We had a csx that blocked 6 major intersections for 3 hours. Bus supervisors knew it was not going to move so they backed the busses around around. Csx brought out another engine and pulled out of crossings. Reason engines stopped was locomotive engineers reached maximum hours on duty and had informed dispatchers would not have enough time to make Taft yard

That stalled train really caused a problem. Someone at the CSX Power Desk must have been in trouble for the stalled train. That Norfolk Southern train certainly had enough power on it. There were three Norfolk Southern and three Canadian Pacific on the point of that train. Once CSX got that additional engine on the front of the train, they were finally ablr to move it. Thank you for documenting these to trains and for sticking around until the train finally took off.
@@beeble2003 As I read Jaw Tooth's description, he said "The CSX train with a DPU was too long for the 2 locomotives." I made the assumption that the train had stalled becasue there was not enough power to more the "too long" train. I did not pay attention to the sound of the SD40-3 when the train finally past where Jaw Tooth was standing. If the SD40-3 was not running, then the reason for the train stopping was a mechanical problem and not the fact that there was not enough engines on the train to move it.
@@thomasmackowiak Hmm. Strange that the description says both that it was broken down and that the two locomotives couldn't move it. I'm pretty sure the issue was just the breakdown. Unless maybe he means that there used to be two locomotives on the head plus the DPU in the middle, and the lead locomotive had already been removed by the time JT got to the front of the train. That might explain the unusual situation of having a solo lead locomotive running long-hood-forward.
@@beeble2003 I suspect you're right, I didn't hear anything from the '40. The step lights were on but I don't think you need to have the prime mover running for those. Loosing half of your tractive effort due to a crapped out locomotive will put a crimp in your day every time.

Hey Jaw. Hey everybody. This reminds me a lot of a train that derailed its leading diesel several years ago in downtown West Green Bay on Wednesday evening during the Summer Farmers Market. It was Canadian National, Northbound and arriving just after 5:00 pmcd. It was rolling north just fine at 10 mph. SUDDENLY it stopped. It blocked both major roads of Dousman Street and Walnut. And a lot of people were climbing over the couplers and ladders to get to their cars. In fact by Dousman I was talking to a policeman and talking about the airbrakes when a young man climbed over the couplers right in front of us. The white young man had a raffa knit hat that was very colorful. The policeman called him over and gave him a good lecture. Meanwhile down the train other people were also climbing over. But others were climbing under the couplers. We were telling many others to just walk South and cross behind the train along Pearl St. Then I also walked South to the end. But there were NO RAILROADERS to protect the reverse move. Suddenly I heard the airbrakes activate. And tried to get at the back. But the train was reversing. Luckily no one was underneath. FINALLY!!! After 2 and 1/2 HOURS, the train started North again. Thus it was a huge relief to get the crossings cleared. Just in time for the street market to close down. And let the people go home. THANK GOD...AMEN!!!!! 😊 🙏. 12-2-21. (P.S. HEY. THE DATE NUMBER COMES OUT RATHER EVENLY, SEE!!) LOL!!!!!
I'm sure glad nobody was hurt. Walking or worse crossing a live track is really dangerous but people just expect "they will know" when a train will start moving. Of course by then it will be too late. I've read more people lose arms and legs due to stupid things like crossing a live track.
Blocked crossing! They’re seeing Red in Cincinnati. That was quite a lashup on the NB freight. Foreign power, SD40-2s, DPU. There were two DPUs on the two freights. Norfie has a beautiful coat. Fine video, son!
I'll take a stab at this. First, the train is in a yard, which one can see after the bus moving portion. Next, he's inside the yard limit board [yellow forked tongue] so the yardmaster is in charge. A single engine is dispatched to the head end, which makes me think there was trouble with the lead engine and the GP certainly did not have the power to move the train on its own. It was also pointed the wrong way thus a trailer lash-up. Whether the engine was the same engine on the head end or a replacement, it all takes time. And, of course, Karen had to call the cops. There's not much the cops can do when a train is having some sort of trouble. Maybe those folks will have to construct an overpass. Even with the train moving and carrying the whole nine yards, the crossing was still blocked for a long time while it moved out of the yard and on its way. PSR: Please Sit back and Relax because the length of the train means you can take a nap, have a V-8, or catch up on your reading.
What a lot of people dont realize is Trains have jurisdiction over everything. Cities have to have permission for roads to cross railroad tracks. Cities have to imform any repairs of the road 250 feet from the closest rail. Its all due to the railroad being there first. So the cops cant anything about blocking traffic from a train.
