Weird Railroad Crossing, Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Signals In Operation, B&O Station At The Troy Wye

- Weird level railway crossing with signals in the middle of the street, abandoned Baltimore And Ohio Railroad station, train drops the signal ( green to red ) and B&O signals still in use! This is the CSX main line between Toledo and Cincinnati, Ohio. A Huron And Eastern Railway ( HESR ) locomotive is featured in this video being moved across this CSX railroad in Troy, Ohio. The old train station is no longer in use and is on property at a railroad wye that CSX uses for maintenance of way. This video shows 3 CSX freight trains including one that can be seen knocking down the signal at 13:00 with a fast train northbound. We get a good look at these rare signals. There are not many of these signals surviving so I am trying to film as many as possible while they are still in use. I like this railroad crossing also. Its cool how it has the signals and gates in the middle of the road and there are several roads that all come together at the railroad crossing. Listen in on 160.230 okay. Okay. Filmed December 14, 2021AD. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate your support! Please leave a comment, rate up or down and PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO JAWTOOTH!!

Been a while since I saw a circular signal like that.
You can tell that tracks rails have been ground on top by that whining
Not many of them are left. When I was little they were everywhere. Merry Christmas Mark!
@@JawTooth I believe that crew shortages are contributing to the low number of trains.
@@JawTooth Seymour IN CPLs are gone now
@@JawTooth B&O? The N&W CPLs (earlier PLs) were slightly larger. Only a few left!
@@JawTooth I saw the answer below from Thomas - B&O.
Hi Jaw Tooth. Beautiful surrowndings and station. I love the single track. The sky looks awsome.
1st train had a great horn!
Those position lights and. dwarfs are railroad treasures
Informing as usual Jawtooth and historic B&O signals
Merry Christmas.....ahh but wait there's more, Happy New year .
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
That empty station building would make a lovely house.
Not to mention, a dream house for s railfan.
Last time you were there a truck went around the gates and this time it sure looked like that school bus didn't stop to check for a train. It had quite a bit of speed when you panned to it
I, since the bus didn't have any kids on it, the driver had the attitude that he didn't have to stop - which is not true. Federal law states that buses have to stop at all crossings (even abandoned ones) before crossing, regardless of whether it is carrying passengers. Perhaps he did a quick look around for police cars as he was approaching the tracks.
Cool! Merry Christmas And A Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Merry Christmas to you
And the award for US Railfan Videographer of the Year goes to .....opening envelope....and the award goes to Jawtooth!
Merry Christmas, happy new year and my all you wishes come true.👍🏻🇳🇱
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Two different sizes of rail. Now that is interesting. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you
Merry christmas JT!
Another good one Jaw Tooth. Some real rail fanning material was captured. Again thanks for capturing my home town. When I was 4 and 5 years old, grew up right across from the Depot on Crawford Street. That was when trains crossed East/West, the old Big Four/Pennsylvania. Memories. I guess that’s why I love trains. Thumbs up Son!
Great video. I really enjoy your shots of those old train stations. Have a Merry Christmas sir.
Interesting to see the ties of friendship between the pets...very cool video !!
Cool spot to go railfanning
Great Catches!
That locomotive is a GP39-2. Very rare unit on CSX as they had 20 (I believe) and all are former Reading units not wanted by Conrail upon its formation. They went to the D&H after Conrail disposed of them, eventually becoming Guildford locomotives. CSX acquired them when CPRail acquired the D&H from Guilford, as CPRail didn't want them. They are now appearing across the CSX system after being confined/sequestered for years in Florida.
Thanks, Dave. Good information and appreciated.
Great info!
Always good to hear this type of backstory. 👍
Wow from the outside that place hasn't changed much except for the fencing. About 32 years ago I was a security guard there they had lead contaminated site and it was pretty big area and part of it was right there at the railroad and that was our office the roundy part that you showed that had the air conditioner in it, built a 1969 Camaro model painted it candy apple red thanks for going out to all these places and video for everyone you have a safe and merry Christmas and a happy New Year
A Merry Christmas to you
The 2 different size rails on that spur create an artificial banked turn around that curve. The larger rail sits on the outside while the smaller sits on the inside. It was cheaper to lay the uneven rails than to rip up the tracks only to grade if for the curve and lay new ties and rails.
I like the architecture of that old train depot and those old signals are cool. I hope they use them for a long time to come. Thanks for sharing.
I hope so too
Ex B&O and this entire used to have them up until about 2014 when slowly but surely they started taking them out and installing the Darth Vader signals to be Positive Train Control compliant. I just don't see why they couldn't retrofit them to keep the CPLs.
If you like that type of station, I can also recommend the Glen Cove LIRR station on they Oyster Bay Branch.
Thank you for documenting these trains and the ex-Baltimore & Ohio Railroad train station. That is a substantial train station. At one time Troy, Ohio must have been a busy passenger stop. It was nice to see another B&O signal still in use. I did see the signal drop when that last train went past it. You could see it above the cars. Thanks for uploading this video to your channel for us to see the signal and the train station.
