Gamesforus It‘s so weird because I‘ve played through the whole game 3 times and I still want to come back! Not even for new levels but just because it is true fun! Btw Galaxy 2 was garbage
I wouldn't say galaxy 2 was garbage. At first, I thought it sucked because it kept giving me 1-ups at the beginning 4 worlds, so I thought it was "easy" until the rest of the game happened. Its definatly a 3D Mario fans Mario game. It has the challenge, Yoshi, and grand spectacle of Galaxy 1. (Minus some of the atmosphere.) Honeslty the Hardest 3D Mario next to sunshine, except the challenges are fair. I wouldn't say it was a bad game, just a little rough around the edges with the content, not sure if it wants to be hard, or easy. And the green stars where not necessary. I think Galaxy 1 is by far the better game.
I've beat both the galaxy games 4 times and I still love them galaxy will always be number 1 in my heart because it's the one game I spent years of my childhood playing

Yeah, I went through that whole "linear = bad" phase due to the time when most AAA linear games were very bland shooters. These days though, I realize I actually much prefer a well-crafted, linear (or semi-linear) game. Half-Life is extremely linear but it's one of the best games ever. Why? Cos it was well designed and lovingly made. That's really the what makes games stand out for me, regardless of how linear it is. If it's a corporate, by-numbers shooter or Ubisoft sandbox I'm bored shitless. If it's a game that actually feels like it was made by people who wanted to make it, I'm much more likely to love it because, yknow, they actually cared.
Yeah. I don't get it either. Honestly, I don't care if any 3D Mario games are linear or not. As long as the level designs are open wide for exploring, stretches it as an distance for more to travel & how good it is, than I can have alot of fun. Galaxy 1 & 2 are definitely one of them.
It's been 7 years since I last played a Galaxy game, but when I threw Cappy in Odyssey I instinctually expected more air time. That's how much of an impact such a little guesture engrained into my muscle memory.

You can tell this is a love letter to Mario Galaxy- and I thank you. This is by far the most beautiful game that I have ever played. My childhood was filled with memories of me and my family playing this game.
Abner same, everything in the game just culminates into an amazing videogame for both children and adults. Everything about the game just turns it into one of the most memorable experiences for anyone who plays it. So i thank Scott for doing this beautiful game justice