@@troy3052 I'm pretty sure that's not correct. For a start, the idea that the trains were there first is simply not true in many places. There were no commercial railways in the US before 1827, but there were plenty of towns there before that, and plenty of people there before there were towns. Second, it doesn't matter who was there first. I don't have any special rights over the people in the apartment above mine just because I've lived here longer; the railroad doesn't have any special rights over everybody else just because it's had its tracks there longer than the road. To take things to a ludicrous extreme, CSX doesn't have the right to park a rail car on every grade crossing and close all the roads. Many cities have ordinances forbidding trains from blocking crossings for more than a certain amount of time. The cops can't literally do anything because they can't move the train themselves. But the railroad can be prosecuted and fined. Cities only require permission to build a road across the railroad because the railroad is private land. If they wanted to build a road across your garden, they'd need your permission, too.
So people shouldn't make such a fuss and just adjust their lives to revolve around what's convenient for the railroad company? If the railroad companies want public support some consideration on their part might be a good PR move
Wow! All kinds of neat action! Those mixed freights had everything except livestock cars and a caboose. Did anyone notice the 2 different rail sizes, and the angle bars to join them? Good catches JawTooth!
That’s pretty cool to see those old faded CP engines!! Thanks for catching this. Enjoy your videos keep up the great work, always get a thumbs up from me. Cheers!!

Another AWESOME video Good catch We have the same problem Here in Kalamazoo The freight trains. Come from the east And curves to the south So the train is moving slowly Or some times stops A main street is blocked Sometimes 40 minutes The city's solution was to place a Caution signal On the side Street before the main crossing So when the tracks are being used or blocked Supposed to take the detour You go a mile or two. Then swing back to the main street The city decided to go this route Because building an over pass Would have been to expensive
ChainsawN&W1218,great video,I have heard of that happening on the local news out of Roanoke about NS trains would sometimes brakedown blocking crossings in Danville VA,I think I mentioned it before train crew's refer to Ethanol trains as bomb trains.
That was a very long, long, long train. The engine probably over heated and a safety relay caused it to stall to prevent any further damage to the engine or pending disaster from happening. Thanks for the upload
I was stuck on a bus at a RR crossing a couple of months ago - the gates were stuck in the lowered position for about 30 minutes until a crew came out to investigate. I guess the electronics are prone to overheating, because they have a a/c unit on the enclosure.
Years ago I remember being on a city bus and got stuck a the lights due to a malfunctioning gate. Since I was the only pax on the coach due to her supervisor dealing with another incident, I got out and flagged her so she could turn the coach around. Moments later we were on our way!
I live in Chester, South Carolina. We have three railroad lines running through our city, Norfolk Southern, CSX, and Lancaster & Chester. We have this problem all the time in our City. Lancaster and Chester interchanges with Norfolk southern. So there's a lot of switching daily. And traffic gets backed up
Loco 4053 must have had engine problems and need a new loco to get it moving down the line. It looks like they are running double trains to help with the port holdups. The MOW flatcars had a self-unloading ramp on the last car to load and unload the MOW equipment. Neat and really cool. Nice catch this time too.
I worked at a plant on a dead end road with train tracks and the train would often block the crossing. At times it would sit for hours at a time for everything from mechanical to crew change.
I just love that clickety-clack sound of the cars. You don't hear that too often nowadays because most of the tracks are welded, well you do hear that a lot on shortlines

That was interesting to hear about. Especially for me having grown up in the Green Bay Area.
@@Bhil3 me to !
Great Video !!! Lots of action !!!
Love the pets !!!
Awesome video as always and this one was crazy
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent video JT!!!!
Unless you are in the ambulance leaking out blood and would like to get to the hospital quickly.... Just saying.
i like your PSR acronym 😂😂😂😂
Cool video Jawtooth. Those were sure some long trains with DPU”s. 👍👍👍❤️
Thanks! 👍
Wow! All kinds of neat action! Those mixed freights had everything except livestock cars and a caboose. Did anyone notice the 2 different rail sizes, and the angle bars to join them? Good catches JawTooth!
Cool video Jawtooth loved the video and the live as action trains really enjoyed It
That bus driver should have called the supervisor after waiting for 15 minutes😢!!!!!!
Great vid Son ...I heard Norfie purring ...😼🐶🚂🚃🚃🚃Thx for posting ...
Glad you enjoyed it and have a great week!
Cool stuff son…. Hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving brother?? Always, thanks for sharing
That’s pretty cool to see those old faded CP engines!! Thanks for catching this. Enjoy your videos keep up the great work, always get a thumbs up from me. Cheers!!
Thanks for watching!
