- We were sitting in Stanley Idaho's Lake Stanley enjoying a beautiful day when they came to stock the lake. I know this video become popular, but I filmed this one the same day and I like it even more. Just saying. Check it out.

That's probably why they were freaking out and swimming to shore. You know what else helps when you kick them back in the water after they try to beach themselves.

Of course, fish are key to the eco-system of a pond. It's amazing to watch. My grandmother had irrigation ponds dug on her farm, then stocked with fish. Within five years, those ponds and adjacent areas were just teeming with wildlife.
My Mom would of loved to watch this, she loved to fish. Love you and miss you Mama ❤️

To be clear state fishing reports at the time say fishing conditions “good”...updated and everything. Don’t trust fishing reports folks...stick to places you know to have real stockings not bullshit in order to try to attract people to their businesses in hopes of catching their limits

Why do you stutter when you write?
The video doesn't show it, but did they check the water temps before cutting them loose? Trout are very susceptible to thermal shock. The state used to stock the river in my back yard when I lived in Michigan, and on occasion, they had to pump river water into the truck to get the fish acclimated to the slightly warmer river water.

I helped the DFG trout truck in the Santa Ynez river , I got to carry buckets of small trout and dump them in the river . It was a blast watching them darting all over . Good times .

Many years ago I once caught five Rainbows while the lake I was at was being stocked. Twin Lakes, Colorado (near Leadville and Independence Pass).
Where I live, the closest lake is basically an irrigation dam for the local orange and avocado growers, it is stocked every year by Fish and Game with rainbow trout because the "lake bed " is unsuitable for trout spawning. This dam is 3 to 4 miles around and the trout only get to about 2 to 3 lb, but still fun.

River shoes is what we call 'em. Everybody that walks in water, river or lake, where there is fishing (hooks) or people drinking (broken bottles) should own a pair.
Just one cut up foot, you or a buddy and you learn real fast.

I have been fortunate enough to be around when they stocked a lake with brooder trout, almost 24 inches long many of them. Those were some fat, well feed, good eating fish.
This makes me soooooo home sick moved to Michigan a few years ago and recognized Idaho instantly because of the white pine and fish stocking company man I miss idaho

Open season in NJ today and not a stock trout in sight. They took everyone's money for a trout stamp and provided zero trout in the streams.

Chances are this lake doesn't naturally have trout. It's a put and take system paid for by fishing licenses. It has NOTHING to do with restoration of an ecosystem. Read a little bit before you jump to conclusions

I think a valve was opened; at first, there was a lot of water and fish, all trying to get out of the same comparatively small pipe.
I thought the same til I saw them blasting out the end of the hose then happily swimming around (or going wtf) afterward. It reminded me of a giant awesome water slide I went down at Wisconsin Dells called "BLACK HOLE". It was a closed tunnel slide that basically went 90 degrees straight down and under the ground before it blasted you out the end! There was a big "heart attack warning" sign at the entrance, lol.

This was the right day to go fishing.
All the people talking crap about stocking fish in Stanley Lake, Idaho really have no clue! This is one of the the coldest places in the US other than Alaska. It freezes here more in a calendar year than any other place in the US. ( night time temps) That Lake is froze over for about 9 months out of the year. It's a mud puddle? It's prob cleaner water than what all you city urban folk drink! They stock this lake because most of the hold overs die from lake trout (big macks) and the elements or lack of food etc. a few get caught but they probably stock this lake every two to three years at the most. Google meadow lake in Idaho same thing. You can go there in June July August and you might see it snow!
