Genetics). She is a demon, I understand she is something beyond a good and evil comprehension. But with as many statements as "Stolen from me" were there, there were subtle hints of attachment of "Saving your place in my world, just the same" when wondering would he be against her vision and plan for Sanctuary. You don't fold the arms over of someone who was ONLY just a means to an end and pay a moment of respect, nor monologue a moment of pain and weakness (She woulda just raged and only pulled the key out). It's again, not so simple with Lilith for demon bad, (angel badish good?), there was depth and complexity, which made for a more compelling nature of the villains in this game and the true meaning of the prophecies that unfolded.

After that, all he wanted was returning home, in Heavens, but angels didn't want him anymore ; so he was ready to do anything to be accepted in Heavens once more. Exactly like the Cathedral of Light, all he needed was a prophecy to trust ; and It ended by death for him and the soldiers who follow him. Inarius fate is really sad, he wanted to escape Eternal Conflict and created Sanctuary and Nephalem in this objective, and he paid the price for it by losing his home, by being tortured in hell for centuries and by being ignored by his brothers til his death. There are tears in her eyes. I think she truly had feeling for Inarius. It clearly that she didn't want to kill him in the 2 last war because there still was conflict in his heart, but the angel cut their last bond when replied "I made it right to satify the heaven". The bad things about Diablo 4 story that Blizzard made Inarius a mad angel, who didn't care about human, not the one who used to tired with the eternal conflict and wanted a hideout for angel and demon. Inarius used to protect human from demon. But may be like Lorath said, thousands yeard in torture changed him.

    Two things I would like to comment:
    1.- When Lilith is impaled note that her hands are welcoming Inarius spear. Let's recap: they created Sanctuary not as a mean to end the Eternal Conflict but to merely escape from it: they knew the powers of both the Burning Hells and the High Heavens were too massive for any of them to repel. They just wanted a place of peace, where there is no need to battle. But at this point Lilith is tired of eons of battle, she wanted release and for a little moment she had the hope that death, even one as tragic as being killed by the hand of your past lover, could bring her that. But as she knew deep inside her that wasn't meant to be, she will live either to create a place that can stand the clash of the Eternal Conflict (and in the process destroying her own children) or she will perpetuate it but she will never know rest, just as the very essence of all angel and demonkind since Anu and Tathamet.
    2.- The prophecy said that the spear of light will pierce Hatred's heart. But Inarius impales Lilith by her stomach, and she being a female that also means her womb. Despite both of them creating Rathma not as humans reproduce but through rituals, the women womb is THE place of communion between male and female and in this case of more different forces: of demonic and angelic, of light and dark, of order and chaos. They converged in that esoteric womb, they created life in the place where all natures can interact. But that was thousands of mortal lifetimes ago and now they are again at square zero. They aren't past lovers nor allies, they are what they were meant to be: enemies who will give no quarter. And by crushing that space, both by Inarius hand and Lilith will, they destroyed any chance of communion between opposing forces. Father and Mother of Sanctuary declared the death of their hopes, signing in her blood and his wrath the burial of any future encounter. The conflict will rage eternal and the few ones who wished for something else are no more.
    Excuse my english but I know you will not read this crap in spanish lol.

Also the fact she was always telling the truth and wasn’t lying like she always was honest about everything but Iniarus played himself here, he really believed that the prophecy was all about him when Mephisto literally felt all his hatred before making him a prisoner. My impression of Lilith was that she was basically always lying. Her words were full of reason and sensibility; she made you want to ally with her. But her actions were completely out of sync with her words. Every person who was convinced by her words ended up becoming corrupted into fanatical lunatics willing to kill their friends... She killed plenty of people in spite of *claiming* to be there to protect Sanctuary and humanity. It was unclear how her taking Mephisto's power would mean the end of Sanctuary, or if that was just a desperate lie he came up with to try to save himself. Ultimately, I felt she was most dangerous because she was so intelligent, so good at understanding human desires and how to pander to them, but her true motives were never even revealed by the end of the story...
      I feel like a big theme of this story was: The enemy of my enemy is *not* necessarily my friend.

      Yeah people forget though that Lilith started the whole thing. So inaurius realizing the heavens with eventually realizing what he did tried to make up for his mistakes. So he killed their son that was half demon and used the world stone to make humans, something that wasn’t done by Lilith which would make him look better than if it was the both of them creating humans. They did however create the Nelthilum from ****ing each other which they bore their first son Rathma. Anyway yeah pretty much The Angel Counsel allowed the Lord of Hatred to torture him for all eternity until he came back. Bro just wanted peace in the end, and wanted his home back. He was tried of the Eternal Conflict so that’s why L&A worked together to make a world of peace and safe haven.

    They truly did Inarius and Lilith justice. Glad they took probably the best bit of lore Diablo 3 gave us and absolutely delivered. I'm also glad Mephisto got some of the limelight. He was barely a presence in Diablo 2 outside of one cutscene and the Act 3 boss fight. Unlike Diablo who was the main focus, and Baal who got multiple cutscenes and an entire expansion. Hope they do him justice in Diablo 4's expansions because it's stated outright he's the most dangerous of the 3 Prime Evils. Humans can supress fear and live peacefully at times, however hate is always present in the heart of humanity. It's probably why he was farther along in rebuilding himself than his brothers.

Inarius talks about how much he loves Lilith and how sanctuary is like a paradise. Lilith literally talks about how she's only using him and how sanctuary can be used as a tool to win the war.