Thank you very much! Merry Christmas Thomas!
@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars Thanks Fabian!
That old depot reminds me of an old castle type looking building or a village looking hut from the king Arthur days keep up the amazing work jawtooth merry Christmas
Thanks! Will do!
Merry Christmas to you
Wow, you really get around! Thanks for sharing it all with us!! And you gave me a great prototype to put together a scale model of an awesome old depot!
Can't get over how long that one crossing is. That's, like, HUGE.
Very cool! A bit more twist on the road and we'd have a street runner. Great train catches with some rarer engines! I always get a smile when you say "I'm freezing here" and you have an a hawaiian shirt and a short leather jacket open at the top :) Keep up the great videos!
We have a beautiful old depot too, which is sitting empty for a good many years. The Amtrak stops several times a day, as we're on the Chicago to St Louis route. Freight trains are usually once a day.
Hard work waiting around but woth it in the end, thanks JT. Recognised the crossing from earlier, where the truck wrong sided the highway to avoid barrier!! Great little depot house, make a super model. Could do with a little TLC though. Seasons Greetings to all 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🌲🌲🌲
Troy is the place to be on Sundays to catch trains. My sons and their mother will meet me there to spend the day with little Caesars and catching trains.
Awesome! The bike trail is a good way to watch them also
Very cool location! Beautiful old depot! I sure am glad they've kept those old signal's! Great video Jawtooth! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year!
A merry Christmas and Happy New year
That is what I call pure dedication: 3 Hours, 1 Loco and 7 cars, for the ultimate shot! Awesome signals! Ahhh, I think the "MORE'S" were the trains you were waiting for in the first place! 😁😁😁 Well, better late then never!
oooohh ! That yellow/orange locomotive is B-E-A-UTIFUL !!
That orange and yellow paint scheme you see there seems to be the standard Genesee and Wyoming Corporate design. G&W also acquired the Providence and Worcester Railroad as well as the New England Central Railroad (formerly, the Central Vermont Railway). Then, G&W insert that Railroad's black letters in the seen location, hence, I have seen the black letters NE CR and a P W painted in those spaces. For their Huron and Eastern Railroad they have painted in the letters HE SR in place.
Awesome video!! Engine running LHF and more catching the B&O signals is exactly what I was hoping for. Ohio sure has lots of vintage RR stuff to see!!
Great video son! Pretty soon the trains will be pushing snow. No snow here in Wisconsin either, but it's coming right after Christmas. Love the depot. It would be nice to se it restored and used for something.
I’ve lived in Troy for my entire life. I don’t go down to Union Street often to watch trains often.
Unusual to go three hours without a train.
That was a neat old depot. It’s been around quite awhile. Cool video Jawtooth. Thanks 👍👍👍❤️🎄
The Big 4 had a railroad cross in that Y. The Big 4 ran from Springfield to New Castle, Indiana.
Cool! I didn't know that
I love your videos. You Jason A, and WWOT are the ones I follow. I live in Nothern lower Michigan, and where I live we will see 1 train a week. Had one go through yesterday. It serves two customers. A lumber yard, and a metal scrap yard. I get my train fix watching your videos. Thank your for all you do. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Wow, thank you! My sister use to live near Dorr, Michigan and I use to Railfan up there .
@@JawTooth I know exactly where that is. I drive a tractor trailer, and one of my stops is next to the CSX line a former B&O-C&O line. I may get lucky and see a train leaving Grand Rapids heading to Detroit.
A Merry Christmas to you
I really enjoyed that video! It reminds me of the old industrial towns in NJ where I grew up. There are plenty of old lines and former passenger stations in NJ like that as well. Many are still in use. My favorite is Roebling NJ where the steel for the Brooklyn bridge was made and shipped by train from the Roebling plant. Many old lines from that era are still there and some still in use. I think you'd love to film that old stuff there Jawtooth. It's cool to see all that old stuff and then see a modern CSX train rumble through Roebling on it. Merry Christmas Jawtooth!
Merry Christmas to you
As always, great stuff sir! Thanks for sharing.
Really enjoy seeing those old signals and that old station was cool as well. Stay warm Jaw Tooth.
Thanks for the daytrip to Troy ( 6 trains 9.30am - 5pm ), loved B & O signalling with close up of Dwarf Signalling, just what I wanted for Christmas !
Have a merry christmas with your family & happy new 2022 year.
😁😄👌👍
A Merry Christmas to you
@@michaelhewitt258 wishing you & your family a very merry Christmas & happy 2022.🥰😇😷👌👍
The way the Station is oriented, maybe that Spur was once the Mainline?
It once ran on into Piqua.
Your finding these gems of the old B& O line stations, thank you, Merry Christmas 🎄☃️
Happy holidays! I found some of C&O signals still in use in Logan, West Virginia that I will be visiting soon
Cool video! Great location. The train station is cool, too. I thought the bus went thru kind of fast. Where I am, buses have to stop at the tracks, even if there's no signal flashing. Thanks for waiting in the cold. It paid off!
