Abandoned Railroad Crossing To Nowhere Still Working! Railroad Switching & Train With DPU, CSX, CIND
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 30 дек 2021
- Railroad crossing with gates and lights not used anymore but the crossing signals are still in use. The abandoned railroad crossing had 5 tracks but two of them were removed. CSX and Central Railroad Of Indiana CIND run daily freight trains. Long CSX mixed freight train with a DPU, a local CSX switching freight train and a huge auto racks train on CIND are included. We see all 3 tracks being used and we see the short CSX switcher pass by again at another crossing east of here. The company that the road ends at has been closed for years and there is a fence across the road. It would have been really cool to see this crossing in its hey day with all 5 tracks in use. The short train in this video used the middle track when it was heading west. They set off their train on the middle track just east of the crossing and then ran the locomotive around the train and coupled onto the east end of the train in order to return to Cincinnati eastbound. That local use to use a caboose along with its remote control locomotive for switching industries around Cincinnati. Recently the caboose has disappeared but I have it in a few videos. The long train with the DPU came from Louisville, Kentucky and ran to Cincinnati Queensgate Yard. The CIND train with the colourful locomotives was running from Cincinnati to the Honda plant in Greensburg, Indiana to pick up new automobiles. Most of the auto racks have 3 levels and can haul 15 cars each. This video was filmed just a few miles west of Cincinnati on December 16, 2021. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate your support! The fact that you were able to drive across the tracks is proof of why the crossing signals are still maintained.
It’s keeping the foamers safe!
I think it has to do more with the fact that it's a multitrack crossing. If it was a single track, they could probably get away with just the cross bucks and a warning sign stating to look before crossing, but because there's three tracks, a person could end up stopping on the tracks waiting for a train to pass and get taken out by another train they don't hear coming, so, signals and gates.
Thank you! I was already thinking about that when I saw your comment. I thought, well, you're over there.......
But they could take the the gates and lights away and just have crossbucks on a wooden post.
@@gramsci420 FYI: "Foamers" is considered a derogatory term for railfans or someone who follows railroads closely.
The local engine is a EMD SpongeBob SquareCab. It’s also set up for remote control. The amber flashing lights on the top of the cab indicate that.
Those big hills add a unique sound effect of the train horns probably due to reflective properties of sound waves , if i can compare it to a pipe organ , very majestic and wonderful to hear .
Ohio- Indiana- Pennsylvania- Upstate New York has some great train action.
Jaw Tooth should get a awards for Best Train videos.
Good morning to all from SE Louisiana 31 Dec 21.
The crossing actually does go somewhere. But the abandoned building to his left has an interesting story behind it. There is a Marathon Oil terminal on the Ohio River behind Jaw Tooth with a gated entry. The building to his left that is not in use used to be a transload terminal for bulk oil for Valvoline. They used to transload oil products between rail tankers and tanker barges to take oil down the Ohio. Years later Valvoline was bought out by Ashland Oil and entire tank farm and transload yard became theirs and operations were merged. But then Ashland merged with Marathon and became Ashland-Marathon Oil. Revenue from Valvoline was nearly 40% of the merged company, so they decided to spin off Valvoline into its own company. So in the new arrangement the new Marathon Oil took over the newer transload facility to the east and the associated tank farm and the west part of the transload with just 4 tanks was turned over to the new Valvoline company. So that abandoned building is the former transload pump house between rail and barge. There is a security fence around both properties. Any Valvoline business goes through the Marathon gate so oil trucks can work with the relocated pumps closer to the river.
is this by Lunken Airport Red Bank Rd ??
@@thomasabramson100 This is out on West River Road/US 50, out to the west of downtown Cincy. The Anderson Ferry is not far from here. It's the "old west side" of the city. Lunken Airport and Red Bank Rd area are at least ten miles to the east.
Interesting.
@@thomasabramson100 No. This is on the west side of town.
Your train videos are like a box of chocolates, we never know what we'll get, "Except wait! There's more!" Great job! Thankyou! Happy New Year!
I can hear the trains along the Mississippi River (BNSF) four miles away. I can just imagine what they sound like in those houses along the tracks! Great video JT!
The Ohio River is very close, directly behind the filming position. The hills rise up on both the Ohio and Kentucky sides of the river and the river is relatively narrow in this stretch. The sound of the train horns and at one time, the steam whistles of the old paddlewheel steam boats, echo up and down the river valley here. You do hear the horns of the river tows and boats out on the river. All along this stretch, there are many river terminals for all kinds of bulk product makers and suppliers.
Hahaha...
My husky and German shepherd played like that all the time with our cats. Sooner or later those tiny razor blades come out and teach the dog not to be so rough..... haha
Love it
One pulling, 2 pushing, interesting train. Nice video thank you.
A great video with two long trains. And a short with the tanks! Thanks for the pets! See you on the next! 🙂👍🇺🇸
You catch the coolest stuff - stack train with a single on the front and TWO DPUs both mid train, that single old rebuild EMD on it's own then that neat old ex Burlington Northern cascade green SD-40-2. Awesome. Thanks for the vids and happy new years sir.
Great to see Flatcars loaded with truck frames. I'm in Milwaukee, and A.O. Smith played a huge role in supplying frames for cars and trucks in days past.
Milwaukee Road, Soo line and Chicago & Northwestern, were the major carriers here.
Truck frames? 🤔
@@sandrajones2262 I am assuming that the black frames on the Flatcars are truck frames. I do not think any cars are made with separate frames anymore.
Happy New Year to you Jaw Tooth, from across the pond. Hoping for more great videos in 2022. BTW 2022 arrives over here several hours before it gets to you.
Happy new year to you and family
@@ernestpassaro9663 And happy new year to you and yours.
Jeremy Preece-What part of the country do you live in? And have a Happy New Year. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@kevinmiller6380 Happy New Year Kevin. I am in the Southwest
The dog is playing; the cat is plotting.
Love spotting those 48' container cars still in use. Thanks for another great vid.
Old BN in the classic green. Very nice 👍
Makes Sense to Maintain it since Moving it over to the next track would cost a Lot of money. 💰👍
It's been a great year to watch!! I started watching your channel this year and I really enjoy it. Thank you JawTooth for all your efforts in catching all the 'Live action'. Happy New Years to you and your family. Shoutout to all the pets, especially Chessie and Norfie!!
Maybe they are keeping the crossing lights and gates working for train watchers like yourself :) Nice train thanks Jaw.
Always appreciate a birds eye view. Thank you Jaw Tooth. The bug needs the eye of the eagle!!
As the autorack stated your videos are almost 2MUCH. Three trains wrap up the year with the variety of a mega train a regional and a local. Thanks for the great videos in 2021 and hopefully 2022 will bring more of the same. Happy New Years to all!
Hey JT! Great video. Thanks for bringing us rail fans amazing content for yet another year. Happy new year to you and your family! And all the pets too! That second engine looks like an old Burlington Northern GP unit! Sweet! Double DPU’s too! Great catch! Nice to see some old Conrail box cars as well! Man, you hit a home run with this one!!
Thank you very much! Happy New Y3ar John!
"That second engine looks like an old Burlington Northern GP unit!" That's because it is! 😁 (Except that it's an SD40, not a geep.)
I love it!
🌟🌟 Happy New Year 🎉
OMG that's alot of information!!!

