Oh yeah I remember thinking that too. In captain toad (the game) if you get damaged captain toad's head looks just like a super mushroom that Mario eats
Anyone ever find it off putting that toads eat mushrooms? Even if toads and mushrooms are separate species (duh) they’re obviously biologically similar if not related
@@WarioTimeWarioTimeWarioTime in the super Mario tv show those mushroom heads were hats. But Nintendo changed it to their actual head so it is a bit weird
Interesting so far. Might add any notes I have while watching here 3:40 it’s worth noting that “Hell Valley” likely isn’t directly referencing hell, but instead a Japanese hot spring known as “hell valley” 7:45 the skybox also actually seems to originate from Wind Waker 15:15 It seems as though a full game being referred to as “Super Mario 128” was teased during a 2005 interview, with a new character, a different name, and a heavy influence on the Wii’s design. Later, in 2006, 128 was described as moreso being testing ideas, so if that really was a Mario game that spawned from 128 being teased, it’s likely that was Galaxy 34:50 it is worth noting that the reference to a “miniature band” is a funny coincidence considering Galaxy has an orchestral soundtrack, and “any game from past consoles” does sound like Virtual Console as well. The Wii isn’t quite able to display THAT many colours, and it’s actually only a 32-bit console, with them only going back to 64 with the Switch 35:48 they may have been referring to a specific one in Galaxy 2, in Melty Monster Galaxy IIRC, where the weird skybox can still be seen if you leave it 43:25 I think there’s another side to Galaxy 2’s skyboxes (although Galaxy 1 had some similar cases) that you sort of touched upon earlier, being areas like Melty Molten Galaxy, Flash Black Galaxy, Slipsand (and Clockwork Ruins) Galaxy, Bowser’s Galaxy Generator and Hightail Falls Galaxy, where you’re surrounded by massive structures or landforms that absolutely dwarf you and everything around you, creating this bizarre environment that feels alien with it’s unimaginable scale There was a bit of this in Galaxy one, but it’s definitely stronger in Galaxy 2. Combined with the numerous other skyboxes that seemingly position you above a planet that stretches all the way into the horizon, which also were decently common in the first game, it feels like they shifted their focus from the vast emptiness of space to environments that feel massive and alien, like a place you weren’t meant to go 53:38 I love that you may have accidentally showcased a smaller quirk just as you finished explaining all that, as we see a coin land on top of the electric fence 54:30 “regular” excluding the ones in toad town, like the soldier(?) Toads (honestly, although it doesn’t really stick out when you’re playing, the idea of Toads wielding a weapon feels bizarre. It makes sense for there to be royal guards, but it still feels strange seeing toads being armed with weapons for some reason, probably because they don’t particularly seem that combat-inclined) 1:00:45 I hate to say it, but I think it’s also possible that this is just the point in the iceberg where they start throwing in random creepy stuff they made up to make it spookier. Your “1995 build do not research” or whatnot. 1:12:36 Tuxie is a similar size as well in SM64
Something I haven't seen mentioned in any Mario Galaxy Iceberg yet is the fact that Luigi has extra dialogue that references the player's death, specifically in the mission where you rescue him from a bug in Honeyhive Galaxy. If you rescue him, fall into a black hole, then rescue him again, he references hearing a scream. It's such a weird obscure detail that I feel like most players wouldn't ever encounter unless they were messing around. I remember finding it really funny when I was a kid.
That’s not the only time Luigi’s dialogue changes upon the players death. In good egg galaxy he’ll say something like “what are you doing? The fate of the universe is at stake” and in battlerock he’ll say about how you tried to leave him out in space Unfortunately in ghostly you can’t die when you talk to Luigi so you can’t get any text. There is also no unused text that was put there by mistake because the writers thought you would die (in other words I was hoping for a situation like the fact there’s text in TTYD for goombella, koops and flurrie going into the major league even though you can only have the mini yoshi say anything about going into the major league) Interesting what that line could’ve been and even just those 3 lines are a neat Easter egg

Just finished watching it - what a ride! Weirdly surreal hearing the theories I've read and discussed on tiny message threads and amongst friends for years be so well analysed in a proper video - feels like a tick off the bucket list! Some small expansions I can provide as iceberg creator! - with Good Egg's Egg Hatching, this actually refers to the GIANT yoshi egg planet, not Dino Piranha's Egg - I heard rumours over the years there was a hidden way to break it open and reveal a giant yoshi, possibly also with the blue star inside! - the Super Jump entry actually refers to the glitch seen in the Deep Dark Dev Pipe entry, it's a complex maneuver mainly seen in the max coin runs of the game that manipulates slight clips into geometry allowing the player to be sent ludicrously high into the air - on that note, if anyone wants to do more research into Galaxy, ABSOLUTELY check out the Golden Block's max coin video, it's a great watch. As someone who's done a max% coin run of Galaxy the challenge is ludicrously hard and fun! That's all! Loved the video, can't wait for more, thanks for featuring my nerdy little assembly of facts for this amazing game!!