14:21 This track right here actually had me tearing up. Galaxy is easily, without a doubt my favorite Mario title and one of my favorite games of all time. At some point I really need to sit down and play through it again, and relive my childhood.
I'm so happy to share my favourite game of all time with Scott and share the same passion that we both have for this masterpiece. This game is just simply amazing in every way, and even if it has some little downsights, it will still be my favourite game of all time.
While my heart still belongs to the N64 counterpart, Galaxy is a fuckin' miracle. This game breathed new life into the Mario series, and shown us that we haven't seen everything yet. Kickass work, Scott! Effin' amazing!!
I very recently played through Super Mario Galaxy on it's entirety and it quickly left a mark on me & became my favorite Mario game. Everything you said about it in this video pretty much covers the entire thing: It's such a beautiful, magical and perfect game. I haven't played Odyssey yet but I hope it's just as good as Galaxy. I swear the first time I entered Gusty Garden Galaxy and I began flying on the dandelion while listening to the best music track in the game I almost teared up because it was just so beautiful. And it had been a very long time since a video game had that effect on me :,)
jet 217974 I love how the point I was about to bring up turned out to be your profile icon too lol, that’s a bad Nintendo game, but I didn’t say that I just said odyssey isn’t bad but isn’t the best imo
Mario Galaxy is a true successor to Mario 64? Mario Odyssey is a true successor to Mario 64 and Sunshine? So when Nintendo makes the NEXT Mario game, they'll say it's a true successor to Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy?
Played Galaxy for the first time last year. And I gotta say, it's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played. The music is amazing, the visuals are absolute eye candy- I am honestly glad I was a bit older when playing this game for the first time, it would be a shame not to have enough memories of playing Gusty Garden or Space Junk Galaxy for the first time.
While I do really like Odyssey... Galaxy and 64 left a bigger impact on me. Maybe it's just because I was younger when those games came out so I was a bit more receptive to being amazed. I was 8 when 64 came out and that blew me away since it basically started the 3D platformer/collectathon. I just finished High School when Galaxy arrived and man, that exceeded my expectations. I knew I was going to like it, but I didn't know just how amazing it would be. I think the orchestrated music really helped hype me up in the game. I still casually listen to it. I also do really love Galaxy 2, but it's hard for me to put one over the other.
PaleoSteno COSTUME AND LOCATION SPOILER ALERT FOR ODYSSEY you can be 64 mario after you beat the game and buy the outfit with purple coins at the crazy cap store at peach's castle
Well honestly, Mario Odyssey wasn’t supposed to be a revolutionary game to begin with, but I do think there were great moments in Odyssey that’ll make it an overall incredibly memorable experience in the long run.
@Jacob Underwood More like 1 and a half consoles later Wii U was just an upgraded wii Plus, games have come back after longer breaks (Kid Icarus, for example)
TheMighty TacoMan John 3:16-18 King James Version (KJV) 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
I can’t wait to see if Scott genuinely starts wearing a chef’s hat in 2027, assuming if Scott or I get to live that long and if he continues doing his videos.
Playing this as a kid I got stuck on the manta ray level; after seeing this I'm remembering just how much fun I had and am excited to start playing it again
My all time favorite Mario game. I loved everything about Galaxy. Remember when I first got it for a Christmas present, I played it nonstop. Fell in love with the music, the characters, the gameplay, etc. When I first heard the Star Festival theme and then the Star Observatory theme, I knew this game was going to be special. The game just has this overall "magical" feel to it and I applaud everyone who worked on this masterpiece.
I subscribed to Scott when he had 8k... now he's almost on the 50k mark, and Isubded like two or three weeks ago!! So much deserved the grow in his channel... hopefully we'll be a million of us soon!
Thanks Scott, thanks for finally giving this game the respect and praise it deserves on youtube, i dont see many other youtubers talking about this game and we are all happy that someone gave this game justice, so thank you
This video was so great it made me almost tear up. First game I ever played with my daughter. She was "player 2" and so happy to help her dad collect Star Bits. It'll always have a place in my heart.
It’s always so sweet and wholesome to see RUclipsrs talking about their favorite games. You can tell how much Scott loves this game and how much it means to him. This video feels like his love letter to Galaxy and it’s so fun watching him gush about his favorite game of all time. This game was the first mainline Super Mario game I ever played and it truly felt epic in scale. I honestly cried from how sad Rosalina’s backstory. I hope more gaming RUclipsrs would make videos like this about their favorite video games
Every youtuber’s outro: “so uh yeah like, subscribe, and tell a friend about this video please peace” Scott’s outros: a stroke of fucking genius every God damned time
In 2027, if you still do youtube, then you have to wear a chef hat for every video Edit: He has given this a heart, chef hat confirmed. Edit 2: Wow! I’ve never had this many likes on a comment.
I just got the 3D all stars collection. Mario galaxy will always hold a very special place in my heart, I was 6 when it came out and I remember watching my dad playing the game the day it came out and being mesmerized. It’s not a videogame, it belongs in a museum
Glad to see someone who appreciates Mario Galaxy as the best Mario game. I agree entirely with everything you say. While it's not my favorite game ever, it's my favorite 3D platformer ever, and the memories I had with this game will never leave me. Playing in the wee hours of the morning the day after Christmas, my hands freezing but not caring because I was so amazed. Fighting bowser and finally defeating him. Most of all, discovering the pages of Rosalina's storybook, finding out her story, and crying along with her. This game is one of my all time favorites, and never will it leave me.
Oh my gosh, this game. Honestly, this game is the game that truly shaped me as a gamer. Before I ever played this game, I was about as casual as a casual gamer could get. I played Mario Party, Mario Kart, all the generic party type games and Pokemon. And while I finished Pokemon and played other games here and there, I never bothered finishing games. But this game... Oh my gosh, Galaxy was the turning point for me as a gamer. Flashing back to when I got my Wii, I was admittedly a little upset I'd gotten Mario Galaxy alongside my Wii. I was content to wait for Smash and was looking forward to Wii Sports. And yet I still gave it a play because it was still a gift and I'd played Mario 64 and just been okay with the very little exploration I did of the early levels. But something just... clicked with me in Mario Galaxy. I was blown away by the gameplay and how the game looked. I vividly remember being incredibly blown away with finding the Bee Mushroom so much fun. Yeah, it's not as amazing, but again, I wasn't one to play platformers much past the early places and none really blew me away. Yet Galaxy just hooked me and I had so much fun with it that I actually completed it 100 percent. I can vividly remember my last star as Mario was the Purple Coins of Seaslide, Bouldergeist's Daredevil boss run gave me so much trouble and I hated it and I also hated Luigi's Purple Coins, but MAN this game absolutely sticks out for me. Nowadays, I can go back to this game and breeze through it relatively easily, but I think that makes me appreciate the game MORE, rather than less. Not only does it show my progress as a gamer, taking Luigi's Purple Coins and scoffing at the challenge my 10 years ago self faced with it, clearing it with maybe a death or two, but nowhere near the amount I had growing up, but it just is a relaxing game to play through. I can have this amazing experience and just... have fun without needing to worry about the game feeling like it gets cheap or hard to the point I'm playing to clear a challenge or win a game. With Galaxy, I just play to play. To experience. This isn't my absolute favorite game of all time, that honor goes to Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, but MAN, when I think more and more about