Those smaller CP rail engines were cool to see. Thanks for sharing.
They do the same thing here in Winchester Kentucky we got to train it comes to about once a day and has to stop good video jaw tooth thank you very much hope you had a happy Thanksgiving
134 cars 1 main engine 4 dpus so a total of 139 and he was bookin on the first train hope you have a good day jawtooth
That video was so cool that longest train was the best train I ever seen. Keep up the good work my friend
Thank you very much!
Your welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here in my area if the train blocks the crossing for a certain period of time they impose a fine on UP. Really does not happen very often.
They probably need a higher fine though
Breakdowns are usually exempt from fines, and that's what seems to have happened here.
A VERY LONG TRAIN INDEED THANKS AGAIN FOR SHARING THIS WITH YOUR SUBSCRIBERS I APPRECIATE YOU AND YOUR VIDEO'S YOU ALWAYS PRESENT YOURSELF AS TO FILMING SAFELY NOT ON THE TRACKS.
Another great video. I wouldn’t want to be the one who needs to use the facilities waiting for that train to go😫
When I SEE THE DPU AWESOME GOOD VIDEO THANK YOU AGAIN JAWTOOTH.
Another AWESOME video
Good catch
We have the same problem
Here in Kalamazoo
The freight trains. Come from the east
And curves to the south
So the train is moving slowly
Or some times stops
A main street is blocked
Sometimes 40 minutes
The city's solution was to place a
Caution signal
On the side Street before the main crossing
So when the tracks are being used or blocked
Supposed to take the detour
You go a mile or two. Then swing back to the main street
The city decided to go this route
Because building an over pass
Would have been to expensive
ChainsawN&W1218,great video,I have heard of that happening on the local news out of Roanoke about NS trains would sometimes brakedown blocking crossings in Danville VA,I think I mentioned it before train crew's refer to Ethanol trains as bomb trains.
Love your video's.
For your Christmas present I liked and subcribed.
Merry Christmas.
From Atlanta Ga. 12.24.2021
Yeah JT, the camera is certainly picking up the purring and norphie is now almost a full grown kitty cat.
That was the bus driver. A passenger volunteered to back up the bus. 🙂
Looks like the white suv had a teardrop by the side mirror, maybe an undercover cop.
How nice to see Canadian Pacific at Elmwood Place. I am in Toronto, and have the main CP line just outside my window.
That was a very long, long, long train. The engine probably over heated and a safety relay caused it to stall to prevent any further damage to the engine or pending disaster from happening. Thanks for the upload
Wow Brian that was interesting to see in that lash up on the first train coming through an old Pac-Man CP logo still visible.
What a great action packed video.
I saw Barney Rubble riding the train, cool !!
That was cool!
Thank you once again for the 'Live Action'
Yes. Purring picked up nice. Looks like our Ebony, a rescue to Md from Leesburg S.C.. Lived to be 14.
I live in Chester, South Carolina. We have three railroad lines running through our city, Norfolk Southern, CSX, and Lancaster & Chester. We have this problem all the time in our City. Lancaster and Chester interchanges with Norfolk southern. So there's a lot of switching daily. And traffic gets backed up
Good to see Canadian power helping out down south, for them it's a vacation to a warmer climate 🇺🇸🇨🇦👍. Camera picked up the purring no problem 🐈
At least the two SD40s on that first train weren't helping out, as thye weren't running.
Fantastic video!! But I don't like that CP SD40-2
Nice video.. I see the bus was headed to Oakley... that is where the PRR Little Miami connected with the B&O to get to Union Station?
Thanks for the info
The Purring comes in good and clear, enjoy your vids.
Yes! Thank you!
Nice catch!
I worked at a plant on a dead end road with train tracks and the train would often block the crossing. At times it would sit for hours at a time for everything from mechanical to crew change.
Hey Jaw Tooth at about 4:34 it looks like HO track code 100 connecting with an adapter to code 55. Cool
I actually meant to show that closeup in the video and explain it but I got sidetracked and forgot. That is pretty cool looking isn't it
Great video like always!:)
Thanks again!
2 DPUs moving the stuck train. I’m glad .
2 dpu alright and awesome video of RUclipsbah 👍😎🇺🇸🎄
I just love that clickety-clack sound of the cars. You don't hear that too often nowadays because most of the tracks are welded, well you do hear that a lot on shortlines
ANOTHER GOOD VIDEO VERY INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE THIS IS A TOUGH RR CROSSING INDEED THANKS FOR SHARING THIS WITH YOUR SUBSCRIBERS BE SAFE AND CAREFUL JAWTOOTH.