About where galaxy 2 takes place in the timeline - it doesn't. It's revealed in the secret ending that the entire game was a story being told by rosalina to the lumas. So basically, it's rosalina's own interpretation/retelling of what mario was getting up to while he was saving the universe from bowser, while she was in the observatory. That's why the opening cutscenes are storybook themed! I remember as a kid thinking mario was 100 years old tho lmao

6:27 - I can't find any comments about it, but Olimar's ship is the S.S. Dolphin, not the Hocotate Freight ship that was used in Pikmin 2 and is the one that's referenced in Galaxy 1.
1:09:28 This is so cool! I thought it was just a case of the Mandela effect. I have 2 separate childhood memories of trying to fly into the hungry Luma portals and having it work one time, but not the other.
36:13 These were so mysterious for me as a kid. I always thought that those are planets with mission I still need to somehow uncover and I spent days mapping out a way to get there with my trusted pen and paper.
For the multiple timeline thing i just think that luigi is playable in galaxy 2 cause mario is tired. Like come one, give this guy a well deserved break
Cosmic Luigi is a speed runner through and through. The game gives you a few instances to pass him in each bit in the loop galaxy he only makes 3 mistakes in a perfect run, and 2 of those mistakes are small ones so you almost have to play perfect to beat him.
Another great iceberg exploration by you, I loved being able to learn information I never knew about in one of my favourite games and the descent into more obscure territory was paced and handled perfectly. I can't wait for more of your videos soon
Hey, in drip drop galaxy the spaceship they are talking about isnt the one you are able to see. There is actually another one in the center of the planet almost no one knows about
BEST VIDEO YET!!!! Mister.d never disappoints. The narration and script is the best of your videos by far and I loved the theories and mysteries surrounding of both Galaxy's gameplay and lore. The quality of this channel has come a long way and I know for sure you will reach the preposterous status as a youtube legend
This is the best one of these Galaxy videos, the others disappointed me. I especially like how you put effort into the bottom of the iceberg instead of writing it off
I think what the "Ghostly Galaxy Sky" entry is referring too is that the same texture for the skybox ghosts was also used for the Ghost Ship in WindWaker. Also I have something that wasn't included in this video. When looking at BigMouth Galaxy from the universe map, it has a different skybox, seemingly the same one used in Space Junk Galaxy. Perhaps that image of the level was taken from earlier stage in it's development. Super Mario Broth has a screenshot of this on their website.
How are the most obscure channels often the ones that upload the most interesting videos? I loved this one. I love Galaxy and Galaxy 2 and I love exploring every single detail of these games. This video was awesome, keep it up!
51:35 Ohmigosh, I'm one of the people that helped out with that video! You did a great job of explaining the cannonball coin spawning logic, and I'm honestly honored to have indirectly helped in the production of this iceberg analysis. This is so cool!
I'm late replying here, but as the guy who made the iceberg, I'm honoured to see YOU commenting here! Your max coins videos were my bible in max%'ing Mario Galaxy, they were incredibly helpful, I couldn't NOT mention the things learnt from them on the iceberg! :D
8:25 you forgot to mention that skybox was used in Wind waker ghost ship first 32:00 seriously that’s a reference to Super Mario world but in Japanese in Super Mario World Yoshi leaves a text saying Yoshi the Super Dragon can’t believe I’m the only Nintendo fan that knows that!
The ship that you were talking about in the entry 'Olimar's Ship' resembles the Hocotate Ship more then Olimar's S.S. Dolphin, the Hocotate Ship belongs to the company Olimar works for.