I find your videos very relaxing. Thanks for your continued filming
My pleasure 😊
Wishing you a Safe, Healthy and Happy New Year. 🎆🎈🎊 We need to get back to some Normalcy. 👍
That first one...classic example...These days with as long as they can get, it's a mind-blower sometimes of how towards the end cars there aren't more broken couplers that there is.
You don't see broken couplers on long trains because there are often mid train DPUs picking up a lot of the slack.
Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up the good work
Nice echo at this crossing, and double DPU surprise, thanks for blessing us with such interesting sights every day!
Glad you enjoyed it
Jesse's going to be careful Cat uses claws the dog well not like it dog is going to be careful I always give you a thumbs up keep up the good work
Awesome find on that ASC bell, JT!
JT, I'll never get tired of waiting for more - go for it!
That must have been one busy place back in the day when it was B&O and NYC......
It's amazing how you manage to find these neat locations and then get multiple trains. Very cool !!!
thank you for all these great videos that you share with us .. *Happy new year* !!
Well ya won't get bothered with traffic there! Nice Burlington Northern loco! 👍👍👍👍
anyone else notice the old telegraph poles with the old glass insulators on them along the main CSX tracks? them are some old train lines there.
Good Afternoon Jaw Tooth.
Those houses on the hill would be great places to view trains. There’s a main road to travel on in case a train blocks the crossing. Happy new year to you and your family, JT!🎆
Happy New Year to you
I live by a rr track see trains everyday
I'll count that as three trains.
Judges: we'll allow it.

First train is a one long train! 155 rail cars total I counted plus 3 GE Locomotives. I like those newer rebuilt cabs CSX uses on some of their EMD power. And there's more
Thank you for the video !!! Happy New Year to All Your videos bring us hours of enjoyment.
That cental RR of Indiana autorack train hit the throttle and picked up speed at the end and an awsome video and really appreciate it
The Norfie & Chessie Show lol cant believe Norfie got a chipmunk, mice and birds yes. mice are near blind and birds are slow to take off, must have been in stealth mode for the chipmunk in most case all prey are taken when they busy eating. Those few seconds of distraction are vital a bell did help but our cat took to hiding in bushes, he was pure White a huge disadvantage in the prey stakes.
That building used to belong to Texaco along with the tank yard next door. They closed down in the early 80’s. Valvoline used it last and Marathon uses the tank farm now.
The light engine was a train. The definition of a train, if it has not changed, in our rule book, GCOR, is, “An engine with or with out cars displaying markers.” The marker was the red flag on the rear of the engine.
I wondered what that red flag was for.
@@toddselph5992 Back of the train is always marked so it's clear that nothing became detached.
That first one was really long. Moved slow enough for us lol. I like seeing those smaller gp engines. Those old buildings in the background are neat to see too.
Trains Trains and more Trains... that's a good spot, you got lots of live action there !!
Looking forward to 2022 Jawtooth videos !! Keep 'em coming son !!
Awesome video !! 👍 👍 👍

I was thinking the same thing.
The first RUclips video I've watched in 2022!

JT happy new year from Bohemia NY your videos 📹 are extremely exciting....keep it up😁...not too much freight action where I live🙁
In that tan building with the green boards, my buddy's dad used to attend old video game conventions, and my buddy and I used to put the cartridges that didn't work on the tracks to get pulverized.
The lead locomotive is a Burlington Northern on the second auto-racks.
Awesome! Just a FYI, That bell on the crossing for the abandoned factory is a rare ASC Electronic Bell. Nice catches!
Great last 2021 report!! Thank you very much Mr. Jaw Tooth! See you on 2022! 😀👍🏼
Always enjoy your videos!
Glad you like them!
Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!!
early in the train there’s an old ConRail box car with the NYC owner’s marker, which indicates that it belongs to CSX. When they and NS took over ConRail they divided up the tracks and rolling stock except for a few select locations in the network where both needed to have access to the location served, e.g Detroit, the port of NJ and several areas in Ohio
Conrail shouldn't have been busted up and sold to CSX and NS.