Galaxy, I'd honestly say it's a VERY close second, just due to what this game did for me in this soul absorbing hobby called gaming. I think a large part of it is exclusively because they did such a great job with making this game a joy to play and super accessible that I was enamored with the gameplay being incredibly fun and the art direction was simply stunning, that I have to agree wholeheartedly that this game is a masterpiece and easily one of the best games of all time. Also, the Bowser fights. Holy moly, the Bowser fights are incredible! I wanted to touch on this specifically because, honestly, Galaxy 2 did a piss poor job with Bowser's boss fights and this one did so well. Like, with these fights, they just feel so epic and it's just a lot of fun, and I feel each fight does just enough to change things up that it feels like Bowser evolves with each fight. Especially how the final boss fight gives him two new phases in the boulder and his rolling shell attack that the third fight feels like it's on a much grander scale and just feels like it makes the battle a unique experience. Compared to Galaxy 2 where... he just punches the ground, you smack meteors into him. Each and every time. And sure, he adds stuff to his moves in the second fight, but it felt like he only added to the moves, instead of feeling like he gets new moves and mixes things into the old ones. They're super underwhelming compared to Galaxy 1's, and I just can't help but find Bowser way more fun to fight in Galaxy 1 as a whole. Easily the one aspect undeniably worse in the sequel. And as for Odyssey, since you brought it up, it's very definitely the best 3D Mario to date. It's similarly accessible like Galaxy, looks better, sounds better, and plays better, with the capture mechanic being just as fun as Mario's spin, if a bit off putting when I throw Cappy expecting to use him as an attack and ending up capturing something, since I have stuff like the Cat Suit's swipe and, of course, the Spin so ingrained into my muscle memory that I can't help but expect to throw and just attack. And similarly, the Bowser fights are a joy in my eyes, being one of the absolute highlights of the game and equally as fun and just different enough between each of the fights as how Galaxy does it. And the game feels equally as cinematic as Galaxy. Sure, it's the same old story, but they do an excellent job telling the same old story in a way that feels fresh and enjoyable. And the one point I disagree with you on in this video is Bowser feeling goofy in Odyssey. If anything, he feels MORE threatening in the main journey, doing things like kicking Mario's butt clear into the Cap Kingdom, blasting his ship to tiny little hat sized bits after the first fight and COMMANDING A GIANT REALISTIC LIGHTNING DRAGON TO BLAST YOU AWAY! It very much feels like he means business in Odyssey and he feels like a legitimate threat and a very imposing figure. ...Then you get to the ending scene which throws all that out of the window, but MAN does Bowser put on quite the show until the ending. And that's not to say Odyssey ended badly, the ending is easily another highlight being so bonkers that it's hilarious. Just saying that he felt like a serious threat and that just leaves when you've finished. But all that aside, while I think Odyssey is the best 3D outing Mario ever had, Galaxy will always remain my favorite. I know I rambled on a lot, but I just love this game to death and the more I think about it, the more I just can't help but gush on my experiences with this game. It really means a lot to me, and I'm glad you shared this video with us. Thanks, Scott. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go do something decidedly less sappy and be back for future videos, hopefully with less lengthy and more concise comments.
I was born in 1986 and this game blew me away when I played it. I picked it up at an ebgames for $19.99 just because it was on sale... It's one of the best decisions I ever made. Galaxy is still the best 3d mario
One of my favorites as well. This game is pure magic. It has flaws, like every game, but the good parts are incredible. This and Galaxy 2 are the way to do linear 3D Mario to me. I really like 3D Land and World, but those feel like more calculated attempts to be acessible and more like 2D Mario. They were rock solid games, but I don't feel like they are that special. The Galaxy games just have so much creativity and wonder to them. Even 2, which is basically a level pack, felt this way. And the soundtracks... I don't think I'll ever like a Mario soundtrack more than those two. I'm in such a nostalgia trip right now. I really am looking forward to the future of the Mario series. Odyssey was fantastic, and it has amazing sequel potential, but man, you would not get any complaints from me if Nintendo decided to make Galaxy 3.
I remember playing mario galaxy on my Wii and I gotta say I loved the way the game was a completely new type of game, I remember screaming when I got this game because of how amazing this game looked and felt.
If you could make the levels like planets though, that would be fun, since the gravity works so well when the levels are planets and planetoids. No disrespect to sunshine, it's just that it's hard to have galaxy's gravity without the corresponding level design.
He said epidemic not pandemic and he also said robo ebola which would be a Ebolavirus based off of the name or a weird computer virus unlike sars-cov-2 (covid-19) which is an coronavirus
Galaxy and Odyssey are two great flavors from the same ice cream shoppe. The only edge I would give Galaxy is the music. Without a doubt in my mind, it is the best video game soundtrack ever.
Bro... you didn’t need to hit me in the feels with 14:21 ... I got emotional after beating this for the first time; it was one of the very first games I’ve ever beat and it too is my favorite game of all time. You really had do it to me...
Me too. Honestly, I love the sandbox style of Sunshine and the controls in Sunshine are so clean and fun to use. Maybe it's 'cause I grew up with Sunshine, but Sunshine is my favorite 3D Mario game and up there as one of my favorite games of all time.
Sunshine is a great game, there’s no denying that. The idea is unique, and its a really fun game to play. However, it’s Achilles heel is definitely it’s lack of finesse and polish. Specifically, the unfinished final level of the game and the mechanics and movements of Mario in certain… ahem, Stages. Compared to the rest of the game, the final level is extremely underwhelming and could’ve been done so much better. And the freakin plinko level in its entirety is a fantastic summation of the rest of the issues in the game. While the issues aren’t widespread, where they’re present, it’s extremely obvious and about breaks the game and your immersion
for context on how long ten years is this video was made when I was nine. In November 2027, I'll be nearly finishing my first semester of freshman year in college.
@@MochaRitzI have to disagree with you. 1 has much more depth than 2, and felt so much more real and thought through. 2 really was just extra levels and galaxies. There were no investing story, or interesting characters, just more levels.
The levels are better than the first, and that alone sets it a hell of a lot higher than a cash grab. You may prefer the more cinematic and melancholy tone of the first game, but that doesn't mean the second one was soulless or anything.
It’s so cool to see how consistent Scott’s content has been throughout all these years. He still has the same writing style, humor, and editing style. The only things that have really changed are the place he records in, and his voice can sound slightly higher pitched. Also this is 100% not a bad thing, it’s an amazing thing
I 100% agree with you, Mario Galaxy is my number 1 favorite game. I've been playing it for years and never been disappointed. Ever since I bought it at the store when I was 6 years old. Call me weird but I would bring the box of the game where ever I went just to look at the pictures of screenshots and power ups in aw. For me Galaxy 1 is better than 2 in my personal opinion. One thing I disagree in is that the Manatee levels are waaayyy too fun and awesome even as a kid.
i basically instantly bought the bundle, mainly for Galaxy and 64, i've heard great things about them (also Sunshine, but i'm not AS excited for that), i've purposely not played these games, just so i could experience them on the switch one day!
@@melloch5302 I'm buying once my next check comes in. I'm most excited for galaxy, since I never got to experience it. (My wii broke as soon as I got old enough to realize I needed to play it) but sunshine is amazing and my personal favorite 3d mario. I'm sure you'll love it