16:40 I love stuff like that in skyboxes. In my sorta dream SMG game concept, it’d likely be its own galaxy that’d be a sort of haunted version of TTC from SM64 due to it looking to be a creepy clock tower. I’d likely use a lot of stuff on here. For example, the Starman Fort has its own enemies, which are small shadowy orbs with yellow eyes (which I’d likely explain as the “true form” of cosmic clones due to Cosmic Rosalina being able to take the form of an orb of energy and the cosmic clones having yellow eyes)
I don't actually feel "lonely" while playing mario galaxy 1 as there are plenty of foes to fight, npcs to talk to, and other stuff. I simply feel confused. Many skyboxes show a cosmic background filled to the brim with stars. However, theres something i noticed. Many galaxies, despite being in different areas (usually) are... "orbiting?" Something massive. I always wondered what it could be. It can't be mario's homeworld (I'll just simply call it Keplar-85c. seems like a fitting name.) Because it's shown to be much smaller in the ending of super mario galaxy. So... what is it? I hope they make multiple mario games revolving around exploring this odd planet (if i can even call it that). Though, i heavily doute it. It seems like a detail that some (if not, most) people ignore because they've gotta kick a newborn reptilian flower's ass into next week. Who knows. Maybe they will, maybe they wont. Doesn't really matter. Because in the end, all that matters is keeping yhe fanbase satisfied.
1:26:47 I do have 3 theories in regards to what could be considered the star bunny's home, although they're mostly just speculation or stretches. 1) Due to the star bunnies essentially just being transformed Lumas (as shown in Gateway Galaxy's First mission), my first guess is that they could be referring to the Comet Observatory since it primarily showcases itself as the main home of the lumas with house-like structures for each room. 2) The house could be hidden either inside the trees or burrows of the Gold Leaf Galaxy. 3) The inhabitant of the house in Good Egg Galaxy could be the brother of this particular star bunny since it is the only house in SMG1 that has an unknown inhabitant who speaks to Mario (Although this could just be Bill Board's house, I prefer to stick with the Bill Board at 4:39 as an interaction placeholder for the real inhabitant). Again, this is purely just speculation as in SMG2, there is a star bunny who lives in a cabin in Freeze Flake Galaxy, while other starbunnies live in their own seperate colonies in galaxies such as Gold Leaf and Snow Cap Galaxy. The 2nd theory seems to be the closest to where the bunny's home is, but I find the 3rd theory to be more fun to think about.
I'm pretty sure the text on the door in Good Egg Galaxy is meant to be from a note, even if we don't see one. The button prompt says "read" and the text is written on a paper background with wood behind it.
was finally able to see the grand finale about a year ago after managing to complete that one stupidly hard trash removal level in battlerock galaxy (yk the one)
1:37:51 I have a theory, i think when the luma reset the universe happen like in jojo when the people that haven't died during the reset they Will be the same(Sorry for bad english)
Could the star bit rupee you can only see by climbing the bridge be a reference to Hyrule Castletown's bridge in OoT? I remember you could climb up THAT bridge and get rupees from standing on the top, but I think they were red, not blue.
42:20 sorry to be a nerd but the bee mushroom shows up in the credits when u have 120 stars. Its not character dependant. Also you black home theory at ~ 1:00:30 is probably what it means
I literally can’t express how happy I am to hear someone else noticed the extra bright light at the observatory. I spent hours messing around with it and never found anything
1:28:35 HUH?? THAT'S WHY IT'S CALLED HELL VALLEY SKY TREE?? WHY DID YOU SKIP OVER THAT?? I FEEL LIKE I'VE HEARD PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THE HELL VALLEY SKY TREES A BILLION TIMES BUT I'VE LITERALLY NEVER HEARD ABOUT THE FACT THAT HELL VALLEY IS JUST WHAT IT'S CALLED IN JAPANESE! idk if i'm dumb but i feel like that's very relevant and i've genuinely never heard of that piece of info in god knows how many videos i've watched over the years that talk about the hell valley sky trees, that fact straight up makes them like 3x LESS scary than they were, it's still ominous that they look like that but if we just called them "Shiver Burn Sky Trees" i don't think they'd be considered as creepy as they are, now they just look like goofy trees that match the vibe of the level lmao as someone who speaks two languages i can assure you that "hell" probably just sounds cool in japanese, the word for hell in my first language is "inferno" and when i was a kid, seeing the word Inferno in a bunch of stuff always caught me off guard because it's kind of a heavy word, not a swear word tier but kinda getting there, the same way the word "Hell" is to native english speakers, now that i've been speaking english for a long time, "Inferno" just makes me think of fire and maybe lava, just generally "fiery" vibes, when spoken in an english sentence, which is absolutely not the case when I hear someone say "Inferno" in a portuguese sentence. So shiver burn being called "Hell Valley" in japanese just makes me feel the same way I imagine most native english speakers would about the level being called "Infernal Valley", which might be a wrong assumption, so correct me if i'm wrong, but i think that parents wouldn't reprimand a kid for saying the word "Infernal" but they would if they said "Hell yeah" (hence the existence of "heck" as a replacement, like "dang" for damn, or "frick" for fuck)
My 7 year old son just said that red Toads are rare, because their heads are cut off, for power ups. He came up with that, himself.