Thanks for watching!
That last train was hauling everything but the kitchen sink. Thanks for your perseverance and a great video!
Lots of good stuff. Great train station. Love the HESR loco. That's the orange one I think. Really cool video. Thanks J T
That's so cool! A old signal. Those trains will find there destination with those signal. Great video brian keep up the go work that me happy.
Great video Jaw Tooth. That orange, black and yellow engine 3510 was cool. Thanks for showing the old depot. Hope you had a very merry Christmas.
Very awesome old classic depot, train station, and signals. The crossing looks similar to a crossing we have here. It’s pretty big.
Very cool! I like looking at different crossings
I should have read the description. Huron and Eastern RR. Thanks for the video Brian.
Thanks Mr Tooth, and Happy Christmas from the UK. looking forward "and there's more" next year.
A Happy Christmas to you
As your cat gets bigger, she looks sooooo much like my all black boy named Milo....Very cute!
Another good one!! That old train station sure is cool. So glad it still stands.
Hey Jawtooth, that is a nice old depot. It's cool those old signals are still in use.
Have a Merry Christmas.
Looking forward to more of your great videos next year!
Thanks for the classic B&O signal, the long hood forward Geep, the medieval depot...and your patience!!!
Thanks JT👍🐈🐕🦺😎
Great eye to spot the different size (weight) rails! It's also always interesting to see those old signals. I live on Long Island, NY and they are starting to take down the old Pennsylvania Railroad position signals. The old signals seem to have much more character. Anyway, have a happy and healthy 2022!!!! 😎
That's an unusual crossing right enough. That 'Local' wasn't hanging about! That's a nice looking station; well worth of being a dwelling. Stone-built. A fine show of the B&O signals too! Thanks again Jaw Tooth. Have a Merry Christmas and All The Best Wishes to you and the Family for the New Year too! Cheers!
A Very Merry Christmas to you
Really enjoyed this video! I like that you pay attention to the smaller aspects, such as track dates, size, etc. Merry Christmas!
A Merry Christmas to you
Nice catches!
Thanks for enduring and sharing.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
Merry Christmas Jaw tooth
Merry Christmas to you and your family, John & Sherry.....carry on
another great catch of the signals being knocked down.............something most guys forget or don't think is interesting..........it's a video highlight to me.......thanks......keep em' coming,,,,,,,,,,,,
I agree with you. I want to get as many as I can before the old signals are gone
2 different size rails on that one track. Wow.
Just in a short area from the switch to the crossing
Nice catch can’t wait to see the new unit HESR 3510 running the rails
So I got to see the rest of Troy, Ohio! Now that is one cool depot! Thanks for documenting all these places for our viewing!
My pleasure. I love going to Troy, Ohio. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back
I don't have time to watch the video yet, but I just wanted to say that I love the thumbnail! Great photograph.
Awesome Brian. Cool capture.
Great video - Happy Holidays !
Nice video, like a railway museum.
Merry Christmas, Brian to you and your family! I'm sure Santa will be very generous! God bless!
Thank you for the trains and animals!
HESR 3510 looks sweet all redone. Thanks for sharing.
Good morning. Hope Christmas was amazing. Great video

Happy holidays!
Awesome video jawtooh have a happy holidays to u and your family
Happy Holidays
Merry Christmas to you and your family may the new upcoming year bring many more cool sites and awsome trains thanks for all the hard work to you and your son.
Seeing that one building that had the blue windows right next to the lines reminds me of one of the buildings by the train in new hope pa.
I really love the spots you choose for filming. Really very cinematic!
Enjoyed! Good train action. Love the kitty and the pooch at the end!
Wierd crossing. Gotta drive down the tracks away to cross.
Bet it's beautiful there when that canopy of trees are full.
What a beautiful depot. I hope they don't let it run down.
Another great location.
Take care and Merry Christmas to all.
Thanks 👍. Merry Christmas Chester!
Merry Christmas to you
Great stuff cheers. Hope you and yours have a great Christmas. Chris from England
Merry Christmas to you
I liked the railroad station. Thanks for all you do!
Great Report!! 😀👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Merry Christmas Mr. Jaw Tooth!!
Happy holidays!
Merry Christmas to you
Awesome video JT, those B&O signals are so cool! That old train depot is a neat place and I'm sure back in the day it was a happening facility. Troy, Ohio seems like a neat town. That CSX train w the short line locomotive that passed was a nice w quite a few cars. Then the surprise SPONGEBOB SD40-3's just made it b4 you had to cut out! Thanks for sharing as always JT.
Merry Christmas Brian and family!
Merry Christmas to you
thankyou, merry Christmas, Gigi from Austria
thumbs upped just for the train depot. also appreciated the grade elevation shot of the crossing and sidings. very interesting crossing. unique to say the least.