And it had been a very long time since a video game had that effect on me :,)
I think odyssey is great

Definetly NOT Galaxy

Nah.
That's for the game after the next Mario game.
Galaxy is nothing like 64, that's just ridiculous.
Galaxy is more of a true successor to World. It took the spirit of 2d Mario and turned it into 3d. 64 and Sunshine, imo, failed to do that.
I loved that ending speech. It’s so nice and brings tears to my eyes. And that piano version of Gusty Garden is just amazing.
Man I'm so excited for the 3D all stars collection. People who get to play them for the first time are so lucky
Humanity before April 2021 was having a ball
I explicitly bought 3d all stars primarly for Galaxy
64 and sunshine was just a bonus
pretty sure there's still 1 or 2 copies left of 3d all stars at my walmart
Played Galaxy for the first time last year.
And I gotta say, it's one of the most beautiful games I've ever played.
The music is amazing, the visuals are absolute eye candy-
I am honestly glad I was a bit older when playing this game for the first time, it would be a shame not to have enough memories of playing Gusty Garden or Space Junk Galaxy for the first time.
Your not alone.
I agree. The experience as a whole in odyssey was much more underwhelming compared to galaxy, especially the music.
Odyssey was just to quick of a game that didn't leave an impact---and my god was it too anti-climatic

First new video whilst I've been subscribed! Love all of your content Scott, been binge watching all of it the past few days
Something tells me you have strong feelings toward Madden 08.

Imagine: galaxy's level design, but with odyssey's movement/controls.
Nah. Sunshines level design with galaxys gravity with odysseys movement
If you could make the levels like planets though, that would be fun, since the gravity works so well when the levels are planets and planetoids. No disrespect to sunshine, it's just that it's hard to have galaxy's gravity without the corresponding level design.
Kellen Bluestein true but they could make the levels less linear
that would be awesome if they could make it work

Me too. Honestly, I love the sandbox style of Sunshine and the controls in Sunshine are so clean and fun to use. Maybe it's 'cause I grew up with Sunshine, but Sunshine is my favorite 3D Mario game and up there as one of my favorite games of all time.
It's not an bad game by all means. But it does have alot of problems.