Oh yeah I remember thinking that too. In captain toad (the game) if you get damaged captain toad's head looks just like a super mushroom that Mario eats

@@TheSmart-CasualGameryeah vouch, i need that remix it's an absolute jam
this was really good, I actually wanted to cover this iceberg but there’s no way I can do better than you did here good job
edit: also one obscure entry that could have been here is the melty monster galaxy massive black void that appears when u enter the bowling challenge and then return to the starting planetoid, this one has always been pretty eerie tho its just a dev error
spooxa spotted
6:27 - I can't find any comments about it, but Olimar's ship is the S.S. Dolphin, not the Hocotate Freight ship that was used in Pikmin 2 and is the one that's referenced in Galaxy 1.
Is that a smoke alarm beep i can hear sometimes?
1:09:28 This is so cool! I thought it was just a case of the Mandela effect. I have 2 separate childhood memories of trying to fly into the hungry Luma portals and having it work one time, but not the other.
36:13 These were so mysterious for me as a kid. I always thought that those are planets with mission I still need to somehow uncover and I spent days mapping out a way to get there with my trusted pen and paper.
For the multiple timeline thing i just think that luigi is playable in galaxy 2 cause mario is tired. Like come one, give this guy a well deserved break
This is one of the best icebrg videos ive seen idk how it hasent been promted on more people recommended. RUclips is werid with recommendation
Cosmic Luigi is a speed runner through and through. The game gives you a few instances to pass him in each bit in the loop galaxy he only makes 3 mistakes in a perfect run, and 2 of those mistakes are small ones so you almost have to play perfect to beat him.
Great video!
Another great iceberg exploration by you, I loved being able to learn information I never knew about in one of my favourite games and the descent into more obscure territory was paced and handled perfectly. I can't wait for more of your videos soon
anyone know the song between 50:36-53:47? i really wanna put this on my playlist
I've been wondering that same thing too
I love how so many games have their own "Load-bearing coconut" like tf2 supposedly had. In this case, Kinoko, the player mushroom.
Hey, in drip drop galaxy the spaceship they are talking about isnt the one you are able to see. There is actually another one in the center of the planet almost no one knows about
im pretty sure Lubba actually might be the purple comet as at the end of galaxy 2 Lubba mentions meeting Rosalina "again"
He's done it again. The GOAT 🐐
I’ve been waiting for this for so long!!! YEAHHHH!!!
I’ve been waiting for this for so long!!! YEAHHHH!!!
22:00 perhaps this Luigi was pulled from Mario 64…
i cant beleive universal studios collaborated with you for your intro, its crazy when you think about it XD
I found a lot of this stuff on my own as a kid. Swimming in loop-de-swoop? Yep. The duplicate torch? Yep.
Perhaps I was a bit obsessed with the game…
8:25 you forgot to mention that skybox was used in Wind waker ghost ship first
32:00 seriously that’s a reference to Super Mario world but in Japanese in Super Mario World Yoshi leaves a text saying Yoshi the Super Dragon can’t believe I’m the only Nintendo fan that knows that!
This vid cannot have 1.7k
one of the greatest iceberg videos i’ve ever seen. crazy this hasn’t gotten more attention. keep up the great work.
The ship that you were talking about in the entry 'Olimar's Ship' resembles the Hocotate Ship more then Olimar's S.S. Dolphin, the Hocotate Ship belongs to the company Olimar works for.
You have legit talent for this. Actual bloody masterpiece
I don’t think anyone is living in the Good Egg Galaxy house. They way, it’s been worded makes it sound like nobody’s currently there
16:40 I love stuff like that in skyboxes. In my sorta dream SMG game concept, it’d likely be its own galaxy that’d be a sort of haunted version of TTC from SM64 due to it looking to be a creepy clock tower.
I’d likely use a lot of stuff on here. For example, the Starman Fort has its own enemies, which are small shadowy orbs with yellow eyes (which I’d likely explain as the “true form” of cosmic clones due to Cosmic Rosalina being able to take the form of an orb of energy and the cosmic clones having yellow eyes)
you need to make more of these youre gonna be a big channel one day. trust me.
Does the fire hurt Mario in the throne room or is he completely invincible from damage all together?
Feel bad that this is still at a low view count after a month
the first minute of this video feels like the video game dreams that i can’t describe, so thank you for encapsulating that feeling
I'm pretty sure the text on the door in Good Egg Galaxy is meant to be from a note, even if we don't see one. The button prompt says "read" and the text is written on a paper background with wood behind it.
I *swear* the homing ground pound had a tutorial. an out-of-the-way tutorial, maybe. But I remember it
This is still one of the best iceberg videos ever created. What's the song at 47:41, it really fits the segments its used in and sounds amazing
I adore this video
was finally able to see the grand finale about a year ago after managing to complete that one stupidly hard trash removal level in battlerock galaxy (yk the one)
1:00:50 Isn't the death cry terryfying enough? And no I don't know anything, it may be a mandella effect though.
42:20 sorry to be a nerd but the bee mushroom shows up in the credits when u have 120 stars. Its not character dependant. Also you black home theory at ~ 1:00:30 is probably what it means
1:30:43 the eye beamers get a little quirky at night
I cant believe mario galaxy has a freaking load-bearing mushroom
Wow awesome stuff!!
Wow I had no idea until I saw this very video that there were secret diving animations for Mario and Luigi.
1:22:15 For God's sake, it's the TF2 coconut all over again.
1:22:08
I can't tell if this is real or just a Team Fortress 2 coconut reference
Cool intro!
The thumbnail sounds like something he said
Bro I didn't even think there would be enough content in Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 to make a 20 minute video let alone on 1 hour long video
Good video bro. I remember seeing the thumbnail on Reddit a few mounts back. Good job😊
music at ~1:08:51 is Forest temple from ocarina of time 👍
the first song in the intro is Chain World/Yume 2kki OST but remixed, do you have the link or smt ?
i did the remix myself, i havent uploaded it but may do in the future if people like it.
@@lugalan absolute banger, i shazamed it as soon as the video started but nothing 🙃
@@lugalanPlease post when you get the chance! I keep replaying it, it’s an absolute banger!
Happy to see made an in depth iceberg on such a favorite of mine.
Very engaging video.
Awesome vid man looking forward to more
2:52 when the video actually starts
I literally can’t express how happy I am to hear someone else noticed the extra bright light at the observatory. I spent hours messing around with it and never found anything
1:28:35 HUH?? THAT'S WHY IT'S CALLED HELL VALLEY SKY TREE?? WHY DID YOU SKIP OVER THAT?? I FEEL LIKE I'VE HEARD PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THE HELL VALLEY SKY TREES A BILLION TIMES BUT I'VE LITERALLY NEVER HEARD ABOUT THE FACT THAT HELL VALLEY IS JUST WHAT IT'S CALLED IN JAPANESE!
idk if i'm dumb but i feel like that's very relevant and i've genuinely never heard of that piece of info in god knows how many videos i've watched over the years that talk about the hell valley sky trees, that fact straight up makes them like 3x LESS scary than they were, it's still ominous that they look like that but if we just called them "Shiver Burn Sky Trees" i don't think they'd be considered as creepy as they are, now they just look like goofy trees that match the vibe of the level lmao
as someone who speaks two languages i can assure you that "hell" probably just sounds cool in japanese, the word for hell in my first language is "inferno" and when i was a kid, seeing the word Inferno in a bunch of stuff always caught me off guard because it's kind of a heavy word, not a swear word tier but kinda getting there, the same way the word "Hell" is to native english speakers, now that i've been speaking english for a long time, "Inferno" just makes me think of fire and maybe lava, just generally "fiery" vibes, when spoken in an english sentence, which is absolutely not the case when I hear someone say "Inferno" in a portuguese sentence.
Banana eater
Change your smoke alarm batteries
1:08:48 is forest temple from ocarina of time
Amazing! For the algorithm
A fantastic iceberg video covering my favorite games! I'm surprised this only has 14k views; this is some super high quality content.
GIVE THIS MAN MORE ATTENTION RUclips.
Amazing video! This video totally deserves more views and likes. Good work!!
Glad the video finally came out. Super well researched, I learned some things I didn’t know.
637 views???? criminally underrated for a 1 hour and 44 minute video
1:40:59 the tonal whiplash is insane
The intro goes so hard lol
waiting for the algorithm to work its magic on this video
this deserves WAY more recognition
never forgetting Neil Cicierega's Mouth Dreams album cover has starts referencing SMG stars in the covers
in the album, they read out "nice Modems"
Great video!! Hope your channel blows up!
